Poll: Horror Movie Rentals Part 5: Where'd This Kid Come From?
Tumblr media
Welp, you're back at the movie rental store after having slacked off all week and neglected to do anything to stop this loop you appear to be stuck in.
Worse still, now there's a kid hanging out in the aisle with you. You obviously don't want this responsibility and try to sneak away to the horror section, but the kid follows and you appear to be stuck with him. Hoping that this is merely a temporary sidekick situation and not some inexplicable long lost child of yours, you check out this week's selection.
Nine VHS tapes sit before you, ready for renting. Maybe you feel like revisiting a beloved favorite. Maybe you want to check out something you've never seen before...
All are the fifth entry in their respective series... including one that never got a VHS release but you've already stopped questioning things.
Part 1, Part 2: Return of the VHS, Part III: The Weird One, Part 4: The Final Return

Thank Goodness it's Thursday Part 5 - Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985)
In today's review, I find that the community at Pinehurst might be the best place to start anew. As I attempt a #positive review of the 1985 film, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning #JohnShepherd #CoreyFeldman #MelanieKinnaman #ShavarRoss #RichardYoung
You learn that in some cases, it may be worth it to never say die, especially if the idea ends up being lucratively beneficial to you. There are always ways to carry on the story, remake it, or both. In 1985, after swearing off the franchise, Both Jarvis (and possibly Jason) returned, only in not the way that you expected, in Friday The 13th Part 5 A New Beginning. Jason is back! Just not how…

March 22, 1985 - Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning is released theatrically in the US.
The slasher film was written by David Cohen, Martin Kitrosser and Danny Steinmann with Steinmann also serving as director. It starred Melanie Kinnaman, John Shepherd, Shavar Ross and Richard Young.
Casting for the film was done under a fake title, Repetition, and several of the actors did not find out it was a Friday the 13th film until after they were cast in their roles.

Horror Movie Franchise Posters [ Part 01 ]
"What scares me is what scares you. We’re all afraid of the same things. That’s why horror is such a powerful genre. All you have to do is ask yourself what frightens you and you’ll know what frightens me." - John Carpenter
I’ve been meaning to make these since before I even started this blog, and kept putting it off because my first attempt has messed-up swatches. All of these posters are taken from my Plex library, Google, or TPDb. More parts coming soon!
Base game compatible (since they’re a standalone base game recolor)
Custom swatches and catalogue previews for each set
Thumbtacks match a color featured in the poster
§10 each, under the Decoration > Wall category
Offer +1 to Environment
32 total films
All film titles and download link under the cut:
Download here [ SimFileShare ]
If you use these, it’d be great if you could tag me, but I won’t force you to do it. Just credit me somewhere.
Do not reupload these – especially if you’re gonna charge for them.

I hope others enjoy this list as much as I enjoyed compiling it.  It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time (probably the thing that interests me most about horror films is their historical significance, and influence on/reflection of our ever-changing society), and I’m glad I finally got it done.  I only wish I could have provided more links! Also, once again, I urge anyone interested in black horror cinema to visit BlackHorrorMovies.com.  You’ll find lots of other films besides the ones on this list.
If the trends I noticed while putting this list together continue, we’re likely to see a massive increase in horror films written and directed by black filmmakers in the near future!  🤞

Friday The 13th Part 5 A New Beginning (1985)
A NEW BEGINNING TO THE FIRST STEP IN TERROR.
Homicidal maniac Jason returns from the grave to cause more bloody mayhem. Young Tommy may have escaped from Crystal Lake, but he’s still haunted by the gruesome events that happened there. When gory murders start happening at the secluded halfway house for troubled teens where he now lives, it seems like his nightmarish nemesis, Jason, is back for more sadistic slaughters. But as things spiral out of control and the body count rises, Tommy begins to wonder if he’s become the killer he fears most. ×

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985)
So here’s a bit of unfortunate news for you: Jason isn’t in this movie. They apparently tried TWICE to take these movies away from Jason and closer to “Friday the 13th” spooks and failed. This is the second movie where Jason is not the killer. In his own franchise! This movie is about Tommy, the little boy from the previous movie, dealing with murders in his halfway house. Jason appears in an opening scene nightmare. (So does Corey Feldman.) This movie is really not that bad. And the killer seems so obvious, until you realize you’re wrong. I was surprised. There was some humor in it as well and it made me uncomfortable.
Rating: F. In solidarity with Jason.
