I've had a thought based on what I've seen on YouTube and I'd like to know if anyone here agrees with this sentiment regarding the Halloween franchise and the Friday the 13th movie franchise.

Personally, I don't care for John Carpenter's Halloween in the slightest, but I am well aware others see it as his greatest film. That being said, a few years ago I came across a survey that inquired as to a person's favourite movie of the Halloween franchise or if they flat-out preferred the Friday the 13th Franchise and, to my surprise, the results were most people taking the quiz preferred the Friday the 13th franchise.

So my thought is this:

Do people prefer the first Halloween movie to the first Friday the 13th, since many people have called it a rip-off of Halloween - but they prefer the Friday the 13th sequels over Halloween's sequels?

Please discuss - I welcome discussions but please, no bashing if favourites are mentioned, this is simply a friendly discussion as to which franchise you prefer and if you have any favourites in the other. I prefer the Friday the 13th franchise (including the 5th one - a different killer wasn't a bad idea to breathe new life into the franchise, I just wish it wasn't someone we literally saw for less than 2 minutes) but I also enjoy Halloween III: Season of the Witch.
