On the rare occasions a pack of ranch dressing mix comes into this house, @dduane mixes it with sour cream as dip for crisps ("chips").

I've never seen it made into a salad dressing, partly because of rarity, partly because of price - those little packets of Hidden Valley are expensive imports!

But mostly because she prefers the Swiss French Dressing on our new hobby site The Mind Palate, which is made from Actual Ingredients and which has been tweaked more than once, again with Actual Ingredients, to resemble ranch dressing enough for her satisfaction.

But French or ranch, deep or shallow, she's never, ever fried it.

I put herlock in a dress and call it a day
