"...ho messo molti elementi personali nel mio lavoro. Il mio amico Philip, uno scultore morto di AIDS, ha creato un'opera che ho incluso in Freedom perché spesso esprimeva il suo desiderio di averla in uno spazio pubblico. Il mio gatto, che ha vissuto con me per 20 anni, mia madre, mio padre e il mio autoritratto sono nell'opera. E' ovvio quale sia il mio volto perché c'è una frase a palloncino che esce dalla mia bocca con la parola "libertà", scritta al contrario, facendo capire che il volto è stato scolpito in uno specchio...

Per me è importante che il pubblico interagisca con la scultura, non solo intellettualmente ed emotivamente, ma anche fisicamente. Ho creato uno spazio in cui ho scritto ***"stand here"*** in modo che le persone possano collocarsi all'interno della scultura e diventare parte della composizione."
