Excited to finally get my hands on Xeryus Rouge by Givenchy. So far, I’m really enjoying this. I’m not exactly sure what cactus smells like but in combination with the pimento note, the opening of  Xeryus Rouge is arresting.

Have you ever smelled the skin of an unripe mango?  Xeryus Rouge captures some of that sharp earthiness but stops short of veering into the vaguely sweaty odor of the rind. After that, XR shifts direction and settles into gentle woods and musk.

This is marketed as a men’s fragrance but I think it could easily be unisex. Despite the aromatic opening there is a warmth to this that makes it a true red fragrance.

Doing a quick hit today. And the prize for the best bottle goes to Insijam by Nabeel. I'm still in the mood for comforting transition scents, so I pulled this one out today.  Despite the weapon-like bottle, Inisjam, which means harmony in Arabic is certainly harmonious, managing to be sweet, spicy and fresh all at once thanks to the vetiver under all those florals. The vetiver and aldehydic notes are strongest in the beginning, with the florals dominating as it develops. This definitely tends toward sweetness over time so for me it's more of a layering scent. I'm planning to pair this with something smoky to get that true fall feeling. A cheapie but goodie. Happy Friday :)  Top Notes : White Flowers, Aldehydic, Spicy, Rose. Middle Notes : Jasmine,  Violet, Ylang ylang. Base Notes : Sandal, Amber, Vetiver.
