The second best part about body horror is that it understands the basic universal fact that in terms of the worst possible physical suffering, pain is always, always surmounted by sheer discomfort. This is why body horror is disabled horror, is trans horror. It understands there is a worse kind of terror than anything that's only going to hurt you. That sometimes things that don't hurt at all can torture you even more. Maybe pain would even be a mercy.
