I've finished Etho's s7 hermitcraft so guess who's back with a slightly updated/slightly consolidated list of things about ethoslab I have noticed! or just enjoy!
(the previous list)
I have no idea when he learned to noteblock. I don't know if he knows. he knows how to noteblock tho. he's really good at it.
on that note, did you know that there is not a single piece of non-noteblock music in etho's s7 after the first episode? there might not even be any in the first episode. every single timelapse or montage is set to noteblock music
(he sang along to parts of his paper planes noteblock cover too. he was going shopping. I was entirely too delighted)
(also, there is some like...sitcom music theme that I don't know what show it's from. it's bothering me that I don't know. what you need to know is that throughout his s7 etho uses said sitcom theme as the transition before Shenanigans With Fellow Hermits clips play. his life is a sitcom. yes it is the noteblock version.)
I think that etho desperately needs minigames for enrichment. if he's not playing one he's working on one. he needs them and he will let them completely consume his life
the etho decked out 1 runs are hilarious, partially because it's funny to see him play it and realize how absolutely insane decked out 2 is, and how much of a madlad tango is. etho is still the same menace with great luck and skills. I had forgotten about the hole to the void in the middle out decked out 1 tho, that was a fun reminder
etho could make a career out of translating classic type games into minecraft. he kind of has, but it's a pattern.
he also keeps coming up with new games that are minecraft only and is good at figuring out how to balance them well.
again, king of minigames. he will in fact analyze them as much as possible. he caught on to the pattern of impulse's whack a mole game in like...2 rounds? maybe 3? he's good at pattern recognition and will put it to good use no matter the minigame
etho, I cannot stress this enough, is a little shit and enjoys being such. free glass is obviously an iconic moment, but I had forgotten about him scamming scar out of diamonds for "information" about the resistance, or about sneak-e-e's business model (you can't tax what you can't find!), or about how he kept being extremely ridiculous with beef in regards to record shop payments...the list goes on
etho is also very competitive. I mentioned this in the last list, but man...he joins like every single competition he can. he wants to win. he's not like, a sore loser, but he likes to win, and he'll get a little upset if he doesn't.
etho and beef have clearly known each other a long time and ngl I miss their interactions a bit. let them bother each other a bit more please. I want to see them trying to kill each other in ridiculous ways again please. or doing minigames together. they're so silly.
kind of similar, but etho loves getting a rise out of people and it is the best thing ever actually. it's fun watching him use dirty tricks to beat bdubs to sleeping for a prize. it's perfect actually.
that being said, I still really like when etho is just on his own working on stuff too. s7 has a lot of moments where etho will go "I'm gonna use this block palette!" and I will think "bro that's ugly" and then he will make an extremely cohesive build that I want to live in out of it. I think a good way to describe it is that for example bdubs is really good at detailed builds with texture and not much color, and a very realistic twist to them. etho is not afraid to use color at all, and embraces how the colors can work together or contrast. it's fascinating to watch and I love it.
he is also a redstone genius. I feel I am starting to understand how some things with redstone work. could I design something myself? absolutely not but I could work from a tutorial and not feel completely lost on why I have to use a dispenser and not a dropper now.
I think s7 etho is really experimenting a lot with style and how he wants to do things. he does a few more elaborate intros, for example, that are very planned out, but he also does a lot of the classic "hello everybody this is etho and welcome back to hermitcraft!" it's fun and it works, but I honestly feel he might be more confident in some ways now in s10, which is nice to see.
(side note—I think etho has some trouble with tone sometimes, where he really wants to make sure everyone's having a good time, but also he really wants to tease people. this works well with like Beef, who he's known a while, but especially in people he's known less he's quick to catch on if they take what he's saying too seriously, and clarify that he is teasing. it's nice to see tbh, just the clarity even with his audience)
speaking of llamas, I had not realized how recent some really big updates were. bamboo and pandas were new at the start of s7. the nether update came like halfway through?? I was more in the casual build side of mcyt at the time but man...I didn't realize how crazy that is to think about.
just...the way that etho visualizes builds is great. not just like, leaving space for farms, but filling in the spaces with a lot of details that make sense but also work with the space to cover anything it needs to AND to connect with the rest of the base. the sightlines thing is something I see a lot of other builders using but etho really uses them a lot in the Monstrosity in order to keep it from being Too Much as you walk through.
really just...he wants to have fun, and he wants to learn, and he wants to experiment and figure things out. if he can mess with some friends when he does it, that's a great bonus, yknow?
man. what a guy.

The rest of the day was dull. Nothing new had happened in the games. Coriolanus made his way to his home. Tonight was the night of the gala. Tigris had informed that she had finished making his suit but didn't show him how it was. It was a surprise. All he knew was that it was approved by you.
He reached his penthouse. He is greeted by Tigris with a hug and a smile. Coriolanus smiles back at his cousin for good measure. Trying to hide his nervousness about attending this prestigious gala that could make or break Snow's reputation.
Tigris excitedly shows him the red tux she had designed for him. Coriolanus wears the suit, and can't take his eyes off himself in the mirror. He looked good, there's no doubt about it.
His cousin has magic in her eyes. He tells her so and watches her eyes brighten up. “Oh, Coryo,” she said, lovingly, “It's because it's you that it looks so good.” Snow doesn't argue.
“And what about her?” He asked, “Did you make her dress the same as mine?” Tigris won't even let him see the designs. He can only imagine his heart would stop beating when he sees you. He wondered if Tigris was fine with that.
“You'll know when you see her,” Tigris giggled.
He sighs in response.
Tigris also adds, “She's the reason we still have this place, Coryo. Be kind to her.”
Coriolanus furrows his eyes. What did Tigris mean? “What?” He asked, his tone sharp. Snow didn't need pity money. And you being the one giving him dollars was salt in the wound.
“The payment for the dresses…” Tigris begins to explain, “It's enough for this month's taxes and a few weeks of food.” Coriolanus' mouth dries, he had completely forgotten about the eviction note. With everything going on, he supposed that it was natural. But Tigris had taken the burden herself while he was no help.
“I am glad,” he mutters, feeling heavily indebted to you. He didn't like the feeling. He lets it linger in the corner of his mind. He says goodbye to grandma’am and Tigris. Then he was on his way to the presidential mansion. You had said that you'd meet him there.
He reaches the presidential mansion. The press surrounded the area with cameras. He swallows as he realizes every moment of his is being broadcast live. Much like when he was in the cage with Lucy Gray. He doesn't let the flashes bother him. He already knew his outfit would be the talk of the show and it was a great opportunity to let Tigris's name out there.
He feels a tap on his shoulder. He turns around. That's it. He's dead. His heartbeat stopped. He forgot how to breathe.
There's no other way to explain his reaction to you.
His sun and moon. You looked marvelous. Enough so that his breath was knocked out of his chest. How did people speak again?
“Hello,” he gasps out, his cheeks burning. He ignored the urge to trace his soulmate's scar. He looks away from you, unable to meet your eyes. Too pretty. Too fucking pretty.
“Hi, Coryo,” you said, wrapping your arm around his. You both walk up to the stairs of the mansion. “Is everything alright?” You asked, a bit worried as he wasn't meeting your eyes.
“Fine,” he mutters.
You hum in response, turning back to the cameras. All waves and smiles. He forgets to do the same as he has eyes on you. He watches you like a lovesick puppy. Until it's time to enter the gala.
He doesn't let his anxious thoughts take over. He counts his breaths as he walks into the mansion. The gala was filled with people. Even higher-up district officials were invited. Several army officers with high standings and even the peacekeeper heads of each district were attending. There were also his classmates.
Clemensia Dovecote. Festus Creed.
They were all present. He could see the Plinth couple, but their son was missing. Quite the idiot to miss this opportunity. More for him, he supposed. He leaves you behind to greet his friends.
“Clemmie,” he grins.
“Well, hello, Coriolanus. It's nice to see your family finally has an invitation. It was about time,” she smiles.
Coriolanus doesn't correct her assumption. He doesn't tell her that he is here as your date. He didn't deem it necessary.
“Did you bring a date?” Festus Creed asked.
Coriolanus shrugged and said your name, he also added, “Well, she was available.” Festus raised an eyebrow at Coryo’s dismissive tone.
“What about the kiss in the auditorium? Several hearts were broken, Coriolanus,” Clemmie jokes.
Coryo bit the inside of his cheek. He wanted to say something. But the fact you're District was surely fresh in his classmates’ minds. Telling them you're something to him wouldn't be much help with his goal for the gala. So, he shrugged, “Ah… well, we're all foolish sometimes.”
His classmates let it go. And he was glad.
Coriolanus seemed to completely forget about you as Clemmie and Festus introduced him to several elitists of the Capitol. People he can never meet through simple means. Coriolanus greets them, making small talk. Every time he mentions Lucy Gray, they're impressed. Even more so when they realize he's the reason that they can make such a contribution to the games.
In the conversation, Dr. Gaul joins. “Hello, Mr. Snow,” she greets him. She turns to the circle he was chatting up. The people were both in awe and afraid of Dr. Gaul. Just like him. She easily takes control of the conversation. Coriolanus does what he does best. Let the conversation flow in the favor of Dr. Gaul. He adds to the glory of the games and how it is necessary. He thanks the elitists for their funding.
From the gleam of approval in Dr. Gauls' eyes, Coriolanus felt proud like he never had before.
He wants to tell you about this immediately! He wanted you to be proud of him too. He had acquired several business cards by now. He had made an impression on everyone he talked to. If he won the Hunger Games, he wouldn't have to worry about university. After tonight, he won't have to worry after university is over either.
It was all because of you.
He feels dread in his mind when he can't see you anywhere on the floor. He finishes his drink, and excuses himself cordially from the conversation. He searches for you before he notices the stairwell leading to the roof. He decided to take the chance of finding you there.
He turned out to be lucky.
He finds you near the metal rails. You were leaning forward, your body facing the city lights. You looked like a part of the city view. He knew he had messed up as he walked closer to you. He left you alone the moment he could. A date wasn't supposed to do that. He knew that! But he was sure you would be understanding. He needed to take advantage of this night.
That's why you brought him here, right?
“Dove,” he said, taking your attention away from the view of the bustling nightlife.
“I see you're making connections, pup.”
“Pup?” he questioned, his tone turning wary.
“Of course, a pup. A pet wagging its tail to an owner who doesn't give a shit. Dr. Gaul, she treats you like an obedient dog baiting you with treats. For her you're disposable, a dog to put down when you'll bite her hand. And here you are in the gala I bought you too, kissing her ass in front of everyone as if they can't see through her bullshit.” You take a deep breath, trying to control yourself, “She sent you to death a day before, Coriolanus! If you're gonna continue to kiss her ass like a mindless pup wanting treats, by all means go ahead.”
Coriolanus takes a deep breath despite the fact he was offended; he didn't wanna fight with you. Coriolanus opens his mouth- he's interrupted by you before he can even begin speaking. You turned to face him. Your eyes glaring at him with anger.
“Not only that! You’re not disposable, Coryo. And I hate how people treat you that way. I am the only one who thinks that way. I am the one you left behind. You ran to Clemmie the moment you saw her and did you know what Festus Creed said to me? He said that I am here as your date and it's because I was available!”
“I have done so many things for you! From rigging the assignment of tributes to proposing the destruction of District thirteen. I have damned my morals for you! I would burn the world for you. And all I get is… this! It's fucking not worth it.”
You don't let Coriolanus speak a word. You tried to walk past him in a hurry but Coryo held your arm and pulled you back. He effortlessly pushes you onto the railing and traps you in.
“Don't talk to me that way,” Coriolanus said, his eyes blazing, his mind confused and his tone dark. “I know what I did was wrong. You should be understanding. What I am doing is for my future. I don't have the time to waste this night like you.” He doesn't bring up the mention of you rigging the tributes nor the nonsense of district thirteen. He will settle this first.
He continues, “What I was doing, it was to be expected. This was too good of an opportunity to let go of. Don't act stupid, dove. Act rationally.”
You scoff at his face and he feels his anger increasing. “Rationally? If you were rational, you would have waited for me to introduce you to the people. Do you know the power I carry, Coriolanus? Yet because of your prejudice against my background, you didn't use me to your advantage. I served myself to you on a silver platter and you left me to rot. Don't talk to me about rationality, love.”
“It's not because of your-” Coriolanus shuts his mouth when he sees tears falling down your cheeks. “Real or not?”
“Don't talk to me if you have to ask,” you sob.
He pulls you in his arms. He cages you, letting you ruin the suit with your tears. Due to the deep red fabric, the tear stains wouldn't be obvious. “I am sorry,” he whispered, genuinely.
He remembered your former words.
‘It's fucking not worth it.’
He tightened his hold around you, imprisoning you. He can't believe he messed this up this bad. The worst is it was his fault. He runs a hand through your hair, trying to calm you down. He whispers sweet nothings and apologies until the rise of your chest is steady.
“It's true. I have held prejudice against your background,” it felt wrong to admit this out loud. Coriolanus repeats, “I am sorry, dove.”
“You haven't been district for a long time and it's wrong for me to hold it against you. You're Capitol, not by blood but by deeds. It's more than enough.”
You pulled back, away from his arms. He mourns the loss in his mind, he wants to pull you in again immediately. You wipe your tears away. “I'll forgive you if you publicize our romance today.”
His eyes widened in shock. He wants to yell no! But then he remembered, ‘It's fucking not worth it.’ He takes a shaky breath, steeling his mind. He can't eat his words now. “Fine, sweetheart. You can tell the public Coriolanus Snow is yours and that you are mine.”
The smile you give him reminds him of a fox. He vaguely feels like he has fallen into a trap he can't get out of. Webs after web, he can't even imagine. He shakes himself clear of these thoughts.
You held out your hand, “Then come on Coriolanus Snow, my partner let me introduce you to some people who will like you very very much.”
He takes it. In his mind, he knows he has to ask you about the rigging and about the district that ruined his life.
He dreads it.

I'm full of ideas, so I gift these prompts to you, Tumblr
Prompt Theme: Monetize Everything or Bad Ideas Some People Think Are Good Ideas
1. Pay-Per-Breath Air is privately owned, and only those who can afford premium oxygen get to breathe the good stuff. The poor are left to choke on recycled, polluted air. But the big lie? Fresh air isn’t scarce. It’s just hidden behind corporate greed. Your protagonist stumbles on the truth and must decide: expose it or cash in.
2. Sleepless Society
Sleep is for the weak.... or the wealthy. In this world, valuable billable hours are lost to sleep, so it’s been chemically suppressed for all but the elite. The rich buy “luxury sleep” packages in exclusive clinics, while the rest of society spirals into exhaustion-induced madness. Your character, desperate for rest, risks everything for a forbidden nap.
3. Memories Wanted. Lived Once. Pay Little. Memories are the final frontier of monetization. Sell your happiest moments for a quick buck, but here’s the catch: once sold, the government can alter or erase memories of anyone deemed dangerous. When your protagonist realizes their memories have been tampered with, they must uncover the truth about what they’ve forgotten.
4. New Identity, New You Embarrassed yourself online? Went viral for all the wrong reasons? No problem. For the right price, you can buy a new identity, face, name, history, anything. But when your protagonist discovers their new identity comes with a dark, dangerous secret, they realize starting over isn’t as simple as it seems.
5. Love on Loan In this society, emotions are rented like timeshares. Want to feel love for a weekend? Happiness for a day? There’s a subscription plan for that. But when your protagonist’s “trial period” of love ends, they’re left hollow, and they’ll do anything to feel it again, even if it means going into emotional debt.
6. Rent-a-Family Feeling lonely? Need a picture-perfect family for your social media feed? Rent one. But when your protagonist rents a family for a weekend getaway, they discover their “temporary” relatives have no intention of leaving. Maybe they’re not as fake as they seem?
7. The Silence Tax Talking in public spaces is taxed per word. Want to speak freely? That’ll cost you. The rich dominate public discourse, while the poor are silenced. When your protagonist finds a way to bypass the system, they spark a rebellion built on the one thing the government fears most: unregulated voices.
8. The Subscription to Live
Everything in life requires a subscription—water, shelter, even your heartbeat. Miss a payment, and the consequences are fatal. Your protagonist is behind on their “Life Subscription” and has 24 hours to find a way to survive without paying the price.
Hope you guys enjoy these. Let me know which ones you like, tag me if you get inspired and write, and feel free to suggest more or tweak these prompts!

We are literally facing the authoritarian future that John Stormer was warning us about back in 1964. Only instead of “communists” in the State Department, it’s a billionaire president with the avowed goal of ending union rights and locking up or using the Army with live ammunition against those who protest his policies.
Kirk and his followers essentially predicted in 1951 that if today’s “hairdressers and working tallow-chandlers” — college students, women, working-class people, and people of color — ever got even close to social and political power at the same level as wealthy white men, there would essentially be a communist revolution in the US, handing us over to Stalin and his Politburo. ... Wealthy white conservatives freaked out as the morbidly rich promoted the idea that America was experiencing a “moral decline” that could only be fixed by ending the union movement and other “liberal” causes that shared the union movements’ populist goals. They became convinced that they were seeing Kirk’s prophecy play out in real time on their television screens every night: the “communists” — those uppity racial minorities, women who’d forgotten their “rightful place in society,” students who objected to Vietnam, unionized workers, and gender minorities — were on the verge of “taking over” America.
Their plan was to declare war on labor unions so wages could slide back down again, end free college across the nation so students would live in fear rather than be willing to protest, and increase the penalties Nixon had already put on drugs so they could use those laws against their scapegoats, particularly the hippy antiwar protesters and Black people demanding an end to police killings. They also wanted to outlaw abortion, to put women “back in their place.”
Thus, Reagan massively cut taxes on rich people and raised taxes on working-class people 11 times. For example, he put income taxes on Social Security and unemployment payments, and put in a mechanism to track and tax tips income, all of which had previously been tax-free but were exclusively needed and used by middle-class people. He ended the tax deductibility of credit-card, car-loan, and student-debt interest, overwhelmingly claimed by working-class people. At the same time, he cut the top tax bracket for millionaires and billionaires from 74% to 25%. (There were only a handful of billionaires in America then, in large part because of previous tax policies; today’s democracy-destroying explosion of billionaires followed Reagan’s, Bush’s, and Trump’s massive tax cuts on the rich.) Reagan declared war on labor unions, crushed PATCO in less than a week, and over the next decade the result of his war on labor was that union membership went from about a third of the American workforce when he came into office to around 10% at the end of the Reagan/Bush presidencies. It’s just now beginning to recover from its low of 6% of the private workforce.

In February 2024, Columbia University Press informed me that it had sold the rights to my book on sanctions to a Russian firm that would translate it and sell it in Russia. I replied that I did not want sales of my book to support the Kremlin’s war machine, and my publisher agreed to cancel the contract. Last month, just before Christmas, I was stunned to see that a translated version of my book was a popular read in Russia. Columbia University Press had forgotten to tell me that it had not managed to cancel the deal.
My publisher had the right to sell my book to its Russian partner. My book contract allowed it, and most business in Russia by Western companies does not breach sanctions. However, what is legal may not be morally or economically sound. Western firms that continue to do business in Russia help Moscow finance the war in Ukraine through their payments of Russian corporate taxes. This is not even a sound investment: Nearly three years into the war, Western firms cannot repatriate the profits they earn in Russia, and the assets they own on Russian soil are not really theirs anymore.
Western firms’ continued business in Russia is not a marginal phenomenon. Data compiled by the Kyiv School of Economics and Ukrainian volunteers show that, as of 2023, around 800 multinational companies from Western and like-minded countries were still operating in Russia—either because they decided to stay or because they were still generating revenues there despite having pledged to leave. Combing through the data, two facts stand out. First, around 60 percent of those global firms that operated in Russia before the full-scale invasion began in February 2022 still continue to do so. Second, Germany, the United States, and France are—by far—the top three countries of origin for Western firms that retain a presence in Russia, accounting for around half of them.
Browsing through statements by Western firms explaining why they have decided to stay in Russia yields intriguing surprises: Many argue that their decision hinges on humanitarian reasons, either because they produce critical goods (like food) or because they feel responsible for the well-being of their staff and their families. Both arguments are easy to debunk. Russia is self-sufficient when it comes to food; in fact, it is a major exporter of many staples. What’s more, Western sanctions do not target Russia’s access to humanitarian goods like food, so an in-country presence isn’t required. The talking point about staff does not stand up to scrutiny, either. Russia has a massive labor shortage, with unemployment at record lows and alternative jobs more than plentiful.
What is undeniably true is that the hundreds of Western firms staying in Russia are helping Moscow finance the war in Ukraine. The data is eye-popping. In 2022 and 2023, firms from the G-7, European Union, and like-minded economies generated around $370 billion in revenues on Russian soil, which was more than Moscow’s military budget over the same period. In the first two years of the war, Western firms transferred more than $11 billion in corporate taxes to Russian state coffers, with Austrian bank Raiffeisen alone accounting for one-tenth of this amount. The data is not available yet for 2024, but a ballpark estimate suggests that Western firms probably paid another $4-6 billion in corporate taxes, bringing the total to roughly $16 billion funneled to the Kremlin since the invasion began.
Two data points help put this figure into context. First, $16 billion is enough for Moscow to pay for around 5,300 Iskander missiles, 1,100 Kinzhal ballistic missiles, or 320,000 Shahed drones. For comparison, Russia’s massive attack against Ukraine last Christmas used 78 missiles of various types in addition to 106 Shahed drones and decoys. Second, the amount Western firms have paid in Russian corporate taxes since the start of the war is roughly equivalent to Germany’s entire military, humanitarian, and financial support to Ukraine over the same period. But money is not the only measure. For Moscow, the presence of Western firms has substantial propaganda value, as it supports the Kremlin’s talking point that the Russian market is too important for Western firms to abandon.
It is clear that the moral argument convinced only a minority of Western firms to make a clean exit from Russia. At the start of the conflict, most Western firms prioritized the economic argument over the moral one, with revenues from Russia seen as too important or Moscow’s conditions for asset sales too unfavorable. Many Western businesses were also betting that if they could weather the war, then they would be in a better position than their competitors once sanctions are dropped and Russia reopens. This bet was a losing one for Western firms, as the Kremlin now controls their revenues and assets.
Take revenues first. Only a few weeks into the invasion in 2022, the Kremlin outlawed transferring dividends to headquarters in “unfriendly countries” a category that includes the United States, European Union, and the United Kingdom. The ban has been relaxed a bit since then, but conditions remain stringent; the transfers cannot exceed 50 percent of the profits of Western firms in Russia. Conditions are so harsh that even firms from “friendly countries” face headaches: Indian oil firm PSU, for instance, has no idea if it will ever be able to repatriate around $900 million in profits from its Russian operations. Things could soon get worse. With growing signs of strain in the economy, Moscow could well decide to impose full-blown capital controls.
With the Kremlin controlling access to their revenues in Russia, many Western firms initially assumed that a wait-and-see approach was the best option. In hindsight, this strategy was a losing one. In August 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree ensuring that Western companies could not sell their Russian assets without government approval; those operating in energy or finance would even need permission from Putin himself. One year later, the Kremlin nationalized the Russian assets of French food maker Danone and Danish brewer Carlsberg, with both firms losing all but a fraction of their assets’ value. With Moscow’s finances increasingly in the red, things took another turn for the worse in October 2024. A presidential decree mandated that Western firms exiting Russia could only recoup a quarter of their assets’ value at most: The Kremlin requires companies from “unfriendly countries” to discount the selling price of their assets by at least 60 percent, in addition to a 35 percent “voluntary contribution” to Russian state coffers.
In Russia, Western companies are running businesses that are not really theirs anymore. If the moral motivation was not compelling enough, the economic argument to leave Russia is now watertight. On my side, the Russian publisher of my book eventually agreed to stop selling it, although I have no way to check if it’s keeping its promise. Russian readers might be interested to learn that their purchase of my book serves a great cause, though. I have long given proceeds from worldwide sales to charities—initially the French Pièces Jaunes, which finances projects for hospitalized children. I have now switched to donating royalties to the Ukrainian government’s appeal to finance drones and robots for its military and generators for electricity-deprived schools.

What has she always meant to do, but never done?
Tumblr media
Nahi laid back on one of the lounge chairs she had bought at a second hand store on her porch, letting the sun warm her skin. The beading of the condensation on the water glass next to her marking the top of the small marble table, the drink forgotten as she read through a score, softly humming the song, the lift of her voice then tumbling down over a river rapid presentation into a slow, calm scene ending.
It was an opera her mother’s pianist had arranged for the Diva, really it wasn’t much of an opera as much as it was a showcase for her voice.  That didn’t stop it from being  a lovely piece, one that she had often dreamed of performing on a large stage, one like the one that had been assembled on the estate of the Viscountess Runewhisper, patron of the arts.
She had avoided all talk about performing opera when she was in Dalaran, it has been mentioned once or twice but she waved the thought away. That was when she was actively trying to conceal that her mother and her had survived Tempest Keep, protecting her mother from her uncle that would be happy to take advantage of the heir to the estate and the money from her performing, her mother was just to vulnerable to suggestion and it had taken time for her father to be declared dead so Nahi could put protective measures into effect and becoming her mother’s power of attorney and split guardianship with Irenthalas.
Now though? What was stopping her really? Soon people would know she was back, if they even cared, her House was so decimated by at least two generations of mismanagement that it was more of a money sink than anything. If she didn’t want control of the situation she had put into place to continue to protect her mother, she might never have come forth at all and just let the estate be taken for lack of payment of taxes, or just bequeath it to her cousin. The title meant nothing to her, she had stepped out of being Lady Summerhold, before she had taken the mantle of The Silver Banshee nonsense that Fredrick suggested for her stage name back when she had no idea how to find work in clubs.
It was the comparison that left hesitation among her thoughts, she was the daughter of the Diva and that meant the moment she attempted anything related to her mother’s performances they would start. Then doubt began to seep in, she was never professionally trained, had only been singing for a little over fifteen years. Could she do the piece justice?
Maybe opera could wait for a little while longer.
(Thank you for the ask Anon, sorry it took me so long)

What did the Spanish guy do that makes it a moral obligation to share his identity?
Google Spain v AEPD and Mario Costeja Gonzalez is the big case that established a variant of the right to be forgotten as a principle of EU law. (Technically the court rejected a formal Right to Be Forgotten, but enshrined a right for the subject of data to have it removed under various circumstances.)
Mario Costeja Gonzalez had his home repossessed and sold for tax debts in 1998. There was a newspaper announcement about it to solicit bids, and this announcement was eventually put on the internet.
In 2009, this was a top hit when you googled Costeja's name, which Costeja thought was unfair because it had happened a decade earlier. He asked the newspaper to pull the information down, and the newspaper refused because it was published by government order. So then Costeja wound up suing Google to require it to remove links to the data; he won his suit and Google was required to scrub links to that fact.
(Of course this did in fact Streisand; when you search the dude's name all the hits are about this case. But they're about the case itself, not about the fact that Mario Costeja Gonzalez had his home repossessed and sold in 1998 for delinquent tax payments.)

K’s rebranding continues. Posts a story about involvement in a youth cancer charity.
Hey K, we still haven’t forgotten about 2021 Astroworld.
Also, those of us with a non-profit background know it’s important to keep an eye on financial statements.
Why is this important to mention? Beware of wealthy people who issue press releases about charity work/donations as often it is a tax write-off. Also, more importantly, beware of wealthy people who point charities out without contributing anything or anything substantial (or, similarly pointing out a GoFundMe and asking others to contribute when she, a multimillionaire, could have just made a private payment to help the individual out).
Again, why mention? Because this sort of repeated behavior is the conduct of someone Timothee has chosen to publicly align himself with.
I saw that story . I mean they built a cancer center for young people, in any case this is a good thing. For the other things you said to me I knew Astroworld terrible tragedy but I don't know other about her fam

Common Mistakes to Avoid in Your Mortgage Assistance Application: Let’s Find Out
Applying for mortgage assistance can be overwhelming, especially when you're already dealing with financial stress.
As Benjamin Franklin said, "A small leak will sink a great ship," in the same way minor mistakes on your mortgage assistance application can lead to delays or denials.
Tumblr media
Missing documents, incomplete forms, or inaccurate financial details can hurt your chances of approval. Since mortgage assistance is designed to provide relief, it’s essential to approach the process carefully.
Understanding common pitfalls can help you avoid unnecessary setbacks and increase your chances of success. In this article, we’ll explore some of the most frequent mistakes applicants make—and how to prevent them.
Why Missing Just One Document Could Cost You Approval?
You’ve gathered most of the required paperwork and feel ready to submit your mortgage assistance application. But wait—are you absolutely sure you have everything you need?
Missing even one essential document can cause serious delays or, worse, result in an outright denial.
Lenders and mortgage assistance programs require detailed financial documentation to assess your situation. Some of the most commonly forgotten documents include:
Recent pay stubs or proof of income (especially if you're self-employed)
Bank statements from all accounts
Tax returns from the past two years
A letter explaining your financial hardship
If a single document is missing, your mortgage assistance application may sit in limbo while you scramble to submit it. Some lenders won’t even notify you—they’ll just mark your application as incomplete.
In fact, incomplete applications are a leading cause of mortgage application denials. (Freddie Mac).
How May This Error be Prevented?
Carefully review the document checklist before submitting your mortgage assistance application.
If you’re unsure about any requirement, ask your lender or program representative.
Keep copies of everything you submit in case you need to provide them again.
The Biggest Red Flags That Make Lenders Say "No"
Lenders and mortgage assistance programs assess applications based on risk factors. If they see anything suspicious or concerning, they may reject your application on the spot. Here are some red flags that can raise eyebrows:
Inconsistent Income Information: If your pay stubs, bank statements, and tax returns don’t match up, lenders may suspect dishonesty or financial instability.
Large, unexplained bank deposits: If you recently deposited a large sum of money without documentation, it may raise concerns about financial manipulation.
Frequent job changes: If your employment history is unstable, lenders may worry about your ability to make future payments.
High debt-to-income ratio: Even if you’re struggling financially, excessive debt compared to your income might make lenders hesitant to approve assistance.
These factors can make lenders view an application as risky, leading to delays or even denials.
While the mortgage rejection rate decreased by 2.5 percentage points in 2023 to 12.1%, it still remained higher than the 2019 rate of 10.2%.
(Federal Service Bank of New York).
This indicates that while progress has been made, numerous applicants still face challenges in securing approval.
How to Avoid This Mistake?
Double-check all financial documents to ensure they are consistent.
If you have large bank deposits, provide a clear explanation (e.g., a tax refund or insurance payout).
Be honest about your financial situation—lenders appreciate transparency.
By avoiding these red flags and ensuring accuracy in your application, you can improve your chances of a smooth approval process.
How Rushing Your Application Can Lead to Delays?
When you're under financial stress, it's tempting to submit your mortgage assistance application as quickly as possible. However, rushing can lead to careless mistakes, missing documents, and incorrect information—all of which can ignite delays in the process.
Common Errors Caused by Rushing Include:
Skipping important sections on the application form.
Forgetting to sign or date paperwork.
Providing outdated financial statements.
Submitting blurry or unreadable copies of documents.
In 2022, over 59% of violations cited by the Federal Reserve involved inaccurate collection of residential mortgage data, highlighting the prevalence of errors in numerous mortgage applications.(CONSUMER COMPLIANCE OUTLOOK)
A rushed mortgage assistance application often results in brutally long follow-ups, requests for missing information, and upheaval in wait times for approval.
How to Avoid This Mistake?
Take your time when filling out your mortgage assistance application—accuracy is more important than speed.
Review your application at least twice before submitting.
Ask a friend or family member to look it over for errors or missing information.
What Happens If You Enter the Wrong Information?
Honest mistakes happen. Maybe you typed the wrong income amount or accidentally entered an old phone number. But even small errors can cause big problems.
What Could Go Wrong?
Your application could be flagged for fraud if your financial details don’t match supporting documents.
Delays in processing could occur if lenders need to verify conflicting information.
You may receive an incorrect decision if the error leads to an inaccurate financial assessment.
For example, if you mistakenly enter your monthly income as $4,500 instead of $3,500, the lender may assume you have more financial stability than you actually do, potentially disqualifying you from mortgage assistance approval.
How Can You Avoid This Mistake?
Carefully review every section of your mortgage assistance application before submitting.
Compare the information you enter with your supporting documents to ensure consistency.
If you realize you made a mistake after submitting, contact your lender immediately to correct it.
Final Thought: Take Your Time and Get It Right
Applying for mortgage assistance applications is already challenging, but making avoidable mistakes can make it even harder.
By ensuring you have all required documents, avoiding red flags, taking your time, and double-checking your information, you can increase your chances of a smooth application process.

Unlock a Smooth Short Sale Process – Start with the Right Questions!
Are you ready to close your next short sale? At Short Sale Connection, we guide you through every step of the short sale process, ensuring you’re fully prepared to tackle any challenges. Start by asking your seller the essential questions that could make or break the deal.
Get in touch with us today at myshortsalelink.com and get the expert guidance you need to successfully close your short sale!
Answers are key when you're working with a short sale listing. By asking your seller the right questions upfront, you'll greatly speed up the process and increase your chances of closing those short sale deals. Contact the experts at **Short Sale Connection** to support you in working through the short sale process. Here are essential questions you should ask your seller in preparation for possible challenges:
1. Who is on the mortgage?
Ensure that everyone on the mortgage is cooperative and available to provide necessary documentation. Ex-spouses or other individuals involved may complicate the short sale process. To avoid unnecessary delays, confirm that all parties are on board. Your lender will require financial information from everyone listed on the mortgage.
2. Are there any additional liens or mortgages?
A short sale cannot be successful without clearing all liens or judgments. Ask the seller if there are any other liens, and check the title to confirm any other obligations. Be aware that some liens may not be apparent without a detailed search. At Short Sale Connection, we help identify potential liens that may impact the closing.
3. Has the seller had a loan modification?
It is also essential to ask if the seller has done a loan modification, because FHA loans may have an additional lien from HUD. Many sellers are not aware that a loan modification usually brings extra fees, missed payments, penalties, and filing fees, which are added to a separate lien. These fees must be paid in full to close the short sale.
4. Are there any judgments due to missed credit card payments?
Credit card debts can result in judgments against the seller, and these judgments will appear on the property's title. These outstanding judgments must be satisfied for a short sale to proceed. At Short Sale Connection, we recommend sellers contact the collection agency directly to gather information, including account numbers, to resolve these issues efficiently.
5. Is there any delinquent municipality fees, like Sewer/Trash or HOA fees?
Inquire with the seller whether they have arrears on municipal fees, including sewer, trash collection, or homeowners association dues. These are usually forgotten, but payment must be made to be eligible for a short sale.
6. Is the seller having federal tax lien issue problems or child support arrears?
Unpaid federal taxes or child support may raise additional barriers in a short sale. Make sure your seller reports any federal or state tax liens or child support obligations. These must be cleared prior to closing, and at Short Sale Connection, we can help guide you through the process of clearing these liens.
7. Has the seller filed or is currently in Bankruptcy?
If the seller has filed for bankruptcy or is currently in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy plan, it can impact the short sale process. You’ll need to gather the seller’s bankruptcy attorney’s contact information.
In Chapter 13 cases, the lender may require the bankruptcy attorney to authorize the short sale and coordinate the necessary motions. The process typically involves delays, so it's important to prepare your seller for the extra time required.
At Short Sale Connection, we provide a complete questionnaire to fill out all necessary information at the start of a short sale process. The more information you will have, the more prepared you'll be, and the greater is your possibility for closing the short sale.

Every year, billions of dollars go unclaimed, locked away in forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance payouts, and other financial assets. These funds often remain untouched due to address changes, neglected accounts, or misplaced paperwork. Thankfully, an Unclaimed Money Finder can assist in locating these assets and reuniting you with your rightful money.
What Are Unclaimed Funds?
Unclaimed funds are financial assets or money left inactive or uncollected for a certain duration. Unclaimed funds can stem from a variety of sources, including:
Dormant Bank Accounts: Savings or checking accounts left untouched for years.
Unclaimed Insurance Payouts: Benefits that were not claimed by their rightful recipients.
Overlooked Tax Refunds: Government-issued payments that were never cashed.
Forgotten Checks: Unredeemed wages, refunds, or dividend payments.
Abandoned Safe Deposit Boxes: Contents or money stored but later forgotten.
In many instances, if these funds remain unclaimed for too long, they are handed over to the state or the unclaimed money federal government for safekeeping. However, tracking and reclaiming this money can be challenging without the guidance of a professional.

Managing Finances as a Family Member Ages: Practical Tips for Loved Ones
Tumblr media
As our family members grow older, helping them manage their finances becomes increasingly important. Taking steps early can prevent stress and uncertainty later. This support isn’t just about managing money – it’s about helping our loved ones maintain their independence and quality of life.
Many families find it challenging to start conversations about money. However, waiting until a crisis occurs often leads to rushed decisions and missed opportunities. By planning ahead, both you and your ageing family member can feel more confident about the future.
This guide offers practical steps to help you support your ageing family member with their finances. Whether you’re just starting to think about this responsibility or are already helping manage day-to-day expenses, you’ll find useful information to make the process easier.
Remember that every family’s situation is different. What works for one person might not work for another. The key is to start early, communicate openly, and adjust your approach based on your family member’s needs and preferences.
By taking action now, you can help your loved one maintain control over their finances while ensuring they have the support they need. This guide will help you understand where to begin and how to move forward effectively.
Assessing the Current Financial Situation
Understanding your family member’s financial position is an essential first step. Start by gathering information about their income sources, such as pensions, investments, and benefits. Make a list of their assets, including property, savings accounts, and valuable items.
Next, review their regular bills and expenses. This includes:
Housing costs (mortgage or rent, council tax, utilities)
Insurance payments
Food and household items
Medical expenses and prescriptions
Transport costs
Entertainment and social activities
It’s helpful to look through several months of bank statements to spot patterns in spending and identify any recurring payments that might have been forgotten.
Having honest conversations about money matters can feel uncomfortable, but they’re necessary. Choose a quiet time when both you and your family member feel relaxed. Ask about their financial goals and concerns. Some helpful questions include:
What are their main worries about money?
Are they finding it difficult to manage any bills?
Do they have specific wishes for their savings or property?
Are there activities or items they want to ensure they can continue to afford?
Keep notes of these discussions and any important details you discover. This information will help you create a practical plan that respects their wishes while ensuring their needs are met.
Budgeting and Expense Tracking
Creating a clear budget helps everyone understand how money is being spent and where adjustments might be needed. Start with a simple list of monthly income and expenses. Many people find it helpful to use basic spreadsheet programs or budgeting apps to keep track of everything in one place.
For income, include all regular payments such as:
State pension
Private pensions
Benefits
Investment income
Rental income
Break down expenses into categories:
Essential costs (housing, food, utilities)
Healthcare expenses
Transport
Social activities
Subscriptions and memberships
Several free apps can make expense tracking easier. Apps like Money Dashboard or Emma work well for UK users. These tools can automatically sort expenses into categories, making it simpler to spot areas where costs could be reduced.
Consider setting up direct debits for regular bills to prevent missed payments. Many utility companies offer better rates for customers who pay this way. Keep all receipts and statements in a folder or take photos of them with your phone. This helps track spending and spot any unusual charges quickly.
Review the budget monthly at first, then every three months once patterns become clear. This regular check helps identify any changes needed and ensures the budget stays realistic and workable.
Legal and Administrative Preparations
Planning ahead for financial management is essential. Setting up a Power of Attorney (POA) allows a trusted person to handle money matters if needed. This arrangement can be particularly helpful if your family member becomes unable to manage their finances themselves.
Important steps include:
Gathering all account details and passwords in a secure place
Making a list of all regular bills and payment dates
Checking that key documents are up to date
Ensuring important papers are stored safely
Setting up online banking access if helpful
Keep copies of important documents and note their locations. This includes:
Bank account details
Insurance policies
Pension information
Property documents
Birth certificate
Marriage certificate (if applicable)
It’s wise to plan for various situations, including unexpected health changes. Having these preparations in place gives everyone peace of mind and makes managing finances more straightforward if extra support becomes necessary.
Planning for Long-Term Care and Unexpected Costs
Looking ahead to potential care needs is an important part of financial planning. Start by understanding the different types of care available and their costs. This might include:
Home modifications
In-home care services
Day centres
Care homes
Medical equipment
Research what support is available through the NHS and local council. Some people might be eligible for attendance allowance or other benefits to help with care costs.
Set aside money for unexpected expenses when possible. This could help with:
Emergency home repairs
Medical equipment
Extra care support
Changes to living arrangements
Unexpected bills
Consider speaking with an independent financial adviser about ways to make savings last longer. They can explain options for managing money over the long term.

Creating a Support SystemManaging finances shouldn’t fall to just one person. Creating a network of support makes things easier for everyone. Consider including:
Other family members
Trusted friends
Financial advisers
Community support groups
Regular family meetings can help everyone stay informed and share responsibilities. These meetings are good times to:
Review the current situation
Discuss any concerns
Share updates about bills or expenses
Plan for upcoming needs
Make decisions together
Keep good records of all discussions and decisions. This helps prevent misunderstandings and ensures everyone knows their role in providing support.
Conclusion
Taking care of an ageing family member’s finances requires patience, planning, and regular attention. Starting early gives everyone time to adjust and make thoughtful decisions. Remember these key points:
Begin conversations about money early
Keep good records
Create clear budgets
Plan for future needs
Build a support network
Review and adjust plans regularly
While managing family finances can feel overwhelming at first, taking it step by step makes it more manageable. Focus on open communication and regular reviews of your plans. Remember that asking for help when needed is a sign of good planning, not weakness.
By following these guidelines and adjusting them to fit your situation, you can help ensure your loved one’s financial well-being while maintaining their dignity and independence.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: When is the right time to start helping with financial management?
A: Start discussions early, ideally before any issues arise. Beginning these conversations when your family member is still active and independent allows for better planning and smoother transitions.
Q2: How do I start conversations about money without causing upset?
A: Choose a quiet, relaxed time to talk. Start with general topics like bill payments or pension updates. Keep the tone positive and focus on how you want to help make things easier for them.

A: Key documents include:
Bank account statements
Pension information
Insurance policies
Property documents
Birth certificate
Marriage certificate

Q5: How often should we review the budget?
A: Check the budget monthly at first, then every three months once patterns are established. Review more frequently if circumstances change.
Q6: What if my family member resists help with financial management?
A: Take small steps. Start by offering help with simple tasks like organising paperwork or setting up direct debits. Build trust gradually and show how your help can make their life easier.
Q7: How do we plan for unexpected costs?
A: Create an emergency fund if possible. Research available benefits and support. Consider care insurance options and keep some savings accessible for unexpected needs.

Unpaid or forgotten bills

A: Consider including:
Other family members

A: Create a simple filing system for documents. Use a spreadsheet or budgeting app to track income and expenses. Keep a diary of important financial dates and decisions.
Q11: What if we notice unusual financial activity?
A: Document your concerns. Discuss them calmly with your family member. Contact their bank if you suspect any issues. Consider setting up account alerts for unusual transactions.
Q12: How can we reduce regular expenses?
A: Review all bills and subscriptions. Look for better deals on utilities. Check eligibility for benefits and discounts. Consider setting up direct debits for better rates.
Q13: What financial support is available from the government?
A: Research:
Attendance Allowance
Pension Credit
Council Tax reductions
NHS continuing healthcare
Local council support
Q14: How do we balance independence with financial oversight?
A: Start with minimal involvement and increase support as needed. Keep your family members involved in decisions. Use tools like direct debits to maintain independence while ensuring bills are paid.
Q15: What are the key signs we need professional financial advice?
A: Consider professional advice if:
There are complex assets to manage
Long-term care planning is needed
Investment decisions are required
There are concerns about future money management
The financial situation is changing significantly

October 4, 2024
It's the day after Heartstopper released, and to say that I feel like how Nick and Charlie were during the first half is an understatement. I do this thing where after I watch something that is sad I take on that personality. Whether it's that I realize how shit my life is, or it's the kind of attention seeking where you think a camera is on you, and if you don't show signs of struggling then people might not take you seriously. Regardless, I have been feeling like shit.
Its been a long time coming, and I'm not so sure why I'm wondering where it came from. Money problems are the root of all evil, because how dare we give people a livable wage so that we can eat and pay rent. Insane.
Before I get into anything truly crazy, and if there are even any people that are going to be reading this (as I will post tags), I feel like I should introduce myself. My name is Anon, not that it's my actually name, it's just how you will refer to me. I am going to share as little information about myself as possible. It's the internet, and it's crazy at how obscure things can be traced back to you, and for some of the things that I wish to talk about, its better to have that barrier between my life and strangers online. Growing up on the internet you realize the comfort that can come from people not knowing who you are. My pronouns are they/them, though I really don't care. I am going to be turning 23 soon and I have 2 cats that will also remain nameless. That is all you get to know about me.
I truly don't know why I am writing this on the internet, I think I am just trying to live my best TV guru life where the star of the show is struggling, but it's only when they discover her hidden tumblr page do they realize the signs were all there. Not that I am going to do anything, like I said I have cats that need me and I need them. Can't imagine being anywhere without their presence in my life. I also want people to know that they're not alone, even if it's just one person who knows that another person is feeling just as shit as they are, that's all I want. Call it the older daughter, middle sibling treatment where we know how shit people can feel, and it was our job to put people back together (or to stay out of the way cause we were made to feel like we were always in the way). Truthfully the picking and choosing which sibling has the most family trauma from getting forgotten is all horseshit to me (though it is the middle one).
Anyways, now that that long intro is over, let's get into the main topic of the day. Heartstopper.
I align myself more with Isaac than I care to tell anyone really. It's not an easy topic to breach when you don't even know yourself. I've had crushes, sure, and I think it's why I really want a Solitaire spinoff is so we can see that kind of figuring out without the main topic being love. While I love the love!, it's also just as important as to see that not everyone wants that, or can even feel that. I have had crushes and boyfriends and one girlfriend, and I adore women and think I need to be committed to a woman to fully know if I do want that kind of thing in my life. I am completely okay with being alone, and if I am asexual and aromantic, I think I need to cover all my options. I think I'm more demi where I need to know someone for a long time before I can start loving them. Which sucks when that is not how society works right now. Its all "date someone and then tell them you love them a few months later", and that entire concept is just so weird to me. Like don't you date someone because you love them? Anyways, I think that is a huge part of why I am feeling this weight all over me.
Uncertainty hurts, and its alot of what I am feeling right now. I am scared for the future because I'm 23 and not in school, dropped out actually, I am in a minimum wage job, moved out, no car, and in debt already because of messed up taxes and being fired from 2 jobs this year, so I was on payments from the government that I have to give back, plus school loans that was all for nothing. So money issues, and then being lonely when I don't want to be, but I also am scared of being in a relationship because my last big and long one ended and I haven't been able to long another person like that since. Feeling like I am letting people down when I know that I am trying my best, but feeling like my best isn't good enough and I am one bad day away from a "we need to talk" conversation. No one tells you how hard it is growing up being in an environment of 'your best isn't good enough' and then being surrounded by people who just want to see you be the best version of yourself and wouldn't get upset with you for trying, and trying to rewire your destructive brain to accept that view. It's hard, and it's hard to have those conversations that showcase that you're trying, and then trying to self-therapize yourself while looking to websites and pinterest for quotes that make you feel better.
I've also been listening to Aurora, her music has really been helping me get through this time as her music makes me cry when I'm sad. It itches that part of my brain that just wants to run away from all the pressure of being someone. This world is so hard set on being someone, and if you fall anywhere short of that then you're treated as if you have failed life. And if you want to be someone, the realization that you're nothing but ordinary hurts. But, when I am feeling that way I look at the people around me, who would classify themselves as the ordinary, and I look at them and I see anything but. I see them being the reason that I keep trying to get better, and them being the literal light in my life. To me, they are anything but ordinary. I remember the little moments of someone that I look up to, a streamer that I've been watching for 2 years, and how every time someone tells him that he helps them get through the day and he treats himself as ordinary, but he's not. I think about how he knows my name in his chat, and that people in his fandom know me on social media, and are nothing but loving and encouraging, and that they are not ordinary either, and they create and put so much good into this world to even be classified as that. No one is just ordinary, but it doesn't help the voice in my head that is telling me that I am the only ordinary thing in this world. That all of my love in art and writing and reading and video creating amounted to nothing but unfinished projects.
I think I just need to get diagnosed and it will all be better, but I don't know what my insurance covers and no one wants to diagnose and overweight presenting-woman.
That's all I am going to dump about today. See you tomorrow, maybe not.
Just know you're not alone,

Backup Withholding, The Forgotten Piece of the 1099 World
Backup withholding, also known as backup tax withholding, is a federal requirement applied to payments made to independent contractors when their taxpayer identification number (TIN) is missing or incorrect. This withholding ensures income taxes are collected on these payments. It is required when a contractor’s TIN is not provided at the time of payment or in specific cases involving CP-2100 notices. If a contractor does not respond to a CP-2100 letter within 30 days, backup withholding must be applied to future payments. This withholding is reported on forms like the 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC. Despite its importance, the Treasury Inspector General has found that backup withholding errors occur over 400,000 times annually, highlighting significant compliance issues.
