this lia- any ff ideas come to mind?
pairing: lia x fem!reader
summary: lia always felt some kind of tension between you two.
contents/warnings: smut, minors dni. popular girl nerd dom!lia, fingering, hickeys, friends to lovers (or enemies to lovers idk), swearing/cursing, jealousy, please do not read if sensitive/uncomfortable with such themes!
genres: smut
word count: 1343
choi jisu always irritated you. she always was the best literally in everything. her toys were better, her grades were better, she got attention, everything you could think of. the competition between you over smallest things also had its place in your relationship since childhood.
choi jisu is undoubtedly the biggest challenge you has had to face throughout your life. you refused to share seats with her in classes, because you always thought you never deserved to sit beside someone you hate the most and whom you’re better than them. she also got attention from both sides, girls would always surround her or even follow around school and guys would wait for lia to come out of the class to ask for her number. she always had perfect grades and was best student, so it didn’t really matter to teachers about her make out sessions during lessons in somewhere in the hallway.
you aren’t jealous.
“just admit that you like her.” yuna hit your arm lightly, making you turn your head and furrow your brows. “oh, for fucks sake, it’s your hundredth time to say that.” you sighed, scrolling down your phone.
“once i accidentally came in when she changed and she hadn’t anything under her shirt and there was several hickeys on her chest.” okay, you’re jealous.
“what?” you turn your around so fast, your neck hurts a bit. yuna smiled at your reaction.
“i mean, who knows with whom she was that night. but, y/n, you won’t regret it. just go get her, even if it’s just one night stand.” you look away, trying to hide your thoughts. well, maybe you find her attractive as hell and maybe you would let her to do god knows what. maybe, you always been attracted to her.
thank goodness she wasn’t in the cheerleading group as you. you wouldn’t have handle more of her bossy attitude if she was. however, she could still interfere your trainings with her stupid attitude.
‘you’re doing not enough as a team captain’ she’d say. ‘i thought they were looking for a captain and not a looser’ or ‘you’re getting extra laps? are you even a captain?’ she’d almost yell in front of others and your team.
you hate her. jisu would always make you feel ashamed in front of others, but she would sometimes say something cheerful to you, or as she thought so. ‘you wasn’t as bad as yesterday, well done’ and her smirk on her face made you always feel irritated. even though, she knew that her praises affected you. you would label your blush as simply being flushed from the exercise, but knew she’s not gonna believe in that.
“you won’t regret it.”
maybe your idea wasn’t the brightest, but you still decided to check something. you told your friend to scare you for your own needs. thank goodness you at least had some acting skills.
you let out a sigh when you sat down on the bench after long training. you grabbed your water bottle and was about to finally take a sip when someone crept from behind. “boo!” your friend crept behind you and grabbed your shoulders. as she scared you, you missed your mouth and spilled water over your top. “fuck, eunju!” you slurred, looking down at your costume. to be honest, your uniform already didn’t left much to the imagination, and now you with your spilled water.
girls surrounded lia as she tried to listen to them rattling about something about her. the pretty loud voice draw her attention, making to turn her head to the direction the sound was coming from and she never regretted it. lia saw you scolding your friend for something, that she really didn’t wanted to know, your now soaked top got all her attention.
it would be a shame not to notice the attention you got each day. lia wouldn’t miss every word some girl or guy say about you near her or when she just sat in school field, watching cheerleading team. “you think y/n would accept my confession?” lia heard some girl from her encirclement say. “i think she’s very sweet person, so it’s a yes so far. i think you two would look cute together.” her friend cheered her friend, when you practiced some movements that lia couldn’t care less. “then i will confess to her right after her team finishes.”
“don’t you ever dare to confess to her.”
the girls stopped talking, turning their heads to lia. she gave them boring look, but she could still feel her heart beat racing. “why would you ever talk to her? she’s not your type. you deserve someone better.” lia said, turning back to the field.
the few seconds of silence didn’t stopped that girl from confessing, lia remembers that. she watched that girl walking up to you and shyly look away from you as she probably confessed. lia was okay with that, whatever. but your warm smile, addressed to that girl made lia almost come out from her spot and stop you two right there. thankfully, you rejected her.
blinking twice, lia shook her head, as you stood up to leave the field.
sighing, you entered the lock room, wanting to change your clothes when you heard someone entering room right after you. you was about to turn your head when you were pinned against a locker with jisu inches away from your face.
“you’re doing it on purpose, don’t you?” jisu said, her hot breath touching your lips. “i have no clue what are you talking about.” you whispered, leaning forward as you rest your forehead on hers. “you’re a big distraction, you know.” jisu growls out when you pulled her closer by her waist. “a big one.” you whispered again, you smirked, knowing well that you have power over her, even though she used to be the one who rules.
finally, jisu leans forward and connects your lips. you couldn’t even think that her lips would be so soft, too soft for your liking. your soaked crop top still on you, so jisu made you shiver when her hands cupped your breasts, playing with your nipples. you let her hand trail down, now only one hand groping her. letting lia’s hand guide lower until it slides under your waistband and meets your heat between your legs.
“oh my-“ you breathed out. “is this all caused by me?” jisu whispers as she explores with her fingers, rubbing gentle circles over your clit and before you could answer her something jisu slid her fingers in, receiving an exhale from you.
brunette connect lips with yours and moans of the feeling of you being wet and so warm around her fingers. “jisu…” you parted away, breaking the kiss as you moaned out. jisu’s slender fingers starts thrusting at a faster pace.
“you always distract me.” lia whispered, as she rubbed your clit with her thumb. “always?” you moaned out through your jagged breath, feeling heat building in your stomach. “you have no idea for how long i’ve been waiting for this.” jisu says as she goes faster each thrust. “oh my god, jisu, please-“ you breath out, as the pleasure building in your lower half snaps, jisu kissing you to muffle your moan.
you moan in lia’s mouth as she slowly starts to slow down her thrusts until she stops. you breath minute or two in silence, resting your forehead on hers, lia’s hand is brushing through your locks as she left soft kisses on your neck.
jisu helped you to finally change your top as you sat down on the bench. she lent her hand to help you stand up and laugh as you stumble a little. “i would like to see you like this more often.” she says, as she unlocks the door. “does that mean you wanna do it again?” lia’s hand rests on your waist.
“it means that i want to take you out for a date at first and that i like you, not just for one night stand.”

[ 성훈 ] BLOWING UP MY HEART ꒰ P.SH x F!READER
016. L party | smau + written (625 wrds)
IN WHICH ?! — Y/n falls down a flight of stairs, breaking her leg. The first thing she does is blow up her friends phone hoping she’d come and find her but fails to notice she accidentally texts an old groupchat with Ahn Seongmin, Huh Yunjin, Hirota Maki, Wang Nicholas, Kim Minji and Park Sunghoon, her ex boyfriend. The friend group broke in half after the two had broken up, sides were made and promises were broken.
“Do we actually have to go to the party?” Y/n groaned, “No one’s gonna miss us.” Y/n was batting her eyelashes as she looked at Sunghoon. “Y/n-ah, flirting with Sunghoon isn’t gonna make him change his mind.” Seongmin said.
“Sorry, Y/n. I promise we can open gifts after, we’ll only be there for a few and then leave to get the kids back home.” Sunghoon sheepishly smiled.
“The kids?”
“Well— how else do you wanna describe Riki, Hanni, Maki, and Dani?” Sunghoon shrugged his shoulders. “You’re right.” Nicho muttered. “I’m always right, Nicho.” Hoon sighed and patted Nicholas back as the group were about to walk into the party.
“Let’s go.” Sunghoon said, walking ahead of everyone as if he was the lead actor in a movie. “Who does he think he is?” Minji chuckled. The rest followed him.
“Hi guys! You made it!” Sujin greeted the group. Yun Eunju standing by her side looking down at the floor. “Say hi to our guests, Eunju!” Sujin said. “H-Hi guys.” She stuttered.
“Hey, thanks for the invite.” Sunghoon awkwardly smiled, “Of course!” Sujin smiled and waved as the group walked off.
“I invited Sunghoon, not Y/n.” Her smile dropped. “You should drop this, Sujin…It’s been years and you’re still obsessed?” Eunju said in a questioning tone.
“Don’t tell me what to do, he’s the one for me— I just know it.”
“Whatever you say, just don’t get me caught up in your shit again.” Eunjin scoffed and walked away.
“God, she’s so annoying.” Yunjin rolled her eyes. “Who, Sujin?” Nicholas asked. “Who else?” Y/n said, “She’s been on my back for years.”
—
“Oooh! Finally!” Y/n clapped her hands as she sat down in front of her gifts in a circle with her friends. “Riki, you go first. You’re the youngest.” Jay said, “We’ll go from youngest to oldest.”
Heeseung groaned. “I hate being the oldest.”
Y/n enjoyed this, she enjoyed hanging with her friends for the holidays. She missed this, missed hanging out with them. Missed Minji, Nicholas, and Sunghoon.
Happier now that she’s got a bunch of new friends to spend more time with.
“That one’s mine!” Y/n said, Sunghoon holding the small box. “Better be good.” He teased, unwrapping it. Pulling a charm bracelet out.
“A charm bracelet, with charms and meanings.”
“A rose, for La Vie En Rose.” Y/n giggled, “I know how much you love izone.” She said, Sunghoon is going through the other charms. “Skates, for ice skating. A camera, for photography. A shooting star, for— that night.”
That night.
Sunghoon remembers it perfectly. The night the two saw a shooting star, wishing a happy future for the two.
“Hopefully it’ll come true eventually.” Y/n smiled, “In the future I’ll buy more for you.”
“Ew— I feel like I shouldn’t be here.” Riki interrupted the moment. “Don’t worry guys, I got us all matching charm bracelets— with a single charm, a little cheer cone because we met each other during the pep rally.” Y/n pulled out a bag and handed out charm bracelets to everyone.
“You know how to make people cry, Y/n.” Yunjin said as she started crying.
“You’re so dramatic, Yunjin.” Y/n chuckled and then her face dropped as she saw everyone wiping their face. “No, this is really sweet and sad, Y/n.” Sunghoon sniffed.
“YOU EVEN HAVE SUNGHOON CRYING.” Minji said in between her sobs. “I love you.” Minji said as she tackled Y/n with a hug, soon everyone did as well.
“I’m committed to this friendship, you guys should be too.” Y/n muffled.
“Next year we should do secret santa. I’m kinda broke.” Y/n said.
Next year.
Hoon smiled.

"Bungee Jumping With You" Ren - "Tears overflowed from finding value during a difficult time" (X-Sports News - X's Interview 1)
[source - This is the first part of a three-part interview. Part 2, Part 3]
In the aftermath of the film's release in 2001, the musical Bungee Jumping of Their Own intensifies its emotions through lyrical numbers.
This time, former NU'EST member Ren, who was bursting with talent and energy in the musicals Jamie and Hedwig, enthusiastically plays the main character in a love that transcends time, space, and death.
"I didn't know much about Bungee Jumping of Their Own. I heard about it for the first time when I got the offer, so I looked up the movie. It was a fresh story and also quite shocking. So I thought about it a lot. I worried about whether I could understand and pull off the character of Hyunbin. And the practice required for that was really difficult, since it gets more difficult and confusing the more you get into a character. I wondered if what I was doing was right.
In the end, I understood Hyunbin's feelings and had a good performance. During the curtain call after the first show, the fans and the audience members clapped and cheered, and I couldn't help but tear up. I cried so much. It felt like I'd gotten something of value from a difficult time. Even now, somehow I still get emotional."
Bungee Jumping of Their Own, which had its first show in 2012, was the first production resulting from the harmonious composer and writer combo of Maybe Happy Ending's Will [Aronson] and Hue [Park]. It received the award for Best Music in the 18th Korea Musical Awards and the award for Best Composer/Writer in The 7th Musical Awards.
"It's a really beautiful show. The songs are so good and the actors are all amazing. Everyone has good chemistry and it's a very emotional production, so I wish many people would come see it," Ren said confidently.
The film of the same name, featuring impressive performances by Lee Byunghun and Lee Eunju, subverts the structure of the typical melodrama by presenting a mysterious love that overcomes gender and even death. The musical faithfully follows the events of the movie.
"My first thought was that Lee Byunghun-sunbaenim acted so well. I kept getting overwhelmed with emotions as I watched it. I thought, he's not Lee Byunghun for nothing. He was a great actor even back then.
The way people interpret the conclusion depends on each person, but I personally think it was beautiful. Same-sex relationships used to be taboo back then, right? So I think that was the only choice they could make. I think they both made that choice with the belief that there is such a thing as reincarnation, that they could meet again. 'This way, I'll see you again, I'll love you again.' It was a really thought-provoking film."
In 1983, university student Inwoo shared a love with Taehee, who he felt was his destiny after she took cover under his umbrella. But Taehee passed away in an accident, and seventeen years later, Inwoo, now a Korean language teacher, is confused when a high school student, Hyunbin, reminds him of Taehee.
"While watching the movie three or four times, I kept referencing the character of Hyunbin. Not just Hyunbin, but I have to understand the whole production so I can express it well. So I watched it many times. Since I'm playing Hyunbin, I can't help but focus on him. While observing how the actor (Yeo Hyunsoo) carried out every emotion and tone, I followed what he did and practiced a lot. Hyunbin is completely different from Taehee in gender, appearance, and age, but her reincarnated self is in him. Since I have to figure out how to relay his story of deep connection and love, he's not an easy character to play.
"I thought I did well, but that was just pride," Ren confessed.
"The person who made me realize that is Choi Yeonwoo-noona. Hyunbin has to appear like Taehee, so if it doesn't appear that way, she said that the actors who play Inwoo will have a hard time too. My hyung-nims were really kind and respected me as an actor, so they didn't want to tell me because they thought I might feel hurt.
Yeonwoo-noona is an honest person. She didn't really care about those things and she told me about it because she thought it might help me. I listened to her say that it would be good for me to understand and analyze [the role] some more, and to think about it some more, and I really did think about it a lot at home.
Yeonwoo-noona's words really hit me hard. It was like I was missing the most important part. I worried so much that I even dreamed about it. I observed my noonas a lot. During practice when the noonas would be rehearsing, I could actually rest too. But I went to the center and kept studying how to move my hands and how to speak."
Ren's effort paid off. The actors were touched by his performance.
"After that rehearsal, everyone gave a standing ovation. They said they saw how hard I worked. Yeonwoo-noona watched that rehearsal and cried, too. I thought, this is really fun. it felt great to think about how I'd grown, and seeing these amazing actors moved to tears by my performance made me feel acknowledged."

give you the world | park jinyoung
genre : angst, fluff, marriage
starring : jinyoung x reader
synopsis : 2 years of marriage, you only see all the rainbows, spending every moment with him until both of you and your husband, Jinyoung decided to pay a visit to his sister, who just gave birth. When you see the unfamiliar happiness on his face when he carries his nephew, you realize he craves something from you — a baby.
words count : 7144 words
This is for the request from @vouisluittontrash xx sorry if it’s bad, hope you like it.
**
“Babe, do you think this is enough for her?” you ask Jinyoung while taking a few look at the set of babies clothes in your hand. Jinyoung, who is packing some of his stuff from the back seat, glances at your confused face before giggling.
“Of course, Eunju will love those,” he says, continue to dig on his stuff at the back seat.
It’s weekend afternoon where both of you and your husband, Jinyoung decide to come to the hospital to pay a visit to his sister, who just gave birth to a baby boy yesterday. You still remember how Jinyoung squeals in excitement, running to you at the kitchen, along with his phone in his hand, with the brightest smile he ever had on his face.
You clearly can recall how happy and excited he was—telling you that he finally becomes an uncle, and you finally becomes an aunt to such a beautiful baby boy. A dream that he has been wanting to achieve—even before he asked you to marry him. You chuckled at his reaction. Honestly, you didn’t know he would be that happy. That happy. Like a little boy just got his candy. You’re not sure how to describe it but he was really happy.
And now, both of you are here, getting ready before coming inside the hospital.
“I think i’m going to buy some more presents. Perhaps, a stroller or baby seat,” you mumble as you adjust the make up that have been plastered on your face along with the blouse, that have been wrapping around your body. It’s just something casual and appropriate for a hospital visit.
Jinyoung hums, agreed to you before closing the back door to get back to the driver seat, as he peeks at you.
“That’s a good idea, baby. Now, let’s go. The baby is waiting,” he grins boyishly, showing off the crinkle in the corner of his eyes, making you chuckle at the sight. Sure, you’re confused whether he is that baby or the baby is that baby. You nod at him before taking your leather purse from the dashboard along with the huge gifts that almost making your figure disappear from the sight. Steps are taken before you close shut the car door and coming closer to your husband as he locks the car.
He smiles at your struggle, making him urges you to pass the baby’s gift for him to hold. With an open heart, you pass the set of clothes to him and take his warm hand in your hand before both of you slowly make a way to the inside of hospital.
Honestly, you hate being in hospital. You used to like hospital when the dreams of being a doctor developed in yourself but as you grew older, you hate being here. The smell, the environment, the atmosphere—they suffocate you so much. To be exact, you fear hospital. You’re not sure when did it start but you’re positive it happened when you once involved in accident before. You’re scared of being hurt again. It leaves traumatic memories but for sure, you still have the courage—for your nephew.. Jinyoung knows about it and he will make sure you would feel safe being here.
When you come inside the hospital, Jinyoung glances at you while tighten his hand around yours, to make sure you’re alright. Looking at his soft smile, you nod and convince him that you’re okay. Whatever it is, Jinyoung has been really excited for his nephew ever since yesterday, he wants to see that baby so bad—you can’t be a whiny bitch and ruin this day. Besides, hospital isn’t that bad if you are acting cool about it.
“Excuse me, may I know where is Park Eunju’s room? She just gave birth yesterday,” Jinyoung speaks to one of the receptionist at the counter while you wait for them to find the room before both of you and Jinyoung could go.
“It’s 311-A, sir,” she smiles at Jinyoung and you as she explains the location of the room.
You thanked her, following Jinyoung to find the room. You start to imagine how the baby would look like. How Eunju, Jinyoung’s sister condition after giving birth. The best food you would want to cook for her to recover well. The best massage place for her sore body—so many things.
His sisters have been so nice to you—since you grew up with brothers, they are the reason for you to feel how it feels like to have a sister. It’s weird because you were stranger to begin with but Eunju and Jinyeon are very warm and friendly—making you feel very much accepted into the family.
Jinyoung make you feel loved but they made you feel more than that. They remind you so much about Jinyoung. Very supportive and lovely. Of course, you want to give something for Eunju—at least.
Your mind start to linger around, without noticing that you finally reach the room. It’s a VIP room, making it located quite far from the standard room. You’re not complaining—it would be easy for you to squeal and become chaotic with the baby. Thinking of it, it makes you jump in thrilling feeling.
Jinyoung looks at you before he knocks at the door, which receives attention from Eunju’s husband, his brother in law.
The door opened and as you imagined—they welcome both of you, warmly.
“Finally, you guys are here. Come inside,” Jaebeom, Eunju’s husband opens his arms, pulling Jinyoung into his embrace before making some space for you to come inside. You smile at him, stepping inside the huge room carefully as your gaze starts to trail around the room.
From the door, you can see Eunju is laying on the bed along with the wires from the machines and water bag over her head, like you usually see when it comes to hospital.
Eunju definitely looks weak and fragile when she looks like she has lost so many blood from her face, leaving her to look pale and sick. With the wires and tubes along her arms, she lays there while smiling at you despite being weak and defeated.
“You guys are here,” her voice becomes hoarse and raspy—very unlike of her. She has the sweetest voice ever and Eunju probably have lost it due to the endless screams while giving birth—it breaks your heart a little. Eunju isn’t dying or anything but it breaks your heart to see her, looking that defeated and weak when she has been really bright person.
You comes closer to her bed and look at her with sincerity. She manages to put on some smile even you know her body sore a lot.
“Is everything good? I’m here with Jinyoung,” you whisper while sitting on the chair while rubbing her arms. Eunju chuckles weakly before nodding, probably she knows about it.
“I know. Thank you for coming. You guys must be really busy with works,” she speaks, adjusting the position so she could look at you more clearly. You shake your head, still rubbing her arms softly, to give some strength to her. Before you could speak, Jinyoung stands beside you.
“Noona, is everything good?” his voice is so soft and reassuring while sending her a very concerning gaze. For some reason, it makes Eunju chuckles a little, leaving you confused.
“I’m alright, guys. I’m not dying, I only gave birth,” she chuckles along with the raspy voice. You frown a little before bursting into laughter. Both of you and Jinyoung must be acting like someone is dying. You nod at her. Jinyoung smiles.
“Alright. But, how is your body feeling? Is it still sore?” you ask while giving some soft massage on her legs. Eunju whines.
“Yeah, still. It hurts so bad, I can’t sleep at night,” she pouts. Jinyoung scrunches his nose at her.
“Do you plan to go to get a massage when you discharge? I can help you with that, I know a good place,” Jinyoung adds as he put the gifts on the small desk beside the bed, making Eunju’s face lit up at the sight of the beautiful and cute baby’s clothes. You smile at her reaction—she likes it.
“That’s fine. I think Jaebeom already set it for me but thank you,” the 30 years old woman changes her position from laying to sitting. She winches a little bit when there is a sudden pain on her lower body, probably from the sore contraction and stitching yesterday.
For some reason, looking at how hard she struggles to adjust her body to the throbbing pain in her body and tingly ache under the skin, it suddenly makes you feel scared. You don’t know why it scares you but you know how difficult it is to carry such blessing for 9 months then to get your body open, to bring the mini you out to see the world.
“But, where is the main star?” Jinyoung raises his eyebrow at his sister as he glances at her side to find nothing close to his nephew. He comes for the baby but the baby is no where at the sight, what kind of sorcery is this?
“The main star is out for check up. He will be here soon, you impatient brat,” Eunju fake hurt at him for only wanting to meet the baby, not her. But, deep inside, she knows everyone is for the baby. Not gonna lie.
You and Jinyoung giggle at her remarks—It’s interesting to see how Eunju still keeps her usual self even being that weak. Your nephew definitely have a very chick mom.
“Baby, I’m going out for awhile with Jaebeom to buy lunch. Is there anything you ladies want?” he pokes your shoulder, taking you back from spacing out to the reality. You almost flinch before you look up at the handsome Jinyoung.
“Dumpling soup!” Eunju squeaks like a little girl while wiggling her feet that have been wrapped with socks. Jinyoung nods while chuckling as he looks back at you, waiting for the response. You immediately shake your head.
“Anything would be fine for me,” a smile appears. Jinyoung sends you back his infamous grins before patting your head—like he usually do when he finds you being cute. You immediately whine at his gesture as he leaves you and Eunju behind—with laughter filling the room.
Now, the huge space is now empty—leaving you and Eunju, looking at each other.
Eunju chuckles while looking at your pouty face.
“Jinyoung is annoying brat, I know. Thanks god I wouldn’t have to cope with that anymore,” she scoffs jokingly, taking a hot green tea from the desk before sipping it slowly. Her forehead frowns at the bitterness. She sure hates green tea but what can she do? Recovering from giving birth is one of the difficult thing. You shake your head, disagree with her.
“Please take him back,”
Both of you burst into hysterical laughter—changing the gloomy atmosphere that have been filling the room. The next second, you bring your gaze all over the room, inhaling some air before looking back at Eunju—who has been staring at you with some kind of gaze. She looks like she is waiting for you to say something since you behave unfamiliarly ever since you come here.
Not going to lie—ever since you come here and see how weak she has become after giving birth—there is a weird feeling in yourself. You have no idea what it is but it’s definitely not a happy feeling—not uneasy either. That feeling grows when you witness that bright smile plasters all over her face—like those pain and uncomfortable state do nothing to her. How can someone smile like that when she just got her body ripped? It tingles your body.
It makes you realise—women are amazing. To be exact, moms are so amazing. You’re not sure if you are included.
Silence starts to build between you and her before you speak again.
“Congratulations for having a baby, unnie. You don’t know how loud Jinyoung’s scream was, when he knew he has become an uncle,” you take her cold hands in yours—softly massaging the skin as you adjust the blanket all over her body. Eunju nods along that sweet smile she has been carrying with her lips—resemble your husband.
“Jaebeom couldn’t stop crying yesterday when he saw the baby. He just stands there at the corner and cry for hours. I don’t know what happened to these men, they’re such a baby sometimes,” her body vibrates with joy when she recalls the unforgettable moment yesterday. Her eyes sparkle thousand times—more than you have ever seen her before. You definitely can see happiness in her eyes.
That happiness that comes from nothing but her baby. You wonder, how does it feel like?
Even blind people can see that. Exaggerating but it’s true.
You inhale some air, giving your full attention to her while she is ranting everything about yesterday. From the moment she felt sudden contractions in her stomach while she was doing the laundry—to the moment she screamed from the bottom of her lungs while Jaebeom carried her to the emergency room—to the moment she felt like she was dying as she pushed her sweet heart out of from the belly to see the whole world—also to the moment her eyes become swollen from crying like a river when both of her and Jaebeom finally touched that soft skin after 9 months of patience.
The more she speaks, the more beautiful it sounds like to your ears. It feels like journey that wouldn’t get erased from Eunju’s memories.
Nod, smile, chuckle and giggle starts to fill the room.
Before she could speak any longer, the door creaks slowly, which is taking your attention from her. You turn your head to look back at the door before you see the familiar faces— faces that you haven’t seen since 2 weeks ago.
You scream in excitement as you turn the heels to come to the door to welcome them. Jinyoung’s mom stands there, her eyes crinkle along the sweet smile across her lips as you bring her to the embrace, tighten the hug. Mr. Park cracks a soft smile as you pull him into your embrace.
“How have you been, sweet heart?” Mom asks while rubbing your back warmly, giving you such a motherly look like she always do—your parents in law are always warm and loving to you, making you feel like the real daughter. Everything about this family is beautiful. You nod and smile at both of them, reassuring them that you have been doing alright.
You take the fruit basket from dad’s hand as you put it on the small table at the open space, far from the bed before you come back to the side of bed.
A squeal starts to come out from Eunju’s mouth when she sees her mom—a person she needs the most at time like this. You stand there at the side of bed, looking at both of them hugging each other—mother and daughter. A soft smile cracks on you smile at the sight.
The next second, tears prick on Eunju’s eyes when the woman pulls her to the tightest embrace—congratulating her for the first born, telling her how she finally becomes a mom, how she has another responsibility, more than just a wife. She has a child to take care of now. Both of them cry—more like happy tears. It leaves you with no words.
For some reason, you heart clenches at the sight. It’s weird, because when you were younger—those words work nothing on you but when you grew up—you saw the world with responsibility—then you got married to Jinyoung, you start to realise that you’re no longer that same young girl 10 years ago.
You have Jinyoung now. You’re someone’s wife. Which means, your phase of life will be changing at times.
Across your eyes—you see yourself in Eunju’s place. A sudden unfamiliar tingles start to take over your body at the thought, making you stand there, like a static figure. Pregnant.
How does it feel like to be pregnant?
You almost lost in your thought before the door creaks again, making you trail the gaze at the person who is standing there. You thought it was Jinyoung but when you realise it’s the nurse—you see the stroller that is coming inside the room.
“The baby is here,” the tall nurse speaks softly as she pushes the stroller inside, to Eunju’s side—to the baby’s mom before she excuses herself, leaving everyone speechless at the sudden presence of tiny figure. Gasps left both mom and dad’s mouth when the small figure is there, inside the stroller.
You come closer to her side and immediately feel like something just caught your heart—as fast as light.
He is beautiful. That soft and thin skin look like cotton clouds along with the hint of pink under his skin—making you can’t help but adore every inches of it. His fingers, they are so small, wrapping a small piece of blanket around that miniature body. Small pointy nose, plump lips, chubby cheeks—the baby resembles both Jaebeom and Eunju a lot. He is gorgeous. Indeed gorgeous. Your heart aches in adoration.
You crack a smile when he makes the tiny sound—you didn’t understand but you agree.
“Eunju, he is beautiful,” Mom squeaks, rubbing her pinky finger on his squishy cheeks softly as the tears prick on her eyes. Her soft heart sure can’t take it when that small baby is there—looking so cute and beautiful at the same time. That small baby is there—her grandchild.
“He resembles you a lot, unnie,” you speak, staring at him which receives a nod from dad. Eunju chuckles.
“I think he looks more like Jaebeom. He has been claiming it since yesterday,” she pouts before bursting into laughter again as she pats her son slowly. Looking at him with so much love and adoration.
Three of you chuckle. When the baby moves and makes tiny sound, another soft squeals fill the room as they can’t help but feel excited at the cuteness. Is this how it feels like to have a child? Your own child? You wonder.
The next second, Jinyoung and Jaebeom come with the lunch, making the room becomes more chaotic and livelier when Jinyoung screams in joy the moment he sees his tiny nephew in mom’s arms.
That smile—it looks exactly the same like yesterday. You stare at him quietly. Jinyoung’s eyes spark with some kind of new happiness that you’ve never seen before. It’s nothing less or more but it’s different. It’s different kind of happiness you’ve never seen before until today.
The way Jinyoung made soft sound when the baby wraps his finger with that small hand—the way his body vibrates with laughter when he couldn’t help to squish those chubby cheeks—the way a soft smile cracks on his lips while stroking the baby’s skin.
He looks happy, very happy. That unfamiliar feelings start to hit you deeper than anything. Looking at how bright Jaebeom’s face is when they’re talking about the baby, it reminds you of Jinyoung.
You want to give the same happiness to him.
When you hear Eunju calls your name, you immediately bring your gaze to her. You didn’t realise you have been spacing out until now.
“Do you want to hold the baby?” Eunju says, making you to look at her son in her arms, sleeping peacefully in his mom’s embrace. You smile at the sight and nod—even deep inside, you’re nervous. Anxiety and nervous start to take over your system when Eunju slowly pass her son to you as you hold him into your arms.
The moment when you secure the soft creature inside your embrace—you can’t help but feel overwhelm at the close up. This feeling, you’ve never felt before but it starts to make you confused because it’s very odd and unfamiliar. You rub his cheeks and it feels like cotton, very soft and light, making your heart feels painfully happy.
Why are you feeling this way suddenly? What is this feeling? your chest feels heavy and uneasy because of something unknown. You swear to god, you don’t have any idea what it is but it sure hits you deeper when you look at this baby. He is beautiful. Pretty. Gorgeous. Breath taking.
“Isn’t he beautiful?” suddenly, Jinyoung scoots to your side and whispers. You lowered your gaze at him and there he is— staring at you with his brightest eyes. Heart clenches.
You nod slowly before looking back at your nephew in your arms.
For no reason, you start to feel overwhelming and emotional at the sight which is making your heart breaks a little.
A child. Jinyoung loves children. So much.
It’s been 2 years since you walked the aisle as you vowed to give all of you, to him. You didn’t know Jinyoung would ask you to marry him that soon but when you saw that eyes—they spoke thousand love and million adoration, you immediately said yes. There wasn’t hesitation when you nodded along with the tears pooled on your eyes, telling him that you were ready to give everything. Everything.
None of the moments you’ve spent with him leave any trace of regrets. Jinyoung has been that kind of person who would bring you to his embrace and makes you feel safe—safer than anything. He is that kind of person who will always make you feel the love instead of chanting the endless I love you’s. He would let you cry on his clothes until it is soaked as long as you feel better before he made sure you talk to him what bothered you that much—Every little touch and gesture from him, he will make sure you are loved and secure.
Jinyoung notices every single thing that you do—your body language, expression. Somehow, It’s crazy how he knows you better than you know yourself. That’s why, when you chose to marry him, there is no regret in yourself. You know you made the greatest choice in your entire life. He is the greatest choice.
Now, when you saw that unfamiliar happiness on his face—you immediately know that Jinyoung wants a baby. Not anyone’s baby but his baby. Your baby. It aches your heart a bit, knowing you couldn’t give that to him yet.
It’s still fresh in your mind when you finally recall that moments when you caught him staring at the babies when both of you strolled at the park, having some kind of date as a married couple. A soft smile would appeared across his lips without taking his gaze off from the kids.
“Do you want a baby?” you teased him as you saw him giggling at the stranger’s baby inside the stroller. He nodded his head, excitedly.
“Of course, I do! I want 10 kids, can we do that?” Jinyoung tilted his head to you and pouted—making your eyes widen at his words.
“Babe, I’m not a factory,”
He chuckled.
He has been vocal about that and when you finally witnessed that today—you realise you have taken that signs lightly. You didn’t know he craved that so much, it makes you feel bad for not noticing that. Sure, if someone asks you, you definitely want a child, your own child but that thought sometimes scared you. You’re not sure if you’re ready to be a mom—to carry the responsibility as someone’s mom since both of you and Jinyoung are still young.
You’re not sure if you can be a good mom, what if you fail? It scares you so much. It’s crazy.
2 years into marriage, you don’t know if you are ready or just scared.
“Can you imagine if we have our own baby? I will be the happiest man in the world,” Jinyoung whispers to you as he strokes the soft hair on his nephew’s hair. You eyes glued on the baby as you notices Jinyoung brings his gaze back at younot sure if he sees your flustered face but he smiles, reassuring one. His words—it breaks your soul so much when you realise something that you’ve never realised before.
He makes you the happiest woman in the world. Jinyoung shows you the real happiness as there wasn’t a day you spent without a smile that he gave. It’s unfair when he gives you everything he had but what did you give to him? What exact thing did you give him that you would proudly brag about?
For some reason, when days passed—when you spend days and nights with him, you notice some things.
Rather than letting him to make you happy, you want to do that instead. You want to give everything to make his eyes lit with nothing but love and happiness. You need to be that person, the reason for his genuine laughter—your favourite melody. Whatever it takes, there is a spark in yourself—to make him the happiest man in the world.
And he gives you the answer. He wants a baby. From you.
But, somehow, what if you couldn’t give that to him? What if you have no ability to give a baby to him—like he has been craved for?
The thoughts scared you even more.
Next second, your eyes pooled with sudden tears before it streams down your cheeks, slowly without you notice when did it start pooling in the corner of your eyes. Instead of sadness, somehow, it’s the tears of touched heart. it’s crazy how those 9 months could make this beautiful baby exist and now, he is here. Your heart throbs with happiness.
It makes the tears come even more when that tiny hand wraps around your finger before that small figure creaks a soft sound.
You’re not a mother but now, you understand why people cry—seeing their baby for the first time after those sleepless nights and painful days. It’s indeed painfully sweet.
Jinyoung notices the tears on your eyes, he bends down and stares right into your soul.
“Why are you crying?” his voice is so soft, making your heart clenches even more. Do you even deserve this man? This man is way too good for you.
Head shaken, tears quickly wiped from you cheeks. You don’t want to cause a stupid scene here with that tears. It’s a happy day for both Eunju and her husband.
“No, I’m just....touched. He is indeed so beautiful. Look at these tiny hands, gorgeous,” you whisper back without looking at Jinyoung. You can’t bring yourself to look at him or there will be another tears burst from your eyes. You feel bad—so bad for not being able to give him his happiness. For not noticing him.
Even Jinyoung has not even once forced or give any pressure to you about having baby. He is always sweet and considerate, knowing you have career and currently building new life with him.
Not once he compared you to any woman just because you both still have no child. Jinyoung chose to understand and respect you until you’re the one who is ready to step forward. Deep inside, you know, he will always be well prepared for the new responsibility. What a man you got married to.
It’s just you—coward bitch.
Jinyoung nods and cracks a smile before he leans forward, pecking your cheek—leaving you become more devastated at yourself.
“I’m going to wait until we can proudly hold our own child, baby. I’m going to wait for you,” he cocks his head at you before you trail you gaze at him—almost bursting into another ugly sob.
His gaze is there—pearls in his eyes, looking at you the same way from the day one. From the day, he realised he wanted you to spend the rest of his life with. It’s always there. Just for you.
You love him so much. This man. You don’t know anything but only happiness for him.
Don’t know why but it aches you.
**
The whole day was spent with nothing but another squeals and soft scream from the adults at every single thing that baby does. You didn’t talk much like you usually do as you chose to stand there and spacing out more and more. Thanks god nobody notices that—especially Jinyoung. You didn’t want him to see you behaving this way—like a sad bitch for no reason. But, you had no choice. It can’t be helped.
Hours have passed and now, both of you and Jinyoung are driving back to the house, filling the car with nothing but silence. It’s not an uneasy silence, it’s more like silence that both of you need. Both of you know how long this day has been like, so, instead of talking, Jinyoung and you choose to enjoy the ride. Your whole body is tired—making it’s hard for you to say anything anyway.
The sun has gone slightly, disappearing behind the cloud—leaving the sky changes into velvety purple along with the stars that start to twinkle.
Along with the disappearance of sun, you space out again while looking out of the window—without noticing Jinyoung has been glancing at you for several times.
“Is there something bothering you?” his soft voice breaks the silence as he speaks, still have his eyes on the road. His hand tighten around the car steering wheel while the other hand, slightly brush on your hand on the thigh.
You almost flinch at the touch before you cock your head at him. Jinyoung looks at you with frown on his forehead.
“What? No, nothing. I’m good,” you chuckle softly, clasping your hand in his while rubbing the knuckle—softly. He exhales.
“You spaced out too many times in the hospital. The lunch, you didn’t eat your lunch either. Did I do something wrong? Tell me,” he slows down the car as he tilt his head to look back you and your devastated self. The touch around your hand, he tighten it even more.
Just as you imagined, Jinyoung notices that. What did you expect from someone who knows you inside out?
Your heart clenches at his words. Swear to god, he didn’t do anything wrong. Not even an inch. He is too far from being someone who would hurt you.
You shake your head—trying to fight with the tears.
“No, Jinyoung. You did nothing wrong to me. It is me who did that to you,” your voice becomes lower, you’re not sure if he heard that but when you see his face changes at your words as frown plasters all over his forehed, sure he wants you to explain.
“What do you mean? Baby, tell me what’s wrong,” he squeaks but you shake your head.
“Can we do that when we reach home? I’m tired,” you look away from him immediately when you can’t contain the rising feeling inside your chest every time you look at him. You had calmed down but when he asked you that—you couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. How crazy it is for him to notice even you’ve tried to hide it as best as you could do.
Jinyoung says nothing as he understands. The car moves, breaking the silence of the night, leaving the only silence between you and him.
When both of you and him arrived at the house—you unlock the door and immediately excuse yourself to go to the bathroom—leaving Jinyoung becomes as confused as ever, looking at your back before you disappear from his sight. You didn’t even look back when he calls your name—the courage, you don’t have that when your chest feels like aching so much.
Door closed. That moment when you see your reflection on the mirror—you immediately burst into silent tears, letting the heavy cloud that have been staying in your chest ever since this afternoon.
You’re not sure why are you like this but you feel small every time you think about him as the guilty and fear start to tingle under your skin, at the thought.
You don’t want to lose Jinyoung. It never crosses your mind before but today, it happens. What if, when you couldn’t make him happy—simply said, you couldn’t give him the happiness he has been looking for, what if he leaves you? What if he chooses to leave and find someone who could give him more than just a world?
Someone, who isn’t you. Your heart clenches even more at the thought. There is no way you can see days without Jinyoung. He is your everything—your man. It sounds exaggerating to say how he is the reason for you to breathe and alive but he indeed is. Jinyoung is your soulmate—you can’t see anyone else but him.
Tears are streaming down your cheeks as you slowly sitting on the cold marble floor, sobbing silently with your hands covering that wet soak face of yours. There is no sound from your mouth as you try so hard not to attract him from coming. He can’t see you like this—there is no way he can.
Next second, seeing how you break down this easily—avoiding Jinyoung when he asked and called your name, you finally understand. You want a child. You have been wanting a child. What scared you is the possibility of getting pregnant. That is what scared you the most that you chose to ignore until now.
You’ve been seeing women, not being able to get a baby and it scares you if you’re one of them. The guilty hits you even deeper, making you bawl your eyes even harder. Hands all over your face, soaking the hem of your sleeves with nothing but the hot tears.
“Baby?” his voice squeaks behind you, making you immediately look up to the back and see panic and horror on his face.
You didn’t lock the door.
Just right when you meet his eyes—you burst into another sorrowful tears, calling his name before he kneels down and pulls you to his chest—your favourite place. Your home. The sobbing becomes louder as you bawl your eyes on his clothes—soaking the clothes and pulling him closer to your body while saying nothing but his name. It hurts you even more when he is here—by your side like he always does. It’s crazy when you know he won’t go far from you.
Jinyoung rubs his warm hand on your back while the other hand, stroking the silky hair, chanting comfort words over and over again.
“What hurts you this much?” he whispers, there is an obvious hurt and worry in his voice as he speaks to you, still patting your head slowly with your face buried in his chest. You know Jinyoung hates seeing you this way. You sob before slowly pull away and look at him on the eyes—with your swollen ones.
“I’m scared. I’m so scared,” your voice crack into painful sound while the tears keep running down to chin and wet the clothes. Eyebrows furrow, eyes soaked with tears. Jinyoung stares at you deeply while tucking the hair behind your ears.
“What is it? You can tell me. Please tell me, baby,” he speaks—glueing his gaze on your teary eyes, taking your face in his hands before he wipes the water that have been staining that beautiful face of yours—his pride.
You suck on your lower lip, gaining some voices to speak.
“What if....what if I can’t give you a baby? What if I can’t give you what you want? I’m scared,” you break down again which is leaving Jinyoung, looking flustered and dumbfounded at your words. He tries to process the words that just came out from your mouth.
“Please stop saying that. We can make this work,” he says, rubbing his thumb on your cheeks but it leaves you to no avail. You shake your head.
“What if we fail? What if I fail to make you happy? No, no, I’m scared” the hot tears leave your eyes again as you start to sob, looking down—away from his eyes. Jinyoung stares at your face down, speechless while holding your body that seems to become weak from crying too much.
“Don’t leave me,” you beg while looking down.
“What?”
“Please don’t leave me. I love you so much. I’m really sorry if I can’t make you happy but please...please don’t leave me, Jinyoung. I love you so much,” you bring your pooled eyes to look at him—who has been staring at your pathetic self, who cries for no reason. You don’t know what comes to you but the thought really scared you this much.
“I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. Don’t leave me,” you beg again. He becomes speechless.
“I can’t live without you. I want you so—“
Jinyoung leans forward and crashes his warm lips on yours—taking every inches of your mouth with his might before he trails his big hands—cupping your wet face, which is making that small gap between you and him, disappears like a wind. Jinyoung deepen the kiss by pulling you to sit on his lap, hovering and eating your mouth with his tongue. You hold on the clothes on his chest to find the support.
He sure could taste the salty water that still coming from your eyes but it doesn’t make him pull away. He kisses you like tomorrow doesn’t exist—stopping you from crying and wrecking your eyes—your beautiful eyes. You feel safe.
He hums, kissing you one more time before he pulls away slowly—staring straight into your eyes as you look at him with the remaining tears in your lashes and the corner of your eyes. Now, the room is filled with silence, replacing the sob that came from your mouth. Only pant and breathing from both of you and him ever since he broke the kiss.
“I don’t want you to say things like that again,” his jaw clenches a little bit along with the stern and serious voice, echoes in this room. His gaze never leaves yours, making you glue on your position.
“I’m going to be really mad if you do that. Again,”
“I don’t care if we don’t have a baby—or you can’t get pregnant. I don’t care. I don’t think you realise that I still want you no matter what happens. I still want to wake up with you beside me every morning. I still want to stare at your eyes, my forever weakness and I still want to kiss you every time you give me that pretty smile—even we have no kids,” Jinyoung whispers to you, taking every image of your face into his sight—wrapping one of his arms around your waist while the other one slightly strokes the corner of your lips.
Your suck on your lower lip at the words. Fucking heart wrenching.
He stops for a moment before pecking your teary eyes.
“You make me happy, so much. Like something that I’ve never experienced before. I love you more than you can imagine. I don’t know how to make you understand this but when I choose you, I want nothing else but every inches of you. Every part of you. So, please, don’t beg me to stay because—“ he stops, wiping the tears.
“I won’t leave. I’m not leaving. I’m here. I’m always here. How can I leave when I’m in love with you—every single day?” Jinyoung cracks a soft smile across his plump lips, chanting those heavenly words over and over again—which is sending million butterflies to your whole body.
“I want you. So bad,” he adds.
His eyes and his words—what a perfect combination to let you know you’re loved.
He never disappoints you. Jinyoung don’t know how to disappoint you. It’s not in his vocabulary.
You nod and burst into another tears before wrapping his neck around your arms as you bury your face on his shoulder—inhaling his scent. He chuckles at your reactions while stroking your hip, slowly—giving you some time to calm down in his embrace.
You sob on his shoulder, telling him how you’re in love with him too—how he makes you happy too—how he means the world to you too. Deep inside, you thanked God for sending this man for you. For crossing the path between you and him. God is fair.
When you finally calmed down—you pull and look at him, who has a smile all over his face.
“Better?” he squeaks, you nod with red faces and puffy eyes.
“I’m sorry. I love you,” you whisper, playing with his t-shirt collar as you look at him with puppy eyes. He chuckles and nod.
“That’s okay. I love you too,” he says, brightly—leaving a smile on your face.
“Now, are you ready?” he adds.
Eyebrows raised as you look at him, a little bit confused before your voice reaches few octaves when Jinyoung stands up and put your body over his shoulder—making you ass face his side while your face on his back.
“Jinyoung!!” you wiggle your legs slowly, as he walks out of the bathroom and brings you to the room that you shared with him before laying your back down on the bed. A soft giggle leaves your mouth.
Your eyes widen when he comes closer and cage your side with his muscular arms and long legs—looking down at your flushed face, from crying too much.
“5 girls. 5 boys. How about that?” he grins, brushing the hair that been covering your face.
“I thought you said you don’t care about having kids,” you give him side eye look and he shrugs—looking unbothered.
“I did but now, I have the chance to make one,” he says with a straight face.
For some reason, it makes you burst into laughter at his words. You laugh out loud while holding on to his arms, making Jinyoung grins at you.
“Very straightforward, baby” you say between laughter.
“Since you didn’t answer, how about 10 girls and 10 boys? Come on baby, say yes,”
You almost choke at his words.
“I’m not a willy wonka factory, Jinyoung!” you slap his arms and pouts. The next second—his genuine laughter fills the room along with his chest pounding and vibrating—at your random jokes. Again, his eyes sparkle with joy as it crinkles—showing off that eye smile.
His perfect teeth comes to the sight as he laughs—making you smile at him. Your heart light up when you see that view—your favourite view. Jinyoung has a specific smile when he is happy and you are seeing it now.
“You’re hilarious, oh my god,” Jinyoung squeaks between laughter as he looks down at you while taking your closer to him. His hand rubs your hip slowly. You chuckle at his face.
“You’re crazy,” you reply.
“But, I love you,” he pouts before coming down—pecking your eyes, your nose, your cheeks then your lips, making a giggle comes from your mouth.
“I love you too,” you grin as you pull him down, hovering his mouth with yours.
This man—you want to give him the world. Like he gave it to you.
Sorry!! I’m really bad at fluff but hope you like it!

Both me and Seungcheol where momentarily blinded by a bright light and as I squinted against the flash, Seungcheol groaned and lifted a hand up to shield his eyes. “Y/n?!” Soonyoung almost barked, both surprise and worry dripping from the way he pronounced my name. I blinked a few times to adjust to the darkness again as both Soonyoung and Jihoon lowered their girthy flashlights towards the dewy grass beneath us. Seungcheol walked over to the only car left and I could hear him talking to Jihoon by the luggage hatch of the car. The grass rustled slightly as Soonyoung strode over to me, a hand quickly reaching out to touch the now dried and coagulated blood that streaked my neck and shoulder. “What happened to you?” the male whispered; his eyebrows furrowed over his worried eyes as his irises flickered between my face and my neck and torn up clothes.
Even in the darkness I could see how his eyes gleamed with a slight sheen of anger, or maybe it was fierce worry. The want for revenge glinting in his eyes as he looked between the ripped fabric of my shirt to the wound on my neck, the splattered blood along my torso and then eventually back to my eyes. His hand fell from my shoulder to his side as he gave me another once over. “They’re dead, don’t worry about it.” I whispered as I turned to walk over to the car. “Jihoon got one of them in the back of the head and I planted another bullet right between the other guys eyes. Easy.” I chuckled, brushing it off slightly but mostly so he would stop worrying too much. Soonyoung followed right behind me, probably deciding to let it be for a while, and as I got in the car I noticed Vernon sleeping peacefully against the window in the backseat.
The trip back to camp consisted mostly of silence. Soonyoung had gently grasped my hand in the backseat and was slowly running his thumb across the back of my hand while Seungcheol drove. Jihoon had originally took the driver seat but we had to stop halfway because he got sleepy. The other guys had decided to leave with the first half of the group in the first car because they wanted to get the people who where already out back safe. Especially seeing as the young girl was only two years old and needed to be brought to a safe environment. And Jangmi, the lady who was pregnant, had fallen unconscious after they got her out so they had decided it would just be better for everyone to get out of there as quick as possible. I zoned out during Soonyoung and Seungcheol’s casual back and forth as I thought back to the image of Haru, Jihoon had told me that was the young girl’s name. How she had been giggling and laughing while playing with a bunched-up rag, and how she seemed so accustomed to all the horrors of this reality.
It only dawned on me right then how she had never known anything other than this. She had only been alive for two years; how could she fear situations like these if this is all she ever knew. As I sat completely drowned in my own thoughts, I felt a shoulder bump mine gently. I looked over at Soonyoung and only then did I realize I was barely holding back tears. He smiled gently at me before leaning his head into mine and letting me rest against his shoulder. And that is how I fell asleep. It had been an extremely long day, and I finally felt how tired I was, how exhausted and heavy my body felt. My limbs ached, I was in pain and my body had been ravaged by an unusual amount of adrenaline. And as I slowly fell asleep I felt Soonyoung gently envelop my hand with both his and the warmth felt so nice in that moment that if I wasn’t half asleep by then I swear I would have cried.
“Which one’s that?” Junghyun softly asked, a tiny hand pointed up towards the blacked-out sky. It was illuminated by thousands upon thousands of white glowing stars. “That’s orions belt, see how they’re all lined up perfectly?” I answered, my voice barely above a whisper as I looked over at the tiny boy. He continued to stare up at the sky, his eyes blown wide as he discovered more and more stars. I let my fingers drag over the dark blue fleece blanket cushioning the two of us from the hard concrete of the roof we where laying on as I absentmindedly stared off behind Junghyun. Eunju was sleeping a few meters away and Jicheol was sitting against the edge of the roof, leaning over and watching the darkened city. Everything was quiet. So, so quiet and dark. “Look, that one looks like a heart shape!” Junghyun mused, his tiny voice floating through the cold midnight air. I let out a soft chuckle, but it sounded more like a harsh breath. The sound of a few doves landing on a rusted antenna snapped me out of the half asleep state I had lulled myself into and I looked over at Jicheol who was still sitting in the same corner as before, now running his dull pocket knife along the edge of one of his frayed and tattered backpack straps. Everything seemed so still, almost normal for a few seconds and I found myself bittersweetly nostalgic as I remembered a time before all of this and how badly I wished I could have seen Junghyun grow up in the world I had experienced so many years ago.
I thought about how he would have run around, how he would have loved football and how he would have been a boy scout. Exploring nature and learning about space and stars and planets. Learning languages and multiplying and science instead of learning first aid, how to collect water from soil and how to load a gun. I let one of my hands stretch out to move some of the stray black hairs that had now fallen over his closed eyes. He needed a haircut; his hair was getting long. His cheeks where dotted with dirt and tiny scratches that almost looked like the constellations on the sky he adored so much. He looked so peaceful like this, sleeping without a single worry, resting. This was how I wanted to remember him as he grew up, I thought to myself. This is how he’ll live in my mind forever.
“Y/n?” a soft voice said, I could feel someone softly grasp my upper arm but I was so sleepy. I couldn’t tell where the voice came from or who it was, but somehow it didn’t scare me. The comfortable blanket around me and the warmth from Junghyun was way too comfortable. I was so tired too, I just wanted to rest. Just for one second. The doves above cooed, and the slight sound of the gentle wind blowing past the buildings and the rustle nature that was slowly overgrowing the concrete and asphalt of the city just lured me further into sleep.
The next time I opened my eyes there was a low sound of water running. A slow stream. Over me there was a strong light, almost completely white for a few seconds before my eyes could adjust. The sky above was blue, without a single cloud in sight. I could feel the grass sway softly with the breeze all around me. It was warm, but not hot. The wind felt amazing against my skin as it drifted past and lightly danced through my hair, which wasn’t tied up as usual. It flowed down along my shoulders and I could feel the tips of the strands tickle my exposed shoulders. The buzzing of a fly was suddenly audible on the left side of my head and I quickly stood up as I waved my hand around gently to shoo the insect away. I was surrounded by vast woods, tall pine trees and fresh green grass that tickled my shins as I took a few steps away from the position I had woken up in. There was a tiny stream cutting through the middle of the field but other than that there where just woods and mountains all around. I looked down on myself, unsure if I was dreaming or not. Was this real? Where was I? Am I dead? Is this heaven?
I was barefoot, the dampness of the soil beneath pressing against the soles of my feet. And I was wearing a familiar dress. A white one with a tiny blue ribbon tied around the waist. It was the same dress I had worn in my parents wedding when I was four. Except much bigger, and as I realized that fact, I knew I had to be dreaming. Or dead. I quickly looked up again. If I was dead, why was I alone? Where was Junghyun and Eunju? Dahye? My parents? Was I supposed to be alone even after dying? “Hello?” I tried, my voice raspy and hoarse. I cleared it slightly and tried again. No answer. Only the deafening sound of the water, and the occasional fly buzzing past my face. I stood for a few seconds, letting myself stand in the silence. I felt someone take my hand, first the left one and then the right. And just as I was about to turn around to face the person who had so gently held my hands my eyes opened, for real this time.
“Hi. Good morning.” Mingyu gently smiled as I met eyes with him. His large hand was clutching mine, while the other disappeared out of my line of sight towards my neck. I groaned as I felt a slight sting on the skin where his hand was. “Sorry. It’s antiseptic.” He whispered, looking at me with an apologetic smile. I rolled my neck as gently as I could, so I didn’t disturb whatever it was he was doing, and my entire spine cracked one joint after the other. The room was familiar, just like every other of the motel rooms of the camp. It wasn’t the same room as Seokmin had stayed in because the beds where placed differently. There where two beds on each side of the room here, and the identical dresser had been pushed in-between. “How’s everyone?” I asked, looking back at Mingyu as soon as I had oriented myself a little. He glanced between my eyes and my neck, skipping a couple beats before he answered. “Well, you’re the person in second worst shape and I guess that’s a pretty good starting point.” He hoarsely whispered back with a playful smile slightly tugging at the corners of his lips, before focusing completely on bandaging up my neck.
“You got five stitches and a good night’s sleep; you’ll definitely manage. Jangmi has pneumonia and is about 8 months along, Chan also suspects she might have preeclampsia but there is basically no way to be certain of that in this situation. It’s not looking too good.” He solemnly explained, his coffee colored eyes downcast as he put the final bandage over the stitches on my neck. I sighed, turning to look over at the other bed that was placed under the dusty window on the wall diagonal to where my bed was. “That’s Seungkwan.” Mingyu whispered as he got up to put the rest of the supplies away. “He’s just malnourished and tired. Vernon too, he’s in a bit more of a shock and doesn’t really say much but he asked about you. Jeonghan was covered in infected cuts but he’ll manage. Haru was in next to perfect health, but I think we’re seeing some separation anxiety symptoms. It’s not that bad but we’ll have to be proactive about it.” The tall man murmured as he turned his back to the beds to dispose of the used cottonpads and the bandage wrapper. He was wearing a burgundy hoodie that was way to small for him, so he couldn’t zip it up. “I’ll have Wonwoo bring you two some food, Chan will be by to check on your stitches a little later. We have to disinfect it three times a day because according to Jihoon whatever knife those guys used on you, it was rusty and dirtied up pretty badly.” The hoodie clad man moved over to the door, his voice still barely above a whisper as Seungkwan was still completely passed out in the bed beside mine. Mingyu stilled for a while, his hand holding the doorknob but not moving. I could hear faint talking and the sound of footsteps on the gravel outside. Mingyu turned to look over his shoulders, our eyes locking for the first time today. Had we stared at each other in silence for even a split second longer I would have busted out in an awkward laugh but just as I was about to look away, he smiled gently, his dark eyes looking so extremely sincerely apologetic. “Good to have you back, Y/n.”
I had been ordered to stay on bed rest for the day by both Mingyu and Chan, but after about 40 minutes of laying and listening to people go about their day outside and nearly praying that Seungkwan would wake up just so I could have someone to talk to, I took my chances and left the tray of half eaten food Wonwoo had brought earlier on the dresser and walked out onto the porch. The sun was shining, barely a cloud in the sky and I could hear Sun barking and the sound of a child laughing so happily it almost came out as a scream. There was a shadowed figure in the watchtower, and I recognized it as Minghao right away, the way his long hair fell over his eyes and into his face not hiding his identity very well. Not that hiding your identity was necessary right now anyway. The wind blew past, it was a little stronger today and I could feel slight goosebumps rise on my arms as I leaned onto the wooden bannister.
The wind took ahold of the treetops and swayed them gently. The sound of the leaves rustling, and the tall grass being tousled was oddly calming. It was warm for an autumn morning, but not hot. I looked over at the sound of a door opening and was politely greeted by Seokmin and a man I recognized as Jeonghan supporting the latter. “Morning!” Seokmin smiled, staggering slightly as he moved out on the porch. Jeonghan helped Seokmin waddle over to the bannister for support and as the younger boy assumed almost the same position as me, Jeonghan moved to stand in between the two of us. There was a beat of silence, the wind once again taking another hold of the very tops of the pine trees all around the camp. “I don’t think we got to formally introduce ourselves, I’m Jeonghan.” the man smiled, the previous bandages I had seen him with was gone now, replaced by some new, clean ones while some of the smaller cuts on his face had been smeared with ointment. He looked tired and unusually pale, but his smile and eyes read happy, almost thankful. I offered him a smile before gently responding with “Pleased to meet you. I’m Y/n.”

↳ Summary: When your grandmother passes away, she leaves her countryside house in your name. The longer you stay, the harder and harder it becomes to explain away the odd happenings. What kind of secrets does this sleepy town hold? And why do the local animals act so strangely around you?…

You make sure your garden gate is latched properly, and put Taehyung gingerly on the ground, despite the way he snuffles and whines at you when you do so. If you’re going to hire that gardener then you don’t really need to do much with it after all…Just have to think of a way to pay his wages. ‘Make his time up to him’, he said. You scrunch your nose, deciding to focus on other matters first. He did say he’d give you a day to make up your mind, so you might as well shelve it for now. You could go back inside the house to get some less than appetizing travelling snack foods plus the junk food you purchased when you went up to the store last or you could always go back to the store and buy some ready-made sandwiches from there? At least that way you don’t have to explain the ingredients to Jin if he asks. Right on the packaging. It’s perhaps not the most elegant of meals, but something about Jin tells you he won’t mind too much. You head for the store, already feeling lighter at the prospect of seeing the keepers again.
The peal of the bell when you push the door inwards and step in is so cheery, so light and melodic, it automatically brings a smile to your face. The shop is small, barely larger than some gas stations you’ve seen. The outside is ringed with produce—local, judging by the handmade signs and cheap prices, the strong smell of freshly picked fruits and vegetables. The inside is sparsely, cheerfully, decorated but remarkably tidy. The half-length windows at the walls let in so much sunlight that the industrial lights ahead aren’t even on and yet the entire space is bright and inviting. None of the shelves are higher than your shoulder, so it’s possible to view the entire store from the get-go.
“Hello,” the elderly man at the register greets, wrinkled face brightening at your entrance. He straightens a little where he’d been leaning against the faded blue counter, chatting with the woman at the end. “Back again, eh?”
“Yes, back again,” you laugh shyly, “I’m just—oh! I’m sorry!” At the brush of fur against your ankle, you start, bending to gather Taehyung again and edging awkwardly back through the door, tucking him under one arm. Instead of struggling, he merely huffs a pleased sigh, relaxing his entire body in your grip. “I’m sorry, you probably don’t allow pets.”
“Oh, no, no, it’s fine!” the older lady by the counter insists quickly, shuffling forward in worn slippers to gesture you into the store. “We don’t discriminate against customers. Not this close to Spirit Lights.” She winks at you and reaches to pet Taehyung.
“He, um—“ you begin to shy away, petrified that your little terror is going to bite this lovely old lady, but instead he leans gladly into her touch, tail wagging, tongue lolling. “Oh.”
“You and your handsome escort,” she says, completely serious, almost with respect. “Are more than welcome in our humble shop.” You stifle a chuckle at that.
“Are you sure it’s alright?”
“Perfectly alright.” She reassures you, firm.
You shift him in your arms, unsure if letting him loose is really something you should be doing, but one stern look from her has you persuaded.
“This close to spirit lights?” You repeat, curious, letting Taehyung down gently. Contrary to your fears, he sits down obediently by your feet and merely sniffs and casts mild looks about the place.
“The kids around here call it Sprite Night,” the man pipes up helpfully. The woman scoffs.
“That is not its name, and you won’t catch me repeating it. It’s disrespectful.”
“Nobody believes in the old superstitions anymore, Eunju.”
“I believe the old superstitions, Sungmin, and I say it is disrespectful.”
“I’ve never heard of it,” you say.
“Never?” the woman echoes, peering at you with surprise.
“She was very young when she was here last, she said,” the man adds, shaking his head in sympathy, throwing you a labored roll of his eyes when the woman’s back is turned. “Can’t expect such a traveled young lady to remember all the old, odd, hang-ups from each and every small village between here and the coast.”
“Not every village has Spirit Lights,” the woman insists, suddenly spinning on her heel with a fortitude shocking for her age and trudging underneath a heavy blanket hung over the doorway to the back of the store, still grumbling in concern as she goes. The grey hairs peeking beneath her bandana wave in the air with the waddling motion. “It’s dangerous. Especially for people who don’t know any better.”
“Please excuse my wife.” The man leans conspiratorially across the counter, flashing a mock fearful look to where she had disappeared. “She just worries, you know.”
“I think it’s sweet,” you return with a soft giggle. “I don’t mind.”
“I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing that this poor girl was in danger of being spirited away, just like that.” The wife continues, volume rising as she returns. She throws the blanket hiding the back room aside as though vaguely annoyed with it and toddles closer. She’s now bearing a small, handcrafted bag in her arms that she cradles like a child.
“Shame on you, Sungmin,” she adds, slapping his arm with a frown. He recoils dramatically, closing his eyes, mouth open in a mock cry of pain. “My hearing hasn’t gotten any worse yet, you know. Apologize for me, will you?”
“What?” He leans forward, cupping his ear. He retreats, laughing, when she hits him again.
“Excuse my husband,” she says tersely, ignoring the childish face he pulls at her back. “He’s an idiot.”
She straightens to her full height, still a full head shorter than you, and begins to explain.
“Spirit Lights is a festival we hold here. It’s in four days. There will be food and drink, stalls, produce, music—the children love it. But you have to make sure you’re home before dark. Once the sun starts setting, everyone lights candles and sets them outside, to show the spirits the way through the town, so that they don’t get lost on their way to the other side. You cannot, cannot, be outside during the nighttime on Spirit Lights. Otherwise, they will take you with them as they go. Even if you see ones that you recognize, don’t follow them. It’s the one night that their contracts break, you see, so even ones that you’re familiar with could turn on you.”
Taehyung sneezes loudly and shifts to sit closer to you, nearly ontop of your foot. The woman eyes him cautiously, almost warning, but reaches into the bag.
“Now, if you absolutely must go outside during that time, you’ll need this.” She retrieves her hand gently from the bag and produces a white mask. It’s half-sized, only the top half of a cat or maybe fox face, with small pointed ears on the top and narrow eye holes. It’s intricately painted with blue and yellow markings down the forehead and up the cheeks—obviously well-crafted, hand-made, and much older than it looks. “A mask will hide you just fine—you will be no more than a ghost to them.” She pushes it back into the bag, gathering the ribbons threaded through the sides gently into the opening. When it’s all safely inside, she pulls out a small carving. It’s stone, and when she straightens her arm towards you, you copy the motion to take it from her. It’s shockingly heavy in your palm, cool, and smooth. An expertly carved tiger, mouth bared in a snarl, stepping down from its craggy perch.
“If you place this at any doorway, they won’t be able to cross the threshold—private property or no.” she says, adamant. “They can be persuasive if you let them, but they won’t be able to worm their way out of obeying a stone predator.”
“I see,” you reply. You aren’t going to remember all this, but it doesn’t escape you how serious she’s being. She probably actually thinks she’s protecting you against spirits. And considering the things you’ve been experiencing lately…you’re almost convinced yourself. You hold it back out to her, but she shakes her head, holding the bag out at arm’s length.
“Take them,” she encourages. “No charge.”
You balk, flush travelling up your face. “I—I mean, I can’t—“
“You’ll have to give the mask back after Spirit Lights is over, as it’s an heirloom,” she interrupts your stammering with a disapproving hum. “And as for the tiger...” She rolls her eyes with an exasperated chuff through shaking lips, her frame sagging in exhaustion.
Her husband pipes back up from where he’s resumed leaning onto the counter, chin in his palm. He looks half ready to fall asleep in the warm sunshine streaming in from outside. “Please, please take the tiger.” He chuckles, eyes still shut.
“My mother carves them,” she adds in a defeated tone.
You reach out for the bag, accepting it gingerly with a grateful nod. You make sure to slide the tiger back inside with a gentle hand, so that it doesn’t break or jostle the mask too hard.
“We can’t get rid of the damn things.”
“She means well,” the woman sniffs. “She does.”
“She’s convinced that being protected from the spirits means she’ll live forever.”
“Well, it’s worked so far, hasn’t it, Sungmin? I don’t see you trying to extend your life, what with all the sweets I watch you eat.”
“Bah!” he makes a dismissive gesture, eyes sparkling when he grins at you. “I will die the way I lived.”
“With your belly full and your mind empty, I expect!”
“Just like that!”
You laugh at their banter, slipping the strap of the bag over your shoulder and making sure it’s secure. Sweets. Oh! Right. While you’re here, you might as well try what the librarian suggested.
“Do you sell sweets?” You ask.
“Of course!”
Miss Eunju shows you around the shop, helping you pick out a bag of candies (You don’t mention what they’re for, but she insists the larger bag is better quality for money, anyway) as well as a few sandwiches of varying flavors. Taehyung, the entire time, is happy enough to plod along with you, and never so much as gives more than a wayward sniff at the food items at his level. Impressed, you throw in a few dog treats at the checkout. Mr. Sungmin beams at you as he tallies it all up, and though neither of you says anything, you notice he rounds your total down.
You can’t stop thanking them for their kindness and they continue to wave it off, shaking their heads.
“It’s fine, it’s fine,” Mr. Sungmin insists gently, laughing with a dry wheeze. “Just make sure you come back. If Eunju doesn’t see you after Spirit Lights, she’ll worry.”
“He won’t,” Miss Eunju scoffs. “He’ll take a nap and forget you were ever in here, the silly old man.”
“Your silly old man.” Sungmin leans over and slips her arm under his, patting her wrinkled hand familiarly. She allows it with a roll of her eyes and an exaggerated sigh, but you can see the fondness in the way she leans back against him.
“Thank you again!” You call, opening the door and stepping back through, played out by the bell. Taehyung skips and hops to catch up with you, tongue lolling, tail wagging. You wave at the two shopkeepers through the glass, unable to keep the grin off your face when you spot them waving back. Feeling content, you turn and make your way back down the road. The sun is high in the sky by now, as warm as it’ll get for the day, and yet still not too hot. There’s a breeze that pulls playfully at your hair, caresses your face, smelling like green plants and sunshine.
“When will I have that?” you ask Taehyung conversationally, still smiling. “They’re still so in love, did you see them? So cute.”
He skitters after you, occasionally breaking into a canter when your own pace quickens in thought. He’s no less cheerful looking than you feel, if seemingly focused on your ankles with laser-precision. You slow down to allow him the chance to match your strides. The trees ahead cast gold-tinged, dappled light everywhere, sheltering you and turning the air cool.
“You were so good in there,” you add to your companion. “So well-behaved. I really thought you were going to attack them like you almost did with Hoseok.”
Hoseok. Your mouth quirks, now distracted. What are you going to do with his contract? Even with as little as you’ve bought just now, you certainly don’t have enough left in your budget for a professional gardener. But, to be fair, he didn’t say how much he wanted. ‘Make it worth his time’ was all he said. Not at least trying to retain him isn’t an option. You can’t imagine the kind of damage he could inflict on granny’s precious garden.
“…Do you think he likes sandwiches?” you ask wryly after a moment of listening to the leaves rustling, the distant sound of birdsong, the gravel and dirt crunching beneath your feet. “Or…maybe candy? Can I pay a gardener with candy?” The thought is entirely ridiculous, but there’s a chance it could work. You could halve it between Hoseok and the kepry apparently living underneath your porch—two birds, one stone. It might be worth a try. He might think it funny enough to laugh off and not get majorly offended. You don’t need him to continue its maintenance, even, really. You’re more than willing to put in the work yourself. You’d just prefer he didn’t snap the heads off all the roses and pull out all the lavender to begin with.
You’re still pondering the ramifications of proposing you pay off a professional with sweets when your thoughts are momentarily interrupted by a rustling noise just behind you. A shuffling, a skid, and then silence again. Probably just some small animal, going about its day. You don’t pay too much mind to it except that Taehyung is noticeably put on edge, ears twitching backwards, snapping his tongue back into his mouth with a doggie equivalent of a grim expression. You blink at him as you continue to walk, bemused by his sudden change in attitude.
“Taehyung?”
He huffs, frustrated, turning into almost a growl. His businesslike trot turns intent, his head intermittently swiveling to look behind the two of you.
“Is there—“ Another rustle, closer. You crane your head, peering at a bush to the side of the walkway that’s shifting suspiciously. “…Something wrong?”
Taehyung growls louder this time, weaving between your legs towards the bushes, and you almost step on him, tripping over your own feet trying to avoid planting your shoe on his small back or treading on his little paws.
“Oh, leave it alone, come on,” you complain.
He doesn’t heed you, instead baring his teeth in a snarl, planting his feet and standing his ground. His hackles raise, giving him even more fluff than usual and succeeding in somehow making him look even more absurd.
“Taehyung!” you chastise with a sigh. And just after praising him for being well behaved, too. Somebody isn’t getting his doggie treats, that’s for sure.
There’s another rustle, and this time you can see a dark shape darting forwards, shaded by the underbrush. Taehyung lunges and a silky brown foot intercepts his nose instantly, kicking him backwards with a yelp before the shadow breaks into a run, barreling out of the hedge with a hurried gait, ducking and weaving as Taehyung throws himself wholly into pursuit, now barking in a frenzy, the two of them streaking past you and continuing further down the trail. It’s that rabbit, the one you saw in the forest by the house, you’re sure of it. Sleek as ever, and faster, even, than Taehyung’s paws can keep up with, hauling down the dirt path at impressive speeds, sending small rocks and dirt scattering.
You stare in shock, so busy watching them racing along, when you realize they’re nearing the mouth of the trail, which opens into the road.
“W-wait!” you call, as if they can understand, picking up your feet to jog after the two animals, suddenly panicked at the thought of harm coming to either of them.
The rabbit keeps its pace, but Taehyung slows as he reaches the end of the path, skidding to a halt just before the asphalt, still barking his foolish little head off. The rabbit throws a look back, spinning ‘round, and as you come up by the small dog, you realize with shock that there’s a car coming in this direction. It isn’t moving that fast, but the driver won’t be able to see anything so small from this close. The rabbit doesn’t move, instead going completely stiff where it’s stopped, crouched, and stares at the car’s approach. Without thinking, you’re stepping onto the road, ignoring the way Taehyung immediately bursts into desperate screaming, reaching for the rabbit, who only sits, frozen in place, eyes wide and focused on the fender of the vehicle. You reach forward, gathering it in your arms, careful not to let either the shopping bag or the cloth bag touch the ground, hefting the sizeable bunny up and carrying it to the other side of the road just as the car shudders to a halt.
You spin, still holding the creature, looking to the driver. You’re a little in shock—did you really just do that…? The driver blinks at you in surprise, but understands what you’ve done when he looks to the animal in your arms. He nods, once, in gratitude, and you slowly return it, watching him continue to inch down the road with care. The minute the car has passed, Taehyung is zipping back up to your side, barking and trying to leap upwards, snapping at air just below where you’ve got the rabbit cradled. You look down at it. It looks up at you, nose twitching spasmodically, body completely still. It’s even silkier to touch than it looks, soft as Taehyung if not softer, heavy and hot—both from running and from warming itself in the sun. A waft of vanilla drifts past as the two of you lock gazes and you wonder absently if someone’s been bathing it in the stuff.
“That was close,” you say breathlessly. “You need to be more careful, little guy.” It blinks up at you. A beat passes, its nose twitching before it stops entirely. Slowly, hesitant, as though expecting you to bat it away, it raises one smooth paw. You’re almost afraid that it’s going to claw at your face (do rabbits do that?...) but instead, its paw lands at your chest, just over where you’ve hidden away the cat’s totem under your shirt. Its eyes widen. Taehyung pauses and begins barking anew, in a higher volume. The rabbit suddenly jerks, kicking upwards. In your shock, you allow it to leap up out of your arms, using your shoulder and elbow as purchase to jump off, lunging for the undergrowth on the side of the road. Taehyung darts forward, and you dart after him, but just as he snaps at the air just behind the rabbit’s foot as it disappears into the greenery, so does your hand clasp nothing as he runs—their chase, restarted with vigor.
“T-Taehyung!” you shout as he charges into the leaves, still baying in a high pitch as they crash noisily through the thickets. You pause, considering going after them, but even now as you’re considering, the sound of Taehyung’s barking is becoming faint. You’d never catch up, and you’re more than likely to become lost again anyways instead. Frowning at the trees, now slowly regaining their silence with quiet rustling, though you can still hear the yapping at a distance, you decide you’ll leave it. He isn’t really your dog, in any case, you remind yourself with a disbelieving scoff. You don’t know why he’s so insistent on hanging out with you. Protecting you from gardeners and rabbits. The devils. He’ll know this village better than you ever will. You’re certain he won’t get lost or hurt.
You shift the bags more comfortably on your shoulders and turn, heading down the path that will take you back to the intersection. As you go, you pass by the bus stop, and your mind drifts to the cat you saw on the first night. The totem hanging around your neck. The way that rabbit touched it was almost reverent, if rabbits were capable of feeling reverence.
It’s also why the others keep coming to you. They’re drawn to it.
Is it possible that the rabbit is one of them? A kepry, a spirit? What kind of ancient spirit stops in front of a moving car?... You scoff to yourself. Not a very bright one.
Maybe Taehyung is one, too, then, if the standards are so low.
That makes you giggle to yourself as you walk, looking both ways before crossing onto the side of the street that leads to Jin’s pond. You could always ask him, you reason with yourself in a spark of inspiration. Even if you see the ones you recognize, the lady had said. If the storekeepers knew about spirits, and if he’s lived here for a while, then maybe Jin will recognize some, too. If only you could show him the rabbit…You’re reminded of the librarian, warning against traps, but you agree with him too quickly. You wouldn’t want to hurt the little guy anyway…Ah, wait! Didn’t you take a photograph when you first saw him? That would be just perfect!
Suddenly excited, you dig into your pocket as you dip underneath the cover of trees again, passing the worn signpost. You retrieve your phone, inwardly rolling your eyes at the low battery percentage, and flick through to your photos. It’s the last photo you’ve taken, so it doesn’t take long to find it. You tap on the thumbnail, pulling it up. It’s definitely the same rabbit, big and shiny, peering at you from underneath the leaves, eyes wide. It’s a little blurry but it’s not a bad picture, altogether. Jin should be able to at least tell what it is…Wait. You squint closer, brow furrowing. There’s a smudge in the upper corner. Maybe you got your finger in the frame by accident or something.
You stop in your tracks. A chill races down your spine, ice-cold and reaching, turning the quiet of the trees around you into a deafening, suffocating silence. It’s not a finger. They’re shoes. Red sneakers, white socks, muscular calves. You’re frozen in place. You lift the phone closer, holding it almost at your nose as you pinch and swipe at the screen, trying to shift it this way and that, trying to understand. You wrack your scrambled brains for an explanation, squinting hard. Maybe it’s a trick of the light? But even as blurry as some of it is, it’s unmistakable now that you’ve recognized it. Two legs, socks, shoes. There’s someone standing in the corner of this photograph, just behind where the rabbit is hiding.
Was there someone there yesterday? You’re certain there wasn’t. You’re positive there wasn’t.
“You came back.”
Jin’s voice snaps you out of your confusion, and you look up to see him standing in front of you, a gentle smile pulling at his pink lips.
“Uh,” you blink hard, switching the phone off deftly and sliding it back into your pocket, trying to return his pleased expression. You’ll revisit that mystery later. Best not to mention it to Jin until you’re certain you aren’t crazy—seeing things, or not seeing things. “Yeah. Y-yeah, uh, and I brought snacks, too! Just in case.”
“Good. I’m glad.” He nods, glancing off to the side and pulling air through his teeth. His eyes meet yours again and widen slightly, his grin growing. You can’t help the rise in your chest at his soft look. You’re glad you haven’t disappointed him, haven’t somehow been made late to your agreement. “Are you ready to clean the pond, then?”
“Definitely!”
“Not gonna go back on your word?” He teases.
You huff, crossing your arms, planting your feet in a playful show, already feeling lighter, more determined. “Never.”
He nods approvingly and turns, waving his hand in the down the dirt road, cocking his head. “Then let’s get started, while the day’s young.”

SELF PARA FOR THE MUSE: PARK SEOL-JU.
Featuring: Yours cutely, LIM CHE-RI.
Honourable mentions: JAEWOO (@ the cosmicsens), MOON JAEHYUN.
“The results are in?” “I think so! Wait, they are!” “Who do you think is first?” “I’ll be damned if it’s not Chief Kim.” “That’s just because you have a thing for him.” “Shut up! Are you crazy? Talking loud like that, somebody might hear you.” “You’re not denying it.” “I’m not confirming it either! Don’t be a bitch, Sohee.” “I’m just messin with you. Oh, this way. Let’s go. Oh, there’s Park!” “That’s a haggard look if I’ve ever seen one, do you think she failed? She might have seen the results already.”
Haggard, what was that supposed to mean? One foot in front of the door, dragging her feet across the pristine clean hallways of SNU’s Hospital, Park Seol-ju stared right ahead as she made her way forward, her one and only goal to see if she had passed or failed her exams. One year ago, if someone asked her just how ambitious she was about her exams, she would have said, right off the bat: I’m going to be top of the class, mark my words. Top of the class. She could only scoff at the idea. Perhaps Sohee and Eunju were right, perhaps Chief Kim was number one. On the top of the world. He might have climbed there just so that he could continue looking down at the masses - at the small following of nurse, intern and resident fans he had acquired based on his stereotypically handsome looks, at the juniors who only wished they could be like him. If she was on top of the world, Seol-ju wondered, what would she do? There was no fanbase to look down upon, and she was certain that among her juniors there was only a small gaggle of individuals who might see something worth admiring inside of her.
“Oh, my God, look at that!” somebody gasped.
“Chief Kim! Congratulations,” somebody added. In her peripheral vision, Seol-ju caught Chief Kim being embraced by one of their colleagues, to which Kim responded by putting an arm back around his fellow doctor - was that Lee Myungsoo congratulating, Seolju thought? So he was number one. Taking a deep breath, Seol-ju found herself a spot in the crowd staring at the screens above and started to look for her name, not from the top down as the majority did, but from the bottom up, and as she climbed further without finding her own name, her ears started to ring, her foggy brain taking her back, much against her will, to this same exact moment, years and years ago, when she was looking at placement results of her first year of high school final exams.
Jiwon was number nine. Cheolsoo had not even made it in the top fifty. Taewoo was nearly a tie with number twenty-eight. Soo-ahn was number two. Seol-ju, who had spent days and nights preparing for the exams, eagerly searched for her name and felt a cold wave washing over her when she saw, at number three: PARK Seol-ju. Number three.
“Holy crap!” Jiwon who was right next to her exclaimed. She spun around and yelled, “Hyoju-yah, congratulations!”
Seol-ju looked up at number two: LEE Soo-ahn.
Number one: PARK Hyo-ju.
Her ears began to ring. Her heart, heavy, filled with lead, slowed down to a rhythm that was just enough for her to survive. Number one: PARK Hyo-ju. The words kept rushing through her head, at first at the pace of bewildered bees looking for their suddenly lost queen and then slowing down to the pace of her aching heart, sending waves of throbbing pain throughout her chest and abdomen.
“What? You’re kidding, no way!” Hyoju said, craning her neck to look at the screen. “CRAP!”
“Congratulations, Hyoju,” Soo-ahn, who had been on Seol-ju’s other side, said tentatively. Seolju could hear it, the strained tone of his voice, the hesitation as his eyes lingered on the older of the twins. Before walking away, he squeezed Seolju’s forearm, offering her a moment’s worth of gravity, to keep her from drifting out of her very being and into...Outer space, or wherever it would be that the winds of what she thought of as cruel, cosmic fate would take her.
That night, Hyoju and she had a fight. Hyoju had been in the bathroom, combing her freshly washed hair when Seolju approached, saying, “Cheater.”
She watched as Hyoju’s nose and forehead wrinkled in confusion. Hyoju looked at Seolju through the mirror, locking their eyes in a belligerent stare as she asked, “What are you talking about?”
“I saw you copying from Soo-ahn. I wonder what mom and dad would say if I told them that.” Just two hours ago, their parents had bombarded their younger twin with praises and excitement. And nothing but a bland congratulatory wish to their older twin. Pathetic, Seolju thought.
“I wasn’t copying. You’re finally running out of things to accuse me of, huh?” Her comb got stuck in a patch of hair, causing her to hiss through her teeth as she tried to disentangle it.
“I know what I saw. And it’s just the two of us here, Hyoju-yah, you don’t need to pretend.” Taking a step inside, Seolju reached for the scented candle glass and blew it out, sniffing the smoke that came twirling upwards in a vortex of apple and cinnamon.
“Look, if you’re so sure, why don’t you go tell mom and dad, then? Don’t stop there,” the comb finally smoothed through the patch and Hyoju could continue her fight with the left side, finding this one far more agreeable with the brushing. “Go and tell the teachers. The principal. I’m sure they’d love to investigate.”
Seol-ju paused, glancing at her sister. Her cold tone, her blatant lies, tugged at each string of Seolju’s nerves. She wanted, so hard, to grab that comb and pluck out every single strand of Hyoju’s hair. One right after the other. “You know. Maybe I just will do that. Starting with mom and dad.” With the glass in her hand still, Seolju turned around, wondering how she could prove what she had seen, when Hyoju stopped brushing and said, “You’re just mad, aren’t you? That you’re nobody’s number one anymore.”
Seolju stopped in her steps and stared ahead. “What?”
“You’re just mad that I outdid you in something that you’re always so good at.” Hyoju snorted. “Is that it? You’re mad that Jiwon and I got closer, and that Taewoo is not paying so much attention to you, so you’re just taking it out on me.”
Seolju turned around slowly, her eyes bloodshot with anger. She was simmering, and slowly but surely Hyoju was bringing her to a boil. “What. Did you say?” Her hand was squeezing the candle glass, threatening to crush it right between her fingers.
“I said you’re just jealous.”
The glass flew towards Hyoju, missing her head by half a foot. Hyoju screamed as the glass shattered against the bathroom mirror, breaking that too. That night, Seolju was grounded by her parents for the first time. One month of no hanging out with her friends, no television, no comic books, no leisure time whatsoever. She had never got a chance to prove Hyoju had only got to number one because she cheated, either. With an injured hand and a wounded pride, all Seolju could do at that time was simmer with rage.
“You’re just jealous,” Sohee giggled, the tone of her voice a perfect imitation of Hyoju. She turned around and looked at Seolju. “Congratulations, Doctor Park.”
“What?” Seolju asked in a haze as her heart beat increased. She could not find her name. Up and up she went and it was not...any...Where. Wait.
“You’re number two! You and Chief Kim really beat us all.” Sohee exclaimed.
And truly, right under Kim’s name stood: PARK Seol-ju. Number two.
She exhaled. Somebody embraced her from behind, thin arms hanging from her neck. It was Che-ri. The nurse placed a sloppy kiss on Seolju’s cheek.
“Congrats, bitch. I knew you could do it. We’re all going to celebrate tonight, you must come.”
Seolju shook her head and wrinkled her nose. “I’m not sure I’m coming.”
“Don’t be stupid, it’s a party for the Top Ten. Come on, don’t make me go there if you’re not gonna come.”
“Fine,” Seolju sighed and turned around. “I’ll see you tonight then.” As she was walking away, the texted two people:
Private Ahn 🐰 and Ugly Brat💀: I’m number two. I passed. xx

SMILE LIKE YOU MEAN IT,
save some face, you know you've only got one change your ways while you're young @nasangft
it’s starting to get bad.
junho comes home later than he has in the past, his manager never thinking to question him because leaders are supposed to be busy and out of the dorms often. strings’ light schedules make sneaking out easy, almost like taking candy from a baby; he’s perfected his lies that his debut self would shun him for making. i got caught up writing lyrics at a cafe has become his recent go to following his continuous rendezvous with eunju that, contrary to his white lies, have not consisted of any variety of musical composition.
but he does begin to return home happier with more pep in his step, which is also somewhat odd for a boy who is supposed to be stressed out over maintaining his group. he’s growing careless of his actions and he knows it in the back of his mind, but refuses to take off the rose-colored lenses and snap out of this irresponsible, lovesick pit of quicksand he’s gotten himself stuck inside. it’s doing more harm than good to his group — re-arranging his priorities that he’d been so confident were in order before.
it’s past ten when he arrives back to his dorm, not the latest he’s returned home, but not so early, either. his members tell him that their manager has run out to the convenience store to grab a few things and would be back in awhile; junho assumes he’s probably going to take his time drinking a bottle of soju outside (and he doesn’t blame him, the man has unknowingly had to pick up much of junho’s slack these days). most of them know why he hadn’t been back hours earlier but don’t bring it up — they’re all fully aware of where he really was.
“hey,” junho grunts after he’s taken off his jacket and draped it over the arm of the couch that nasang lays on the opposite side of, sitting himself down with a slight huff of air. truthfully he feels somewhat incompetent asking his members these sort of questions, because he knows he should be there to participate in the first place. “you get much work done today?”

PRODUCE PROJECT: FINALE
Three months later, we stand at the end of the Pro.J road and thank you for your involvement over the course of the project! This is, however, only the beginning for your muses, as they are now successfully set to debut in the two project groups. Promotions are scheduled to begin in October, with the girls releasing their song first and the boys following, a pattern that will repeat thereafter. We have tentatively scheduled 3 songs for each group, with a wrap on their promotions in March, though this may be adjusted in the future to account for debuting trainee groups and attempts not to have muses promoting two songs at the same time. For more information, head below the cut!
BASICS.
For the purposes of headcanons, there were no votes on the final episode, just a final round of performances geared for the judges to determine positions and capabilities for the contestants as a whole.
Spots that open in the groups will NOT be reservable after debut. If someone drops they’re simply removed and one can assume an NPC in their place.
As a result, to avoid confusion, group information and so on will only be listed on this blog.
Over the next week we’ll be updating this blog in various ways to prepare it for this new phase of the Produce Project. When we have more completed there we’ll let you know!
As debuted project idols, trainees will be able to purchase more from the shop than they were previously capable of doing, though there are some avenues which we’ll still limit for their future debuts. For instance, brand endorsements will be given to the project groups as a whole, but minor commercials and various photoshoots/spreads/covers could be purchased at this point.
They are now eligible to participate in the subplot varieties and we’d actually highly encourage it, it’s something that would give them a lot of exposure and be perfectly reasonable given their status.
You are now able to add exp for the number of episodes you participated in, up to 30 exp for those who were actively involved in all three episodes. (10 for one episode, 20 for two, etc). Link this post on your points tracker.
GIRL’S DEBUT : PROLOGUE
Debuting under the name Prologue, the female outfit from Produce Project has been noted for their sweet, fresh visuals, quirky charms, and a surprisingly solid vocal line to come out of something that is essentially a popularity contest. A lot of eyes are on Minyoung and Ryu Myungeun in particular, as they proved themselves standout vocalists but neither were included in the recent debut lineup of the 99 group Glimmer. The MSG trainee girls are drawing a lot of attention for their performance abilities and quirky charms, being dubbed stan attractors within the group already. Jiae and Suhee are being seen as well rounded members that serve to anchor the team in the midrange, and Hyejin and Seoyeon boast unique, striking visuals that are drawing attention. The more gossip hungry fans are eager to point out that the fact Minyoung and Ryu Myungeun were left off the 99 Entertainment lineup could mean a few things - either the girls refused the offer because of problems with other potential members or they were actually the problematic contingent themselves and were thus not asked to debut. Those eager to bolster their own individual favorites are quick to point out the perceived kind and hardworking attitudes of the MSG and Midas trainees in comparison, often stating on Pann that they hope a few “rotten apples” don’t spoil the bunch. The finale episodes drew more support than the prior, as viewers were given a chance to approach the girls as a whole rather than being encouraged to pick out a singular favorite to compare to the others critically, which the staff hopes will reduce the likelihood of single-stans. Bit late for that, probably, but it’s worth a try. The overall positive image and mid to high screentime garnered by the MSG girls has viewers eagerly awaiting a debut from the company upcoming, with some company stans wishing they’d just debut on their own now, particularly given the buzz Eunju has received in the final episodes for being evenly talented across the board in dance, vocal, and rap.
main vocal - @idmyungeun main vocal - @idminyoung lead vocal - @idjiae lead vocal - @idsuhee main dance - @idhyejin main rap, lead vocalist - @ideunju lead rap, lead dance - @idhwarin vocalist - @idmeihua vocalist - @idseoyeon
BOY’S DEBUT: PROMO
The boys have faced an uphill battle, for the most part, losing out in votes as an influx of uncle fans assured the girls higher numbers and saved more of them from elimination. With the final roundup leaning heavily on Puck’s vocals, Galaxy fans are both cautiously optimistic and annoyed. With their main vocal, Puck, having shown a lackluster, largely tired performance in the final round, fans and producers alike are worried he’s spread to thin, carrying the weight of the group on his back and still promoting in Galaxy. With Jiho taking on the brunt of the rapping, it stands to reason his other skills would be called into question somewhat, and fans are worried by his weak dancing. Dax presents hope for the group as an anchor point and all around solid member, demonstrating a high performance capability and a solid, unique voice. However, with two of their prominent members already debuted under other groups, fans worry that the split attention will cause trouble, particularly given the high frequency of MSG and Midas promotions, whereas the female trainees that have debuted did so under 99, famed for infrequent promotions. Fans have taken to the boys as an underdog story on the whole, with the show crafting a narrative of struggling, often overlooked boys from disparate backgrounds just trying to make it on stage together. This image has caused a recent influx in pann articles about the character of the boys, often done in subtle or outright comparison to issues raised amongst the female contestants.
* Assume some lead vocals / subvocalist / sub rap NPC roles exist to round out the lineup. main vocal - @idpuck main dance, lead vocal - @iddax main rap - @idjiho

serendipity,
starter for @idhyunjin september, 2018
“oppa,” eunju prompts, drawing out the vowels until her tone is appropriately bratty and attention-grabbing. it’s back to business now that kcon has come and gone, back to endless hours of practicing and training and pretending that the rules don’t exist in her transient existence as a trainee-turned-survival-show-contestant. but as it stands, eunju’s schedule is clear for what feels like the first time in months, years, even, and she intends to make the most of it and the most of anything quite usually involves tugging on the sleeve of whatever galaxy member had been unlucky enough to be on the receiving end of her boredom. the victim of the day, one she’s particularly fond of, is seo hyunjin.
he’s a bit uptight on the best of days, sure, but he’s been a constant in her life since she became a trainee. she feels kind of lucky, really, that things hadn’t changed much at all following his debut with galaxy, her tendency to cling and follow surely serving as a guarantee of that. she makes friends everywhere she goes, makes sure of it, but there’s something in the assurance and constance that hyunjin brings that’s made him someone she intends to keep around for as long as he’ll let her.
not that she’d ever let him not let her stick around, but the sentiment remains: hyunjin is like family to eunju, her home away from home that had long since helped with the loneliness of life on her own and had just as firmly reminded her the importance of chosen kin.
it’s luck alone that they also happen to be forced to live in msg sanctioned dormitories.
as it is, she’s let herself in with the intention of catching up with him after a long time of little contact bar seeing each other in passing at the after party and making faces at each other over rows of seats before the plane took off back home for seoul. it’s been weeks since then, most of which have been spent filming for the final episodes of the produce project. “hyunjin oppa,” she says again, already beelining toward what she knows to be his room. “i literally don’t care if you’re naked, you’re legally obligated to spend time with me today.”
