The film follows three generations of a Palestinian family, tracking cycles of trauma beginning with the 1948 displacement from Jaffa and continuing through occupation, violence and present day heartbreak in the West Bank.

An acclaimed filmmaker and actor, Dabs stars as well, anchoring the film as a devastated mother to a teenaged son injured by an Israeli soldier. As her son's life hangs in the balance, the grief-struck woman tries to make sense of her family and people's heritage. Actors - and brothers - Saleh Bakri ("The Blue Caftan") and Adam Bakri ("Omar") co-star alongside father Mohammad Bakri ("Boy From Heaven"), making the project a truly intergenerational portrait.

An in-demand TV helmer with credits on "Only Murders in the Building," "Ramy" and "Ozark," the Palestinian-American auteur broke out with her first feature, "Amreeka."

TERRORGRAM - Filmmaker Jason Yu discusses his feature film debut, SLEEP, with FEARS Magazine's executive editor, Joseph B Mauceri.

In Jason Yu’s feature film debut, SLEEP, he introduces us to Newlyweds Hyun-su, an aspiring actor, and Soo-jin, a successful executive, who have their domestic bliss up-ended when Hyun-su begins speaking in his sleep. He sits up in bed and ominously states, “Someone’s inside.” From that night on, whenever he falls asleep, Hyun-su sleepwalks doing bizarre things, with no recollection of what happened the night before. Overwhelmed with anxiety that he may hurt himself or their young family, Soo-jin can barely sleep because of this irrational fear.

Is Hyun-su’s behavior a result of a medical condition or a more sinister underlying cause? Despite treatment and taking precautions, Hyun-su’s sleepwalking intensifies, and Soo-jin begins to feel that her unborn child may be in danger. With her options running out, she turns to her mother and her shaman to look into alternative causes and solutions.

Director Jason YU was not a film major. He storytelling as part of a literary writing course in college. After his military service, he immersed himself in films, watching building a true passion for the cinema. Jason joined a film club and began creating short films, among his 8 short films his film VIDEO MESSAGE that was screened in the competition sections of the Seoul Independent Film Festival and IndieForum Film Festival. His short film THE FAVOR won the Fantastic Short Film Award at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. His short film work lead to him working as one of the assistant directors on films like SECRETLY, GREATLY and OKJA, as well as translating English subtitles for BURNING. His desire to create genre films that audiences could enjoy, as well as his fascination sleepwalking, inspired by real cases of patients with the disorder, YU wondered about the daily lives of those around the affected individuals, including their families.

FEARS Magazine's joseph B. Mauceri spoke with Jason YU shortly before the films US release on September 27th, 2024, from Magnet Releasing.

Remember the phrase "famous last words"? Hugh Jackman certainly does. After playing Wolverine nine times, culminating in 2017's Logan, he vowed never to return. However, seeing the first Deadpool film changed everything.

Jackman realized Wolverine had more life in him and saw the potential for a classic buddy movie dynamic, reminiscent of 48 Hours or The Odd Couple. During a recent press conference for Deadpool & Wolverine, Jackman shared how he initiated the process of bringing Wolverine back alongside his friend, Ryan Reynolds.

if you have yet to watch Twin Peaks, please do yourself the favor. the first episode is arguably a bit dry and slow-paced, but i recall being hooked by the third.

aside from Buñuel or Jodorowsky—i'd reference Lynch as definitively mastering Surrealism in the cinematic medium [Eraserhead]. but as far as Twin Peaks, being the first of its kind regarding television genres, i truly couldn't cite anything since the original Twilight Zone series utilizing purely surreal elements that weren't emulating '70s psychedelia. RIP Lynch, you will be missed.

Cleopatra (1917) - Newly Discovered Footage

Another excerpt from ‘Cleopatra’ (1917) has been found! After last year’s discovery of a small excerpt from Salome (1918) we now have another piece of film history.

The story goes that this piece of film was incuded in a lot of old film cuttings on ebay; once the byer had restored them, the call was put out on facebook for anyone who could recoginse the film.

I follow the thevintagecostumecollector on instagram who was able to identify Theda straightaway & is lucky enough to own a couple of Theda’s costume pieces himself!

It makes me so happy knowing there are gems still to be found over 100 years later & Theda’s legacy is a little less lost.
