oh boy I finished (citation needed) a new game time to add to the veedia tag again
metal: hellsinger (ps4)
Tumblr media
this game is Lovely. this game is so fun. I cannot aim to save my god damn life. metal hellsinger accomplished a major feat in having the only possible setup in the entire world to encourage me to play a first person shooter (being, really good metal and rhythm mechanics) and to that I applaud it because I consider fpses to be sort of my mortal enemy? right next to mmos and fighters? im gonna go into it more let me not take up ur entire dash.
the gameplay is Lovely. i did play on easy mode but ough the. shotgun cocking effects to the beat of a good metal song. there is Nothing Like It. the difficulty is Honestly Not Bad ** given some practice time and its very much a delight to play. well. save for one part but ill get to that. its a darkly lit game which is a problem but all of the enemies are color coded, glow, and have their own sounds and that alleviates it a bit.
i will say that the game is. Not Optimized to PS4? it is. Quite Glitchy and while I don't mind most of them i know some people do and there were a few that very much got in my way (i posted the acheron boss glitch a couple hours ago). also sometimes enemies just get stuck in the floor and youre waiting for them to pop up so you can move on. thats fun. also the bug enemies suck. the shield enemies also suck. those arent glitches i just hate them.
as for plot uh. this game was not made for plot. i accept this. its kinda Just Okay but it doesnt really need to be more than that. you play a scary demon lady who wants nothing more than to rip the devil limb from limb. whats better than that. youve got a troy baker skull. the plot there is admittedly pretty cute especially if you try to analyze the lyrics but i am also very much a sap and it hit a specific genre of Relationship In Media That Is So (Kinda Just There) Its Not Even A Subplot which is one of the few genres i can actually stand. i will say i feel i got a bit beauty and the beasted at the ending but like. eh. it wasnt that much. anyway. next point
theres no bad songs in here. my favorite is this devastation easily. ost introduced me to arch enemy which is a band you can all tell I'm normal about. the lyrics only kick in when youre at max multiplier so being able to hear a good drop is a good motive to get decent and not get hit. i think my ranking of songs is this devastation - no tomorrow - burial at night/stygia - dissolution and then everything else is kind of at the bottom in no particular order. not to say i dont like them but theyre all the same level of like. also serj tankian is there. he is lovely. he does the final boss theme (no tomorrow) that I wish I could fucking hear him over damage sound effects and myself swearing. yeah now we get to that
** The Final Boss Is Bad. yeah my main problem (and kinda only Real Problem) with this game is uh. i dont think i can actually finish it? there is an Enormous difficulty spike at the final boss to the point where my first run of lasted a solid Two Minutes if that and i am on easy mode. my friend described it as (game is touhou now) and yeah i can see it. first person touhou. nobody wants to play first person touhou. i dont want to play first person touhou. i didnt actually beat the game i just watched the ending and resolved to get back to it when i feel like it (never) and do better things with my time. like draw unknown in little outfits.
anyway thats My Thoughts. its a good game and i will probably keep playing the levels over n over. for people who dont replay these games over n over it is definitely not worth the money as you can pretty easily slash through all the levels in one sitting if you know what youre doing but i am easily entertained and love rhythm games. stay tuned for doodles of the unknown with my general fashion sense. listen to the two best tunes also. maybe listen to the whole ost after if u like it.

Note
hi you got me interested in tokusatsu and i was wondering what would be a good one to start with?
[insert sickos yes!!!! meme]
right okay so starting off with the big three series
Ultraman R/B: i admittedly have not watched this, but i consulted with my friend henri who has and this was the top recc for ultras. so yknow! reports say theres lesbians in this. in general seasons of ultraman tend to be shorter so its an easier watch
Kamen Rider Fourze: this is genuinely such a good rider which is why my url is based on it. the setting is just, japanese high school based on american high school but specificially the kind you see in movies about being in high school, starring gentaro who is determined to befriend everyone in the universe, and a very cute space theme + the power of friendship. when i was watching it i kept being like "wow gentaro is literally a magical girl protag" bc he has such infectious cheerful energy :)
Gokaiger: I feel like this is THE quintissential anniversary season. funky space pirate polycule accidentally stumbles into the role of protecting earth. There's a lot of features of past sentais as well as tons of actors reprising their roles for this one, so if you spot a different sentai you think you might like this is imo the best showcase of it. ahim is also #mygirlboss
now this next recc is an independently made toku but its really really good and i'd be remiss to not mention it
Dogengers: Local heroes in the Fukuoka prefecture are left scattered to the wind after the villainous Yabai Kamen manages to take over! It's up to a newly recruited hero, "Rookie", to bring them back together. Dogengers also has a second and third season, being Nice Buddy and High School, respectively.
-
Okay now this section is like "ones I really enjoyed but I wouldn't really consider them incredibly optimal starting points but i like the them"
Shinkenger: Shinken is a bit more of a serious romp, but its done soooo well it makes me go silly mode every time. Featuring a crew of samurai descended from a long line of warriors, they're all just doing their best to finally defeat the evil spirits that enter the human world. Takeru is such a team lead ever and i like how everyone on the team has a different opinion about their duty. yknow.
Gekiranger: GECK GECK!!!! tldr there are two schools of arts in a power struggle, beast arts and evil beast arts. you will never be able to guess who the antagonists belong to based on these naming conventions. starring the most feral man i have ever seen in my life [bc he was taken from the jungle], jan, who is a naturally talented fighter chosen to help defeat the evil beast arts users for the sake of humanity or something. my personal favorite character is mele who is in fact evil but she was really hot while doing it so she gets a pass. her transformation is a chameleon and her suit is designed so that the eyes of the chameleon are positioned directly where her tits are, which is a detail i cannot ignore
Donbrothers: this one is currently ongoing and frankly i dont know how to explain it. its definitely a departure from traditional sentais, featuring the main team in more of an ensemble arrangement since for the majority of the show they dont all know each others identities. theres a lot of major moving parts and its honestly a really wild ride, but i enjoy seeing how the different story pieces unfold. the main character is haruka kito, the most 17 year old high school girl ever who is a disgraced mangaka. she is stubborn and honestly a spitfire, and there is something wrong with her. at one point she gets kidnapped and goes "wow! this will be a great experience to put into my next manga!" even though there is not a single publishing agency that would touch her stuff with a 10 foot pole. she is an inspiration to me to become less normal. donbrothers is technically a sequel to the series right before it, but i dont think you need to watch it because there is exactly one character carried over and he is nothing like how he was in the previous season.
Den-o: oughhh the . with the scrumbly... den-o is genuinely one of my favorite riders as well. the main character Ryoutarou is one of the most sopping wet pathetic 18 year old guys ever and he is being so brave about it. hes a bit of an airhead and definitely a pushover, but its honestly one of the reasons i love him so much. den-o is about ryoutarou becoming a rider with the help of possession from 4 other imagin, which are beings sprung up from the sands of time which seek out people with strong desires to grant their wishes. once those wishes are fufilled, the imagin can enter the past of a person and wreak havoc. the goal of most normal imagin[read: not the ones that hang out with ryou] is to destroy the future, but Ryoutarou and his gaggle of weirdos ride the Denliner to help protect it. It's soooo good okay. den o was super popular so it has a billion spinoff mini series and cameos in other riders but i think it stands best on its own
Exaid: now i want to be clear here and tell you. exaid is not good. exaid is okay and is good in my mind. but it was my first rider so i am attached. It's a part medical drama part video game full time wild fuckin ride where our main character Emu Hojo becomes an intern at a special hospital unit where the staff is able to transform into riders to help fight against the Bugster virus, a special strain of disease that if left untreated allows bugsters [video game entities] to manifest in the real world, killing the patient in the process. The medical drama part is really just a catalyst to the video game stuff, but seeing Emu have his patience tested by the most insane men in the world is worf. Also the nurse Asuna/Poppy is literally sooooo virusgender and I want to steal her gender so bad. i would talk abt dan kuroto since youve probably seen me post abt him before but i feel hes best experienced than explained. just know hes got autism and issues.
Changerion: prolly the oldest toku ive picked up, this one isnt really comparable to anything. its definitely slower paced than the other series ive reccomended so far, and it can definitely feel unfocused. it also suffers from having a reduced episode count [which was cut due to lack of popularity]. in spite of this, i think it was one of my favorite watches ever. The main character, Akira, is a wildly out of control bisexual man. on adderall. He's a detective without work and the first case he manages to land in a while ends up with him in a car crash that grants him the ability to transform. However, instead of being excited with his new purpose in life, he pretty much just tries to slack off and dodge responsibility as much as possible, much to the chagrin of Hayami [the man originally meant to be the one transforming]. Akira very reluctantly fights against the darkzeid, who feast on humanity for power and can open gateways to whats pretty much just a hell dimension. Kuroiwa is a standout character as well, being an antagonist but just so bizzarely charming he ended up as a favorite. He's a darkzeid who wants to integrate with humanity but instead of finding normal ways to do it, he just tries taking over japan. yknow how it is.
EDIT: chewing on glass how could I forget
The High School Heroes: this is only 8 episodes very short but also the episodes are long so it's longshort. Featuring a tokuota (toku otaku) who's obsessed with gorengers(first ever sentai) bringing together his classmates to form a defense club since students keep mysteriously turning into monsters! Also featuring a transfem character who's arc made me cry and she's also my best friend btw. There's a lot of references to gorengers overall but you don't have to know it to go oh it looks cool
-
sorry this is such a long post i wanted to give you a lot of options and also just like. theres a lot of good points to different series and each one offers something different in theme and tone. also i probably couldve recommended more but this is already such a big list. okay glhf

Transformers Siege (WFC) character review!(1/2)
Instead of separating from decepticons and autobots (mainly because of the Predacons and maximals), I’m going to put them in order of which bots I really feel like talking about the most! So, here we go!
*watch for swearing, spoilers, and possible thirst.
/Also, alt modes will NOT be available for this series. They kinda don’t transform too much, and when they do, they hardly let me get a shot, sooo/
Optimus Prime!!;
Tumblr media
This Optimus did a full 180 for not only my opinion, but for his own characterization. This Optimus started out as impulsive, reckless, ignorant of other’s opinions, and quite frankly, was just frustrating to deal with. He was the one who essentially sent the Cybertron into a total fuck storm, and as such, doomed MANY lives, including the one of his love, Elita one. Honestly, Optimus is kinda. Dumb, honestly? He literally sent the live source of Cybertron into the vastness of space, just to keep Megatron from winning the war. Literally, EVERYONE hated him at the start, from Bumblebee to Ratchet. Then, get this- he learned from his mistakes. From Skylynx, to the Optimus Primal, to the soul of Elita, to Optimus and Ratchet and even Megatron- he had so many influences telling him what he did wrong. Towards the end of the series, he became the classic, noble, somewhat self conscious mech we all grew to know and love. Honestly? 9/10. He isn’t perfect. Far from it, but damn Optimus KNOWS this, and that’s so great- I can go all day, you guys (also that one moment where he asked Megatron to forgive him at gunpoint, such a good fucking scene).
Elita one!!;
Tumblr media
I love her. SO much. She’s a QUEEN. She has been ignored, she has been held hostage, she’s been punched and kicked and shot at-my girl has been through hell. And she carries it WELL. Not only is she FINE, but she is bold, smart, and she is STUBBORN in her beliefs. She is also a natural born leader, and I honestly and really appreciate her. Her death was honestly one of the sadder moments, but her soul’s reunion with Optimus was one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen. I wish we saw more of her, honestly and desperately (plus she has so many character interactions, there’s SO many ways you can go about her character, it’s incredible). 10/10 my girl is a fighter and she was so ride or die for Optimus (even though I lowkey ship her with those three little cons, ya’ll know the ones) 💕.
Megatron!!(Siege);
Tumblr media
Every Megatron has something different about them. For example, this series has two Megatron’s (three because Galvatron), but we’re talking about the Megatron that we start the series with. The sort of ‘G1’ Megatron. This Megatron has a few...issues. Lips aside, this Megatron has a few things I’d change about him. He’s insane, he’s incredibly selfish, and honestly? His character interactions leave something to be desired, in my opinion. However, he does have a blend of good traits. You guys remember Prime Wars Megatron? How this man refused to go down without being ‘fuck you’ to his opponent? This Megatron had those moments, telling Galvatron right the fuck off when he tried to present him with a decision to join him. I love a Megatron that refuses to back down. I also appreciated the regret he clearly has for stuff he did (we all remember what happened to that one power plant), and I appreciate that In a Megatron. Couple that with the pompous villain aesthetic (he had his own pictures hung up on a wall for fucks sakes). However, he isn’t my favorite Megatron (that’s a tie between Prime/Prime Wars Megatron). 7/10. Fun in some cases, but not someone I think I’ll deem my favorite Megatron.
Megatron!!(beast wars);
Tumblr media
This Megatron was kinda doomed from the start. From the issue with his VA (not everyone can be David Kaye, but still), to the odd way he simped over the other Megatron, kinda made me dislike seeing him on the screen. Don’t me wrong, he wasn’t AWFUL, and like everyone else on the show he LOOKED good and his VA did...okay. Listen, he had a REALLY good simp voice. But beast wars Megatron actually saw the old Megatron as an old fool. Now he suddenly worships him? It kinda makes this Megatron look pathetic, and I’m not really into it. 4/10. I’m sorry, but I appreciated him more when he wasn’t on screen.
Ironhide!!;
Tumblr media
He did like. Nothing in this series. He only really spoke to tell Optimus what he did. He’s just so cute and I liked hearing him speak. Not the same Ironhide voice, but still I love him terribly 10/10 he is but a baby waby.
Sideswipe!!;
Tumblr media
He did like, two things in total in this series, and BOTH made me feel something. He also misses his brother Sunny and it honestly hurt me. Someone hold and support him, 8/10 this precious bundle of red-
Skyfire!!;
Tumblr media
This Skyfire actually starts off as not only a decepticon, but a HIGH ranking decepticon, pretty much Megatron’s second hand. He was pretty decepticon motivated, up until Megatron decided the whole genocide of an entire race was too much for her. Honestly his role was a LOT like MTMTE Impactor in this series. A close believer changed to the opposite side, because Megatron’s dumbass got carried away. This Skyfire died, but up until that, he was determined to help the cause. He was literally willing to have a bomb implanted into him just to prove he was with the autobots. He was bold, stubborn, and everyone he interacted with was GREAT. 8/10. Tbh, probably my second favorite Skyfire (hard to compete with Cyberverse).
Impactor!!;
Tumblr media
Pretty much the first time I’ve seen him in a show (at least noticeably) and I appreciated his little debut here. Impactor betrayed the decepticon, and in the best way possible. Not because he thought the cause was wrong, but because he got a super hot medic boyfriend, who JUST so happens to be an autobot. Seriously, ratchet fixed his booboos and Impactor just went ‘Listen I’d die for you’. Did anyone but Ratchet trust him? Nope. Did Mirage like him? Nope. Did we give a shit because he was very literally, ride or die for Ratchet? Also nope. Like this dude deadass was willing to go through the ‘we don’t trust decepticons’ bullshit, JUST because Ratchet swept him off his feet. 10/10, Impactor didn’t deserve to die, he deserved to be the hostile gay to suit the hostile lesbian that was Blackarachnia. 💜
Ratchet!!;
Tumblr media
This Ratchet was like. The ONLY Ratchet I’ve ever seen, who just fucking hated Optimus. Seriously, this dude just wanted to be alone with his husband. Wanted NO part of Optimus, no part of Bumblebee, NO ONE. He’s sarcastic, bitter, and he WILL give you shit over Impactor or any of his patients. He’s a sour/sweet old man and even though I wish I saw him more, I love him and adore him with my big ol’ heart. 9/10, everyone can eat my ass I’m not over Impactor still.
Wheeljack!!;
Tumblr media
Chaotic bastard. Smartass, dumbass, gay ass, and the first character to say ‘ass’, I love him. He doesn’t play much in terms of actual plot stuff (he’s like, a support character tbh) but the few times he was on screen, I loved him. It was like someone gave Danny Devito a PHD. 8/10, just needed to be able to give more one liners like he deserved.

Okay, Choice Reasonings
Optimus and Megatron- Kind of the obvious choices, y'know? It's Op's and Meg's. Biggest change is how Megatron doesn't much mind Organic life. Earth isn't Cybertron, he doesn't care about it much other than the energon there, but neither leaders want to drag humans in if they can help it (Optimus to protect the humans, Megatron to protect the Cybertronians). Other than that it's Old Men as always.
Hot Rod- Listen Bee, I love you, but I want something else in my life. And Hot Rod has always been among my favorites, and having a show to explore who he is beyond Rodimus is nice. (Hi Cyberverse, yes your influence is here in both Hot Rod and Soundwave.) He's the hot shot (not that one) of the group with something to prove and lessons to learn.
Soundwave- Another favorite, Soundwave is also inspired by his Cyberverse incarnation, with his relationship with Hot Rod, and his sound powers. In this show he'd also be a Triple Changer! Allowing for Vehicle and Music Player/Smartphone mode.
Arcee- Became a much more prominent character to me after seeing Rise of the Beasts, but I also want to take some other inspirations for her. Taking a little bit from Animated, I'd say she's an ex-teacher who picked up a sword and hasn't looked back. She still has a habit of going into educator mode, but she doesn't hate it.
Airachnid- Would more likely be closer to Black Arachnia Animated in a way by having her be an ex-autobot mutated to have more Spider-Like features, while still keeping a little hint of "cruelty" in a way, as well as a Helicopter alt-mode. She has a past with Arcee neither really like to talk about.
Springer- Resident friendly, goofy, jock guy, Springer retains his Wrecker membership despite being assigned to Op's team. He stays a triple changer with his Car and Copter modes. He's the big green guy that everyone loves, probably because he also has anxiety.
Thundercracker- A decepticon team needs a Seeker, and I would have other plans for Starscream if I were to use him. My first choice was Skywarp, but I remembered Thundercracker's love of cinema from the comics and thought that would be more interesting in the TV setting. Imagine Thundercracker getting into vlogs.
Red Alert- The team needs a medic, and while I love Ratchet (old man Ratchet especially) I want Red Alert to be a student of the old field medic doing his best to live up to a Legacy that he doesn't really Need to live up to at all. Plus how often is Red Alert actually used? He'd be an ex-fighter like his Unicorn Trilogy self, missing hand and all.
Knockout- Because the team needs a medic, and Knockout is loved. Would love to see him outside of the Aligned universe too. He and Soundwave get along well, both having Ground modes.
Windblade- Beloved city speaker, she's done well in the shows she's shown up in, but I haven't really seen her in a full team I feel. I think she'd be a bit of a loner at first, but start warming up to everyone.
SteelJaw- SteelJaw? Really? Yeah, really. Starscream isn't here, so we need a treacherous role to be filled, and why not give him a second chance at the villain? He'd retain his wolf-like features of course, but he'd be given a new flight based vehicle mode. He'd be far more sneaky in his efforts to undermine Megatron, but still have some attempts foiled. Unlike the leader he outright despises the humans, and the Decepticon Human Ally kind of hates him too.
You know I've been doing something and I believe I've got down pat my own cast of who's who in a Transformers show if I were to make one. I'd love to talk more about these choices later (and the traits unique to them in this series), but for now-
Autobots- Optimus Prime, Hot Rod, Arcee, Red Alert, Springer, Windblade, and a Human Friend.
Decepticons- Megatron, Soundwave (Laserbeak and Ravage included), Thundercracker, Knockout, Airachnid, SteelJaw... And their own Human Friend.

What if there was a Walt Disney Fighting Game? [Video Game Concept]
Note: I am well aware, that Disney would probably never say yes in a million years to this idea. Taking their beloved, child friendly characters and having them fight?!
OH THE HORROR?!
I am also aware there have been concepts for this in the past.
Final Fantasy Dissidia was supposed to be a Kingdom Hearts fighting game, but Nomura felt uncomfortable portraying Disney characters in such a violent atmosphere.
And there are sketches of what a Walt Disney fighting game could've been, inspired by Super Smash Bros, before it was canceled. It would've focused on more violent characters such as Gaston, Beast, Ursula, Captain Hook, Captain Silver and the Horned King. But the idea was dropped.
Here's the link.
This entire post is just building and putting together what a Disney fighting game would look like to me, if one came out in today's world. It's all merely speculation and ideas that's been in the back of my head for awhile.
(Special thanks to @mayflower-gal for helping me set this up. 😁)
Anyways, let's get started!
Part 1: The Plot
For the plot, I believe it would have to be something simple, since this an idea for a first game. It's the start of a potentially huge franchise, so I wanna keep it not only simple, but an aspect that helps kick off the potential series. And pull in many fans, old and new of Disney.
Let's take into account one thing: what's a recurring theme across various Disney movies (and overall media)?
Is it the lovable, comic relief sidekick that makes audiences laugh? Is it the songs that kids find themselves singing, long after the tale is done and the curtain has closed? Is it perhaps, the clever celebrity choices for important side characters?
No, It's the one defining aspect that draws in audiences, both new and old, bringing you to fall in love with the characters as the story is told:
Wishes.
Pinocchio wishes to be a real boy. Beast and all his servants wish to be human again. Tiana wishes to have her own restaurant. Ariel wishes to see the world beyond the sea.
Everyone wishes for something more in their life and have dreams that they wish come true.
What if all those wishes were counted? Collected?
Watched over. Much like a parent to their children. Or a teacher to their students.
Found engaging. Found entertaining. Found comforting. Found peaceful. Found introspective.
Looked at with childlike wonder and glee when accomplished.
But frowned on when those wish for selfish desires. And an even deeper disappointment at those very same inhuman desires, coming true.
Good and bad exists inside every person, it's just a matter of what one chooses to act on and stand by at the end of the day.
What someone wishes for is reflective of that.
Now imagine that same being coming to life and wrecking havoc across the Disney universe. Judging for themself, if any of these colorful, imaginative characters, truly deserve their...
Happily,
Ever
After.
Yep, the main plot of the story mode is all the various Disney characters literally fighting for wishes and dreams to come true...
against the LITERAL embodiment of wishing upon a star.
Each playable character having their own unique ending.
Some endings being repeats of your favorite Disney movies, with some minor changes to acknowledge the game's plot. While others are original due to the wide cast of characters that are available, besides your favorite Disney Heroes.
For example, you beat the story mode as say, Pinocchio, he wishes to be a real boy.
I know it sounds very redundant since a majority of these things already happen in the Disney movies, but I feel as though relieving them would be fun. In addition to some original ones that didn't happen with either the villains or less major characters.
It's only the hypothetical first game and I wanted start with something simple, that fans could easily get into. More complex plots, with more character interactions should be saved for any possible sequels.
Part 2: The Gameplay
The game would be your typical 2D fighting game. You have,
Combos exclusive to every character that requires practice.
Playstyles that make each character feel unique.
Special moves for each character to get the upper hand and the main focus in besting your opponent in 1 VS 1 matches.
Of course, there's dialogue before fights in the character intros. With so many to pick from, it had to be put in somewhere.
It resembles 2D fighting games that you've all no doubt heard of, such as Marvel VS Capcom or Street Fighter.
But what would a Disney fighting game have to offer on the table, in order to survive the overall video game market?
It would have to be something unique and a feature that not only gives it originality, but a chance to stand out with so much creativity and innovation. Practically begging fans for more.
Which is why I present to you: Disney Songs.
Or as this game prompt will call them: Musical Finales.
The highlight of many Disney movies and overall media, the music is what leaves a lasting impression on many audiences. Which is not surprising, since Disney is mostly a musical. At least in terms of most of their films.
With so many iconic songs from throughout the company's history, of course I'll be squeezing them somehow!
Each character has a music meter, that can only be filled up with how the player times and follows the beat of the character they play as. Follow the rhythm and beat of a character, and it will fill up quicker. Get cut off by the opponent and it doesn't fill up.
That beat being the music of the stage each player fights on, by attacking to the music and the same time. Think of it like the Sound Battles mechanic in Mother 3.
Every character has four different kinds of attacks: Neutral, Musical, Wonderful and Special.
Neutral Attacks are normal attacks that are mostly used to set up combos.
Musical Attacks are attacks that deal more impact, when timed with the music of the stage.
Wonderful Attacks can be seen as character oriented attacks, that embody the personality and charm of the character you play as. And can be used to entertain the audience. We'll get into that later.
Special Attacks are unique finisher moves that require a separate meter to be filled up, as with most fighting games.
Now what happens when the music meter is full? A Disney Song starts playing of course!
Say you filled up Cinderella's music meter for example, then "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" starts playing, granting some unique abilities for Cinderella.
Each song would grant different outcomes and bonuses for the various characters. They're not Special Attacks, as that's already a separate mechanic already.
For example, "Part of Your World" starts playing if you're playing as Ariel, filling up the stage with water and slowing down the opponent, giving Ariel a chance to either take advantage of that, bump items into them or create big waves of water.
But what happens if BOTH characters trigger the music meter at the same time?!
Well, that's where this gimmick becomes a fight for which song keeps on playing!
Both songs would start playing, both at the same time and volume. Except, both characters have to compete to see which is stronger.
This is done by the two characters fighting, before triggering a rhythm game between the two. Once one is the victor, the other song fades, while the other stays playing. Doubling the duration of that character's Musical Finale.
Another mechanic is the Entertainment Meter. Every level you fight on has one, that determines which fighter the audience likes more. Via Wonderful attacks, you can charm the audience into supporting you more. This activates things like getting healing items or stat boosts in power and speed. Some of your favorite Disney sidekicks even provide aid from the audience!
It's almost like watching a Disney movie live and being able to interact with the story!
Or the battle system in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
I feel as though this is the best way of keeping the game interesting, giving it an identity of its own and still embodying that magic people will grow to love. It can also lead to some entertaining interactions in the background or foreground of a stage, as the music meter also brings in characters that would not be playable, but support playable characters nonetheless. Like Flounder and Sebastian.
Of course, either feature could be turned off if you're not a fan of that sort of thing, but that's a given.

Part 4: The Roster
The bread and butter of many fighting games, the roster is no doubt one I had a bit of trouble putting together. With so many characters from over the years, it's no surprise. But since this is the outline of a possible first game, here's my interpretation.
Also, the cast is big to avoid being too barren or dull.
And because I had a lot of fun putting it all together.
Mickey Mouse (Mickey Mouse): The all around character of the game, he mostly fights by a series of cartoonish tricks, magic tricks and his paintbrush from Epic Mickey. His Special Attack would have him break the fourth wall like and rewind the fight like an old film projector in reverse. Except he heals, while the opponent receives twice the damage. His Musical Finale "Sorcerer's Apprentice" has him use Yensid's Sorcerer hat to its fullest and give his overall moveset more flashes to distract the opponent and slow them down.
Donald Duck (Donald Duck): Everyone's favorite, greedy mallard and the world's angriest duck. Donald would fight mainly with toon force, his fists, his bad luck and his anger. The more damage he takes, the angrier he gets. His Special Attack would have him don the Duck Avenger persona from his PK days and use a series of superhero gadgets to finish the opponent. His Musical Finale "The Three Caballeros" trades his anger for Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles showing up, making him happy. As they hurt the opponent, each time they hit Donald, to keep him happy.
Goofy (Goofy): Everyone's favorite Disney dad, Goofy joins the fight as not the brightest but with the biggest heart. He has toon force to aid him in some unconventional ways. His Special Attack would have him become Super Goof from his older days. His Musical Finale "Eye To Eye" would restore health everytime he dodges an attack, with a dancing flair to it.
Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarves): The first Disney Princess, Snow White makes her debut and she's not alone. The Seven Dwarves direct most of her attacks, such as tossing rocks, mining tools as weapons and even just grabbing the opponent and tossing them. Snow White herself can sing and command woodland animals to tie up opponents or just fight to defend her. Her Special Attack would have the Dwarves try to roll a boulder, only for lightning to strike on the opponent and the boulder as extra damage. Her Musical Finale "Whistle While You Work" will call on a huge number of forest animals, as they tidy up the stage and Snow White, slowly replenishing her health and slowing down the opponent.
Pinocchio (Pinocchio): Don't lie in his presence, as that nose is not only for show. Pinocchio fights mostly by using his nose as a staff, the Blue Fairy bringing other toys to life to aid him and Jiminy Cricket distracting the opponent with music. Pinocchio's Special Attack would have him wish upon a star and turn himself into a real boy, as the opponent is turned into a puppet and loses damage as a result. Pinocchio's Musical Finale "I've Got No Strings" would cover the stage in thin lines used for puppets: if the opponent touches one, their frozen briefly. If a projectile attack hits, the same happens.
Cinderella (Cinderella): The bell of the ball and someone whom never gives up on kindness, Cinderella will use the dance moves she showed off at the ball for her moveset, having a dancing and musical feel to how she plays and flashy dances to win against the the opponent. With her Fairy Godmother using her magic to help her, such as flashes of light. Her Special Attack would have the clock strike midnight and she leaves behind her glass slipper: once the opponent touches it they get weighed down by a giant magic dress. Cinderella's Musical Finale "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" would have the Fairy Godmother cast a series of spells over the stage, as a new carriage pops up every time Cinderella pulls off a combo. The carriages run over the opponent and can even carry Cinderella to safety.
Peter Pan (Peter Pan): Leader of the Lost Boys and Captain Hook's second biggest pain in the butt, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell are here. Peter Pan has a pocket knife with him and Tinker Bell's pixie dust for aerial attacks. His Special Attack would have him toss a bunch of gold on the opponent, as the rest of the Lost Boys tackles them and beats them up for the treasures. His Musical Finale "You Can Fly" would create a trail of pixie dust behind him, that randomly causes the opponent to either jump too high or too low.
Captain Hook (Peter Pan): Keep all 'ticks' and 'tocks' away from this pirate! Captain Hook has a wide array of hooks to switch between, a flintlock pistol and his sword to win the battle. His Special Attack would have him run away from the Tick-Tock the Crocodile, as said crocodile attacks the opponent instead of Hook. His Musical Finale "A Pirate's Life/Elegant Captain Hook" would call his ship the Jolly Rodger onto the stage, as the pirates on the ship occasionally throw knives at the opponent and shoot at them, everytime Hook is caught in a combo and can't escape.
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty): Aurora, sleeping beauty herself, is doing anything but sleep and her guardians are making sure of that! Her attacks has the Good Fairies use their magic in numerous ways, such as moving objects, animating objects and even petrification. Her Special Attack has Prince Philip show up with the Sword of Truth and the Shield of Virtue, to deal heavy damage on the opponent. Her Musical Finale "Once Upon A Dream" boosts her stats everytime she's hit.
Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty): The Mistress of all Evil, Maleficent uses a wide array of magic powers from cursed, throny vines, to her iconic green fires, she's one tough fighter from a distance. Her Special Attack would have her turn into a dragon and breath fire down on the opponent. Her Musical Finale "Once Upon A Dream" would have her make the opponent more drowsy, each time they hit her, until falling asleep, unless they keep moving.
Robin Hood (Robin Hood): The sly fox of England and one talented theif, this fox focuses on disguises, archery, swordsmanship and woodsmanship to make his way. His Special Attack would have authorities show up to arrest him, as they rain down arrows on the opponent in the process. His Musical Finale "Running Through The Forest" would allow him to dodge all attacks, without needing to hit the controls or input buttons.
Basil of Baker Street (The Great Mouse Detective): World's greatest detective! At least in the mouse world that is. Basil would investigate the stage of the fight, much like a crime scene and even pick up clues that double as weapons, such as a propeller or a mouse trap. His Special Attack would have him investigate a crime scene that hurt the opponent, before pushing them aside as 'worthless' evidence. His Musical Finale "Let Me Be Good To You" would have him require no further evidence and counter each hit with a deduction on his opponent's crime and even stop them from performing combos. Doing damage in the process.
Professor Ratigan (The Great Mouse Detective): Never call him a rat. Ever. This crime boss of the miniature crime world be no stranger to fist fights and gleefully take a swing at your demise, whether it's his fists, cane or traps. If not him, then his minions are more than happy to drown some orphans! His Special Attack would have him call his pet cat, Felicia to devour the opponent. His Musical Finale "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" would give him more durability to hits, more destruction to the stage and traps cover more range on the stage.
Ariel (The Little Mermaid): Princess of the Sea, everyone's favorite mermaid is ready to explore beyond the sea. Armed with her father's trident, some amazing swimming skills and various sea animals at her command, she's more than ready. Her Special Attack would have her conjure a giant wave, that also covers the opponent in sea creatures. Her Musical Finale "Part Of Your World" fills the stage with water and can have Ariel bump floating objects into the opponent.
Ursula (The Little Mermaid): The last sea witch you would want to cross paths with, Ursula has eels to do her biding, poisonous ink clouds and even thunderclouds. Her Special Attack would have her turn giant via King Triton's trident and use the added power to attack the opponent. Her Musical Finale "Poor Unfortunate Souls" has her disguise herself as the opponent and slowly regain health from all souls being eaten by her. As a bonus, if she's infront of a mirror that's on the stage, her reflection will be her true form.
Belle (Beauty and the Beast): My, quite an odd girl, reading books and getting on the field of battle?! Belle's entire moveset would revolve around books; not magic books, just books on the rest of the cast and fairytales overall. She would be able to switch between each of these books and use what she's learned from them. For Example, 'Romeo and Juliet' gives Belle immunity to stat changes and rose themed weapons that hurt the opponent, like throwing weapons. 'Aladdin' gives her a magic ring that can conjure up magic smoke, furniture on the foe and teleport her. 'Jack and the Beanstalk' plants vines that can raise her up or entangle the foe. There's more books at her disposal, but that's just the general idea. Her Special Attack has her father ride in on his invention, chopping up an entire forest until the opponent is covered and crushed by chopped up logs. Her Musical Finale "Tale As Old As Time" gives her the power to 'skip' a fairytale, turning each of her attacks into the endings from the books. For example, 'Aladdin' would trap the opponent in an oil lamp, leaving room for her to attack.
Beast (Beauty and the Beast): The poor and cruel prince, turned into a monster as evil as the one in his heart. Beast has his boost in strength from his beastly form and claws to defeat the opponent. The curse not only affected him: his servants are by his side. Lumiere can incinerate the opponent or plant fires on the ground, Cogsworth can distract them with timed clock sounds, Mrs. Potts can spill tea to slip up the opponent, Chip will knock over bookshelves and Wardrobe can block attacks. His Special Attack would turn the opponent into a piece of furniture, leaving them open for attacks: each opponent having a different transformation. His Musical Finale "Be Our Guest" would have every attack with one of his servants, also heal Beast in addition to hurting the opponent.
Gaston (Beauty and the Beast): Nooo oooone's slick as Gaston! Quick as Gaston! No one's neck is as incredibly thick as Gaston! He's especially good at combo breaking! Boy what a guy that Gaston! Gaston has his inconic blunderbass and his fists, along with a bow and quiver and a hunting knife to deal with an opponent, almost as if they were an animal he's hunting. His Special Attack would have an angry mob charge at the opponent and beat them up. His Musical Finale "Gaston" gives him a strength boost, everytime he pulls off a combo successfully.
Aladdin (Aladdin): Everyone's favorite street rat and theif, he's not alone on the field of battle as Abu and Genie are here to help him. Abu can cling to the opponent and hit them repeatedly, Magic Carpet can be used for aerial attacks, Aladdin has a sword that he 'borrowed' from a guard and Genie can shape-shift in a variety of ways to best the opponent. Aladdin's Special Attack would have Genie distract the opponent, as Aladdin steals something off them and uses it to beat them. Aladdin's Music Finale "Friend Like Me" would have Genie grant a wish, each time Aladdin gets a combo, such as a stat boosts and healing.
Jasmine (Aladdin): The sultan's own daughter that would rather be anything than a prize to be given away. She has learned self defense skills, her father's guards and her pet tiger Rajah in her moveset. Her Special Attack would have the guards arrest the opponent and toss them into prison, as they struggle to escape and take damage. Her Musical Finale "A Whole New World" has one the Seven Wonders of the world occasionally pop up in the background to hurt the opponent, as the fight goes on.
Jafar (Aladdin): The Sultan's Royal vizer of Agrabah and one whom believes he should rule Agrabah. Jafar has his magic staff to hypnotize and cast spells onto his foe. Occasionally tapping into the phenenomal, Cosmic power of his Genie form to do some real damage. And Iago is here as well... mostly to complain. His Special Attack would have him become an all powerful Genie and Iago wishing for ways to 'hurt' (not kill) the opponent. His Musical Finale "You're Only Second Rate" would boost all of his stats and attacks, except he can't KO the opponent until the Musical Finale is done.
Simba (The Lion King): King of the Pride Rock and son of Mufasa, the Lion King himself is more than prepared with his claws and iconic roar. His roar can even control the weather to strike lightning and cause windstorms. His Special Attack would have him call on the spirit of his father, Mufasa, as the two of them roar at the opponent. His Musical Finale "Circle Of Life" will have him remember, how we are all connected and draw on the life-force of nature, slowly healing him and giving his roars more range.
Scar (The Lion King): Mufasa's little brother and King after his timely demise, Scar has his claws and his hyenas to make short work of his foe as if their nothing more than a light snack. His Special Attack would toss the opponent of a cliff, into a Wildebeest stampede just like in the movie. As a bonus, he would say 'long live the king's son' if Simba is the opponent. His Musical Finale "Be Prepared" has him do damage without needing to attack the opponent and just walking into the opponent.
Pocahontas (Pocahontas): Daughter of Chief Powhatan, this Disney Princess has the skills necessary in order to survive and win. With his magic fish hook, he can shapeshift into a number of animals, his most common being a hawk. His Special Attack being lassoing the sun into the opponent. His Musical Finale "You're Welcome" makes all damage to Maui, take longer to leave an impact.
And that's that. A LOT longer than I thought it would be. Now your probably thinking, what about all the other Disney media? It's an idea for the first game, so other characters (Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Scrooge McDuck, Goliath, Kim Possible, etc.) would appear in a potential sequel.
Or DLC, since every game these days has it.
Thanks so much for reading all this and taking the time to do! I would love to hear some thoughts and feedback! I had a blast making all this and would like to see if you're interested in hearing more video game ideas.

Dissecting Red Spider Arc-The arc that non shipper find it disturbingly (For those who mind) Shippy
I’ve been watching gintama for the past couple of weeks. And since lately I encounter sleeping problem, lets turn this energy to talk about one of my favorite arc. The controversial arc that invite polarized opinion among Gintama fans.
For  Tsukuyo fans, Red spider is a certain favorite together with Yoshiwara in flame and Courtesan of the nation.  This arc fleshed her background and deepen her bond with yorozuya, especially Gintoki
For casual fans, this arc is the first time they see a glimpse of gintoki past, The first time  gintoki in a berserk mode, the first time he act by his own volition. And somehow he appeared like a true shonen hero saving the heroine.
By then tsukuyo was far from heroine status. She just recently introduced a couple episodes back. Yoshiwara in flame focused more on Hinowa and seita story. But Tsukuyo already  rose in ranking because her unique character design (in sacchan word, she has a lot of ‘hooks’) aside being badass in general.
For naysayers, Red spider arc is that arc that destroy Tsukuyo character. Reduced her into damsel in distress, mere love interest and what not. Of course its people’s right to interpret a work however they see fit. People enjoying entertainment in a different way afterall. Maybe they are a strict feminist type who wanted a true xena like character?  disappointed when a strong female charachter ended up saved by the male hero? (Tho I wonder why they don’t care with preceeding events where Tsukuyo saved gintoki a couple of time)
The other would say this arc is such a big jump from previous arcs. A sudden transition they would say. And heck they’re right. Red spider arc  Is different compared to other serious arc before it.  Its lustrously dark, whispery,  not much emphasis on family nor comedy, not much explosion nor machismo.
And more importantly, its uncharacteristically Intimate.
What do you expect? It took placein Yoshiwara-The Red light District- afterall.
The curtain raised with Jiraiya, the ex teacher of Tsukuyo, the main villain of this arc, On his post coital glow pondering about his object of creation. After enjoying the service of yoshiwara, He looked at the moon and probably feeling another rush of excitement reminiscing his dear beautiful student and the plan he’d set for her.
Tumblr media
Not long after, Tsukuyo feel someone dangerous infiltrating her city. She and her Hyakka squad has been working hard to push down the crime that on the rise after the city lost its night king. Nearing their limit, she turned to Yorozuya, wondering if they can help with the drug problem.
Somehow, Tsukuyo and Gintoki teamed up just the two of them investigating the shady group with spider tattoo trademark. The result was assortment of classic romantic comedy skit : To-Love-Ru type of ‘accident’ and pretend couple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok at this point its just natural that people start to see the two as potential couple. When they bicker they’d scream their heart silly, forgetting  whatever  adult persona they had in mind. Yet when the time come, they play along really well with the others bullshit act. They are on the same frequency already.
Back to the story, Later, they found out the drug lord is Jiraiya who apparently the long dead master (teacher who take care of  protegee under their wing) of Tsukuyo. With his unique ability he nearly killed Gintoki and captured Tsukuyo.
Some Naysayers disappointed at this point because Tsukuyo who supposedly a good fighter became useless in front of jiraiya. Ok let me use this opportunity to explain the technicality of how that’s possible.
She was shocked.
It was a surprise attack
Jiraiya, knew his student fighting ability the best and knew how to immobilize her.
Even Gintoki Almost killed because of his weird technique
She used the last of her strength to saved gintoki from jiraiya’s final blow.
“Huh? But gintoki didn’t turned into a useless mess when he met his long dead master alive?”
Lol what are you smoking? The old master  would split gintoki’s head from his body if not because Kagura’s help.  Also Utsuro/Shouyo goal was to crushed the rebels and nothing to do with Gintoki. While Jiraiya’s goal was to capture Tsukuyo. Understand the difference?
Ok now that its out of my system lets continue.
Later Gintoki learned about the nature of Jiraiya and what this student-master relationship actually are from Zenzou. She-who believed every word of him and followed his foot step- was his creation and his prey at the same time. This method is sickening for Gintoki who loved his master to death.
Tumblr media
For Gintoki a master should be more or less like shoyo. Strong, kind, wise and selfless. The kind of sage who gave his life for his student. Its infuriating to learn that a good women like tsukuyo has a psychotic monster as a master.
“see..Its not because of Tsukuyo that gintoki willingly revert to his shiroyasa self. Its because the master-student thingie that made him mad af”
Was the stuff I read from naysayers.  And for this one, I kinda agree. The main thing that infuriate gintoki about Jiraiya was that he used  master student relationship for some psychotic goal. As we know later, whenever topic about his own master brought on, Gintoki turned into a different beast.
Even I can see this arc’s intent beside telling tsukuyo’s past and cementing her as one of the recurrent character was also to foreshadow  Shoyo related arcs in the future.
However among all of that baggage brought by this arc, theres this one dialogue that caught my attention.
G : "give up already, theres nothing in your web. This entire time there was only a pathetic little spider spinning thread into sky while gazing at distant moon"
J : "What are you babbling about?I already knew that long ago"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ones who ascociate Tsukuyo with the moon are the one who cherish her like hinowa and the hyakka squad  or the bastard who obsessed at her like Jiraiya. It’s a secret nickname people gave to her beside Shinigami Tayuu / courtesan of death. Wt
At that  moment, Gintoki  speak about what Tsukuyo is to Jiraiya existence : A moon to a little insignificant spider. This confirm that Gintoki understand Tsukuyo’s epithet-wich means at that point of story he is familiar toward  Tsukuyo more than the viewers aware of.
To add, This is probably just me but the way he said that stuff about Jiraiya, whispering  while gazing at the sky, as if its applied to him aswell.
Well, I just think that because throughout the fight he keep rambling about being on the same level as Jiraiya.
G: Do you know how to survive the spider nest? By eating the spider.
G : She is stronger than you ever be. A coward like me is enough for a coward like you
To Fight Jiraiya, Gintoki  drew parrarel between himself and Jiraiya. And its not impossible that parrarel extended until that moment.
I  came to the conclusion At that moment Gintoki  already  admire Tsukuyo. Wether  her virtue, her  face, her quirk  or her phisycal attractiveness, it could be anything. The fact is Tsukuyo basically embodies everything gintoki like in a women.
However because of his mindset and his self sabotaging lifestyle, he understood Jiraiya’s point of view of admiring an existence that is too good for them.
The episode ended with Tsukuyo learning his master’s past  and accepting his flaw after killing him. The moment when Gintoki implied that he would never be a good student to their master as tsukuyo is pretty touching too.
The last episode of this arc is a short one with majorly comedic skits. Another To Love Ru accident. And  a classic wingman setup to force a couple to be alone together.
Lol too much couply stuff happening in this arc.
Tumblr media
Later after the crazy terminator drunken stupor, Tsukuyo asked gintoki if she didn’t has this scar, would her life be any different?
At this point I realize the pain endured by her, even though she said she was fine, physically and mentally, she actually struggling with the realization that all her past was something different than she perceived to be, that rather than genuine student master relationship, its an elaborate plan by her master to kill himself.
Its like realizing that we are adopted after all this time living in a loving family. From the surface it might not changed anything because its all in the past, But it changed everything within. It changed the foundation  of what we stood upon all these time.
Tumblr media
Gintoki then assured her that her life is one that she choose, No one make her choose that. wether it’s  driven by a psychotic manipulation or a trust in a teacher who wanted make her strong. The life is still hers to behold and cherish
Gintoki further assured that her face Is not ugly, Its pretty face carrying clean soul. Or something to that effect (since translation vary)
Tumblr media
As you see “Soul” is the overarching concept on Gintama. Its like “Adventure” on One piece and “Hard Work” On Naruto. It’s the Idea that the shounen protagonist holds dear.
Shoyo first teaching to Gintoki was  how to protect his soul. In the war Gintoki choose to kill Shoyo to save his master’s soul. Means he choose Shoyo over his friends and himself. In effect, one of the friend’s soul was corrupted. While Gintoki turned himself into a vessel  whose purpose was merely to protect people he deemed fit and procasinating on his own growth.
Gintoki speak about Tsukuyo’s soul in her face is another testament of how deep their trust and bond has formed.
Even though Gintoki has innate ability to peek into the human character, its not his fashion to directly address it. He usually find a roundabout way to make the others understand that they are being understood. But with Tsukuyo, everything he do about her  is direct.
“Don’t be a stranger, Lean on me, laugh with me and cry with me. I’d be there, cry and laugh with you ” Said Gintoki to tsukuyo.
Tumblr media
The Gintoki who often avoid emotional baggage from a stranger.
In conclusion, Red Spider Arc is such an awesome arc. The vibe is cool, the soundtrack is awesome and its has an intense emotionally charged action.
It is also the breeding ground for gintsu shipper, wich probably gonna make some part of fandom upset. But it is what it is and we can just enjoy or choose not to.

😨🍩🌌🪤🎀 + Wren & Emika?!
Thank you, love!!! Emika, too!!! I’ve missed her, to be honest! My awesome, bat goth child.
😨 FEARFUL - when scared, do they go into "flight" or "fight"?
Wren: she definitely goes into fight mode. This girl is a swinger, throw a punch and think later. Very few things will put her in “flight” mode, and most of that is because Wren is just...used to surviving. She’s used to having to fight, literally and metaphorically. She’s more emotional than logical, so if she feels threatened, she’s quick to act on it if she has to. She’s also the type of person that yells “fuck!” and swings when she gets scared, so taking her to haunted houses is either really fun or a really bad idea. (And yes, she got that from me, not gonna lie).
Emika: she’s a mixture of the two, if I’m being honest. Emika...seems like a gentle person, and for the most part, she is. And most assume she’s not much of a fighter with how flighty she can be (pun is definitely intended). But do not ever mistake her, she is absolutely savage when she needs to be. She is feral when she’s angered. Its very much the “lady on the outside, beast on the inside” kind of thing. Emika is more logical, she’ll take flight when she feels its best, observing from a distance and biding her time. When Emika does fight instead of flight, its usually over quickly, because she goes straight for the jugular.
🍩 DONUT - favorite sweet treat?
Wren: Cheesecake. Straight up just...cheesecake. Wren is obsessed with it. If you ever wrong her, bring her some and she’ll forgive you instantly. Its a tactic even John uses because having Wren mad at you is not...ideal. But yeah, she doesn’t have a favorite kind, she likes them all, but I’d have to say that strawberry cheesecake or Cinnabon cinnamon swirl are her top two.
Emika: She doesn’t truly partake in sweets that often, but when she does, its when she’s having tea with Donna and her dolls. When that happens, Emika takes it upon herself to bake some treats for them, recipes from her childhood that her mother used to make. Laskonky, sisky, and makovinik are usually her go-to recipes, and Donna adores them. It also reminds Emika of before she was taken by Miranda. She’s often sad after though, because it makes her miss what was, but she does try to take comfort in Donna’s company or even Heisenburg.
🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?
Wren: So...I honestly wasn’t going to make an oc for Far Cry 5 when I first played it. Like, it was becoming a favorite game, for sure, but I didn’t really have an idea for an oc. Not until Faith’s boss fight, who I think I took down first??? It was her or John, and I can’t remember. But it was actually the Nemesis line Faith has that got me. I have an undying love for mythology, especially Greek and Norse, and it got the gears turning. I wanted Wren to be someone that was good in the beginning, had the reader on her side throughout the story, only to have her become this harsh judge at the end, and a bad guy. A villain in the making. Everything with the symbolism for her literally fell in place (bird in the cage tattoo only for them to be hanging in the church, her scales of justice tattoo and her being shipped with John), like...Wren pretty much created herself and she fit so perfectly. A daughter of a man that wanted a son, sketchy past, plenty of sins to confess, and John eats them up while luring her close. She’s one of my favorite ocs when it comes to symbolism. Her Nemesis arc is *chef’s kiss* to me.
Emika: She’s another case of “I like this but not oc level”, but then ended up becoming a thing. Heisenburg had me from the beginning, and then Donna sealed it. I was going to make her another daughter of Lady D, but I got inspired by the bat monsters (I really love bats, they’re like puppies with wings) and then Van Helsing kind of came into play as I worked on her. So, essentially, I ran with the vintage/goth aesthetic that I love so damn much (I am a sucker for vampires and such, I will not take criticisms at this time). This whole game made it so easy to work with, to be honest, and Donna pretty much sealed the goth fate for Emika. I had this image in my head of black dresses, lace choker necklaces, and pale skin with bright eyes. A messenger for Miranda, someone she holds close to the chest, almost like a favorite pet than anything. Honestly, she’s one of the ocs I have that came together very quickly.
🪤 MOUSE TRAP - what will always lure them into certain danger? a loved one in danger? a promise of something they are always searching for?
Wren: her friends, found family, and those that are closest to her. Wren has her selfish moments, but she will always put those she loves (and those that love her) before all else. Wren will jump in without a thought because she’s driven by that need to make sure they’re safe and sound. Its almost a fault, to be honest, because Wren’s loyalty is with where her heart lies, not necessarily with what’s wrong or right, or at least, she bases it on what she believes is right or wrong, which again, is ruled by her emotions rather than logic. If its something she’s always wanted, she’ll risk her life for it, or if its a promise of that thing, She’s the type to have her eye on the prize and be like “whatever we have to do, we’ll do it”, not even thinking about the how, her eyes are on the endgame.
Emika: She would risk herself to save someone she loved, absolutely. But she’s also the type to do it for something promised, something she deeply wants. Emika is careful however, because she’s ruled by logic, she’s not going to just charge into something, risk her life, all for something that’s promised or that she wants. No matter how badly she wants something, she can’t exactly enjoy it if she’s dead. Does she value sentiment? Absolutely. But she’s not going to throw herself into danger for it, not without a good pay out and a good chance of her coming out of it alive. Emika is careful. Too careful, considering that Donna and Heisenburg die and she doesn’t make it in time to save either of them. She fights him twice, and barely gets away both times, clinging to her life. She chooses to stay out of the fight with Lady D, though, sending the bat monsters instead of protecting the vampire lady she works closely with. Now...the fight with Miranda...that all depends on how I want her story to end, if I’m being honest. If she dies, she will throw herself into danger with the sole purpose of not coming out alive. Whether she’s captured and studied, or actually dies is up in the air, but the purpose is to finally be freed of the hell Miranda put her in--she wants to be reunited with her dead loved ones.
🎀 RIBBON - how would they fit into other worlds / aus? what aus would you like to try out? what fictional world would they fit / not fit into?
Wren: This is probably my favorite question for her. Wren fits into so many things, but I have her specifically in three. I have a Burlesque au for her that I’ve written a oneshot for, but it was meant to be a chapter thing. Now, I do have a mafia au for her as well, and that’s honestly one of my favorites. A thief/assassin that gets mixed up with the wrong people. Another world I have her in, or another fandom I have her in, is True Blood, and I have to say, this is my ultimate favorite. Wren fits so well in it and honestly, its near and dear to my heart. She’s Sofie’s progeny, having been changed in France somewhere around the beginning of the Victorian era. Wren was also a dancer then, but of course, things were a lot different then and it wasn’t exactly great. Its something she’s used to lure men though, and that was something Sofie and her did to feed for years. But in present day, she runs a burlesque club (very classy and elegant, mind you) in New Orleans. She’s tasked to kind of keep an eye on Sookie and Eric Northman, who she is shipped with (a very begrudging affection that grows). She’s great friends with Pam, and Jane is even in it. I was almost tempted to make Jane a past Viking, since I joke about her being that in FC5, but she’s just another progeny of Sofie’s and is a bit younger than Wren. I’m not sure if there’s too many other things I would love to put her in, maybe Game of Thrones (if I ever finish it) or something. Wren is pretty good where she’s at. I almost put her in Peaky Blinders, but I just ended up coming up with Dahlia instead.
Emika: I honestly haven’t thought of an au for her. Maybe like...something where, you know, Heisenburg and Donna don’t die, but outside of that, I haven’t given it much thought. I don’t even know how her story ends. But I think throwing her into something like...Interview With A Vampire might do her some good, or something vampire related. Just because she has that aesthetic going for her and it works so damn well for her. I couldn’t really see her as something else. I considered throwing her in True Blood with Wren and Jane, but that’s up for debate. Skyrim could be an option, but I’ve been seeing some vampire games trending on here that I’ve been wanting to play and check out, so who knows? Maybe I can find a good world that’s fitting for her and I’ll go down a rabbit hole.

I’m mostly into dming these days, but let me tell you about some of my favorite d&d characters that I played in various oneshots and such over the past couple of years
Jerika - a human rogue/redemption paladin, the one I’ve played the most so far. She used to be a criminal, but then got saved from being hung for her crimes by a beautiful lady paladin she is now determined to find. She’s a certified -2 int dumbass with a bad case of impostor syndrome about the whole “being a paladin” thing, as she doesn’t think she is good and noble enough to be considered one; but she still tries her best to help people and do good, as well as convince others to change their ways.
Vikenty - a neutral evil human warlock based on my Warden from dragon age. He used to be a wizard’s apprentice but got seduced by a beautiful female fiend who asked him very nicely to kill his teacher; naturally, he did just that. He tells everyone he’s a wizard, and sometimes shares a sob story about demons killing his teacher. He is a bit cowardly and not obviously evil at all, but he would do anything for his patron. Got killed in one of our oneshots and presumably turned into a vampire spawn.
Francesca von Steiner - a gnome knowledge cleric of Oghma, my first proper character from a campaign that didn’t go well. A total nerd and a conspiracy theorist who writes books and articles about various cults.
Iphigenia - an albino firbolg moon druid with a very chill attitude about life, death and basically everything. Knows that eventually her body will get eaten by worms and is totally okay with that. Tries to project an air of wisdom and enlightenment, but actually is a huge troll who keeps doing random things just to piss others off or to get a funny reaction out of them. Doesn’t like walking and will use magic and/or wild shapes whenever she can to avoid that. Has a very complicated history with hags and accidentally ate a hag eye once.
Vesper - a super edgy human gloomstalker ranger who once lost all of her former adventuring party, including her fiancee, in the Underdark. After that she dedicated her life to exploring the Underdark, rescuing people who get dragged there and fighting the underground monsters and horrors. Whether her fiancee is still alive is ambiguous, but even though there doesn’t seem to be much hope, Vesper is not going to give up on her until she knows for sure.
Princess Inara - a triton warrior princess (battlemaster fighter) who considers herself to be a benevolent ambassador of the seas graciously lending her aid to the poor denizens of the surface. Knows very little about the surface world and has a bit of a messiah complex. Had some hilarious interactions with the drow arguing about whose race is superior and lives deeper under the surface.
Nemeris Alvare - an elven grave cleric who grew up among humans; at his tender age of 180, he lost way too many human friends, became extremely depressed and found solace in the service of Jergal, collecting records about those who passed away. Although it’s not really in line with Jergal’s dogma, he encourages people to share their memories about their lost loved ones and records them as well, so that they won’t be forgotten. Keeps a small but well-maintained collection of skulls.
Binky - halfling path of the beast barbarian who literally fights with teeth and nails. She is a very timid and cautious person who tries her best to avoid trouble, but when things get bad she goes into a full rage panic mode and will tear anyone who threatens her or her friends apart. She becomes fiercely protective of anyone who shows her even a bit of kindness, sometimes to an unhealthy degree.

You have an opinion on Giovanna as a fighter and character in Guilty Gear Strive? I saw that you seem to hate her.
Hate is a strong word.
I just don’t particularly care for her gameplay and probably character lore wise. I have no issue with newcomers in fighting games as long as they have an interesting design and gimmick to their fighting style.
Nagoriyuki’s design was enough to instantly draw me into him as a character and yearning to learn his backstory. Heck, we haven’t seen the story mode yet but he is already now my most favorite male character of the franchise. He’s just...so cool. <3
Giovanna’s case, like I said several times, the wolf, Rei looks very awesome, but Giovanna by herself to me looks very bland. I know that her design is supposed to capture her professional attitude, but I feel like it is still lacking a lot of interesting aesthetics that would make a Guilty Gear character stand out compared to others or being unique and original.
Some people think Answer for example is boring, but honestly I was more hyped for him than Baiken years ago when they were announced. Answer is a ninja....in a business suit! Also, the man is talking on the phone throughout the whole match and multitasking. That makes him a very interesting and entertaining character. Giovanna isn’t really impressing me in anything. She’s too....’normalized’.
Another thing I want to point out, we pretty much already have Forbidden Beast (lol Stand) users in the game. I know Zato and her play differently but somehow Rei, as cool as her (yes it is a girl) design is, doesn’t really stand out as much as any other one. All of these things make her pretty forgettable for me as a GG fan.
She’s okay, but I just can’t really get into her.
Maybe I’m just too bias on Nagoriyuki but I wish they did better on Giovanna’s design as a whole.
You might disagree all you want, but that’s just my opinion. I take character design seriously and I can be a tad nitpicky.

Chapter Three: Thieves, Black Spots, Ice Cream, and Lost Souls.
Neopolitan held out her hand palm facing upwards. Levitating a mere three inches above her hand. Was the harden spitting image of an item Cinder Fall had tasked her with acquiring. An item Cinder herself had stated as being the all important cornerstone piece nessary for allowing themselves back in the good graces of her superior. An item of immense value. Which Cinder had only referred to by name once. She had called it The Relic of Knowledge.
For Neopolitan getting her hands on the Relic hadn't been easy. In fact she had gone to some extreme lengths. Just to lay her well manicured fingers around the genuine article. If she were to list, (out of order mind you) the redundant number of obstacles placed in her path to success. She would begin her retelling of events. By drawing attention to the fact that she had to topple. Three of the best and brightest, up incoming fighters, that the Kingdoms of Vale and Atlas had to offer. Along with outwitting one individual. Which Roman would have labeled a complete unknown. Dubbing him with a personal nickname such as Wild Card. Wildcard's skills were to put it politely, not as polished as Neo had been expecting. However, to Wildcard's credit there had to be something special about the young lad. Seeing as how the Military Atlas Leader, General James Ironwood, would have personally been required to recognize the protector of an item holding such significance value, that people were willing to murder each other. Just to get their hands own it. Yes, from Neo's point of view something was off about the whole situation. Why had Ironwood allowed a novice anywhere near such an important item of interest. True the lanky farm raised youth had scored a hit on one of her illusions. Yet that alone didn't qualify him to be the one assigned to carry and protect an item of important significance, from all comers. When Neo had knocked and then entered Wildcard's personal quarters. She had expected at least to be assaulted by two plain clothes, fully trained Huntsman's. Providing personalized security detail for the item and its holder. Instead, what she got was a handful of annoying soldiers and a few mechanized assault droids. Maybe, Ironwood had reasoned that the item of intrest. Would be safe enough with the minimal levels of security inside the building. Because of the heighten levels of security Located on the buildings outer perimeter. Neo had no way of confronting Ironwood and confriming her suspicions. At least the guards stationed outside had been the capable sort. What gave Neo the advantage in sneaking past them. Was simply the fact she had been anticipating their presence. If a person knew anything about military law and Neo had become an expert. Then that person would understand how the Military was going to act. In accordance with Atlas Military doctrine. The outside of any building in which an item of specialized intrest and its assigned Guardians are to be housed. Will be discreetly guarded and observed by members of the Atlas Military. Along with at least two teams of veteran combatants rating no less than the rank of marksmen. These teams will be assigned from the specialized police unit know only as Swat.
In securing her assignment Neopolitan had fascinated herself. For just one individual hurtling over all those obstacles would have normally bordered on the impossible. What made her the exception to all things that are believed to be impossible. Besides her radiant features, was her timing. The facts didn't lie. At the same time she had needed access to the building the Relic had been housed in. The Sister City to Atlas. Know as Mantel, had been hit by an invasion of ruthless man eating monsters know as The Grim. Otherwise gaining entrance to the building without being questioned or observed in some manner. Would have been a task next to impossible. Thankfully with the Grim holding everyone's attention. All she had to do was simultaneously watch both entrances to the building. Waiting patiently until her target approached. Her target in this case being a certified Atlas special operative and veteran Huntsman Phillips Hauntance. Neo spotted Phillips walking towards the building. And knew instantly what was about to happen. Phillis had been sent to move the item and its Guardian from one location to another. It was a standard act of Kingdom etitic, to perform such a move in a crisis. All Neo had to do then was cut Phillips off at the pass. Use her abilities to Lure Phillips into a fight away from prying eyes, Attack, defeat, and dispose of Phillips before anyone could catch on that something had gone awry with Phillips's mission. Assume the Huntsman's identity. Flash Hauntance's confenscated security badge and gain entrance to the building. Later on if she ever retold this story she'd say it was as simple as pie.
Cinder Fall stood at the meeting spot waiting for her newest hired hand Neopolitan. The four foot nothing scrapper had become the newest addition to her ever growing arsenal of misfits and outcasts. Neopolitan had previously been associated with the late Crime Boss of Vale, Roman Torchwick. Irate with herself Cinder drove the toe of her high heeled combat boots into the concrete beneath her feet. She hated waiting. Waiting gave a body too much time to be alone with their thoughts. Probably the reason most police department detectives used it as an effective tactic. A detective would leave a suspect isolated in an interrogation room for hours on end before breaking up the silence and monotony with a barrage of rapid fire questions. Unfortunately for Cinder right now her consciousness was playing the role of the detective. Asking herself questions she prefer not to answer. Questions such as. How had Ruby Rose known excatly where to be? Making it possible to insert herself driectly into Our plans. Sure one could argue Ruby had seen the display of powers from somewhere inside the city and come running. Yet, Cinder couldn't believe that the girl had seen the fight, made her way across the city to the building Cinder was fighting in, gained access to said building. Made her way to the top floor and all within the matter of twelve minutes or so. Even for one with her kind of speed it just It couldn't be possible and Rose had accomplished this very feet with a Schnee in tow. How?
Cinder's one and only real weakness the girl with the Silver eyes. Who was somehow the only person she had been forbidden to harm by Salem. Cinders leader. "How had she failed again? It made no sense. How!?"
How had she let that little Demon spawn cost her everything. First the child had taken her eye. Then Her Aunt Raven had snatched away her opportunity at obtaining the Spring Maidens powers. And finally like pouring salt into a open wound. The Little Red Hooded Demon Child had robbed her of a glorious victory. Killing General Ironwoods favorite special operative, dismantling the world's first synthetic child again, and claiming the Winter Madiens powers all for herself. It was enough to drive her into doing something reckless. Hearing the noise of someone's footsteps approaching Cinder turned around. Neopolitan was standing there like a magician taking a slight bow after a performance. The multi toned girl held one hand extended away from her with the palm facing upwards and there hovering inches above her hand was the very item Cinder has sent her after. The relic of Knowledge.
"Perhaps things are starting to look up." She thought. "In any case that will be prize enough to get me integrated back into Salem's good graces." Acting swiftly to maintain the illusion of still being in control. Cinder turned and began walking towards Neopolitan in one swift motion she blew by Neo snatching the hovering Relic. Not stoping to explain herself, Cinder headed in the direction of their stolen airship. That the two women had stashed on the outskirts of town. When they arrived in Mantle.
Angry with Cinder for the lack of praise for her success. And irrated with Cinder for the ruff handling of such a delicate item. Yet somehow interested enough to desire to see what happens next. Neopolitan silently fell into step behind her new employer.
Several hours later, felling white knuckled and several centuries older. Neopolitan with Cinder Fall. Landed atop a massive flying Grim beast. Neo couldn't believe what she was bearingwitness to. An enormous estate. No a Castle just sitting atop the ginormous creature. Cinder however was acting as if flying direct into a hail storm of Man eating monster's, in order to dock with a creature that could in all likelyhood sallow them, the vessel the two women had arrived in and the factory, the ship had been produced in. Was somehow the norm and Neopolitan needed to get with the program. Neo felt overwhelmed she had never in her wildest dreams believe she'd be taking in this much information all at once. It was a little much.
"Come on." Cinder said, as she exited the ship. "And stay close to me. None of these creatures know not to harm you, yet. And we'd hate for there to be any accidents."
Cinder wouldn't have to tell Neo twice. Everywhere Neo's eyes landed there was a hundred modes of instance death tracking her every movement. Cinder was headed for the door as a broad shoulder man easily four times Neo's size stepped around the corner of the building. Blocking their path.
"Hello Cinder." His voice was low toned and soft. Neopolitan took notice as Cinder Fall straightened herself to full height.
"Hazel."
Neo, who had spent more than her fair share of time. With and around the criminals of Vale. Had absorbed through osmosis most of their worst traits and several of their bad habits. Found herself with no other choice except to notice the way in which. The muscles in Cinder Fall's only flesh and blood arm contracted and tightened. As Cinder spoke the walking pile driver's name.
Neo had picked up this perception to read body language from a tall thin sort of man named J. Farneey. Mr. Farneey who regularly rented out one of the top suites inside Junior's Night Club. Had spent several evenings stressing to Neo the importance of picking up on such human behaviors. Farneey had liked the suites provided at Junior's because of how the upstairs room's were sound proof. Which made the perfect place for Farneey to conduct his business. One night while at Junior's Neo hadn't been felling particular well. All the noise seemed to be gettin to her. So Roman had sauntered over to where Mr. Farneey had sat alone drinking and ask J. "If they could get a card game going in his sweet." J. Farneey had only to take one glance in Neopolitan's direction to see that her face and body language were off. Looking back at Roman he accurately gauged. The question Roman had been actually asking. Spinning around on his bar stool. He looked directly at Neo.
"Is that right little lady? He asked. Would you like to get out from under all this noise? Neo "Nodded her head." In response. Wondering how Mr. Farneey had known and like that a sort of friendship had spawned between them. On nights Roman was conducting his own business downstairs at Junior's Club. Neo would be upstairs catching lessons in edict. From Mr. Farneey. When not working J would sit in a dyed red, hidebound leather reclining chair for hours. Watching from behind that big one way mirror in his suite. He's eyes missed nothing. He would make a game of it taking a shot each time the parties down below made a spectacle of themselves. Pointing out all sorts of microscopic details to Neo. That until that moment, Neo had never really payed attention to before. For instance, the way that someone would sit side stool at the bar or how a younger person would hold their glass while working up the courage to approach someone. To ask for a phone number or a dance. Mr. Farneey would go on like that for hours giving Neo an inside view into his world. Explaining ever details of his interpretation of what someone was thinking. And often enough he would be immedately proven right. One time Neo had told Roman about her experience and Roman had encouraged her to spend time with Mr. Farneey saying.
"I'm glad you two are getting along so well. Old Farneey's a master in the field of human behavior. That's why I try to play cards with him every chance I get. Everytime J beats me. Yet, evertime I receive an education. Or become aware of an exploitable weakness in my personality. You should take this opportunity to learn everthing that you can from him. It will benefit you in ways you never dreamed possible. Later on"
Right now that knowledge was benefiting her much more than was possible. She now knew that Cinder, a woman who had a semblance of her own, magic powers and the ability to create weapons from glass. Felt wary and uncomfortable around this big bruiser.
"Tryian beat you back by a couple of hours." He said something about. "Taking the children and going back for Watts."
"Where's Watts?" Cinder asked.
"Currently locked up. Inside Ironwoods Jail." Hazel replied. "He allowed himself to get caught." That way we'd have a man inside of the city. That can use the confusion of the invasion to get close enough to Pietro mainframe to rewire the Pollidena girl's hardrive. Once we've manipulated her cognitive reasoning compasator. The robot should have no problem fighting for our side. After everything we've pulled off. I'm looking forward to watching Ironwood's creatively acquired toy. Turn against everything it's been programmed to protect. Just as the city's begun to place their trust in their leaders." Hazel's voice grew distance. Then added. "For Watts this act of vengeance. Against those who stole from and shunned him, will be the proverbial icing on the cake."
"Hazel." Cinder spoke suddenly, placing one hand on his arm. "Don't ever worry, I'm certain you'll avenge your sister's memory."
"Thank you Cinder, that means a lot."
Outside Cinder was all cool and calm demeanor. Internally she couldn't believe what she just heard a few hours ago. She had felt like a failure. Kicking herself for missing an opportunity to harm the little synthetic. Now she realized that she had actually been done an astronomical favor. Her comrades had figured out a way to control the animatronic child. Cinder smiled as the words came pouring out.
"Then you're going to love what I have to tell you." Reaching into her bag Cinder produced the Relic Neopolitan had acquired. Showing him their success in one hand Cinder announced their failure. The robot's our new winter Maiden. The machine has the powers and I have our first relic. Hazel's eyes lit up upon seeing the relic. "That's incredible." Now all that's left to do is for Tryian's to free Watt's and myself to murder Ironwood. His eyes lit on Neo as if seeing her for the first time.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name." Neo cliped her parasol to her belt and began singing with her hands.
"Her name is Neopolitan." Cinder said explaining for her. "She has a little trouble speaking."
"I'm pleased to meet you." The big man said extending fourth one hand in Neo's direction. Neo uncertain in how she should react. Bodly reached out a hand of her own. Which immediately vanished inside Hazel's grasp. Swallowed whole in the firmest handshake that Neo could ever remember receiving. Was this really the way, a person working for Salem's. Was supposed to react? Shouldn't this man be upset that Cinder had brought another henchman here with no warning.
"There's coffee and refreshments inside." Hazel half heartledy gestered towards the door. Speak with Emerald and she'll see to finding you some lodgings.
Neo "Nodded her head in response and rubbing her stomach. Before Cinder and herself proceeded inside. As the two women entered through the Castle's main hall they could hear the distinctive sound of combat. The very distinctive sound of gunfire. Both women paused and listened. Somewhere inside the estate a battle was taking place. Cinder swore loudly as something Hazel said clicked into place. "Tryian had said something about taking the children and going back for Watts." If Tryian had tried to tell Mercury to do anything. Mercury would have told him. Where he could stick that tail of his and Tryian wasn't the kind of person to take sass well. Cinder had just made it aroud the first hall when she heard Mercury's voice screaming in anger. "I'm just giving you a moment to get your affairs in order. Use that time to make peace with your godess. Then I'm coming back to finish this and you.
Author's note: I hope you have enjoyed reading this free chapter. As much as I have enjoyed writing it.

Transformers OC Asks
This list of questions was submitted by @helliontwins
Thanks for the inquiries about my babies! I hope I was able to answer them well enough!
Hyperwing
Why that name? I understand the wing cus she’s a birb and all.
Hyperwing got her name from the speed at which she flies, as well as her overall personality. She is very outgoing, so I figured “Hyper” was a good connection between her speed and sense of self.
How old is she? From what I’ve seen she’s kind of young seeming but old enough to drink. Would you say she is the equivalent of a 20 year old or…?
She was born/Forged right before the start of the war. This makes her younger than many of the original fighters and a few others, but she got to spend time with Optimus while he was still Orion Pax. However, she spent a long while in stasis, after receiving an injury that nearly destroyed her Spark. Optimus placed her in stasis in an attempt to keep her safe during her recovery, but due to the war her awakening was delayed for a long time. A part of it was Optimus’ hesitation to bring her back online with a war going on, since she is not a combatant. She missed about half of the war, and still has the mental state, capacity, and physical state from before. She is technically old enough to drink, but Ratchet tries to keep her away from it due to the aforementioned time gap. She drinks to mess with him, mainly. Hyperwing was mad at first for missing out on everything, but she cooled down and forgave Optimus eventually. (She has some intense shock after waking up. New people, old friends lost… a whole lot to take in)
How small is she? I see that she kinda itty bitty.
She is smol. She comes up to Bumblebee’s mid-thigh. Hyperwing can sit on Optimus’ Shoulder freely, and while in her alt mode she can perch on the arms and servos of other bots
Is she any good at fighting?
Absolutely not. Mainly due to her size, she is at a serious disadvantage. She usually chooses to defend and fly away. If that is impossible, she attempts to peck at optics or other weak points.
As a courier and with her size does she even really fight?
She never throws the first stone. She is basically forbidden from joining the front lines by Optimus. Does she always listen? Absolutely not and it is giving Ratchet and Optimus helmaches. Hyperwing never wants to leave a bot behind, so if she sees someone in trouble, she will try to cause a distraction for a retreat or to buy time for backup to arrive.
Does she crush on anyone?
Nope! She doesn’t quite understand the whole “romance” thing. Not saying she wouldn’t fall in love eventually, but she was basically raised in a war zone. Not really on her mind.
She seems to love Optimus but is it in the love love way, fatherly, brotherly, or best friend?
He is like her father. Back when he was Orion Pax and she was new to the world, he took her in. Having a beast alt-mode made her an easy target to mistreatment and prejudice, so Hyperwing would have most definitely not lasted long on her own. Since he raised her and taught her to stand tall on her own (as tall as she can with her size), she sees him as a parent. Or the Cybertronian equivalent of a parent.
 Rapidstrike
I think i saw you mention how red just didn’t suit him, care to expand what you meant?
Rapidstrike is shy. His self-esteem is extremely low and he hates being the center of attention. Paint jobs that would make him too flashy might give him a heart attack. Red is a walking “hit me” signal. Is softer demeanor contrasts harshly with the war, so the more he can do to avoid attention the better it will be for him. But, I wanted people to look at him and think he was outgoing, which would also contrast his personality. That is why I gave him the colors he has. Monochrome shades with blue and orange is still sleek and looks open, but then you get to the mask and it is grey and purple. Rapidstrike is a walking conundrum, in essence.
How often do people ask if he and HW are related?
Right so this question and the last question are related to a certain anon as I got the other day. However, I recently deleted that answer because I felt like I came off too harsh and I didn’t want to be rude to that anon. That is the first time anyone has asked if they were related, though Rapidstrike was made very recently so there was a short time window to make a connection. But yeah no they have no relation
Why the mask? (I love it btw!)
I won’t go into too much detail right now, but it has to do with his low self-esteem. He was trained with another mech under a polearms master. The Master was very aloof and rarely gave positive feedback, and was not emotionally available. The mech he trained with, who later becomes a Decepticon, had a huge superiority complex and constantly put Rapidstrike down. His self-image was shattered, so he hides behind the mask since he sees himself as disposable, ugly, and weak.
NVM I just found the answer to three. Instead why the design? How did you come up with it?
I went ahead and gave a bit more info anyway J I looked at existing characters for a basis. I chose a Speedster like build, so I studied Drift and Rodimus. I wanted a smooth flow between his different parts so I looked at Chromia and Prowl. Then, I looked at futuristic or high-end motorcycles for the minor details to tie in with his alt form. His mask has the look it does because of the tear-like markings. Because he is a sad boi and since he hides his face, it reflects his inner feelings.
 Others
Why is Tangle (Deer Bot Boi) Green? Was it to match scenery? A favorite color of his? Or something else?
I wanted to tie in his design with the plants he loves so much. Also in an old D&D campaign our Ranger befriended a green deer from the Faewild, and when I was designing Tangle, it came back to mind.
Do you have any more info on Nightbright? They are an amazing pallet and I’m curious what they transform into and more about them.
Nightbright is unfortunately still in development! He is an astronomer before the war, but transition to being a dispatcher for the Autobot forces during the war.
If anything has been answered before Sorry for asking a second time! I’m just so in love with all of your Oc’s!
I am glad you like them so much! These questions are actually some of the firsts I have ever gotten for my Transformers characters, so this was really fun to do!
Also do you write about them in fics or rp as them?
Yes to the fics. As for the rp… I have been considering starting an ask/rp blog for Hyperwing and Rapidstrike, as they are the most developed. It would have to be a shared side blog for the two, since I work full time and if I gave them separate blogs I would lose track of everything lol.

FEH Divine Code Path Breakdown
So I am a near-launch player and am semi-F2P outside of the FEH Pass and occasional orb packs. I’m a hoarder of premium currency that isn’t orbs and I was starting to wonder what the overall return on investment a full path of Divine Codes would yield to someone who might also be a F2P hoarder. Since many F2P players who have hoarded their Divine Codes will begin hitting the 6,000 Divine Codes mark soon, I figured now was a good a time as any to look at this from a mostly fodder standpoint (no need to tell people who to go for if they’re looking specifically for merges). The final member of each path’s fodder more or less speaks for itself, so what else will you get along the way?
It’s been almost half a year since we learned what the Divine Codes were going to do, and the meta has already shifted in some ways, so I suspect this semi-analysis will be outdated by the time new paths are added.
The last obvious asterisk to all of this is that every player can and should evaluate exactly which path yields them the most usage, whether via merges or fodder. This is colored by my experience, but I’m going for objectivity.
Below is the full write-up, but here are a couple of interesting facts that I found after reviewing all of these:
Every route offers roughly 8 or 9 full skill sets, depending on what you invest in additional fodder. Radiance is the highest, but requires the most additional outside inheritance investment.
Almost every single additional investment to make the most of your choices requires sacrificing a unit available in the Grail pool.
Every route except for Holy War includes at least one inheritable weapon. Heroes is the most at 4 inheritable weapons. The vast majority of them are powercrept or less “meta” choices, but they are super fun aesthetic weapons.
Four of the six paths will net you Swift Sparrow 2.
Only three of the thirty available units have specials that are worth inheriting. I personally view that as IS needing to increase the number of interesting specials we have. I'm tired of mostly every unit showcase having one of the same 5 specials.
It goes without saying, but IS has some very, very strange positions on what skills are considered more premium than others. But, I find that most of the routes are balanced and, true to intent, will draw different players for different reasons.
Let me know what Paths you choose! I’ll probably choose mine in the next week or so.
Awakening/Fates
Summer Cordelia — Fallen M!Robin — Owain — Dancer Xander — Adrift M!Corrin
Summer Cordelia — It’s safe to say that S!Cordelia’s main skills are her Shell Lance+ and Dull Close 3. Neither of these are top tier fodder, but Shell Lance+ provides at least a little bit of utility with its inherit spectrum blow and Dull Close has the distinction of being a decent B Skill for physically-minded fliers. Shell Lance+ also has the aesthetic factor for many, never count that out. Dull Close 3 is only available at 4* on Cormag, so not a bad way to avoid spending grails. If you want her lance, you can also get Sturdy Blow 2 (make sure to pick up Armored Blow 1 from Gunter, Titania, Athena, or Catria). Otherwise you’re getting her lance and Dull Close 2.
Fallen M!Robin — The prize for continuing down this Path is either A) a merge for the OG Armored Dragon or B) Vengeful Fighter 3 and maybe Ward Dragons. If you’re here for the merge, you’ve already likely grabbed it. Otherwise you’re probably here for Vengeful Fighter 3. We don’t have a 4* option for Vengeful Fighter yet, so this is a solid fodder gift. For what it’s worth, the only other character with Ward Dragons is Spring Idunn. I wouldn’t blame you if you were shooting for Ward Dragons, but I’d have to ask how your Dragon Emblem team was holding up a year after the meta moved on.
Owain — The man with the hungering hand will net you Blue Flame (if you’re not considering this, I suppose I’d just be confused) and your choice of one extra ability: Atk/Def Bond, Wrath, or Spur Spd/Def 2. Theoretically, you can get Spur Spd/Def 2 and also level 1 of the other two, but that’s just dealer’s choice. Atk/Def Bond is also on Fjorm, Young Summer Tiki, New Year’s Hrid, Rutger (at 4*), Groom Hinata (at 4*), and, funnily enough, Adrift M!Corrin. Wrath is now on a cavalcade of 5* heroes and is most notably available on Astram. Wrath isn’t the premium fodder it once was, but it’s got its uses. If you’re looking for a more or less “free” Wrath without spending the grails and feathers to get Astram to 5*, then this is a pretty solid choice. Spur Spd/Def 2 is available on Oscar, just pull on Blue for a while and you’ll get it.
Dancer Xander — This is the first place in this Path where the choice for fodder is not an enviable one. Close Counter is the prize here, no doubt about that. So what do you take in addition? Dusk Uchiwa+ is a budget version of Dancer Micaiah’s Dawn Suzu and has at least some utility in AR and other modes. However, that requires choosing a dagger user that wants to be used in that way. The other (and more likely option, from my vantage point) is Quick Riposte 3. We’re 3+ years deep into this game and there’s still not a common unit with 4* QR 3, that value is hard to pass up for F2P. Another small note of commentary — it’s interested that Close Counter is considered less valuable than Distant Counter, even with no character having unconditional Close Counter built into a weapon, I’ve stopped trying to decide why IS makes the decisions it does.
Adrift M!Corrin — Finally, your grand prize for this Path is a character who just got powercrept by his own nightmare/fallen form. Null Follow-Up 3 is the jewel of this path and it makes sense — it’s still the main tried and true method for Infantry units who want to punch through those big, nasty armored units and their fighter skills. You can snag Atk/Def Bond 1 or, if you’re merging onto another infantry dragon, Hone Dragons. The only other character with Hone Dragons is Myrrh, so you’d be forgiven for pausing to consider infantry dragons that could utilize this skill.
All in all, you get Shell Lance+ OR Dull Close 3; Vengeful Fighter 3 with potential for Ward Dragons; Blue Flame, dealer’s choice of Atk/Def Bond 3, Wrath 3, or Spur Spd/Def 2; Close Counter, Dusk Uchiwa+ OR Quick Riposte 3; Null Follow-Up 3 with potential for Hone Dragons. That’s 7 to 9 full skill sets across 5 units, which is an okay haul.
Radiance
 Leanne — Dancer Elincia — Lethe — Bridal Tanith — Valentine’s Greil
Leanne — Leanne might actually have the most interesting fodder of the 400 Divine Code options. But you’re likely here for one of two things: a Leanne merge or Flier Formation 3. If you’re interested in the merge, you’ve already likely grabbed it. Flier Formation 3 is only available at 4* on two grail units that are both popular in their own ways: Spring Loki and Young Minerva. As noted before, fliers don’t have access to a ton of B skills so this is a solid way to get it for “free.” Interestingly enough, Mirror Stance 2 is only available at 4* on Gharnef, so you’re spending grails for this. It’s by no means a top tier skill, but it has its uses on some builds (or, specifically, holding onto it as an easy way to get Mirror Stance 3 from Osian with a little less headache.) Finally, Hone Beasts is only available on Leanne and Lethe, who also makes an appearance on this path. You can grab both Flier Formation 3 and Hone Beasts for some special flying beastie.
Dancer Elincia — They continue to increase the difficulty of the inheritance math with Dancer Elincia. At her release, Dancer Elincia was probably the 3rd most enticing member of her banner, with her dragon-effective dagger being the main draw. Push skills were flawed and only desirable as one of the only options offensive healers got. Now, with the advent of Push 4 skills and the growth in dragon effective weapons, the calculus on Dancer Elincia’s fodder has changed. Her best fodder utility is to help you get Atk/Spd Push 4 onto the unit of your choice. If you do go the dagger route, you’ll get that and Atk/Spd Push 2. Drive Res 2 is available on Soleil, Lyon, and Summer Rhys, so you could at least get Atk/Spd Push 3 and Drive Res 1. If you’re here for her Dancer Skill in Rockslide Dance 2, you’re also getting one level one of the other two skills.
Lethe — The calculus for Lethe, on the other hand, isn’t hard at all. She’s the only character with Spd/Def Solo 3 and (as stated) one of only two characters with Hone Beasts. While it’s not the same as Atk/Spd Solo, boosting Speed by any means necessary is the name of the game for most units. Plenty of Calvary units would thank Manual Lethe for her sacrifice. Funnily enough, Lethe falls into that barrel of heroes where her base kit is mostly asynchronous, especially since she’s the one that wants the Hone Beasts buff. If you have a character in mind that can inherit all four, you’re a lucky Summoner.
Bridal Tanith — Again, they’ve decided to make the Summoner’s decision pretty hard. Getting both Lofty Blossoms+ and Swift Sparrow 2 on your favorite lance unit is nothing to sneeze at. However, you’d be forgiven for taking a few extra seconds to consider the other combinations. While Chill Attack 3 is available on 11 different units (tied with Chill Speed 3 at the time of writing), all of them have Chill Attack 3 5* locked. Gharnef and Conrad, two grail units, are the only characters that are easily obtainable, and you’ll be spending 20k feathers for the pleasure of inheriting that skill — not exactly economical. Sacrificing a 4* Gharnef or Conrad for Chill Attack 2 helps with the math, but you’ll have to make your own decision about that. If you do go that route, you can snag Chill Attack 3, Swift Sparrow 1 & 2, and Harsh Command+ (Harsh Command can be found on Clair, Gunter, and Saizo in the common pool) OR Fortify Fliers. So while this set up requires sacrificing a grail unit and a common, it’s a pretty potent combo. Fortify Flyers is available on Caeda, don’t spend 1,600 hard-earned Divine Codes on Fortify Fliers alone
Valentine’s Greil — You’ve made it to the end of this path! Your prizes are Aether and Fury 4, with some combination of Faithful Axe+ and Armor March thrown in for good measure. Ike’s heroic, if flawed, father has two skills that are excellent for Arena scoring, if that’s your thing. If that arena scoring character happens to be an axe unit, even better! You’ll get Faithful Axe+, Aether, and Fury 4 (make sure to pay homage to our Fury 3 lord, Hinata, beforehand). If these skills are destined for an armored unit, I’d suggest Fury 4 and Armor March 3. Grab a wayward infantry Chrom, stuff him full of 20,000 feathers, and Aether is yours as well. Obviously there are plenty of units that would love an Aether/Fury 4 combo and those alone are a pretty solid gift from Greil, don’t fret too much about the decision (Faithful Axe+ isn’t that great anyway).
This Path nets you the following: Flier Formation 3 or Mirror Stance 2 and potentially Hone Beasts; Atk/Spd Push 3 and Drive Res 1 OR Cloud Maiougi+ and Atk/Spd Push 2 or Drive Res 2; Spd/Def Solo 3 with potential for Hone Beasts; Lofty Blossoms 2 and Swift Sparrow 2 OR Chill Attack 3 and Swift Sparrow 1 or 2 (depending on other fodder) OR Chill Attack 3, Swift Sparrow 2, and Harsh Command+, for those willing to spend; Aether and Fury 4 with potential for either Faithful Axe+ OR Armor March. All told, this Path nets you 9 - 12 full skill sets over 5 units (with maximum inheritance investment). That’s pretty solid for people willing to make the math work.
Blades / Sacred Stones
Valentine’s Lilina — Amelia — Flying Nino — Winter Ephraim — Valentine’s Hector
Valentine’s Lilina — Hector’s pride and joy’s first Alt didn’t age well. She personally pity broke me 4 times while attempting to entice her father to come home, which he never did. I’d say she was Atk Tactic 3 fodder, but Legault really has that covered. HP/Atk 2 has some utility on HP-support builds, but is available at 4* on both Valbar and Iago. Green Gift+ has Dull Ranged built in, which provides some interesting builds, but that’s all there really is to say about it. After all that…yeah, she’s Atk Tactic 3 fodder.
Amelia — While hovering on Amelia shows you her PRF weapon in Grado Poleaxe, Amelia is also packing Slaying Axe+. She’s the only character who comes with Slaying Axe+ naturally, otherwise you’re evolving it from Beruka, Hawkeye, and Sheena. This is the default “best axe” for Axe Heroes who don’t have a PRF, so I’d actually give it a bit more weight than the original draw of Amelia — Armor March. If the intended recipient is an Armored Axe, you’ll need to choose between the two unless you want to spend 20k feathers to inherit Killer Axe+ and send it on over.
Flying Nino — She can’t read, but she sure can fly! Your likely goal here is a “free” Swift Sparrow 2, and you’re not wrong. However, Aerobatics is great for flying units and, something I’ll mention for a 3rd time on this write-up, Fliers are hurting for B-skill options. Speed Smoke is a great skill, but is available on the otherwise lackluster Chad as well as Fallen Takumi (although you’ll spend 20k feathers for it from him). You’ll need to make a not-so-fun choice between those, but Swift Sparrow fodder is becoming more available every few months, so I personally feel Aerobatics is worth more.
Winter Ephraim — I will break F2P form slightly with W!Ephraim. At the time of writing, the man who can’t be bothered to put down Siegmund in any of his alts is featured as a Hall of Forms unit. Now would be a pretty decent time (if you like him) to grab a merge and enjoy using him with some primo fodder. If not, he’s got plenty of options for the more casual Summoner. Atk/Def Solo 3 is the main draw. Only available on 4 total units, this skill is regularly coveted by those who want a little more bulk. However, Bold Fighter 3 might be more your speed. I will caution, however. Bold Fighter 3 is available on 12 unique units and that list grows every time IS wants to add an Armored Unit but can’t think of what to put in their B slot. You’ll likely find other options for it (from personal experience, Kjelle might as well change her name to be Bold Fighter Fodder). Close Guard 3 is a Sacred Seal and also available at 4* on the Death Knight. Grab it if you really want, but know you have better options.
Valentine’s Hector — He’s DC fodder. If you know you need DC fodder (which is more or less evergreen in this game), this has been your prize from the start. Pamper your favorite new unit that wants to smack others from near or far.
Our friends from the Blazing Blade and Sacred Stones Path gets you Attack Tactic 3 OR HP/Atk 2 and Green Gift+; Slaying Axe+ and Armor March 2 OR Armor March 3; Aerobatics 3 and Swift Sparrow 2 (with investment) OR Aerobatics 3 and Speed Smoke 1 OR Swift Sparrow 2 and Aerobatics 2 etc; Atk/Def Solo 3 and Close Guard 3 (with investment) OR Bold Fighter 3 and Close Guard 3; Distant Counter. This totals to roughly 7 or 8 full skill sets across 5 units, which is the lowest return on investment so far. However, you now have Distant Counter fodder, so was it worth it?
Holy War
Leif — Deirdre — Sigurd — Lewyn — Dancer Ishtar
Leif — If you’re here for his merge, take it and go and don’t look back. If you’re looking to use him for fodder well, Drive Atk 2 is your main bet. However, with proper investment from common units, you can get Steady Blow 2 and Drive Atk 2 in one fell swoop. Easy, simple, no fuss.
Deirdre — So, Gamepress has Deirdre listed as Tier 2 on their Heroes Tier list. They make some questionable recommendations, but this one is a real head scratcher. Her Res holds up well and she has decent flexibility with her Dragon effective weapons but, I just don’t see it. Regardless, you’re here for one of two things: Quick Riposte or Speed Ploy. As mentioned four Paths ago, there aren’t any 4* QR users, so a free QR that’ll save you 20k feathers is excellent. Especially considering Speed Ploy is available at 4* from Saias, a rather unremarkable Grail unit. If anything, this goes to show you that the Ploy skills really need an upgrade and also they need to spread out their skills a little more evenly, this is just ludicrous. Take QR and don’t sweat the decision.
Sigurd — Our favorite BBQ father is an example of the level of power creep that now takes place every few months. Six months ago, we were only a month removed from the inclusion of Chad — a straight to 3/4* unit that packs Speed Smoke at 4* in the hell that is pulling on colorless. Most Summoners have now had 7 months to pull on colorless and find Chad waiting for them. You maybe are here for Close Defense, because you have a pretty solid idea for stacking Close Def on the A and SS slots on a stall tank. I respect it. Also, Miracle isn’t rare, but it’s here. Take Close Def 3 or Speed Smoke 3 for fodder but, I suspect you’re here for a merge. Honestly Sigurd and Deirdre should be switched, if they were following any kind of real rarity considerations, so just thank the stars you got QR 3 1,200 Divine Codes ago.
Lewyn — Special Spiral. Don’t even hesitate. Swift Sparrow 2 is great, and you can snag that as well if you’re judicious with your Grail sacrifices, but don’t let Odd Atk Wave 3 cloud your judgement, especially since Spring Bartre was just added to the Grail pool. It’s Special Spiral or bust.
Dancer Ishtar — One of the few dancers that can boast to have offensive utility outside of dancing, maybe you’d like a merge. Otherwise, you’re here for Swift Sparrow 3 and I don’t blame you. However, if you’re content to hoard a little longer, this skill will continue to be added on newer units that you might snag and not care for. Outside of Distant Counter, Swift Sparrow 3 is the second most available skill of the 2,000 Divine Code options. If you don’t spend them, you pretty much have enough to snag the first three options from any other Path…sometimes F2P is about quantity over quality. One last thought: if you’re particularly fond of Flier teams, Air Orders is an excellent C skill and some lucky flier could get both Air Orders 3 and Swift Sparrow 3 as new tools in their tool box.
This Path has the distinction of having only one unit that’s a seasonal, everything else is in the summoning pool. This makes it the Path I suspect the fewest people will take (as well as a testament to just how little IS seems to care for the Jugdral cast.) You’re getting Steady Blow 2 and Drive Atk 2; Quick Riposte 3 and Spd Ploy 1; Close Defense 3 and Miracle OR Speed Smoke and Miracle; Special Spiral 3 and Swift Sparrow 2 with the right move; and Swift Sparrow 3 OR Air Orders and Swift Sparrow 3, depending. That’s roughly 9 skill sets across 5 units, but I’d say the quality of those skills is lower, simply because most of this path’s units are available in the summoning pool.
Mystery / Shadows
Bridal Caeda — Celica — Picnic Genny — Spring Palla — Kliff
Bridal Caeda — Listen, Bridal Caeda has a nigh-useless weapon, and skills that are either borderline between useless and powercrept. You started on this path for a Bridal Caeda merge, and you likely took it months ago.
Celica — Another candidate for “you likely wanted a merge.” Distant Def 3, while 5* locked, is best used on units that can Distant Def stack (Guard Bow+ users), everyone else can just use the SS. If you’ve got a good Guard Bow+ user in mind, that’s solid fodder. Spur Def 3 is available on both Sully AND M!Robin at 4*… you have this.
Picnic Genny — Here’s where this calculus starts to get fun. The least painful decision is Toasty Skewer + and Fireflood Balm+, these are direct upgrades for most common healers (plus the aesthetic of Toasty Skewer+ is top tier). Your other options are weird, less satisfying choices of Wrathful Staff 3 and Def Opening 3. Similar to how new 5* armors get Bold/Vengeful Fighter 3 if Intelligent Systems is having a bad brain day, new 5* healers get either Wrathful/Dazzling Staff 3. Stay focused. Def Opening 3 isn’t a bad choice, but it is available on Cormag, a grail unit +20k feathers. It’s also just not as useful as Attack or Speed Opening. Your most satisfying bet is Toasty Skewer+ and Fireflood Balm+.
Spring Palla — IS is showing us that they really, really value the AR-related skills highly. For the layman, take Pegasus Carrot+ and Swift Sparrow 2 for your favorite dagger user, they deserve to be spoiled a little bit. Hone Fliers is one of those weird rarer skills that find their use on Flier teams. If that’s what you need for your barracks, no one will hold it against you. Otherwise, Armored effective items are always excellent to have for things like AA and various high-level Lunatic/Abyssal maps. If you must take Disarm Trap…I’ll leave it at that.
Kliff — I’ll actually say that, while Kliff isn’t a particularly effective unit, you gotta give IS props for trying to be creative. Fortress Def/Res 3 is your prize for finishing this Path. Make sure you inherit either Fortress Def or Res 1 from one of the various common units that possess it. Chill Speed 3 is enticing, but there are other avenues for it (or sacrifice a Panne). Enjoy your unit’s newly enhanced defenses!
This Path really doesn’t hit its stride until the third option. All told, you’re getting Blessed Bouquet+ and Attack/Res 2; Distant Def 3; Toasty Skewer+ and Fireflood Balm+ OR Def Opening 3 OR Wrathful Staff 3; Pegasus Carrot+ and Swift Sparrow 2 OR Disarm Trap 3 and Hone Fliers; and Fortress Def/Res 3 and Chill Speed 3 (if you sacrifice a Panne). Roughly 8 or 9 full skill sets from 5 units, half of which are (debatably) not worth the cost.
Heroes
Spring Alfonse — Yglr — Spring Bruno — New Year’s Fjorm — Summer Laevatein
Spring Alfonse — Alfonse’s first alt hasn’t aged well, but packs a couple of useful skills, namely Giant Spoon+. The seasonal version of Wo Gun+ has aesthetic appeal for many. You can also snag Def Smoke 3 if you sacrifice a 4* Panne or Rath as well, which is a decent return on investment.
Ylgr — The only non-seasonal unit in this Path. For a while, Ylgr was one of the only source of Speed Tactic that wasn’t on a Legendary Hero and is still the only source of Sorcery Blade (both of which are now seals). Speed Tactic obviously still has use on mixed teams, but the cost is much lower with the addition of Summer Lute. Sorcery Blade, while a fun skill, is actually better as a sacred seal, allowing units to shine with an A skill as well. Chill Speed technically has wide-spread availability, but on either 5* locked units, seasonals, or Panne. The skill is usually very nice to have on a team, and I suspect most Ylgr’s pulled will be for Chill Speed.
Spring Bruno — As with Picnic Genny before, Spring Bruno’s main draw is his Ovoid Staff+, which provides solid utility to teammates, especially in longer maps like Chain Challenges or Tempest Trials. Atk/Def Push 3 was rare for a period of time before released on Heath a few months ago. Dazzling Staff is useful, but widespread, with more units packing it surely to come. Atk/Def Push 3 is the main draw for boosting other staff merge projects and will be useful to hold on to for when Atk/Def Push 4 is released on a character not named Bramimond. Either pull and wait or use him for his staff.
New Year’s Fjorm — Another unit that will make you do some major inheritance math. Fjorm packs the Kabura Ya+ bow (which has Chill Speed 3 built in) as well as Atk/Spd Bond 3, Atk/Spd Link 3, and Even Res Wave 3. Chill Speed in a weapon allows its inheritor to be one of a short list of characters able to run the Triple Chill strategy, which has significant merit. Unfortunately, going that route more or less locks you out of a full skill in addition. Atk/Spd Bond 3 is available on 11 different units, the cheapest being Bridal Louise. Sacrificing a 4* Bridal Louise will allow you to snag Atk/Spd Bond 3 as well. Atk/Spd Link 3 is even rarer, appearing only on seasonal units, none of which appear at 4 stars. Even Res Wave is slightly cheaper, being on Brave Hector, but it’s honestly a skill you can pass on. If you’re willing to spend a Bridal Louise, grabbing Kabura Ya+, Atk/Spd Bond 3 (after sacrificing Bridal Louise), and a “free” Reposition is your best bet.
Summer Laevatein — And finally, the last unit on the last route, S!Laevatein. You’re gonna grab Mirror Impact, currently a skill only available on a Legendary unit and two seasonals. If you take the time to sacrifice an Oliver, you’ll be able to snag your choice of either Def/Res Link 3 or Odd Attack Wave 3 — both of which are available at 4* on Grail units (Sigurn for Def/Res Link 3, Spring Bartre for Odd Attack Wave 3). Feel free to attempt to snag Buoyboard+ as well for the aesthetic, but you’re better off with other tomes. All in all, dealer’s choice!
As stated, this route has the distinction of only having one non-seasonal unit and provides a decent amount of variety. You’ll get Giant Spoon+ and Def Smoke 3 (with Panne/Rath sacrifice) OR Sturdy Blow 2 and Def Smoke 3 with common sacrifice from someone like Athena; Sorcery Blade 3 OR Chill Speed 3 OR Speed Tactic by themselves OR Chill Speed 3 and your choice of the others with a Panne sacrifice; Ovoid Staff+ and Atk/Def Push OR Wrathful Staff 2, or one of those fully and a Martyr+ to avoid other feather costs; Kabura Ya+ and Atk/Spd Bond 3 (with Bridal Louise sacrifice) OR Atk/Spd Link 3 with Atk/Spd Bond 3, thanks to Bridal Louise’s sacrifice; and Mirror Impact and Def/Res Link 3 OR Odd Attack Wave 3 with Oliver sacrifice. All in all, you’re looking at 8 or 9 full skill sets across 5 units, which is an average return, but the variety in these skills is slightly higher due to the number of seasonals and Ylgr having a strangely high number of desirable skills.
If you made it this far, thanks for sticking with me. I hope some people found this helpful!

Nom De Guerre
Prompt: In exchange for some art at TFCon, I promised @xraybeeb some DinoTrap! They’re still at the awkward pretending-they-don’t-like-each-other stage because, it turns out, I just wanted to write banter. Continuity: Beast Wars, some vague point post-transmetal and pre-Code of Hero. Pairing: Rattrap/Dinobot, but only faintly Wordcount: 2000 Summary: Dinobot wants to know what Rattrap’s name was back on Cybertron. Somehow that segues into Rattrap learning about Dinobot’s surprise Autobot idols.
Rattrap was almost back to base, at the end of his patrol, when he saw someone standing on top of the Axalon, silhouetted against the night sky. "Hey! What—?!" He skidded to a stop, transforming and looking up at the mysterious bot. "Who—? Oh. HEY, CHOPPERFACE!"
Dinobot's gaze lowered from the stars to Rattrap.
"Stop melodramatically stargazin'! It's so dark out, I thought you were a Predacon!" He paused. "... A different Predacon!"
Faintly, Dinobot yelled back, "Come and make me stop!"
"I'm n—"
"Unless you're a coward!"
Rattrap let out a long sigh that he hoped was loud enough for Dinobot to hear from the top of the ship. And then commed Optimus. "Hey, boss bot—I'm back from patrol, buuut I'm not comin' in just yet. Dinobot's on top of the ship and I've gotta go wittily banter him to death. If I start screamin', send backup."
It took a couple of minutes for Rattrap to find a route to scale the Axalon and reach Dinobot's position. Dinobot wasn't even waiting for him—he was sitting cross-legged on the far side of the ship, facing away. "Okay, reptile. Challenge accepted and defeated. Now get off the stupid—"
"What did you go by," Dinobot said, "back on Cybertron?"
Rattrap stopped, staring at Dinobot's back. "... Did you call me all the way up here just t'ask me my real name?!"
"No. I started wondering while waiting for you to laboriously scale the ship."
"Ooh, you condescendin'..." Rattrap muttered invectives as he stomped up behind Dinobot. "I oughta kick you off the side."
"I would be delighted to see you try."
Of course, he didn't. Instead, he stopped beside Dinobot, surveying the view. Eh. It wasn't bad, he supposed.
"Rattletrap."
Dinobot looked at him, clearly waiting for him to elaborate; but Rattrap didn't know what elaboration he wanted, so he said what anyone would say after introducing their name: "Nice t'meet you."
Dinobot snorted, shoulders jerking.
Rattrap sat down beside Dinobot, legs stretched out in front of him. "I know, it's just one syllable off from what I got now." Rattrap had no idea what Dinobot's basis of comparison was—he didn't know what any of the Darksyde’s crew had gone by, aside from the fact that their illustrious and big-headed leader had been alias "Megatron" for decades—but out of the original Axalon crew, Rattrap had stayed closer to his original name than any of the other Maximals. "But, eh—I'm attached to my name, y'know? Rattletrap suits me. It's..." He trailed off. He'd never had to describe his name before; it was like trying to describe his own transformation sequence.
"Unreliable? Rickety? In poor health?"
"Unassumin'," Rattrap snapped. "You can get a whole lot done while people are busy underestimatin' you because you've got a name that makes you sound like a jalopy."
"Your very name is an act of subterfuge." Dinobot sniffed disdainfully and looked away from Rattrap at last, surveying the quiet night. "Dishonorable. But, I suppose, effective. For someone like you."
"Tch, you flatterer." Rattrap leaned back, settling himself on his elbows. Oh yeah, this was gonna be a long banter. He could feel it. "How 'bout you? Who were you on Cybertron?"
"Dinobot."
Rattrap gave him a surprised look. "No kiddin'? Before you were a 'raptor?"
"Yes. My organic beast mode was fortuitous. In fact I named myself Dinobot long ago."
Named himself. Huh. "I figure you're named after...?"
"The Dinobots who fought at the end of the Great War, yes. I consider them my role models."
"Really!" Rattrap scooted over so he could roll onto one side, giving Dinobot his full attention. "You don't say! Oh, I want to hear all about how the Dinobots are role models."
"You mock me."
"Nooo. Me? Never," Rattrap said mockingly.
Dinobot snarled at him. "The Dinobots are consummate warriors! They are aggressive, direct, indefatigable—"
"Probably don't know what 'indefatigable' means."
Dinobot swiped threateningly at Rattrap. "Honest. Fearless. Loyal to their own, and they make no pretenses of loyalty to those they don't consider their own. And they carried those ideals with them everywhere—no matter in whose company they found themselves, and no matter how little others understood their ideals."
And something about the way Dinobot said that made Rattrap uncomfortably aware of how much he was one of those people who didn't get Dinobot's ideals. Not, he reminded himself, that he wanted to get them—they were, after all, Predacon ideals—but, still... Still. Still.
Had to be lonely, Rattrap supposed.
"They embody a nobility of character which I can only aspire to match," Dinobot concluded.
Rattrap nodded slowly, taking in that analysis. "... They're also dumber than a bag of rocks."
He expected another swipe for that. Instead, Dinobot said, wryly, "You'll notice that, in listing their virtues, I did not include intelligence."
Rattrap laughed. "Okay! Okay, fair," he said. "You uh—you do know that your heroes were also Autobots, right?"
Dinobot gave Rattrap an exasperated look. And then sat up straighter. "What are you—? Stop posing like that! You look ridiculous!"
"Wha—?" At some point, as Rattrap listened to Dinobot wax poetic about Dinobots, he had ended up laying on his side with one hand propping up his cheek and the other arm draped across his waist. He did look ridiculous. Flustered, he sat straight up again. "I— W— Don't change the topic! What kinda role models are a pack of Autobots for a big bad Pred, huh?"
"You insult them by calling them Autobots." Dinobot was back to staring at the horizon, refusing to look at Rattrap. "Perhaps they wore the Autobot badge—but they were never given Autobot coding. In behavior—in spirit—although they fought for the Autobots, in their sparks they were Decepticon."
"They tell you that themselves, or are you just projectin'?"
"Have you nothing else to contribute but critical snark?!"
"Well I can't contribute saucy poses anymore, can I?" But all right, maybe he should tone it down. This was... actually an intriguing side to Dinobot. The Predacon that venerates Autobots.
Dinobot gave him a dark look. "They were detested by their teammates. Loathed. That's not projecting."
Rattrap swallowed a half dozen snappy replies. "Yeah? I heard they were hard to get on with, but..."
"It's the truth. The Autobots who fought alongside them distrusted them. They saw them as burdens—mere berserkers to be unleashed on the enemy, and then tolerated and contained until the next battle. They were utilized for their innate combat capabilities without being respected for them. In many ways... the Autobots' treatment of the Dinobots was a model for the Maximals' later treatment of Predacons."
Once again, Rattrap felt far more conscious than he wanted to be of how little he knew about what went on in Dinobot's head—in Dinobot's life—or any other Predacon's, for that matter. True, he still didn't want to know the first thing about what regularly passed through, say, Megatron's mind, or Waspinator's, or—eesh—Tarantulas's—but... times like this, when Rattrap was being honest with himself, he kinda felt like he was missing out on something, not being able to guess what Dinobot was thinking.
... He didn't want to linger on that for too long. "So. Who's your fave?"
"Grimlock!" Dinobot said it instantly, as though he'd been just waiting to be asked. "The greatest fighter! Before I permanently adopted the nom de guerre 'Dinobot,' for years I went by 'Grim' in his honor."
"It suits ya." Maybe it didn't suit him right then, though—he was gushing like a newbuild talking about their favorite pop star.
"He should h—thank you." Dinobot actually sounded like he meant it. (He probably hadn’t heard that before, had he? What kind of nerve did he have to have to be a Predacon among Predacons going by an Autobot’s name? Rattrap was beginning to suspect that Dinobot had been lonely long before he’d surrounded himself by Maximals.) "He should have assumed the mantle of Autobot leadership. There was an opportunity, when Optimus Prime fell in combat to Megatron. The Autobots should have recognized that, with the Decepticons in full control of Cybertron and the Autobots only holding back a few off-world garrisons, they were in desperate need of a new style of leadership. The Matrix of Leadership should have been offered to Grimlock—he would have ruled the Autobots as a warrior-king!"
"And... this woulda been a good thing or a bad thing for your Decepticon ancestors?"
"Ah—well..." Dinobot shrugged, an uncharacteristically casual gesture, and quickly moved on. "Whoever won, he would at least have shown the Decepticons more respect than the likes of Rodimus Prime. Which is the same reason he wasn't selected. The Autobots could no more appreciate Grimlock's virtues than they could a Decepticon—for they, unlike he, were not born warriors. For all their combat training, they were mere..." he let out a lizardy snarl of derision, "cccivil ssservants."
"Aaand..." Oh, Rattrap was having too much fun with this. "Assumin' he did get the Matrix, what was his name gonna be?"
Without hesitation, Dinobot replied, "Tyrannimus Prime." He raised his voice over Rattrap's peals of laughter. "Stop that! I didn't come up with it!"
"Wh-who did?!" Rattrap was flat on his back laughing. "Oh—oh, man—don't tell me you Preds have worked out all the details of a whole alternate history where Grimlock lead the Autobots!"
Dinobot was silent for an embarrassingly long time. And then mumbled, "It's not just Predacons—"
Rattrap cracked up again.
The stars in his peripheral vision were blocked; Dinobot was walking away. Rattrap immediately stopped laughing. "H-hey!" He rolled over, got to his feet, and trotted after Dinobot. "Hey, come back, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have laughed. It's—it's just surprising to me—and I mean, maybe I don't get it, but—hey, everyone's got hobbies."
Dinobot didn't stop.
Rattrap sighed. Oh, boy, he'd messed that up. How was he gonna fix this? "... I learned to fight from Arcee."
Dinobot stopped walking.
"Dunno how much you know 'bout Maximals, but we still get mandatory military training. In case..." Even though Dinobot wasn't looking, Rattrap gestured vaguely in the direction of the Darksyde. "In case. I was under... pfft, I don't remember his name now. One of the Protectobots. But I wanted to learn from Arcee. I fought tooth 'n' claw to get that transfer."
"Arcee," Dinobot said slowly, "is one of the finest warriors the Autobots ever produced."
"And unassumin'," Rattrap said. "The kinda person you underestimate until it's too late."
Finally, Dinobot turned back to Rattrap. "I have heard tales of her kindness, gentleness, and civility—right up until she eliminates her enemy. Are they true?"
"All true," Rattrap nodded. "She was the sweetest 'bot you'd ever meet—'til she wasn't."
"Hmmm." Dinobot surveyed Rattrap critically. "She taught you so little."
"'Ey!" He elbowed Dinobot. Good, they were back to normal. "Siddown and look at the stars again, reptile breath, I'm already sick of lookin' up at you."
Dinobot bent over and snorted in Rattrap's face—Rattrap made exaggerated gagging sounds—but he did march back to his original spot and sit again. "I don't relish the idea of you looking down at me, either. Sit."
Rattrap flopped back down. "As you command, Tyrannimus."
Dinobot shoved him over as Rattrap laughed. But it was, for Dinobot, a gentle shove. Rattrap should call him Tyrannimus more often. Maybe not around the others; that'd take a little too much explaining. "Either be quiet or tell me more about Arcee."
"Fine, fine! Whaddaya wanna know?"
"Is it true that she paints herself with energon?"
"You know—I was always a little too scared to ask."
"Well, what did she smell like?"
"Excuse me?"
"You can tell if paint is energon-based from how it smells when it's warm, and Cybertronian bodies are almost always warm enough to activate the—"
"Why do you know this?"
It was another half hour before they were interrupted by Silverbolt, who had, apparently, been sent outside to ensure that Dinobot and Rattrap hadn't been kidnapped by Predacons and/or quietly murdered each other. By the time they were back inside, Dinobot was already radiating a surly "don't touch me, speak to me, or acknowledge that I possess a corporeal form on this mortal plane" aura; nobody spoke until he'd disappeared down the hall to his quarters.
Once he was well out of audial shot, Optimus asked Rattrap what in the world had kept them outside so long.
Rattrap shrugged. What had they talked about, really? Dinobots and alternate history and basic training? "He wanted to know my real name."
