FiLiX [fil-lix]

[ID: A five striped horizontal flag. The first and last stripes are thicker than the others. The colours, order of top-down, are light-purple, greyish blue-purple, blue, dark blue-purple, and plum. END ID.]

Someone who is m-spec (multisexual-spectrum) and is finic, linic, and xinic (respectively meaning someone with a preference for individuals who are feminine-in-nature, androgynous-in-nature, and xenic-in-nature, this can mean gender wise and/or presentation wise) in a simultaneous or fluid way. This can be used as a standalone label or as a combination label (ex. polysexual FiLiX, FiLiX omnisexual.)

The light purple represents androgyny, the blue represents xeninity, the plum represents femininity, and the others (the blue-purple stripes) represent the fluidity/blurriness/overlap/etc of these preferences. (These other stripes might also represent one’s attraction spilling out beyond their preferences.)

FiNiX [fin-nix]

This can be used as a standalone label or as a combination label (ex. polysexual FiNiX, FiNiX omnisexual.)

The yellow-orange represents femininity, the blue represents xeninity, the purple represents neutrality, and the others (the greyish brown and indigo) represent the fluidity/blurriness/overlap/etc. of these preferences. (These other stripes might also represent one’s attraction spilling out beyond their preferences.)

Finic, xinic and ninic were coined here [link]. My colour palette was inspired by those coinings.

It seems like linic hasn’t been officially coined (please inform me of a link if it has been!) so… Linic: Someone on the multisexual spectrum who has a preference towards individuals who’s gender/presentation are androgynous-in-nature (LIN).

The coining post for finic, xinic and ninic states preference for [FIN/MIN/NIN/XIN] gender, however these two labels are specifically including gender and/or presentation.

The only requirement for identifying as these is being multisexual(-spec) in some way (this blog supports m-spec monos/mono m-specs and complex identities!)

The glossy dark green leaves of Shortia soldanelloides (fringed galax) turn a deep red in the early autumn. This Japanese woodland plant needs a cool, moist acid soil with a high humus content in light shade. The leaf shape contrasts with the fronds of Athyrium filix-femina 'Frizelliae' (tatting fern).

Here’s a BUNCH of recent doodles. That new kid is named Ross Well, hes Filix’s adopted son and student who loves space and aliens.

The rat is named Specimen 56, shes Germ’s lab rat. She has glasses baby goggles style.

filix was on the vessel when it crashed

poke was born in the outer wilds and studied under annona, who was on the vessel

conoy, who worked in the observatory on brittle hollow, was born "long" after the vessel crash

ramie, who proved with pye that the black hole/white hole anomaly was possible to replicate and increase, was a child on ember twin

laevi and lami are a similar age to solanum, who was about to come of age when the interloper arrived

there were kids playing on the fossil while it was being studied and they changed their game as the adults learnt about it, who were maybe laevi/lami/solanum/etc. this seems like the most incongruous bit; it doesn't fit with what otherwise sounds to be three generations (vessel inhabitants>adults born in the system>solanum's peers). i can only really explain it as being that the kids coleus and melorae are talking about are not laevi/lami/solanum/etc, and the game became less accurate as the kids playing changed out. (or occam's razor, it's like that to point the player at HEY THE KIDS KNOW THINGS ABOUT ANGLERFISH)

Do you think that, in his final moments, Escall blamed himself for everything that happened to his clan. If he had let Filix send out that message before warping, maybe help would've arrived sooner. If he hadn't been so rash to warp to the eye's approximate location.

Even blaming himself for the things that were completely out of his control like them warping into Dark Bramble bc of its space-bending properties. Or that pod 3 was forced to follow the closer vessel beacon signal bc they wouldn't have enough oxygen to make it to the further one.

That recording you find at the Nomai grave wasn't even done by Escall, it was Secca. While the group's dearest hope was that the rest of the pods reached safety, Escall probably died, full of regret that his actions led his clan to this

Ferns(Dryopteris filix-mas) in a mountain crevice.

trying to translate my ocs name [thistlefiddle] into clanmew and i went with kekra for the prefix as it fits best, but i can't seem to find any words for the suffix [fiddle in this case is from fiddlehead fern]

A fiddlehead is just the young shoot of any edible fern before it unfurls! Clan cats don't have a particular word for this, because they are obligate carnivores and don't collect them for food like humans do.

Here are three words that can be used and are already in the lexicon, plus some more. Feel free to take your pick.

Fern (Generic) = Nan

Frond (Leaf of a fern) = Nanshiff

Bracken (Pteridium aquilinum) = Fofnan

Wall Rue (Asplenium ruta-muraria) = Pymwee They aren't actually aware this is a fern, this word comes from Slate-Parsley.

Lady Fern (Athyrium filix-femina) = Namar Describes large, grand ferns with lots of fronds, not JUST A. filix-femina. But this species is the largest in the area. It can be used as a less powerful Marssi sometimes. NOTE: In English these are the 'lady' and 'male' ferns, but these are not gendered in Clanmew.

Man Fern (Dryopteris filix-mas) = Marssi Very important medicinally to treat tapeworms, which is acquired from eating raw prey..... squirrelflight

Spleenwort (Asplenium trichomanes) = Norp Another medicinal herb, grows out of cliffsides the same way that Wall Rue does.

Hartstongue (Asplenium scolopendrium) = Weskan A huge, flat-leafed fern. The only one that doesn't have "fronds" by Clan cat standards! Comes from a corruption of "Holly-Fern."

And lastly! If you were wondering!!

Fernstripe = Namarseek Lady Fern + Long, thick stripe, referencing a fern-shaped stripe that runs down her back with fronds that branch off.

Fernsong = Nanyanaya Generic Fern + Singing, comes from the fact his kittypet name was Fiddles, which he INSISTED was some sort of fern, so they translated it as such!

Brackenfur = Fofnanfaf Straightfoward. Bracken + Fur.

Fernshade = Weskanhorrl Hartstongue + Understorey. Refers to Fernshade being an excellent, sneaky hunter who fares well even when there's very little cover.

Ferncloud = Marssiharryr Man fern + fast-moving-cloud. She's called Marryr for short. Her suffix was given based on her participation in the Dog Relay Race, she runs VERY fast.
