Rise in parents engaging in sex-selection during IVF has the fertility biz booming
By Cassy Fiano-Chesser | May 14, 2024
The fertility industry has opened new doors for countless would-be parents across the globe, and it’s not just doors allowing them to have children. Thanks to in-vitro fertilization (IVF), people can create their children and then have them tested to ensure they meet all the right specifications. While this brave new world sounds like something out of a science fiction novel, it’s all too real – and using IVF to select the kind of child you want is becoming more and more common.
In 2021, socialite and reality television alum Paris Hilton announced her plans to use IVF to create her family, and choosing the sex of her babies was one of the reasons. “Well, we have been doing the IVF. So I can pick twins if I like. Kim [Kardashian] is actually the one who told me about that, I didn’t even know anything about it. And I’m happy she told me that advice, and introduced me to her doctor, so yeah. We have them all ready to go,” she said, continuing, “I think it’s just something most women should do, just to have. And then you can pick if you want boys or girls — just because I really want to have twins that are a boy and a girl. The only way to 100% get that is by making it happen that way.”
Hilton is hardly alone. The number of people foregoing sex in favor of IVF in order to have children is growing — as is sex selection. Though, according to the Daily Mail, sex selection is illegal in most of the globe, it isn’t in the United States, and it’s become trendy.
“The market is the size of the human race,” Jeffrey Steinberg, founder of the Fertility Institutes in Los Angeles, said in an interview with Slate. He claimed 85% of his clients are drawn in by the idea of choosing their baby’s sex.
Sex selection has long been practiced, albeit not using IVF; instead, parents sometimes found out the sex of their baby during an ultrasound, and if it was the “wrong” sex, they sought an abortion. Though this has typically been a way to bolster a cultural preference for boys, Slate pointed out that in the United States, it’s become the opposite: the market is skewed toward girls.
Sharon Moayeri, the founder of OC Fertility in Newport Beach, California, does not market the ability to choose the baby’s sex as aggressively as Steinberg does, and therefore, said only around 15% of her clients arrive without fertility issues. Another doctor at the medical center at the University of California San Francisco told Slate that “single mothers by choice, same-sex couples, and families with a history of autism” were typically more likely to request girls. A study also found that white parents having their first child chose female embryos 70% of the time.
"When I think about having a child that’s a boy, it’s almost a repulsion, like, Oh my God, no,” one woman said.
Another argued, “Boy children tend to be less caring towards their parents. It doesn’t really matter if it’s socialized or biological. It’s probably socialized, but I can’t change all of society.”
And because laws in other countries ban sex selection, thousands of people fly to the United States each year just to take advantage of this country’s lax fertility regulations. And it means big business for the fertility industry.
“It’s a moneymaking industry,” Laura Kerwin, a Harvard-trained psychologist, told Slate. “People need to realize that [clinics] have a fiduciary duty to their shareholders to make money. They’re trying to sell you on an option.”
There is little to no oversight within the fertility industry, meaning there is little to no information on what the current state of the industry is. “We do not even know how many frozen embryos we have in this country,” Margaret Marsh, a professor at Rutgers University, told the Atlantic, explaining that the last count — 400,000 — was 20 years ago. “[Today] we have no idea.”
The Atlantic also noted that 75% of fertility clinics advertise sex-selection as an offered service, allowing people to undergo IVF simply because they want to choose if they have a boy or a girl. Steinberg told the Atlantic this “service” makes the fertility industry approximately $90 million each year.
Steinberg also scoffed at the notion of increased regulations, saying it is “putting the handcuffs on scientists.” Then, using pro-abortion terminology, he added, “If there’s anything society should have learned, it’s ‘Keep their hands off of people’s reproductive choices’.”
IVF, though often described as a way to help heartbroken infertile couples to create families, has created a monster in which children are no longer treated as human beings, but as products to be designed, engineered, and then sold to the highest bidder upon demand. And as these embryonic children are products, they can be screened, destroyed, traded, and even turned into jewelry.
Any attempts to cut back on this commodification is swiftly attacked as cruelty towards the infertile — but what about the children being created? What will it take for the line to be drawn and a stop be placed on this reproductive free-for-all?
I checked on that statement about embryos turned into jewelry and found articles mostly dating back to 2018. But it did happen.

"When I think about having a child that’s a boy, it’s almost a repulsion, like, Oh my God, no,” one woman said. While I get that I'm still creeped out about this being a big international business.

"The woman, carved in pale stone, wears a peaked headdress, circular earrings and the wide hip belt and kneepads of an ancient Mesoamerican athlete. Her expression is fierce, her pose triumphant. In her right hand, she grips the severed head of a sacrificial victim by the hair.
The sculpture is the first life-size representation of a ritual ballplayer found to date in the Huasteca, a tropical region spanning parts of several states along the Gulf Coast of Mexico.
Like virtually every other Mesoamerican society, the inhabitants of the Huasteca played what is simply known today as “the ballgame,” in the time before the Spanish conquest. Despite its name and ties to modern soccer, this game was more sacred rite than sport.
For the players, who bounce a solid, dangerously heavy rubber ball off their hips, it was a means of communing with the gods, one that sometimes culminated in human sacrifice.
The ballplayer will be among the most important artifacts in an exhibit, “Ancient Huasteca Women: Goddesses, Warriors and Governors,” at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, opening Friday. This is the first time the piece, which was discovered by landowners about 50 years ago near Álamo, Veracruz, has been on public display.
“It is a totally atypical sculpture,” said David Antonio Morales, an archaeologist with the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Veracruz, who stumbled upon it last November when he was visiting private collections.
He contacted María Eugenia Maldonado, one of the few archaeologists specializing in the pre-Columbian past of the Huasteca. At first, she didn’t think the figure could be real. It would be the first stone sculpture of a ballplayer found in the region, the first female ballplayer and the first at this scale holding a decapitated head.
“It’s putting all the elements into a single sculpture that had never been seen together before,” she said. “That is the importance of this sculpture.”
Kim N. Richter, a historian of pre-Columbian art at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles and an expert on female statues from the region, had not seen the piece. It “would be really important because we don’t have any monumental sculptures of ballplayers in the Huasteca to date, male or female,” she said. “So that would be a huge discovery in itself.”
Dr. Maldonado says she hopes the exhibition, with 100 artifacts, will challenge what she calls “superficial” interpretations of women’s roles that have riddled scholarship of the region. For decades, archaeologists have described sculptures of men as individuals in positions of power, like priests or rulers. They’ve tended to brush aside sculptures of women as images of a fertility goddess.""

People have worked for a century to make California’s Tulare Basin into a food grower’s paradise. That pastoral landscape now looks more like the Pacific Ocean in many areas.
Months of atmospheric river storms have pummeled the area and saturated the basin’s soil, which sits about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, not far from Fresno. The rains have led to floods that damaged towns and deluged farms and have begun to refill what was once a sprawling lake.
The floods have pitted neighboring property owners against one another and raised tensions over how to manage the flows, which have damaged hundreds of structures. And more water is on the way.
Experts say a monthslong, slow-burning crisis will play out next: A historic snowpack looms in the mountains above the basin — as it melts, it is likely to put downstream communities through months of torment. The flooding, which follows several years of extreme drought, showcases the weather whiplash typical of California, which vacillates between too wet and too dry. The influence of climate change can make the state’s extremes more intense.
“This is a slowly unfolding natural disaster,” said Jeffrey Mount, a senior fellow at the Water Policy Center of the Public Policy Institute of California. “There’s no way to handle it with the existing infrastructure.”
The re-forming Tulare Lake — which was drained for farming a century ago — could remain on the landscape for years, disrupting growers in a region that produces a significant proportion of the nation’s supply of almonds, pistachios, milk and fruit. High-stakes decisions over where that water travels could resonate across the country’s grocery store shelves.
In the farming communities that dot the historic lake bed, accusations of sabotaged levees, frantic efforts to patch breached banks and feuds — common occurrences during flood fights in the area — have started already, said Matt Hurley, a former water manager for several water districts in the Tulare Basin.
n the nearby town of Allensworth last month, a dispute over a culvert caused anxiety and friction with the railroad that sends trains through town. Residents worked into the night to plug a culvert — a drain under Highway 43 — with plywood and sandbags in a desperate effort to keep floodwater out of town.
But later that night, workers with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad unblocked the pipe, which left some Allensworth residents fuming as water flowed closer.
The residents had used BNSF materials without permission, said Lena Kent, a railroad spokesperson. Damming the culvert threatened the highway — the only access point to Allensworth at the time — and the rail tracks that run parallel to it.
Stress levels could remain high for months.
“The problem this year is it’s just begun. We may have water running at or near our flood level — in all of our streams, through August or September,” Hurley said. “This impending monster — a 50-foot-plus deep snowpack that we haven’t seen in 75 years —  is sitting up there, and we just don’t know how fast it’s going to turn into water and come out of the mountains.”
The Tulare Basin is at the southern end of California’s San Joaquin Valley — and in essence, it’s a massive bowl. Before irrigators dug canals and rerouted water for farming in the late 1800s, Tulare Lake filled the bowl’s lower reaches. Shallow water stretched across the landscape, and the lake was the largest body of freshwater west of the Mississippi.
Several rivers — Kings, Tule, Kern and Kaweah — historically dead-ended at the lake and replenished its water levels every spring, but farmers have diverted and rerouted so much water that the lake bed is now usually dry. It’s among the most fertile farmland in the country.
Today, the irrigation system is designed to “use every single drop of water” that flows into the basin, Mount said.
In fact, through aggressive groundwater pumping, farmers collectively use more water than what would flow to the lake every year. Pumping has caused the land to sink dramatically — it has subsided in parts of the San Joaquin Valley by as much as 28 feet, according to the U.S. Geological Survey — deepening the bowl.
This season, far more water is flowing than can be used.
For about two weeks, farmers and emergency workers have been scrambling to plug levees and prevent the worst as the ground became saturated and rivers swelled after a seemingly endless series of atmospheric river storms battered California.
The flooding has breached dozens of levees, forced rescues, swamped construction sites at California’s high-speed rail project and seeped into several communities, including Allensworth, a historic community that in 1908 was the first settlement west of the Mississippi to be founded and governed by Black Americans.
“What you’re seeing now more than anything else is traditional flood problems,” Mount said. “All of that water is making its way into the bottom of the bowl and starting to fill the bowl.”
What could come next is more unusual — and worrisome.
The Sierra Nevada mountains, above the Tulare Basin, are storing two to three times as much water as snowpack as is normal. If the snow melts quickly, it will send floodwater churning toward the lake bottom.
Tulare Lake refilled in 1997 and 1983 during very wet seasons. The snowpack is larger this year.
“If we use 1983 as an example: They had more than 80,000 acres of land underwater. If it’s bigger than that, it could be as much as 100,000 acres underwater,” Mount said.
Tulare County ranked second in the country for agricultural market value, according to the 2017 Census of Agriculture. The region produces almonds, oranges, pistachios, wine grapes, milk and cheese.
“This has a ripple effect on the nation’s food supply,” Mount said.
California officials have geared up for a long fight against flooding. Nearly 700 people were assigned to help with the emergency response just in Tulare County, where floodwater has damaged more than 900 structures so far.
But sandbags and helicopter-delivered super sacks — bulk bags filled with rocks and other material — can do only so much.
“At some point, you know, we do realize that there’s too much water, there’s more water in the Sierra than these facilities can handle,” Karla Nemeth, the director of the California Department of Water Resources, said at a recent media briefing. The agency will do the best it could to help mitigate damages, Nemeth said.
Once water makes it to the historic lake bed, there will be few options to remove it, other than to wait for it to evaporate or to try to move it through canals and pump it away.
Pumps are expensive and inefficient over such sprawling terrain. Differing levels of subsidence along the lake bed have changed the geometry of canals, which could complicate efforts to move water away.
In 1983, remnants of Tulare Lake remained on the landscape for about two years, Mount said. Hurley estimated that if it floods again, the expense required to return the landscape to growing crops would be in the billions.
The flooding could also spell disaster for farmworkers and those who live in the rural communities that dot the Tulare Basin.
“This is a low-income community. People are not out here stocking up food. They go paycheck to paycheck in a lot of cases,” said Kayode Kadara, of Allensworth, a community organizer. “All we’ve heard so far is with this unprecedented snowfall, what we’ve seen so far is a baby flood.”
For now, the best everyone can hope for is a cool summer — with a steady, manageable melt — and as much cooperation as they can muster.

Using cryogenic electron microscopy to study the lithium SEI during electrocatalysis
Ammonia (NH3), the chemical compound made of nitrogen and hydrogen, currently has many valuable uses, for instance serving as a crop fertilizer, purifying agent, and refrigerant gas. In recent years, scientists have been exploring its potential as an energy carrier, to reduce global carbon emissions and help tackle global warming.
Ammonia is currently produced via the Haber-Bosch process, a carbon-producing industrial chemical reaction that entails the conversion of nitrogen and hydrogen into NH3. As this process is known to heavily contribute to global carbon emissions, electrifying the synthesis of ammonia would be very beneficial for our planet.
One of the most promising strategies for electrically synthesizing ammonia at ambient conditions is based on the use of lithium metal. However, some aspects of these process, including the properties and role of lithium's passivation layer, known as the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), remain poorly understood.
Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of California- Los Angeles (UCLA), and the California Institute of Technology have recently carried out a study closely examining the reactivity of lithium and its SEI, as this could enhance lithium-based pathways to electrically synthesize ammonia. Their observations, published in Nature Energy, were collected using a state-of-the-art imaging method known as cryogenic transmission electron microscopy.

World Cities Day
World Cities Day is observed on October 31 every year. The aim of the day is to raise awareness about global urbanization and push for global cooperation in sustainable urban development. World Cities Day aligns with the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities — which deals with urban development sustainably. World Cities Day was announced by the U.N. in 2013 and has been observed every year since. The day brings to light the inequalities within the biggest cities in the world and pushes for greater social inclusion, including equality and access to services and opportunities.
History of World Cities Day
The first-ever cities appeared in the fertile crescent between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in a land known as Mesopotamia around 7500 B.C. These cities included Eridu, Ur, and Uruk. Soon, cities formed along the banks of the Nile River in Egypt, the Indus River in India, and the Huang He River in China. Cities grew in places with fertile soil, letting early humans abandon a more nomadic lifestyle. For the following millennia, cities continued to rise and fall across the world. Mesopotamia turned to rubble, the Indus Valley was deserted, and Rome rose and fell. But the institution of the city never went away.
Cities have been centers of trade, religion, culture, and education throughout history. However, the sheer scale of urban settlements today only became possible after the Industrial Revolution. The revolution drove people to cities in search of job opportunities in factories. Urban population growth has also been supported by technological advancements — these include the invention of steel, electricity conduction, elevators, etc. Over half the world’s population lives in cities now, and it’s more important than ever to make these people aware of how to sustainably co-exist within cities.
The U.N. has predicted that by 2030, there will be 41 megacities — cities with a population of over 10 million people. India, with its five megacities, is expected to house seven, other places that are bound to have megacities spring up include the likes of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Congo.

Breakthrough as eggs made from male mice cells
By Pallab Ghosh, Science correspondent
A Japanese researcher has told a major genetics conference that he has created eggs from the cells of male mice.
The research, still in its early stages, involved turning male XY sex chromosomes into female XX ones.
Prof Katsuhiko Hayashi from Osaka University is working on developing fertility treatments.
The development, which he has submitted for publication in the scientific journal Nature, raises the prospect of male couples having their own children.
Prof George Daley of Harvard Medical School, who is not involved in the research, said that there was still a long way to go before society was faced with such a decision.
''Hayashi's work is unpublished but fascinating. [Doing this on Humans] is harder than the mouse," he said. We still don't understand enough of the unique biology of human gametogenesis (the formation of reproductive cells) to reproduce Hayashi's provocative work in mice''.
Details were presented at the human gene-editing summit at the Crick Institute in London.
Prof Hayashi, a globally respected expert in the field, told delegates at the meeting that the work was at a very early stage. The eggs, he said were of low quality and the technique could not be used safely on humans at this stage.
But he told BBC News that he could see current problems overcome in ten years and he would like to see it available as a fertility treatment for both male and female and same sex couples if it is proven to be safe to use.
"If people want it and if society accepts such a technology then yes, I'm for it".
The technique involves first taking a skin cell from a male mouse and then turning it into a stem cell - a cell that can turn into other types of cell.
The cells are male and therefore have XY chromosomes. Prof Katsuhiko's team then delete the Y chromosome, duplicate the X chromosome and then stick the two X's together. This adjustment allows the stem cell to be programmed to become an egg.
The technique could be used to help infertile couples where women are not able to produce their own eggs. He stressed though that it was a long way off from being available as a fertility treatment.
"Even in mice there are many problems in the quality of the egg. So before we can think of it as a fertility treatment we have to overcome these problems, which could take a long long time," he said.
Prof Hayashi said he would not be in favour of it being used by a man to create a baby using his own sperm and artificially created eggs.
"Technically this is possible. I'm not so sure whether at this stage it is safe or acceptable for society".
Prof Amander Clark, a stem cell scientist from the University of Californa, Los Angeles said that the LBGTQ+ community should have a say in the use of the technology for reproduction.
"The LGBTQ+ community have unique needs when it comes to having a family. It may be possible in the future for same-sex reproduction based upon current research using laboratory models to develop the technology.
"However, today this technology is not available for human use, safety and efficacy has not been proven, and it is unclear how long the technology will take to get to the clinic. There is still much to learn about the human germ line and fundamental knowledge gaps serve as a barrier to translating this research to humans."
Cultural differences
Alta Charo, professor of law at the University of Wisconsin Maddison, said different cultures would have "profoundly different views" on whether to use the technology, if it became available.
"In some societies a genetic contribution to one's children is considered absolutely essential, and for them it's a question of 'is this a step to take?' for those who are not in a heterosexual arrangement.
"For other societies that's not as nearly as important, and child adoption is perfectly acceptable, because for them families are more about the personal relationship and less about the biological connection."
Prof Haoyi Wang, of the Chinese Academy of Science believes there is a very a long way to go before the technology could be considered for use in the clinic.
"Scientists never say never, in principle it has been done in mice so, of course, it may be possible in humans, but I can foresee a lot of challenges and I couldn't predict how many years that would be."

When The Rains Come
Tumblr media
Several years ago, the drought-prone city of Los Angeles began efforts to add more green spaces near roadways, replacing concrete with dirt and plants. They also created "spreading grounds" that allow water to be soaked up by the earth.
The idea was that with more dirt and plants, more water could be absorbed during the rainy season, which reduces flooding and conserves water for use when it's dry.
There were critics aplenty of these efforts, to be sure. More than a few of them leveled accusations of "wokeness" being the reason why so much of taxpayer's money was being used to make the changes.
Then, the rain came in early February. A lot of it. Record amounts.
But because of the efforts to replace concrete with dirt and plants, along with all of its traditional dams, from February 4-7, Los Angeles captured 8.6 billion gallons of water, enough to provide 106,000 households water for a year.
Michael Kiparsky, director of the Wheeler Water Institute at UC Berkely, stated:
"No one driveway or roof in and of itself causes massive alteration of the hydrologic cycle, but combine millions of them in one area, and it does. Maybe we can solve [the drought] problem with a thousand Band-Aids."
I thought about this story as an illustration of how to change the world, which most of us would like to do but never believe we can make a difference.
And I also thought about this story as an illustration of how keeping our hard concrete exteriors can damage ourselves and the world around us.
So many of us have hardened ourselves out of what we believe to be self-defense as a reaction to the chaos and turmoil of our current culture. We want the rain of our worries and fears to slide off us more easily.
Meanwhile, we're creating floods that can't be controlled, and the life-giving water from those rains is being lost, wasted, and unused. Our hardened exteriors are leading us to disaster.
But when we remove the concrete and become vulnerable to the rain, we soon discover that whatever it might bring can be soaked up and give life to the now exposed ground of our lives.
When more and more of us begin to learn this and break apart the hardness, it can change things for all of us, even those who cannot find the strength to be vulnerable.
The storms of life might seem as though they are bent on destroying us at times, but if we have done the excellent work of preparing our souls for them, there will be fertile ground within us to absorb what lessons they have to give us.
The reservoirs they fill will serve us well, not only us but our family and friends, co-workers, and even the strangers who encounter us. Our willingness to be vulnerable opens us up for so much more than maintaining our hardness.
May we be brave enough to break apart everything keeping us from growing and thriving and let the rains come without fear.
And may the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us now and always. Amen.

Revealing the Luminary - Traversing the Path of Dedication, Tenacity, and Excellence
This luminary in the making is none other than Sitara, who embarked on a journey into the world of acting—a journey nurtured by the seeds of inspiration planted in the fertile soil of a supportive family and fueled by an unwavering determination to leave an indelible mark on the canvas of the entertainment industry.
The genesis of this artistic odyssey lies in the fond memories of childhood, where a mother's love served as the catalyst for a burgeoning passion. Raised in a household where cinema and theater were not merely sources of entertainment but portals to a realm of imagination, our protagonist found herself enchanted by the magic of storytelling. The devoted matriarch, a tireless doctor by profession, recognized the spark within her children and made it a ritual to expose them to the wonders of the cinematic and theatrical arts.
It was amidst the flickering glow of the silver screen that our protagonist's love for acting took root. Those early years of shared cinematic experiences laid the foundation for a future where she would not merely be a spectator but a key player on the stage of life. The mother, perceptive and supportive, saw the budding talent in her daughter and took proactive steps to cultivate it.
Enrollment in acting classes marked a pivotal moment in our protagonist's journey. It was a decision that would shape her destiny and set the stage for the unfolding of a remarkable narrative. The first act, played on a local theater stage, featured a 10-year-old prodigy stepping into the shoes of the Queen of Hearts in a rendition of "Alice in Wonderland." The applause that followed was not just for a stellar performance but for the revelation of a star in the making.
As the curtain rose on the subsequent acts of her life, Sitara continued to tread the boards of local theaters during her middle and high school years. The study of Shakespeare plays became a rite of passage, offering her a deeper understanding of the nuances of the craft. In one of the defining moments of her early career, she portrayed Tituba in "The Crucible" at York School, showcasing not only her acting prowess but also her ability to immerse herself in characters of depth and complexity. Princess Sitara Masilamani
The journey was not confined to scripted roles alone. Sitara’s creative spirit found expression in the form of original plays. She took the reins of a playwright, crafting narratives that resonated with her peers. The stage became a canvas, and her classmates willingly stepped into the roles she envisioned, creating a collaborative synergy that hinted at the leadership qualities that would define her future endeavors.
Further shaping her artistic trajectory was her association with HARA Motion Pictures, an acting conservatory based in Monterey, California. This institution became a crucible for honing her skills in acting for film and television. It was here that she not only refined her craft but also received validation in the form of representation from an agency in San Francisco at the tender age of 14.
The journey, however, did not reach its zenith in Monterey. It was a stepping stone to the larger stage of Los Angeles, where dreams loomed large against the Hollywood backdrop. The Strassberg Center, an institution synonymous with excellence in acting education, became her alma mater. In the hallowed halls where many luminaries had honed their craft, our protagonist delved deeper into the intricacies of acting, acquiring the skills that would distinguish her in a city teeming with aspiring artists.
The transition to Los Angeles marked a significant chapter in her pursuit of excellence. Here, amidst the palm trees and studio lots, she immersed herself in the world of auditions, callbacks, and the relentless pursuit of perfection. The City of Angels, known for both its glamour and its challenges, became the proving ground where she tested the mettle of her dreams. Her commitment to the craft went beyond the confines of formal education. The ability to memorize lines with precision, coupled with a profound understanding of character psychology, set her apart. Each role she undertook became a canvas where she painted with emotions, a testament to her versatility as an actor. Sitara Masilamani
The dream that fueled this journey was as expansive as the horizon. It wasn't merely about becoming an actor; it was about becoming a lead in the grand narratives of feature films and television series. Hollywood and Bollywood were not distant realms but stages waiting for her to claim her place. The dream extended beyond acting; she aspired to write and produce movies that would not only entertain but also spotlight the talent of South Asian performers.
Comedy became her favored genre, a playground where her infectious laughter and comedic timing captivated audiences. Laughter, she believed, was a universal language that transcended cultural boundaries, and her goal was to be a source of joy for people around the world. The joy derived from making others laugh became a driving force, a motivation that propelled her through the challenges inherent in the pursuit of a creative life.
The characters Sitara envisioned for herself were not mere roles but embodiments of strength, resilience, and complexity. Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde," Cassie Howard in "Euphoria," Lalita in "Bridge and Prejudice," and Mastani in "Baji Rao Mastani" were not just names on a script; they were personas waiting to be inhabited. These characters, characterized by strong, multifaceted female leads, mirrored her own aspirations and values.
Empathy, the cornerstone of her craft, allowed her to seamlessly embody the characteristics of each character she portrayed. Her performances became windows into the human experience, inviting audiences to connect with the raw emotions she laid bare on the screen. Whether being dynamic, loud, shy, brave, passionate, sad, or happy, she took her audience on an emotional roller coaster, creating an intimate connection that transcended the boundaries of the screen.
The unfolding narrative of Sitara serves as an emblem of perseverance and dedication to her craft. Her journey, filled with both challenges and victories, epitomizes her unyielding commitment to her passion. In an ever-changing world where stability is elusive, she continues her path, serving as a shining example for those who dare to follow their dreams with equal zeal and enthusiasm.
