Fehu

Felt inspired today to make a new piece for the rune pulled.

In the past cattle was wealth and currency for people. So I decided to paint the cattle gold to further emphasize their representation of wealth.

Rune Meditations - Fehu

I've been prompted by Odin to meditate on a rune a day until I get through them all (because it probably won't be every day with the holiday traveling about to happen), and I felt like sharing what comes to me during these meditations. Since I started at the beginning, today's was fehu.

I was a little surprised because the word that kept coming to me was "enough." Fehu is associated with abundance, aka more than enough. I had some visions of nature prompted by Frey appear to me. The overall message from Frey/fehu was that in order for there to be an abundance of life, there must first be enough of it. Enough leaves to feed the bugs, bugs to feed birds, birds to feed large cats, etc., etc. the circle of life, right? There has to be enough life to sustain the rest of life, and the ability to have "the rest" is abundance. The ability to harvest a plant or hunt an animal for nourishment requires that we not deplete those resources so that we may harvest or hunt again. We live in a time and culture that encourages rampant consumerism and excess accompanied by a serious lack of care for the environment. When you take more than just enough, you begin to eliminate the possibility of abundance and continued life. When you have and take *enough*, there is still an abundance that remains so that all of life may also have enough. Abundance means enough for *everyone*, not just ourselves or a few or just our species. We must remember that we are but one being of billions on this earth. For one person to have abundance, aka more than enough, does not mean abundance or enough for others. When we seek to cultivate abundance, fehu now reminds me that true abundance comes when we all have enough. When invoking the magic of fehu, I will now ask myself (and I encourage you to do the same if this speaks to you): What can I do to make sure the lives in my immediate surroundings, including myself, have enough? If we can find enough for ourselves, we can work to find enough for others, and vice versa.

Elder Futhark ᚠᚱᛖ (or deconstructed ᛃ) ᚨ

The shape of this one was inspired by her travels searching for Óðr, crowns and all the realms/terrain the slain can come to her Halls from.

It also looks like a 😸 face.

ᚠᚱᛅ/ᛆᚱ, Elder/Younger Futhark

Originally I was going to do this in the shape of a boar; but was inspired instead by the antler that replaced Freyr's sword and how time can be marked by antler growth. There are many layers of stag symbolism that make me associate it with him as much as the boar. I also wanted to make a symbol that could be easily carved on a calendar stick to mark a hunt, feast or blót. The Autumnal Equinox is coming soon, and a Harvest...so Freyr has definitely been on the mind.

The 2 ᚱs make a heart, which makes me really happy too.

Good morning! This week's rune is Fehu.

Fehu is the rune of luck, mobile assets/material wealth, earned payment, opportunities, new beginnings, and success. While this rune is often associated with material wealth, Fehu is also a productivity rune (abundance, success, and "fertility"). So the next seven days is looking more abundant and fertile in terms of accomplishment. A goal you have been striving toward may finally be in reach. Doors to opportunities and new beginnings will be more plentiful in the next seven days. This week would also be a good time to reflect on wealth and what being wealthy truly means.

As things start to get more turbulent, it's important to take stock of what you have. Once you do, figure out how to grow it. How can you grow it so that it continues to sustain you *and* be able to provide for others? Others are struggling just as much as you. It doesn't mean we're having a pity party, fighting over who has it worse. It means we're assessing our needs so we can make sure we all get what we need to the best of our collective ability. Growth mindset *and* community mindset. Connect with people however you can. Even if it's a minute long conversation with the person at a checkout. Even if it's just texting a friend. *Connect*. It's how we build ourselves up so we can tackle all the bullshit that's in front of us. Abundance is best shared with those we care about. We can get through this if we pull our resources together.
