Thicker Than - Full Moon Update

Happy full moon everyone! I’m still just doing my thing, slowly but surely nudging this game towards the finish line. I know it’s taking forever, but I know I’ll get there in the end. I’m a completionist. It’s a blessing and a curse.

In terms of new stuff, I’ve added some new stuff to chapter 12, finished chapter 13, and added but not finished chapters 14 and 15. The players who get the most new content right now are players who want to talk to or kill the king and/or those who’ve romanced Nathan. However, there is some new connective tissue text that all players will see.

The demo has a few holes in it right now. I’ve been skipping over the romantic scenes so I can get a bigger, clearer picture of how the endgame is going to look and how it’s going to play out. Once that’s locked in, I think it’ll be easier to interweave the auxiliary stuff (which includes most of the kissing). In the meantime, I’m so excited to write these last three endings. I’m so close I can taste 'em.

Oh! And, before I forget, I haven’t had time to made new chapter titles (I made them way back when I started writing this game and only made up to chapter 13) so those headers aren’t going to look pretty yet, but hopefully that’s okay.

長月 (Nagatsuki) "September" (archaic)

Like many countries, Japan uses a 12-month calendar. The names are very simple. January is literally "Month one", February is "Month two", etc:

一月 = January

二月 = February

However, before the Meiji Restoration (mid-1800s) it was common to use an older 12-month system. These months’ names referenced the weather and the seasons (similar to the French Revolutionary calendar).

This old system is based on a lunar calendar with exactly 28 days in each month, beginning and ending on the new moon. 

September is 長月:

長 = long

月 = month

So literally, "the long month".

In September the nights get longer, and we can enjoy the beautiful harvest moon. The September full moon sees the arrival of the Moon Viewing Festival, celebrated in many East Asian countries including Japan, in which it is traditional to enjoy the beautiful moon whilst eating white mochi (rice cakes). 🎑

If this has been your main message, I hope you know that without a doubt you are a Lightworker of sort. You have this ‘supernatural ability’ to transmute some negative karma in this world. I think that’s exactly why you chose to be born in tough situations and upbringing, all so that you could exercise your Lightwork on those types of situations. The ripple effect will be felt by all inhabiting Planet Earth, you know😊

That said, this FM in Leo would love to just say that the hard part of your Lightworker training is over. All that needed doing and seeing is seen and done. About the Calendar Wheel

The image on this post is the calendar I made for 2025, based on my location in Boorloo (so-called Perth, Western Australia), on Wadjuk Noongar boodjar.

Depending where in the world you're from, you might also notice some things look a little different than you expect...

The wheel is arranged Southern Hemisphere sunwise. Because the sun skewing towards the equator at midday take it to the north, the sun's path over the course of each day appears to move counter-clockwise (because clocks were made based off northern hemisphere sundials).

The quarter-moon icons seem inverted, because we're viewing the moon from a different vantage point. Southern hemisphere moon phases look like:

Likewise some dates might seem a little off - Astrological events occur at the same instant, regardless of where in the world we are, but how we mark that instant on our calendar will depend on what timezone we're located in (and which side of midnight that timezone places us).

I'm located ~12hrs ahead of the Eastern United States, so a lot of the events above might be the date before for folks in earlier timezones (likewise for folks in Eastern Australia and New Zealand, a handful of events might be the date after if they're in the early a.m.)

Year of the Snake

The past few Lunar New Years we have featured paper-cut designs from our copy of Paper-Cuts in China. This year is the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac calendar, so we present this rather startled-looking snake from Paper-Cuts in China, which features paper cuts of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac as well as birds and plants. Lunar New Year falls on the new moon in late January or early February and is based on the Chinese lunisolar calendar. 

This book, for which we have not identified the year or publisher, has text in both Chinese and English. It notes that in 2002, “China’s paper-cut was listed as a ‘world cultural heritage’ by UNESCO.” The commentary to the paper-cut snake says:

The persons born in the year of the snake … have will and spirit to fight all their lives. They are calm, mysterious, romantic, skillful in dealing with things, adept at flow of words, and dapper in appearance. They don't show off their ability, but persist in shade and are able to forge onward in accordance with their plans. They are friendly to others and able to deal with things in different angles. . . . In addition, they can think twice before they act, well know their ability, and dream of creating a successful career by their own power. Finally, there will be a little setback, but the road to happiness is full of hardships.

Full Moon in Leo, 2025 - Happy Full Moon post wook @POSTWOOK The Full Moon In Leo Is Bringing All The Drama

On your mark, get set, go! Get ready because the messiness of 2025 will begin under the Leo full moon on February 12. Usually, the full moon in Leo brings just enough drama to push us into taking the main character role in our lives — often because we aren't getting enough attention. It can also allow us to step into our creativity and let our artistry take flight. Unfortunately, this time around, the full moon is bringing lots of theatrics, fierceness and intensity our way so passions — and tempers — will reach new, sizzling heights as the moon illuminates and shines brightly upon Earth.

This lunation brings an opposition between the moon in Leo and the sun in Aquarius so we are working with juxtaposing energies. The sun in Aquarius urges us to help others, while the Leo moon wants us to put our immediate needs first. The full moon is guaranteed to bring up questions like, “Is it okay to be selfish?” And the answers are both yes and no. Everything depends on the situation and our emotions. We should always strive to attain greatness but not when it means hurting others in the process. We all want to win; however, it’s ill-advised to do things that are unscrupulous in order to secure the first prize. The Leo moon acts from a place of ego and power and uses both to gain success. As we’ll come to learn, being shady isn’t the best route to riches and acclaim. 

Full moons have a way of bringing truths out in the open; they let us see in the darkness. The full moon's illumination brightens the Earth, helping us understand matters. This is a moment of clarity and enlightenment. The gig will be up quickly if we behave sketchily, thanks to the cosmos — all the more reason to be honest and real, not just with ourselves but also with our peers, family and colleagues. 

Transparency is best, especially since trickster Mercury, currently in Aquarius, and revolutionary Uranus, now in Taurus, are aspecting the full moon and creating a T-square (in this case, a fraught astrological aspect that consists of an opposition between two planets and a square between three planets). What does this mean? We aren't adhering to what others want or expect of us. We are drawing a line in the sand and exposing our shadow selves. Most importantly, we are embracing our desires. 

Remember that Mars is 11 days away from completing its planetary moonwalk. Until February 23, Mars will be retrograde in Cancer, finishing up the backspin that began on December 6. If frustrations come about due to the slow pace of matters and situations, then we should relish the deliberation. There is beauty to be found in quieting the mind and thoughts, as it can lead to meaningful discoveries about yourself and how you treat those you care about. 

Take a step back and think about how you can effectively and productively move forward. Rather than being impulsive and spontaneous, try to figure out the next steps for getting the accolades you want without taking shortcuts. Putting in the effort is vital. Not only does it show maturity and knowledge but it offers you the ability to earn the achievements you are striving for. As always, choose to be kind and to walk on the path that offers the most important thing: respect, gratification and consideration for yourself and others.
