thinking about "you're not a muse, and im no longer a dreamy poet" with Freud/621 as exes setting...

Freud who used to be just a young man writing love songs whose lyrics only he mind, and 621 the childhood sweetheart that inspired more than half of them. but life on Earendel was tough, so Freud signed up to be an AC pilot, and discovered a different kind of love in the embrace of steel and mayhem. he told 621 that he was going away for a while, to earn more money to uplift their life. 621, who believed his words with a smile, was left behind. some time later their family fell into debt and they were sold to be experiment for 4th gen augmentation surgeries. things went as canon up to the Wall mission, where 621 heard Walter mentioned a Freud who was V.I of the Vespers...

the irony of their situation made 621 want to curl up and laugh until their lungs gave out. their first battle, Freud was all fire up and 621 was silent. they understood now, why Freud loved fighting in AC, why Freud would choose this over a naive love story in his youth. in retrospect, they probably should have been angry on the behalf of all ppl Freud had killed and abandoned, for his parents - the first of them, but the truth was, they were only angry because he had done sth they could not forgive: he had left them behind.

it was fascinating, how infatuated Freud was with them now, even more than before, despite having no idea who sat behind the cockpit. and 621 knew, that they finally could have everything they wanted for the lowest price of a mere step in Freud's direction. but the gentle youth that picked flowers to show Freud how happy they were to have met him was no longer there.

and the moment Freud saw 621 step outside of their cockpit for the first time, with slight tremble in his fingers, and a little hope that their eyes would meet, his breath hitch. in that familiar violet eye that he knew in another life, the only thing Freud saw was himself.
