Fear and Hunger Twisted wonderland AU

For this AU I took a look into what moonscorching actually is. Moonscorching a simple explanation is that it transforms a contestant into a representation of their worst qualities and fears. Combining this idea with the concept of overblotting where a person is transformed based on the build-up of magic blot and negative emotions over a significant amount of time I present  the twisted wonderland fear and hunger AU

Following the contestant rules there are only 14 students that are involved in the festival of termina. the 7 overblotters from twst main story and Yuu are the playable cast while the remaining 6 are the non-playable contestants. Yuu functions as a perspective character in this scenario and their actions would be that of the player of fear and hunger. All other contestants go through their own actions throughout the 3-day cycle Yuu can recruit teammates and try and make their way out of Prehevil. 

For the overblotting cast their moonschorched forms are based on the design elements and the backstory that we learn from their overblotted forms. Designing each element with the themes of fear and hunger and the knowledge of the twst cast I plan to envision a design for our 7 cast members.  ( note all cast members will be human in this au and non human characters ex. leona will lack non human features and abilities)

Riddle  ( nososphobia)

Taking after his mother's wishes a 22 year old riddle is a school educated doctor. Acting as a war medic outside of the battlefield, he is on the train back to his hometown after an angry letter from his mother. 

Leona  ( zoophobia)

 The son of a wealthy and influential businessman,Leona set off in search of a purpose outside of his family's cruel leadership. Now 33 he has spent years traveling to find a purpose outside of destruction. Running from his past that threatens to catch up to him he boards the train. 

Azul  ( teratophobia)

A corrupt and money-hungry 26-year-old mafia man azul has lived a life dedicated to the ideals of the family leader. Despite growing tensions and the familys growing interest in the occult azul boards the train on a mission to track down the hier of a wealthy businessman associated with the family. 

Jamil  ( Rhabdophobia) 

A man on the run Jamil is a 27-year-old ex-servant of a powerful silk trading family. Escaping after an altercation with the heir he finds himself on the run from his past armed with his familys occult knowledge and his experiences as a bodyguard he boards the train in an attempt to find a new life

Vil  ( erotophobia)

Growing up in the church of Sylvian his family have spent years priming vil to be the most beautiful man as to gain Sylvian’s favor. Now 27 after withstanding cruel rituals vil is betrayed when his beloved chooses another.  Running off in a jealous rage vil finds himself on the train 

Idia  ( Phantasmophobia)

Devastated after the death of his younger brother a young idia devotes himself to finding a way to revive his younger brother. Now 29 his pursuits lead him to a train in hopes that the church of Allmer will have answers  

Malleus ( Rhabdophobia) 

 After the death of his parents, a young malleus was raised by an old man. after getting injured in the war his father falls deathly ill. Now a 27-year-old botanist malleus boards a train in search of a cure

Pt 1 ( yuu ) ( beginning of game)

Vampire Malleus that sees you trembling through the ruins outside his territory. A shaky hand holding onto a heavy flashlight and the other wrapped tightly around your midriff. A pathetic form of protection, he muses.

Mortals tend to steer clear from his area. He wasn’t even sure when was the last time he saw one. Surely by your indecent way of dress, it's been quite a long time. Ah, how time flies when you're a creature of the night.

Vampire Malleus that follows you throughout the night. Always stepping out of sight everytime you squeak and flash your light in his direction. He could see the tiny tears pricking at your glossy eyes. Throughout his years, he’s seen fear plastered across the face of many and yet, something about yours has his dead heart thrumming in his cold chest. Maybe it’s your eyes, big and shaky, or your trembling lips that squeaks like a little mouse. Or perhaps, it's because you're just so pathetically human that it lights up his curiosity.

Faintly he could hear the sounds of other humans approaching the area. And suddenly, your fear has disappeared into relief. And Malleus’ serene smile twitches. His fun is over and soon you��ll disappear beyond his reach. It can’t be helped, Malleus sighs. For as fleeting as you were, you sure were entertaining.

And yet as your voice met your friends and you turned to face them, your foot slipped and you came tumbling down. Yelping as jagged rock embedded itself into your palms and exposed knees. You hissed in pain as you examined the blood that began to leak out your poor cuts, dripping and collecting into a puddle down below.

And just like that the smell of your blood has awoken the beast.

The moment your friends made it up the hill they fell down wordlessly. It didn’t even click in your brain what had happened. Eyes couldn’t even follow the large black blurr that seemingly flew down from the sky and picked off your friends one by one. Leaving them not a second for them to scream, not a second for them to feel an ounce of fear.

Shakely you called out for them. No response came, just the sway of the wind. Fear mounted you to your spot. You couldn’t see anything, couldn’t hear anything and the smell of blood, thick and metallic clung to your nose.

And that smell only became more apparent as a pair of sharp slender pale hands reached for you from the darkness. Twisting your head from the lifeless bodies of your friends to the glowing red eyes of a beast. Domineering, lustful. The beast gazed down at you with such ferocity, you were sure you were about to pass. Those hands, stained with the blood of your friends, trailed down to your bloodied hand and lifted it up to its mouth.

A forked tongue slithered from its mouth and slid across your open wound. And just like that, its eyes rolled back and closed, and it visibly shivered. Disgust thick with fear coated your throat at its reaction and your body fought to move. And yet, it’s hold on your wrist turned harsh, knife-like nails digging into the delicate skin of your wrist and you stilled.

Its eyes opened into narrowed slits. Lips parting into a pleased smirk, allowing you to see its long, sharp teeth. And with a voice, deep and smooth and seemingly human, it purred.

No, I just want a twst au where the first years decide to test how far they can go with insanity with how many horrors they deal with in one school year. Yuu included.

Yuu should act like the leader they were meant to be instead of being just a background piece.

Ace may not have a UM of his own and constantly gets underestimated, but knows how to put his wits and misdirection to good use.

Deuce may be slow when it comes to learning new things and is trying his best to be an honor student to make his mom proud... But he now knows that an honor student doesn't have some other qualities of his and that it can help him in more ways than one.

Jack may be a person who follows his principles well, but maybe, a little bit of personal justice wouldn't hurt. Especially when it comes to his pack.

Epel isn't going back to his old days, he swears! Even if it is tempting sometimes. But ever since he finally started to understand what Vil meant after that conversation with Deuce from VDC, as well as some tips from Yuu... Playing the "poison apple" is quite satisfying once he got used to self-restraint.

Ortho might act optimistic and innocent most of the time because his personality was set to be that of a child, but he's also... very overprotective of those he considers family. He's constantly learning more about the world around him, which also extends to the people he surrounds himself with! So, he shouldn't have much of a problem with... terminating threats to those he cares about. The line between right and wrong is blurry in NRC, after all!

Of course, there's nothing like murder or anything like that!... But the psychological damage/reputation/injuries are enough to scar anyone who goes far enough to do anything funny is quite... unfortunate.

The best-case scenario is when you get spooked enough as a warning! But I don't recommend trying again though. :D

You don't want to be one of the people who are foolish enough to do the same despite having a clear mind, unlike those who Overblotted, do you?

Ok but how did ace even get a girlfriend in the first place? Did she confess and he just went along with it? Did he think having a girlfriend would make him seem cooler? Was it a dare or something? Cause for someone like ace to just go ghost on her and not have an actual talk, kind of makes me feel like these two were not friends before they were partners.

So then, fast forward to nrc, ace is trying so hard to lose the feelings he has for his best friend. Because that's all they are: friends, homies, if you (duece) will. Yuu has the cream of the crop to pick from, he's kind of at a disadvantage here.

Plus, whose to say their entire dynamic won't change the second they get together? He doesn't want to get bored and start to hate one of his dearest friends by proxy, so might as well just play it safe and suffer a little than take that risk and the both of you suffer a lot 🤷‍♂️.

Meanwhile yuu, who still has their old phone/mp3 player, has been playing Jenny by Studiokillers on repeat. Lying in their bed, just down horrendous for this absolute ball of boyish mischief. How dare he, honestly?

Well. At least he gives them a lot of openings to flirt with him?

*disclaimer, I was home schooled so my actual knowledge about middle school dating is beyond non-existent so take what I say with a grain of salt

The information we get about Ace's girlfriend comes from his suitor suit vignette and he does not mention how they actually got together, just some of the things that they did and how boring Ace thought all of them were. And I agree! The way they broke up does not make it sound like they were friends before dating, though they could have been casual acquaintances. The way Ace likes to goof around makes me think he was probably pretty popular, and had a lot of those types of relationships. His description of the relationship makes me think he probably went out with her because he thought she was cute and that it would be fun to have a girlfriend, but didn't actually stop to think about who she was as a person or what dating actually means. And hey, he was in middle school. He was going to be a bit stupid about those sort of things. The experience seems to have made him think a lot about what he wants in a partner, and we know from Ortho he was telling the truth when he's forced to spell it out:

His voice lines flesh out what he wants a bit more; he says he thinks it's important to find someone you have fun with and that he wants to get married later in life. So Ace knows what he wants... he just gets really embarrassed when called out on it and refuses to talk honestly about his feelings (though he kind of does that in general hehe)

So flashing forward to NRC. Ace knows what he wants and Yuu is such a perfect fit it hurts. Best friends to lovers is a popular trope in fiction sure, but in real life? At a school? Yeah right, Ace still has to see them every day if they break up, and not to mention... I feel like Ace, Deuce, Grim, and Yuu sort of fell into their dynamic almost immediately after the mine adventure and didn't ever stop to think about it because of how natural the friendship felt. And Ace knows if things end badly he's losing the whole squad, so yeah. Better to just swallow this and stay where he is. He's still in school! He doesn't need to think about dating! He's got a housewarden to surpass, upperclassmen he admires, and a bunch of idiots to take care of. He can worry about dating later. Besides, these feelings will go away after graduation he's delusional sure of it!!!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch Ramshackle Yuu is literally in a living hell. Maybe they're a bit more emotionally mature than Ace and they just know this could work out but THEY CAN'T TELL IF HE LIKES THEM BACK BECAUSE HE KEEPS GETTING SHY AND MAKING JOKES FML!!!! But like he also lets them steal his gym shirt :ccc and he gets pouty when someone else makes an offer :ccc and really smug when Yuu says no ccc: so like maaaybe? Or maybe not and this meaningless flirting is all they'll ever have and they just. Try to be ok with it and they sort of hate themselves for it.

Silver need not know the iron-laced thoughts of his handler as Lilia hovers over him with features carved from stone and tastes the acrid nature of his own traitorous mind on his tongue. He does not need to know that his handler is well steeped in the knowledge of how Silver has suffered at the cruel and callous hands of many over the course of agonizing centuries, and that his handler all the same finds himself grateful to the cursed circumstances that have brought them together.

Silver does not need to know the depths of the madness his general teeters on the edge of, an abyss called love that croons and calls and welcomes the devouring of his heart with baby soft teeth— he does not need to know that Lilia finds himself with a curious apathy at how willing he is to flout generations of hate, just to whisper the words my child, my son and watch the boy buckle under the sheer weight of their meaning.

Silver does not need to know, because Lilia cannot survive the inevitable rejection, the repulsion and horror that will undoubtedly spark into existence on the child's solemn face. How could he hope for any other response, when his very desires make clear that he wishes to breathe new life into a role that was so violently stripped and crushed from the boy in the most ruthless of ways? How could he have any right to know the word father, to dream of it as if it could hold more precious weight than the title of general, when it was his very kind who destroyed the boy's family and cursed them all into objectified servitude?

(An even worse confession; he has not dared to discover what has become of the boy's true father, if the jewel of his soul still persists in another's sword, or if it has shattered long ago, with neither wife nor son at his side.)

He has no right, no claim but that mark of which gleams upon the back of the boy's neck, a mark that exists only in vicious thanks to the curse binding Silver to this world. He has no right, and yet still he stands vigilant over the boy until he wakes from his healing stasis— guarding the sword thrust so deeply into his own frozen chest that Lilia no longer knows how to breathe properly without it.

Azul time !!

Azul Ashengrotto, The mafia man, he is dressed in a business suit with his hair half-gelled back . His cane can double as a weapon in combat if attacked by the player.

Greed

Azul grew up in a small coastal town. Othered from his peers, Azul struggled to find a place where he belonged. That was until he was approached by The Family. They offered him power, protection, and comradery. Everything that he lacked. Over the years he amassed great wealth and power. But it wasn't enough. As his wealth grew he desired more and more now that he had everything he lacked. The family was demanding, however. Azuls life was constantly filled with tasks given to him by the family. His time with them forced him to do things he never would have wanted to do. The family cultivated his talents and he became a successful businessman. As such he was also tasked with handling Other business endeavors for the family. His main and longest-running task was securing trade and business relations with the Kingscholar family. 

It had been going well until their younger son found out about Azul's little business deal with the Kingscholars. The younger son fled and Azul thought that his job was done but when he reported back to the head of the family he was furious. Since that day azul has been tasked with tracking down the son to “ repay the family for their kindness” and “ take care” of him. The family held everything over his head. His wealth, his life, his family, everything. Everything the family gave him was to be slowly stripped away from him till he took care of the son. It had been years but finally he was able to get a lead on where the kingscholar son was heading towards. He and his associate boarded the train headed to Prehivil following in his footsteps. 

Greed is a manifestation of Azul’s desires and what he fears he has become due to his time with the mafia.  A warped hunching form , Greed grasps at whatever is left of the life he has built for himself. 

Greeds design is inspired by Azul’s overblot form in the sense of his form being an 8 limbed hand octopus. It holds up Azul’s head like a prized pearl . Azul's backstory and moonschorching was loosely inspired by Caligura and Marcoh .  similarly azul will ambush the player if they play as leona and demand answers and attack him . 

Unlike Caligura, Azul will not ambush any other character .  

Azul will moonschorch on the afternoon of day 2 if the player fails to intervene with an interaction between azul and leona. 

Greed can be found creeping around the sewers crawling towards its next victim . 

In combat, Greed has a coin flip grappling mechanic where if the player fails the coin flip a Chagunar head grasp will occur causing an instantaneous game over. Wielding no weapon initially greed attacks with non-slashing attacks first. he carries a unique ability to steal items and weapons during combat and render your party defenseless If not defeated after 3 turns of combat greed will find a trident amongst the filth and can now attack with slashing damage that inflicts an infection. However, once the trident is wielded it will no longer be able to use the coin flip grasp insta kill.  To balance the fight greed can be easily blinded and has a lower hp. 

 If Greed isn't killed before day 3 and Leona was prevented from moonschorching  or isn't within your party, greed will track down and kill leona before tracking down the player. If Leona is within the party and greed manifests but isn't killed before night day 3  then Greed will track down and encounter the player.  

If the player defeats greed they will have to search the body to retrieve any stolen items. If the body is not searched before it is decapitated the player will be unable to retrieve the items. Once the head of greed is decapitated the body will dissolve into seafoam and disappear.

We know that Shanks loves Buggy, but what does Buggy think of Shanks?

Young Buggy thinks he's fun to hang around with even when they tend to argue about the dumbest stuff. He'd never admit this to anyone but he admires Shanks' charisma and strength.

Since there's no one piece and he's not raised together with Shanks and doesn't have such a close relationship with Roger and the crew here, there is no goal for Buggy to give up on, and there's no bitter feelings caused by the "betrayal" Shanks did by not going for the goal Buggy gave up on

Some of the relationship dynamics and personalities change here in wonderland au because the factors that made them like that in the animanga aren't here to affect them

Present Buggy doesn't remember Shanks though so he just thinks the Queen is weirdly sticky and likes to give out presents for no reason, not that he's complaining 😌

Your Dad arriving? Here’s the thing: even if your dad is a knight, he’s still human. The problem for all of them is that while your father isn’t an actual threat to them in any way shape of form, he IS a threat to the family unit they’re trying to build with you. THAT is a problem.

And I will say, it is absolutely mood dependant. If you have done something recently to upset Lilia, or if you aren’t aware of you father’s arrival, then he will simply be dealt with immediately. Disposing of him when he has newly arrived and doesn’t know what kind of world he’s walking into will make their lives easier.

But if you’re aware of his arrival and you’ve not upset them too badly, well, then there’s room to manoeuvre. So, they’ll simply teleport him a nation far away from The Valley of Thorns, he can play the role of the valiant knight coming to your rescue if he pleases, and for you, the threat of his death is held over you if you begin to misbehave. They keep track of him of course, they can’t have him getting too close to the castle and giving you founded hope of escape. So if he gets close, he’ll be teleported again.

And when it comes down to it, if he is too much of a nuisance or if you finally break, he’ll simply be disposed of. Or if you do become to unruly, his head shall be presented to you, reminded that this is your fault no matter your reaction. The head simply thrown into a fire to devour what’s left of him.

For the "activation phrase/word" and the names of the Zanpakuto, I usually leave the name of the Unique Magic in one of them. In Cater's case "Split Card" is the Shikai phrase.

Cater's power allows him to MULTIPLY the number of blows he inflicts on the enemy depending on the steps he takes until he gets closer. Suppose you are 5 steps away from him… 5 hits together… suppose you are 20 steps away from him… 20 Hits.

You could run away [ but keep adding hits if he grabs you ] or stay close and take 1 or dodge.

Cater's Zanpakuto is about the relationship between trying to break/dividing something you can't break [the myth of the unbreakable diamond] so the more hits... more chance. The Bankai... will also have to do with that...

Do overblots equate hollows in this au?

Hollow and Overblot are apparently equivalent and born the same way (negative energy), but for some reason- the shinigamis are not naturally immune to these Overblots... as are those with Hollows (?).

The Overblots of the students are more related to the Vizard (Shinigamis that have- generated Hollow powers). So this Au is going to deal with why this happens and who is causing it. Not Aizen.

They're both here causing chaos.
