I understand you've explained that it's bad for saratoans to put fake tusks or teeth over their natural teeth, but FateLock's missing tusk made me think - would saratoans ever put something that's obviously fake over their tusks or teeth, especially if they've lost them? Like gold pirate teeth

They'd still consider it kind of fraudulent and shameful if they were longer than they'd really have - but if it's the correct size for their social position it's not necessarily considered bad...

The elders that the current crop of elders grew up with (people who'd be like, almost 400 years old if they were still around) sometimes did that sort of thing but the current group were sub-adults who thought it looked dumb and vain and considered it a kind of rubbing others noses in their social capital. They carried that judgement to the present and anyone with the personality to accentuate their tusks like that now has to deal with FateLock (and similar elders) openly laughing at them in public.

Sometimes young people have made jewelry intended to make a statement about their social system, using materials or designs that imply longer teeth without concealing their real ones but that doesn't so much avoid controversy as create an entirely different one. But in that case, the reactions are the point.

technically, i have 8 exceptional stories left to play, although there are a few early ones that i definitely HAVE played but super dont remember (gun to my head i couldnt tell you what happened in The Persona Engine)

and then after that... idk! maybe ill get into the premium stories that arent technically exceptional stores, but are still fatelocked, like The Brass Grail, which is my favoritest ever

What was PenWell's life partner like?

You get an answer from FateLock because I wanted to draw an answer but Pen wouldn't talk about Reed.

PenWell has always been a very gentle person, to the degree that he was a bit of a doormat in his youth, but going through a lot has given him a bit of a hidden edge that he doesn't like showing people and talking about the loss of his partner is one of the few things that can make it difficult for him to be gracious so he just doesn't go there around most people. One of the ways the elder role can be a little toxic in their culture sometimes.

FateLock never liked Reed since she picked on Pen a lot and Reed was always in her face about it, joey or no joey (Pen always hated that - he insisted no fighting should happen in front of the baby haha)

I... if you know me, you know I don’t cope well with Christmas. Each day I approach with a sense of pretending my holiday cheer and festive mood are real, but alas! It’s not just the time of year, but the time of year for my family. I was certainly in no mood to deal with the massive pile of lacre before the steps that lead up to the Bazaar-Spires, especially considering all my shoveling supplies were waiting--mocking me--from beyond that heap.

I can’t say much else of what happened next. I believe... it came into the house afterward to shake off the chill, we talked for a bit, but then after that I must have... fainted? The sore spot on the back of my head certainly seems so, anyway. The Master was gone by that point, so I don’t know how long I was out.

I’m anticipating this adventure is far from over though. It must have got some sort of payment for clearing the lacre.

I don't like how the ONLY black spouse in the entire game is Amelia Whitlock and she's not only fatelocked but barely a character

yeaaaaa. its not.... great. I also think Captain Amelia is supposed to be the same one from skies? So. She's also killed off in another game. ( i mean i think shes at least expanded on a little more there at least). but uh. yea.

not even just in the romance section, Fallen London is pretty lacking in expanded on black characters in general. I had been hopeful for evolutions inclusion of a black male lead but that had... some questionable choices with its plot that i dont think considered its protagonist.

and before any spouting of historical accuracy goes on a) its a fantasy game, and b) there were black people in victorian era England. i have done research on this for my own ocs backstory

i know it takes effort and consideration to write a character from an origin you're not (something i keep in mind myself with my ocs), and FBG does not have the best track record with that, but it is certainly Noticiable.
