Hustle

I got up and got my hustle on this morning. The large animal vet was scheduled to 9:00 to give Hero and Missile their annual checkup and shots. I got dogs and cats taken care of, a little kitchen tidying done, and a new batch of apples in the dehydrator. Then I went out to round up horses; much like cats, they can tell when a vet visit is imminent and attempt to disappear. They were grazing at the far end of the large pasture, but came with me back to the barn with no difficulty. I closed the gate between the pastures. They are trapped!

Nine came and went. Nine-thirty. Who knows when the vet will actually arrive. I know they deal with some very unpredictable scheduling and horrific emergencies, but it's always a little frustrating waiting and w-a-i-t-i-n-g. One year the office called to push the appointment back til afternoon, then again until evening. The vet didn't actually arrive until dusk, exhausted, rushed, and short-tempered.

I hope that doesn't happen today. I have things I want to get done . . some of which I can do while I'm stuck in wait-mode and some I cannot.
