DC Prompt #1
In this au, Robin doesn't appear until after Batman and Superman have met each other.
And looking at how...bright Robin is there are 3 theories:
Batman is just some guy. He respects Superman and thus, adopted a kid that embodied his optimism
Batman isn't human and he just liked Superman so much he poofed Robin into existence.
Robin is made from a piece of Superman and Batman. In hopes of brightening Gotham or something???
Inspired by this thread.

Hey, um… with the whole “Bluejay!Jason” concept… has anybody ever considered it as an Inkheart reference instead of just a play off his name?
Follow me here, and sorry in advance, this turned into a ramble.
In the second book of the Inkheart trilogy, Inkspell, one of the main protagonists adopts a Robin Hood-esque approach to defeating the tyrant king, and adopts the name of ‘The Bluejay’ from famous folk legends and songs written by a beloved poet and often sung by travelling minstrels. He’s -Inkspell spoilers ahead, though this book is unironically older than I am- known for toppling said tyrant’s throne through the binding of a magic book (a recurring theme throughout the series, if you’ve never read it, which you should). He’s a champion among the Motley Folk, who were that world’s equivalent to a travelling circus and also regularly aid him in his quest to topple the Adderhead (the tyrant king mentioned above), and sought to help the poor and downtrodden. The Bluejay is aided and abetted by his family and friends, which include a shapeshifting wife, a daughter with the ability to make anything she reads come true, a fire-dancer who can speak to the flames, and a knife-throwing 'circus' prince with a black bear companion. (They're not called the Motley Folk for no reason, people!)
Now, consider for a moment: Little Jason Todd, in the local library, absolutely devouring the Inkheart series. It's everything a little kid could dream of in a fantasy book! And there's three of these fat books, what more could you possibly want? And he has an excuse to sit in a warm, safe building for a few hours.
Now imagine, Inkspell becomes his comfort book. Of course it does- every kid had one, and I can't imagine an orphan who grew up alone on the streets of Gotham picking anything other than a story about a strange man helping the opressed and downtrodden in a land he grows to call his own with the help of his family- and The Bluejay is an excellent father to his daughter, too, of course Jason pictured himself as part of that family, as whisked away into that world.
And of course, the rest of the series is wonderful too -Inkheart is where it all began, after all, and Inkdeath is the final triumph over evil!-, but Inkspell is a story about becoming. About learning to be more than you were born as- after all, if Mo the simple bookbinder could become the hero The Bluejay, what could Jason the street orphan become?
Maybe, instead of discovering this book in a library, he found it in the trash. And maybe he wondered, as he read it, why anyone would ever want to throw away the tale of Mo the Blujay, of Meggie the Silvertongue, of Resa the brave swift, of Dustfinger the loyal Fire-Dancer? (And maybe the last one took a while to get there, but he did get there! Eventually! And maybe Jason can understand why it took Dustfinger so long to truly come to trust someone again, because trust is a terribly dangerous thing to give to someone, because you can never really know what they'll do with it.) Maybe he read it through without knowing anything about Capricorn or The Shadow or why they feared the man named Basta, because they hadn't thrown away the first book, only the second. Maybe he wept for the death of Dustfinger, at the very end, because he didn't know that Death wouldn't keep him, because they hadn't thrown away the third book.
Maybe Inkspell found its place among his most treasured possessions. Maybe, when he met Batman and Bruce Wayne in one night and his life changed forever, Inkspell came with him, with its familiar story and characters and world and sorrows.
Maybe one of the first things Bruce did, upon seeing Jason reading that same battered old paperback, was to order Inkheart and Inkdeath and leave them in his room. Maybe that was when Jason started to realize that he wasn't going to leave forever.
(Maybe Jason and Dick would play Motley Folk together, because Dick was in the circus and could most certainly throw knives, even if it gave Bruce a heart attack every time he saw it.)
And maybe, after he could no longer have Robin, he remembered that old paperback book, that old story and that old world, and he thought of a new name for himself.
Bluejay, he thought, as he picked up the book that had been his constant companion for so many years. I'll be The Bluejay.
(I don't really know what this is. I saw some Bluejay!Jason art the other day and just started thinking of the Inkheart trilogy and the fact that Jason would absolutely have read it and probably loved it. And then it spiralled.)

In the DC Universe, there are ten known emotional energies that can be channeled into a power source for Lantern Rings. The wielder of these rings are assembled into Corps, and come into conflict with one another often. This is a list of all the currently known energies and their associated Corp.
Red: the energy of rage. From righteous fury, to mindless bloodlust, all fall under the red light of rage. The Red Lanterns are led by Atrocitus, and based on the hellish world of Ysmault. Weilders of the red light boast incredible strength, and a breath weapon that can break most other constructs.
Orange: the energy of greed. The most secretive and lonely Corp, the only member is the insane Larfleeze. The orange lantern can create constructs of any foe the ring has defeated, and there have been many who have fallen to it.
Yellow: the energy of fear. Those who join the yellow Sinestro Corp are masters of sewing fear into those around them, bringing those fears to life with their constructs. The Sinestro Corp is, of course, led by Sinestro, and based out of the planet Qward in the antimatter universe.
Green: the energy of willpower. The most well-known of all the Corps, the green lantern insignia is a symbol for good across the galaxy. They are also among the most numerous, boasting numbers in the thousands. The Corp is led by the Guardians from the planet Oa, and is the most well documented of the colors here.
Blue: the energy of hope. One of the smaller Corps, but by no means weak. The Blue Lanterns are an oddity in that they cannot create energy constructs like the others, but this is made up for by multiplying the strength of nearby Green Lanterns, and by depowering nearby Red Lanterns. They are led by former guardians Ganthet and Sayd, and are based on the planet Odym.
Indigo: the energy of compassion. Unlike other Corps, the members do not wear the indigo lantern rings. In fact, they are not considered a Corp: the indigo tribe is a group of wanderers on the planet Nok, who use their lantern rings as the bindings for the galaxy's greatest sociopaths to rehabilitate them.
Violet: the energy of love. The Star Sapphire Corp used to be a single vessel for a powerful parasitic crystal, but has since grown to an elite group of female warriors. To become a Star Sapphire, one must have loved another and have that love spurned. The Corp is based on Zameron, it's crystals altered by the Zamerons to give lantern powers to its wielder.
White: the energy of life. The White Light is a rare occurrence, embodying the entire emotional spectrum, and only appears in times of great need. The power of a White Lantern is far greater than any other Lantern, but comes at a cost; the White Light has a will of its own, and will subjugate the personality of its bearer until it's will is fulfilled.
Black: the energy of death. During the Sinestro war, the Guardians lifted the life lock on the green lantern rings, allowing them to kill their opponents. This fulfilled the an ancient prophecy, and allowed the Black Lantern Ring to emerge from the Green Lantern Power Battery on Oa. It found its host in the recently deceased William Hand, who began raising an army of Black Lantern Zombies to feast on the emotions of the living.
Ultraviolet: the energy of the unseen emotions. The Ultraviolet Lantern Corp is the hand of Umbrax, a sentient star that possesses and controls all members of the Corp (save a few notable exceptions). It feeds off the unseen emotions, the surpressed and hidden emotions in the day-to-day that all life exhibits.

I have always looked at posts about Batfam and I have always felt intrigued. But I also don't know how to consume that piece of media? That has eluded me for ages... Is it a comic? Is it a TV Show? Movie? I know about Batman, but how do I know more about Batfam?
i'm so honored i get to share this with you.
so, batman, as you know, is a media franchise that falls under the dc comics umbrella, and there are many types of media included within this franchise! you will find the batfam scattered through these different mediums.
batman started as a comic, and the comics are (for the most part!) where you will find bruce wayne and his batkids. he has several, but the main ones are dick (robin #1 / nightwing), jason (robin #2 / red hood), tim drake (robin #3 / red robin), stephanie (robin #4 / spoiler) damian (robin #5, the only one of the kids who is actually bruce's blood-related child), cass (black bat), aaaaand duke (the signal). i feel like i am forgetting someone. but that's okay, moving on!
now, getting into comics is kind of like going fishing. you throw a line in a very deep, very wide body of water and see what happens next. it can feel intimidating because there are decades worth of comics to sort through, but i can absolutely promise you there is a comic out there that'll interest you, you just have to find it.
if it's just the batfam you're interested in, i'd be remiss if i did not mention wayne family adventures. wfa is a slice of life webtoon comic. it's controversial in some of the more... passionate... parts of the fandom because people think it's dumb or ooc but i (girl who loves Characters) think it's lovely and it fills me with the warm and fuzzies.
so, those are the comics and that's where you'll find most of the good stuff.
there are very few movies or shows that show bruce and his kids, or even just his kids, which has got to be my BIGGEST disappointment. but there are some!
titans - this is a tv show about dick (nightwing) and the development of the teen titans (group of teen superheroes that fight crime) but jason makes an appearance in the later season(s)
lego batman - yeah, i know but it features bruce and dick existing together and is also quite charming, on account of them being legos, so do with that what you will.
the live action dceu movies, specifically batman vs superman, show a grittier version of batman / bruce wayne. robin is not in that film / those films, but that's because it's implied that robin is dead / was killed. in zack snyder's vision for the film / film series, robin was killed by joker (same as jason was, though i don't know if he intended for that robin to be jason), but that never made it to the big screen. still, a griefstricken and depressed bruce wayne living under the weight of his son's death even though we never see it and it's never talked about is VERY crunchy to me.
batman: under the red hood - the movie version of the under the (red) hood comics. honestly? these are my favorite fucking comics of all time. i read them all in one afternoon some years ago and they've stayed with me. the movie is a pretty faithful "adaptation" so if you want to skip the comics and jump straight to the film, you can do that too! i will not judge. the plot is about jason, who died, and came back... wrong, one could say. honestly, though, i cannot recommend the comics enough. batman: death in the family is considered this film's "spiritual successor."
dynamic duo is an animated movie that's coming out in 2028 apart of james gunn's universe. it's about dick and jason and the development of their relationship and i reacted very normally to that news, i think :) (<- girl who hyperventilated)
hmm, that's all i can think of off the top of my head! hope this helps <333

I know there are a lot of fanfics about Jason being caught by the Justice League and usually getting bailed out by the batfam, but imagine if it was Brucie Wayne bailing him out:
In the JL interrogation room:
Superman: Alright, Red Hood, who is your supplier helping you move drugs in Star City?
Red Hood, who was undercover investigating a drug ring and got caught in a JL bust and sesnses an opportunity to mess with Batman: Look, I know you guys aren't cops, but can I get at least get one phone call?
Justice league looking skeptical?
Red Hood: You can even monitor it.
Green Arrow: Fine one phone call, but it will be monitored.
Hands Hood a phone
Red Hood: Hey Dad, I got stopped by the Justice League. Could you come bail me out? Really, okay, see you soon. Okay, my Dad said that he would bail me, so could we go over to the teleporters?
Green Arrow: Okay, firstly, we aren't cops, you can't just post bail and get out. Secondly, how would this "Dad" get up here?
Red Hood: You'll see.
Minutes later, Brucie Wayne walks in with a trail of Heroes, trying to explain why he cannot be at the Watchtower.
Superman: Mr. Wayne what are you doing here and how did you get here?
Bruce laying the Brucie persona on thick: Well as one of the Justice League's biggest doners and tech suppliers I have access to the teleporters, as for why I'm here it's to bail out my son. Hi Jaylad!
Red Hood fully expecting Batman: What?
Green Arrow remembering his friend's grief over loosing Jason: Ummmm, Mr. Wayne this is the Red Hood. You know "Bag full of severed heads" Red Hood.
Brucie: Yes, I know he's had some issues with his big feelings, but he's still my sweet little boy.
Superman: And you think that he's your late son Jason Todd?
Brucie: Yes, Batman even confirmed it was him. It turns out that after he died, he was brought back by an organization that planned on using him as a weapon against Batman. But he left them and has been working to improve Crime Alley, I'm so proud of him.
Green Arrow: We caught him in Star City with Drug runners.
Brucie: I'm sure he has a good explanation, don’t you Jaylad?
Red Hood still reeling from Bruce showing up as Brucie and not Batman: I was undercover?
Brucie: See perfectly reasonable, now can I please have my baby boy back? Alfred will be so upset if he's not home for dinner.
Surprisingly, this works , the Justice League is to stunned by this revelation and later confirm this with Batman that yes, the notorious Red Hood is the son of Billionaire, philanthropist airhead Brucie Wayne. Jason, meanwhile, has suffered a huge blow to his cred in the Hero community because of the association with Brucie instead of the Batfam. The bat siblings do not let this go anytime soon.

DC Prompt #3
The first pair of wings, the ones that were supposed to be bits in fabric, feathers and metal--was shot.
And Robin was crying and bleeding from the wing .
Despite himself, Batman looked for where the joints and harness would meet, he saw nothing.
He felt nothing.
The wings were a part of Robin.
He rushed back to the cave only for Robin stop crying and start deatching his wings himself.
And they come off, as intended.
Like the night's events hadn't happened.
But they had.
(Robin's suit was still bloody with his own blood.)
And everytime Batman and Robin patrol, their wings are a part of them. Feeling like they've always been there.
Inspired by Loading and Aspect Ratio and The little lost bat, or: How Damian Got His Wings.

At some point "fanfic can be as good as professional writing" became "fanfic should be as good as professional writing" and that's caused major damage to fandom spaces.

Baby Dick Grayson as Robin meets the League and they're all gobsmacked at how Batman, who has an emotional range that goes from cynical wet blanket to unstoppable force of nature, has such a seemingly normal and happy kid.
"He must get it from his mom." Green Lantern said, trying to build some kind of rapport. "She approve of you running around beating up bad guys, little man?"
"My mom is dead," Dick replied and Green Lantern paled.
"Oh that's uh--"
"It happened right in front of us." Dick continued conversationally, gesturing to himself and Bruce.
The rest of the League start frantically signalling to Hal without using words, abort! Abort!

Honestly I think it’s so funny that in the Marvel universe, when someone’s really smart, they have like eight to twelve doctorates and they finished high school at age twelve.
And then over in the DC universe it’s like. This is Tim Drake. He’s a genius. He keeps cloning his loved ones. He dropped out of highschool. Over there is Barry Allen. He can reverse engineer a spaceship in less than a minute. He is such a good chemist he’s still going to be known as the best chemist in 4,000 years. He has a bachelor’s degree.

i love random damian skills that never get brought back they're so funny
Like yeah, of course this ten year old can mimic voices of teenagers and fully grown adults enough to trick THE FUCKING BATMANS SECURITY SYSTEM IN HIS MOST SECURE BASE. of course he can do that
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also of course he can survive being stabbed in a vital organ. yeah. he can just...move it aside from the knife that he was stabbed with and heal fully while he sleeps. just move HIS LIVER out the way. I'm sure tim would appreciate that skill for his spleen but whatever.
