This was eating away at me big time for a night a while ago and then I kinda forgot about it but now I remember how much it bothers me, so here goes:

Does anybody know the source for "Max Legman" and "Louie Walters" being Legs and Louie's full names?

I did some deep digging by looking through the editing history of Legs' fandom wiki page and found that the first time the name Max Legman was added to the page was in August of 2019 — I tried checking through episodes and comics from roughly around that time or earlier but came out of it empty-handed after literal HOURS of searching, so out of frustration I decided to just leave it there. I even contacted the dead account that first added the name on Fandom and of course they haven't responded at all.

This is really frustrating because it feels like really important information that ought to be annotated like Johnny's 2 other names ("Giovanni Silencio" being his birth name as revealed in the episode 22 for 30 and "Jonathan Schmallippe" being his legal name in Chief Wiggum's Book On Crime And Punishment) but there's just Nothing in the almost 6 years since Legs was named Max Legman in the wiki despite the constant edits within that time. You'd think a show like Simpsons would have a more thorough and moderated wiki than this, especially when "Max Legman" and "Louie Walters" is accepted by the fandom atleast on Tumblr.

i could go on and on about how much i love wikipedia but ill summarise it real quick.

wikipedia is the ultimate community resource, like genuinely. it relies solely on its community to function, both in terms of information and the website actually being able to run.

i will never forgive teachers for making it seem like a hellscape of misinfo because holy shit they are genuinely so strict on what information can be let onto its pages, i love wikipedia.
