The Amazing Devil truly knocked it out of the park with Fair in terms of love songs i mean its got everything. Domesticity, deep adoration, confessions of love when youre sure no one else can hear, a that's what she said joke, yogurt, genuinely dont think there's a more romantic song on the face of the earth

“You’re not flawed, darling, you’re just a little under-rehearsed.”
is a Top Ten Most Neurodivergent Lyric, for me.

Me, self respecting: I would never be a groupie for some guy in a band I've never met, girls really throw themselves at rockstars and cry and scream to get to meet them? Have posters of them all over their room? How do you fall that in love with some guy who makes music—
Joey Batey from The Amazing Devil: (sings Old Witch Sleep and the Good Man Grace) (sings Inkpot Gods) (sings Rockrose and Thistle) (sings Welly Boots) (sings Fair)
Me, suddenly twirling my hair: obviously that doesn't apply to YOU, pookie, omg stawwwp...

What's everybody's favorite The Amazing Devil lyric? I'll go first:
Didn't the trees tell us their stories?
Yeah, but we--we thought you were mental, you were talking to trees.

“You are a remarkable woman, Virginia Dare. You survived when all around you died. And you did more than survive. You thrived. You lived alone and feral in the heart of the forest. But you were never truly alone.”

I've never quite had the same experience with discovering a song, or a band altogether, as I had with "Drinking song for the socially anxious".
Like, sure, every now and then I find a song I'm obsessed with for like a week then move on to the next one. Not this one though.
Spotify threw it at me in the middle of a "radio" of downright depressing songs ( Someone Somewhere Somehow - Super whatevr, and others like that) that i had been listening to the entire afternoon cause It Be Like That Sometimes.
I usually skip if the intro doesn't match my mood, but that song just instantly hooked me. Madeleine's humming??, Joey's soft guitar, the quiet "what's my note?" followed by a slightly louder guitar strum. Instant mood change.
Not to mention the lyrics, the chorus, the overall energy (Analysis is not my strong suit, as my prev post shows). It's cheesy to say, but it did give insecure me some hope and actually got me to genuinely smile for the first time in like 2 months.
The song holds a very special place in my heart, and it ended up being my top song that year, and top song of my account, if statsfm is to be trusted. The fact that it lead me to TAD as a whole is a huge bonus too.
Their music really is an experience you can't get somewhere else, can you.

"You make me weep when I'm just trying to watch The Office with my yogurt" is so funny and endearing because it's like, here I am being Just a Guy and you have the audacity to exist nearby being All That and somehow I'm supposed to just cope with it.
It's hilarious because if you've been in love you've been there, but also that's exactly how I feel about The Amazing Devil. Like I'm just sitting here being a person and you're wrecking me. You're just casually bringing me to ruin and I can't do anything at all but squish my cat about it.
