As much as I love Abbott Elementary (a whole lot,) I’m not so sure how I feel about the plotline in the latest episode with Barbara and Gregory. I kind of thought the lesson they were gearing towards was “stop trying to fix people, it’s not your job,” or “don’t guilt people for things that aren’t their fault just because you don’t understand,” or “relationships are about mutual respect and it’s okay to accommodate your autistic boyfriend’s boundaries.” But no, Green Eggs and Ham.

I don't think there could ever be a more perfectly succinct example of the difference in progress between wlw and mlm representation than having a whole lesbian pussy eating scene and Destiel-level gaslighting in the same goddamn TV show.

This morning I saw my dad and was like "today's the big day!!!" and he just sighed and was like "you're talking about Arcane, aren't you."
Anyway, it's my sister's Bat Mitzvah.

Okay, I know I'm a bit late but I just watched My Old Ass with my mom and I can't stop thinking about how we have a movie about a girl who thinks she's a lesbian but realizes she's bi/pan without perpetuating the narrative that A: lesbians "just haven't met the right man yet" or B: people who no longer identify as lesbians are traitors to the community and are reinforcing narrative A. She's just a kid who's figuring herself out, and that's okay. It's not all that uncommon but it seems like it's never portrayed for fear of negative stereotypes even though the opposite is shown all the time. People with a similar experience definitely deserve to see that their existance isn't inherently a negative stereotype and they didn't do anything wrong any more than someone who thought they were straight before learning otherwise. It's honestly something I never thought I'd see and it's handled with such grace.

Me, trying to pay attention to a conversation between characters that's probably vital to the plot:
