Before mass leaders seize the power to fit reality to their lies, their propaganda is marked by its extreme contempt for facts as such, for in their opinion fact depends entirely on the power of man who can fabricate it.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story - Fact vs. Fiction
A six-episode Netflix spinoff series called "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" examines the bond between Queen Charlotte and King George III. The show tells the tale of their beginnings and how they united to rule the UK for almost sixty years. Although the show is based on real historical monarchs, it greatly stretches the truth. In this article, we will explore the facts vs. fictions of "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story".
What's Fact and What's Fiction
It's crucial to distinguish the historical aspects of the six-episode Netflix series from the fantasy elements because the show takes many liberties with historical accuracy. Some of the main facts and fictions in "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" are as follows:
Fact:
Queen Charlotte and King George III were real-life historical monarchs who ruled in the UK for nearly sixty years.
The couple had 15 children together, two of whom died from smallpox at young ages.
The show's depiction of Regency-era England is visually stunning.
Fiction:
The show takes extensive liberties with historical accuracy.
The show's depiction of Queen Charlotte's early life and marriage to King George III is largely fictional.
The show's portrayal of Queen Charlotte as a woman of color is not historically accurate.
Accuracy of the Show
While "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" takes many liberties with historical accuracy, it is important to remember that the show is fiction inspired by fact. The show's creator, Shonda Rhimes, has stated that the series is not meant to be a history lesson but rather a romanticized reimagining of Regency-era England. Therefore, viewers should not expect a completely accurate portrayal of Queen Charlotte's life.
Conclusion
"Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" is a captivating romantic drama set in historical periods. However, viewers should keep in mind that the show takes liberties with historical accuracy and should be viewed as fiction inspired by fact. While some aspects of the show are based on real-life historical monarchs, others are largely fictional. Ultimately, whether or not to watch "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" depends on one's personal preferences for romantic dramas set in historical periods.

why am I pulling out of social media? (and it has nothing to do with us-elections!)
GROWING A SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE: HOW IMPORTANT IS IT FOR A LITMAG WRITER? I am sure most of you are on social media and having a ‘Following’. I am on Twitter and Instagram but not on Facebook. Five years ago, when I started out as a ‘litmag writer (aka had my first publication in an international literary magazine), I was told having a social media presence would be a pre-requisite. I wasn’t on…

The Romanticization of Pocahontas
The Romanticization of Pocahontas When it comes to stories, there have been a great number of beautiful ones told. Living in a corrupt world filled with suffering, sorrow, and greed frequently results in humanity’s apparent need for heartfelt creations of art. There is a particular story, however, that stands out in my mind, which I adored as a child, and it still plays a subtle role in my life…

AHHHH SHIT IT'S ME AGAIN?!
HOW DO THEY KEEP TALKING ME INTO THIS apart from the gentle encouragement, steadfast friendship, enthusiastic invitations and constant support, that is
Just kidding! Anyone who's heard me talk about Sandra and Kasey knows how much I love chatting away into the wee hours of the morning with them. So when they asked if I might be willing to help assemble this episode of their Fact Versus Fiction series, of course I was going to say yes!
The ep is all about sexual hygiene, the icky, sticky realities of it, and the way we mostly prefer to sweep it under the rug when it comes to our fic, especially when it includes butt stuff.
In this first episode (because, surprise surprise, we had a lot to say about... well... everything and ended up splitting it into two parts), it's all about hands, mouths, penises, and vaginas (to the tune of 'heads and shoulders, knees and toes', all together now! 🎶)!
No, that's not– Actually, sure, close enough.
Anyway, if you'd like to know to keep them clean and safe, how to get them ready for mashing together, and how to help them (and you) live your best, squeaky clean sex-life, all while enjoying a hearty dose of wtfs, tangents, TMIs, and mortified laughter, check out the episode wherever you prefer to listen to your podcasts and join us in the back seat! See you there!
New Episode Alert!
Welcome to the first Tumblr exclusive new episode post. We're no longer updating our twitter account so it's all you beautiful peeps now ^.^
Anyway, that means I no longer just copy paste my twitter posts here, so bare with me while I find a new format that's both funny & informative.
BUT
What an episode we're starting with.
This week is a brand new Fact vs Fiction episode! With a special guest host as well. @runawaydr3amerao3 joins us as the newly appointed Agent of Filth and Depravity to assist our resident Agent of Chaos and Kink to talk all things sex & hygiene.
Part 1 of Fact Versus Fiction - Love All Your Bits or at least Look After Them is now live!
Watch/Listen here Class reading materials here
Enjoy!

Everything I learn about Rose Wilder Lane makes me more and more aware that she was a hilariously outrageous person who needs a movie made about her immediately.
After leaving Missouri, she moves to California and marries a real-estate guy who once tried to get her to help him con the railroad.
She gets hired at a San Francisco newspaper known for its yellow journalism, where she does things like writing a series of columns featuring the "real-life stories of a police detective" who, in real life, was a high-end jewel thief.
Her first book is a first-person "autobiography" of Charlie Chaplin that she (after a few interviews with Chaplin) completely made up, and that Charlie Chaplin immediately threatened to sue her publisher for.
Her second book is a biography of Jack London, which his wife only reluctantly allowed her to write because Rose presented herself as "someone who had never written for the newspapers before and needs a chance to break into the magazines." This book was also almost entirely fictional, and her publisher also almost got sued over it.
Third biography is the first-ever biography of Herbert Hoover, also a heavily-fictionalized account. (Doesn't seem to have been sued for this one. Steps in the right direction!)
Traveled as a reporter through Europe (to places like Albania and Poland) post-WWI. (If we want to talk about legal things that she did).
Wrote a book based on Laura's late-childhood pioneer experiences while Laura was writing the early books of the Little House series, and did not tell Laura about it. (Laura was ticked off).
Kept trying to insert a story into Laura's memoirs (and Little House on the Prairie) casting Pa as a member of a posse that hunted down the infamous (and never-caught) serial-killing Bender family (despite the fact that this was historically impossible). (It got to the point that Laura herself told this story to the public as an example of "a true story I couldn't out in my children's book." Despite the fact, I say again, that this was historically impossible).
During WWII, endured a minor incident (it involved one cop coming to her house) where the FBI investigated her as a potential communist based on a postcard she sent that was critical of the government. Turned this into a short story that presented herself as the righteously-outraged American citizen fighting against an oppressive government, and used this to whip up a nationwide media campaign against J. Edgar Hoover for spying on American citizens.
Flew to Vietnam as a war reporter when she was in her seventies.
#history is awesome#rose wilder lane#little house#i finally finished pioneer girl perspectives#to think i didn't even want to read the essay about the bender family#i skipped over it and left it til last#cuz i thought it would just rehash the fact vs fiction stuff i've seen covered elsewhere#turns out it was about the history of yellow journalism and provided most of the facts i've listed#(i was today years old when i learned that 'yellow journalism' was short for 'yellow kid journalism')#(and it came from a popular 'yellow kid' cartoon character that hearst and pulitzer both fought over to get into their papers)#also it turns out the bender family was a popular yellow journalism topic (because they'd never been found so people could make stuff up)#usually the stories centered around posses that found and killed them#but my favorite is the story that they made a hot air balloon from a natural gas deposit in a swamp in kansas#and escaped over the gulf of mexico#until their balloon popped and they landed on a passing ship where one of them could make a deathbed confession#history is awesome but the history of fake history is its own special kind of awesome

I kind of love how Zutara has two distinct ship dynamics
dynamic 1: “I will save you from the pirates,” enemies-to-lovers, Zuko is dangerous but sexy, bad boy x good girl, morally grey antihero, Dramione vibes etc
dynamic 2: Zuko is an awkward turtleduck, idiots-to-lovers, pining for your best friend, having each other’s backs, thinking she’s the coolest thing since sliced bread, Percabeth vibes etc
We can argue about which is the correct interpretation until the cows come home, but I love that the possibilities exist in the first place. From s1 to post-series headcanons there are such distinct stages in their relationship, and you can basically pick whichever point that appeals to you and run with it. There’s something for everyone. Yet another reason why they’re the best ship y’all
#In general I think women are shamed for liking the enemies to lovers dynamic bc toxic or whatever#And what I like about ZK is you don’t have to feel guilty for liking the bad boy x good girl because they get way healthier later on#but the belligerent romantic tension remains and that opens up a lot of possibilities for fan interpretation#Not that women should feel guilty for liking what they like in the first place esp in fiction#But fiction that allows you to reconcile what you should like vs what you actually like can be very cathartic#And ofc the fact that Bryke talk about ZK as if only dynamic 1 exists is baffling#I should embrace my destiny as a Bryke anti because really it’s getting out of hand#Zutara#Enemies to lovers#My meta#technically?

explained--The alice munro-joyce carol oates-et al controversy
If you are a writer and not living under a rock, something or the other about the Alice Munro controversy has since reached you. Do you really care about the personal being mixed with the public life of a writer, or if the creative choices are guided and informed by private relationships, or is writing, especially fiction, completely untouched by how the writer has lived their life? These are…

One of two new series I’m introducing for my Instagram account SaritaZoo: Animal Fictions vs Animal Facts.
These will be short infographs intended to clear up some common misunderstandings about certain animals!
Follow SaritaZoo on Instagram for the next posts in the series, covering Electric Eels, Blobfish, Daddy Longlegs, and more!
Btw: I originally meant for this to be just one slide, but then while fact-checking I found out about that dang salamander and I absolutely had to include it. That thing blew my mind. The article I referenced is literally titled “Salamander with a ballistic tongue.”
Diagram from said article below the cut:

one thing the asoiaf/got/hotd fandoms are going to do is completely miss the point of the story being told; the complexities of the characters; the imprisonment of the monarchy, classism, intergenerational trauma, bloodlines, and misogyny.
somehow millions of people love the shows and books and yet, cannot for the life of them be able to figure out why the characters maneuver the way they do. it’s being highlighted again just how much the mark is missed within the fandom based on how alicent and rhaenyra are talked about. sure, have your takes. dislike one, love the other. but the character analysis that follows with the reasoning as to why you feel the way you do about a character (especially the female characters) seems to sometimes lack the actual context that is given.
look at how women are treated. look at the ages of the characters. look at how everyone is just a pawn in someone’s game. look at the relationships amongst the families. look at how literally a fucking title and iron throne can control someone’s values because that’s what they’ve been taught is priority.
once again: nothing wrong with having different perspectives on the characters, but for the love of god, please look at the dynamics of the environment these characters are in and ask yourself: well, how could they respond to this in this way if they’ve never been taught anything different?? what other options do they have if they’ve never been given them?? if they are aware of other choices— how can they release themselves from the shackles they were born into when everyone else around them either supports it or is nonchalant because “it’s the way things are”. how can you expect a lone wolf to go into a room of armed hunters and beg to be spared?? ask yourselves these things, then maybe you’ll finally understand why alicent is who she is and why rhaenyra is who she is.
#rhaenicent#rhaenyra targaryen#alicent hightower#rhaenyra x alicent#alicent x rhaenyra#house of the dragon#hotd#asoiaf#i just feel like these characters are written intricately and to see them be watered down to “bad’ vs ‘good’ is a bit frustrating#i know it’s just fiction so like really who cares?? but i think it’s more of the fact so many ppl watch the show but aren’t processing what#they’re witnessing outside of ‘bad’ vs ‘good’ which leads to them having a completely different story in their head compared to what’s#actually being told
