THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION BASED ON THE AMAZING HUGH JACKMAN AND MY CRAZY IMAGINATION

You and Hugh had been sleeping together since filming started for the marvel movie that you were both in. He had warned you in the beginning that you and him could be nothing more than good friends as far as anyone else was concerned. He told you that since you were only a few years older than his oldest child, he didn’t think that they would approve and that he really liked you but given the age difference there’s no way anything real could be there. At the time, you thought it’s okay, you weren’t gonna catch feelings. You verbally promised him that you would be fine and you wouldn’t want anything more than sex and friendship. He literally made you verbally promise him that you wouldn’t fall in love with him. As corny as that promise sounds, and you had actually laughed at the time thinking you could totally handle this. You fell for him a hell of a lot quicker than you thought possible. 

You were in denial about it for a long time. Even your friends had noticed there was change with you and that you were absolutely smitten with the secret friends with benefits you were in. Your friends knew you were hooking up with someone from the set, but they had no idea who it was. Not even Hugh’s best friend, Ryan, knew that you two were sleeping together. Everyone believed that you two were just good friends despite being love interests on screen and having “amazing on-screen chemistry”, no one suspected that there would be anything going on between you two. Truthfully as far as you were concerned, you couldn’t care less what anyone said or what anyone thought about your age difference. I mean you were almost 30, you were old enough to know what you wanted or even who you were in love with. 

You had rented an apartment where filming was located but you ended up staying at Hugh’s place more than your own. You finally accepted that you were in love with Hugh, when you were doing a press tour with him for the movie, this was a few months after filming finished, and while on this press tour, you both had often shared a hotel suite, unbeknownst to anyone else of course. You had both finished your interviews for the day. By the time you both were finished, it was around dinner time but neither of you had wanted to go anywhere but the hotel room and just finally relax. You had both agreed on ordering room service for the night. Your relationship, at this point, had developed beyond sex, and there was truly a friendship there. 

While you and Hugh were waiting for your food to come up, you and Hugh were currently smoking your cart while in the kitchen of the suite you both were staying in. You were sitting on the counter while he was singing and dancing around. He was wearing a white tank top with sweatpants and tube socks. He invited you over to dance with him by extending his hand out to you. You jumped off the counter to accept his offer and he playfully danced and sang with you til a knock at the door startled you both, making you both break out into laughter before you exited from view while he grabbed the food. It was that night that you finally accepted that you were completely in love with this man. He had been extremely flirtatious with you and playful. 

“So, y/n, I’m thinking of, maybe, pursuing a secret passion of mine.” Hugh told you after you two had finished eating.

“What? Porn?” You said, sarcastically but with a serious face. 

“Yeah, that’s exactly what it is. I’m glad that I didn't explain and that you just knew.” He responded seriously while looking you in the eyes before you started laughing, but then he continued. “No, you fucking jackass, and don’t make fucking fun of this, but poetry. I write poetry in my free time and I’ve got enough of it that I could publish it.”

“Oh, well, what kind of poetry?” You asked.

“Mostly just about life and some about parenthood.” He said sincerely.

“What about romantic poetry?” You asked him.

“Not really my thing.” He responded.

“I think that it’s really amazing that you write poetry and I think that you should absolutely publish it, if that’s what you wanted.” You responded with all sincerity.

You were an actress but you occasionally released original music. You did more of a hobby than a career. However, as your acting career grew, so did your music career. Only problem was, you wrote music based on events in your life. As a few weeks went by and some of the press tour was finished. Unfortunately for you, Ryan, had let it slip during a comic con that you had a special hook up friend, meaning you and Hugh had to be even more careful and you couldn’t really stay in the same room like you had done so many times before. You could feel it in your gut that it was wearing on Hugh’s mind, that someone was going to find out. It got to a point where he was practically avoiding you. 

You were in your own hotel room, watching some random show when your phone buzzed with a text from Hugh. It was your only two days off before the next leg of the press tour began.

“We need to talk. Is now a good time to come to your room?” As you reviewed the message, you felt tears come to your eyes, knowing in your heart that it was over. Your vision blurred as you typed out a simple “yes, now’s good.”

You fixed yourself up in the mirror before he came over. He took longer than you expected to get to your room. It was about twenty minutes after you sent him your room number that he showed up at your door. You let him in and he immediately began pacing the room, before finally settling on the be, while you stood leaning against the wall in front of him.

“Y/n, I need you to know that these last two years have been amazing.” He said with a sigh avoiding your gaze.

“Don’t.” You said, holding back tears while looking at him.

“We can’t do this anymore. There’s too much that could be jeopardized if anyone found out about you and I.” He went on, causing tears to build up in your eyes threatening to spill over. “If I was years younger or maybe you were older, we could work out.”

“If it’s truly over, then I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me that you feel absolutely nothing for me and that’s over.” You responded tears already falling, you wanted him to look you in the eyes and tell you because then maybe it’d be easier to move on.

Without missing a beat, he stood up from the bed keeping a fair amount of distance between you two before looking you in the eyes. “There is nothing more than friendship between you and I. There never will be, so this has to end.” 

You let the tears flow freely and a sob escaped you before you went on to tell him that he needs to leave. He did as you said but made sure to tell you if you ever need him, he’s always there for you. You almost scoffed at his words given how hurt you were. The funny thing is, there were moments when you two had been together that truly felt like love and now you wondered if you had been delusional in thinking so.

After a three month hiatus, the last leg of the press tour was beginning. You hadn’t spoken to Hugh since that night. You preferred it that way, you buried yourself in your creative outlets to keep him off your mind, but unfortunately, he was always on your mind. A month and a half after your last conversation with him, it became news that he had released a book of poetry. It wasn’t until 3 weeks after it’s release, that you learned it contained romantic poetry which Hugh had denied being something he’d do. Curiosity eventually got the best of you and you read some of the romantic passages on various sites. It didn’t take long for you to realize that he was referencing moments from yours and his relationship in his poetry which made you break down that day. Feelings that you had buried, coming to the surface.  

You decided to do what you do best. You wrote a song about it and fully intended to release it as quickly as you could. After you released the song, some celebrity gossip blogs put two and two together and speculated that you and Hugh had a “torrid” affair. You figured that the following verse of your song was what maybe gave it away.

You felt bad that someone had somehow figured it out but you figured since it was in the early stages of a rumor, you could deny it completely for Hugh’s sake. You didn’t want his relationships with his kids jeopardized because of you. You knew deep in your heart that you loved him and always would. You had a comic con panel with Hugh and Ryan coming up in a few hours and you were going to address the rumors. 

However, unbeknownst to you, after Hugh ended things with you, he was a wreck at first and ended up confronting everyone close to him about yours and his relationship. His kids didn’t approve at first, but upon seeing how genuine his emotions were when it came to you, they came around. They even helped him put a video together using your song with the hopes of winning you back. 

When you all were sat in the panel room, nearing the end when you all were doing Q/A, someone had asked about the rumors regarding you and Hugh. You were about to speak when Hugh cut you off. 

“You know, I think that now would be an excellent time to address those rumors and I would like to direct everyone's attention to the screen to get the perfect answer to that question.” He said, making you extremely confused as the lights dimmed and a video started playing.

As you watched the screen, you saw pictures of you and Hugh together throughout the last two and half years, with your song in the background. Nearing the end of the video, Hugh’s kids appeared on screen.

“Y/n, listen, our dad finally fessed up about you and him.” His son started.

“We were apprehensive at first, but we can see how much he cares about you.” His daughter continued.

“And we would like you both to be happy.” His son finished before in unison Hugh’s children said that you’d have their approval. Shortly after, the lights came back on and your eyes darted from the screen to Hugh, waiting for him to say something while there was hushed murmuring from the crowd.

“Y/n, I tried so hard to deny what I felt for you and I was so scared of what this meant that I pushed you away. I want to say that I love you and I hope that you still love me too.” He said.

“I love you too, Hugh.” You said before getting up from your seat and kissing him, causing Ryan to start clapping while the crowd followed, making you laugh.

You didn’t know what the future was going to hold, but you knew that as long as you had Hugh, you would be alright.

i see there's shipping discussion occurring in your ask box so i figure i'll throw in my two cents as well!

i used to be a REALLY heavy shipper, in exactly that shallow "reduce their personalities to the concept of kissing each other" way that tons of people are complaining about. i wouldn't get into ship wars or harass people or anything, but i was totally the kind of person who you couldn't just have a level character discussion with— because i would be pretty intent on just going through the motions with whatever best friend or acquaintance I'd decided they had a huge crush on.

by contrast now my biggest most important "ships" end up all being somewhere between 3-5 people with a lot of care put into the nuances of each connection on the relationship chart— i still refer to them as poly ships (as a shorthand mostly), but of the 3 to 10 different relationships between the characters, i usually only see a few of them as romantic or sexual, with the majority a lot closer to a found family or queerplatonic sort of vibe

honestly i think the biggest reason for the reductive style of shipping was that 1) i wasn't as skilled a writer then as i am now, so i wasn't really sure how to really retain all of the features of a character that i liked, and 2) i wanted the biggest feelings IMMEDIATELY and there's some kind of instant gratification to shipping where the end goal is for them to kiss and you can just draw/write/think about them kissing and you're done.

it's kind of like the instant ramen of fictional relationships to me. it's kind of "one size fits all", low writing skill requirement, low effort, really really fast and easy, and ultimately not really that rewarding at the end of it. and just like how real actual ramen exists separately from instant noodle cups, it IS possible to write a really amazing and beautiful and deep romantic ship fic that successfully plays off of the kinds of people these characters are, but ramen still isn't the end-all be-all of relationships! there are so many different hypothetical dishes that could be made with the same characters!

and my personal favorite is polyqueerplatonic ships for this very reason, because with just a few characters you can get a whole diverse array of interactions and dynamics!!

anyway tldr; i think romantic shipping is fun, and even "cheap" reductive romantic shipping can be fun, but (to return to my instant noodles metaphor) it would be reasonably upsetting to attend an awesome community potluck only to find like 90% cup noodles. and the people serving the cup noodles frown at you whenever you ask if anyone's serving like, gourmet spaghetti or dumplings or something.

so just know that if you're bringing your silly "ouhhh they should kiss" fan works to the fandom, you're appreciated and I'm glad you're having fun, and if you're bringing the super precisely thought-out nuanced relationship fan works to the fandom, you are ALSO so appreciated and additionally i really wish there were more of you in my own fandoms.

Thinking about how Leo says he uses his jokes to cope and y’know, thinking harder on it I think it may very well be because of what else uses one-liners and puns and that type of humor.

Specifically, 80’s action movies and campy sci-fi. Even more specifically, the protagonists of these.

So I can imagine why, exactly, Leo leans toward this brand of humor. It’s directly linked to things he loves! But even more than that is why I think it’s used as a coping mechanism.

In these genres, these quips tend to be said by the winner - or, if not a winner, then someone who will stay alive. So there’s a confidence behind them, an assurance, almost, that even if things go wrong, things aren’t ever too serious. There’s no bad endings here! It’s all good fun, even if the stakes seem high.

Leo canonically has been known to steer his brothers away from the more brutal villains and toward more fun, lighthearted activities and not-so-dangerous criminals. So for Leo, these jokes definitely make things less heavy, make the situations they find themselves in less intense.

It’s kinda not just coping, but also can be seen as a form of escapism. A safety blanket. A way for Leo to defuse the tension of knowing just how dangerous their lives are and replace that with a levity which implies that things will be okay.

Unfortunately, levity alone does not alter reality.

That's so fucked up that people are romantizing Franco, because even Red Barrels are showing him as a total creep and disgusting person. In Outlast Tag I have a feeling that some artists are making him completly different character, making him charming/safe/lovely. I even have seen some people who were drawing him with normal face (without big forehead) and you couldn't tell them that it's the right character design! I feel like Franco enjoyers are more agressive than fans of other Outlast character. Even with Coyle/Eddie simps they seem to understand that they are evil and they murder others, but with Franco I feel like they can take it when someone tell them that he's grown up, murder people in very brutal way and his voice lines are just disgusting... it really seems that people are getting agressive only because someone tell some shit about 🎀✨️Franco🎀✨️. I know his fans isn't the only one that have stick in their ass (cause I seen a lot of shit bout Coyle/Big Grunts/Easterman etc.) but yall need to understand that FRANCO IS A GROWN ASS MAN and you would run for your life if you'd meet someone in irl as 1% fucked up as he is. Saying that he's just a Baby and he made nothing wrong is just 🤮 and problem is in yall if you justificate him and things he made.

idk how to tell you this ,,,, but this game is fictional. The characters are fictional. You're free to feel however you want about them, just like I and anyone else is.

I partially agree with the part about changing his appearance to make him look more "normal" or whatever, but at the same time people are allowed to interpret their favs however they want to. They can draw / write for him however they want to. I don't like "fixing" his face, just because it (personally) feels like saying "he's too ugly", but again, that's just me. As an artist, I know that people are going to have different interpretations of a character I like. It's just part of other people existing in the world. Not everyone thinks like you do, and that's okay.

Do you know how many posts I saw (and STILL see) about Eddie Gluskin, doing essentially the same thing as what you said people do with Franco?? That man would cut you open to "make a baby in you" no hesitation and people still ""romanticize"" him (me fuckin included I LOVE YOU EDDIE). Its just part of liking fucked up characters, some people are going to want to make them more "normal".

Personally, I see the normalization as more like wanting to give him some normalcy in his life, because of his past / lore. I love the idea of letting Franco have a normal life, be a normal person. A life where he never had to deal with the stupid Mafia stuff, had a decent father and never ran into Murkoff, having a normal, happy life. But, I also seriously adore his original, fucked up character.

Honestly, who actually cares if people are "justifying" his actions??? None of them are real. He is not real. I have never understood the sentiment that you have to make sure people know you don't justify a fictional characters actions... they are not real. It's not a real person. None of the things he did happened.

Maybe it's just me, but I would not run from someone like him. That's not some edge lord "im so evil and dark" bs but because of my real life experiences. Been with and around people in my life / family who are quite like him and I didn't run.

I imagine some of us are using it as a sort of coping mechanism, because (at least for me) some of us dealt with people who treated us like he would. Though, that's getting into personal territory, and I won't try and speak for others.

All I can really say is either learn that not everybody's going to have the same ideas as you or block the tag. Sorry if that's too harsh a response, but life is too short to really give that much of a fuck about someone /something other people like.

And I've said this before but this is literally Outlast, all of the characters are this fucked up, it's not just him.

one thing the asoiaf/got/hotd fandoms are going to do is completely miss the point of the story being told; the complexities of the characters; the imprisonment of the monarchy, classism, intergenerational trauma, bloodlines, and misogyny.

somehow millions of people love the shows and books and yet, cannot for the life of them be able to figure out why the characters maneuver the way they do. it’s being highlighted again just how much the mark is missed within the fandom based on how alicent and rhaenyra are talked about. sure, have your takes. dislike one, love the other. but the character analysis that follows with the reasoning as to why you feel the way you do about a character (especially the female characters) seems to sometimes lack the actual context that is given.

look at how women are treated. look at the ages of the characters. look at how everyone is just a pawn in someone’s game. look at the relationships amongst the families. look at how literally a fucking title and iron throne can control someone’s values because that’s what they’ve been taught is priority.

once again: nothing wrong with having different perspectives on the characters, but for the love of god, please look at the dynamics of the environment these characters are in and ask yourself: well, how could they respond to this in this way if they’ve never been taught anything different?? what other options do they have if they’ve never been given them?? if they are aware of other choices— how can they release themselves from the shackles they were born into when everyone else around them either supports it or is nonchalant because “it’s the way things are”. how can you expect a lone wolf to go into a room of armed hunters and beg to be spared?? ask yourselves these things, then maybe you’ll finally understand why alicent is who she is and why rhaenyra is who she is.

i kinda think part of why people treat donnie as less caring than he is is like. sometimes not knowing when he's joking? like that time he threatens to be "semi-lethal" when splinter's in the truck with meat sweats. like i'm sure most of you knew he was joking but like. do some of you realise he like, would not have done that? like remember how he was sad? when splinter actually got hurt? same with leo in the movie? and all of them at every other time?

like he's self proclaimed funniest. and also a mad scientist aesthetic doesn't make a character a villain by itself it's what you actually do with that (yes he has done bad things within that area (haunted stare towards mind meld) but you have to admit he like. did fix those. and feel bad and hopefully learn his lesson but hey that's another analysis)

i have mixed feelings on villain donnie stuff, as an example, because like. ANY character put in a situation where they lose their way is really fun and if in character is really interesting as to what could cause that.

but when it's treated as like. inevitable. who he is, or phrasing his brothers are the only thing stopping him being evil. it's like hm. ugh. kind of hurts a bit actually but that's probably because i relate to him ghfdjk

like the seen in snow day with the tech bo chainsaw like. all he really DOES is cut a snowman there but he's just like. leaning into being "evil" with the chainsaw but like he's just being silly with it. acting like that's proof of anything is wild to me, without any other data points.

also kind of separate but i think there's a dissonance between what is like. seen as evil? between me and like most people lol. like the scene in the movie as well with like "finally, man and machine, entwixt in perfect bionic synergy" someone i watched it with was like "haha evil moment" or whatever where i was just like. yeah real that would be rad as hell. honestly gender also.

not saying he's never done anything wrong but i am saying he immediately tries to fix all of those things

anyway he does have a really interesting relationship with morals in my eyes but like, at his core he really cares about people, you know?

this isn't hate to anyone btw i just care about donnie a lot as a character and as really layered autistic representation

Sometimes I really kind of envy you native English speakers who make writing and posting fics seem so fucking easy. With near perfect grammar and hardly any typos. Or those of you who are capable of writing & updating your fics whenever the muse hits you just right... and not like, once in six months. Actually, try two years lol.

Run-of-the-mill flagrant w* shippers are awful and disgusting of course but god those Kripke era purists who literally salivate over how fucked up the Sam + Dean + John dynamic is and act like the most intellectual people on earth for doing so. And are quietly but very obviously into w* but not in a typical shipping sense and rather in the sense that they have a real and perverse enjoyment of abuse and emotional incest.
