@steddiemas Day 1: Deck the Halls (Festive Friday)
Something short and silly to start off with. I'm so excited for this event. Thank you sooo much to @steddieasitgoes for creating it 💖💖💖 I love writing Christmas stuff for ST and I have a few things planned for the Steddiemas calendar.
“Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-laaaaaa.”
Steve would cringe if he wasn’t carrying most of the weight of the Munson’s new Christmas tree in through the front door and trying to avoid scratching himself on either the branches or the metal frame of the fly screen.
Eddie is behind him, muttering the same tune over and over, just high enough for Steve to hear, but not loud enough to call attention to himself.
He’s been like this all day – too cheery and chipper as they decorate the trailer while Wayne is at work. Busying himself with not much more than his chiming, his tone all wobbly and hollow like a kid carolling.
It’s far too early in December as far as Steve is concerned. Hell, he doubts he will even decorate his own house this year.
What’s the point if he will be home alone?
And, as Eddie lets go of what part of the tree he was barely holding in the first place, Steve begins to regret offering his help entirely as he goes careening onto the couch.
“Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.”
“Eddie!” Steve splutters, rolling on his side and palming around on the edge of the couch for support.
“What?”
He looks up to find Eddie smiling and twirling the end of his maroon scarf.
“Could you have actually helped?” he snaps.
“You said you ‘got it’!” Eddie makes half-hearted air quotes and lowers his tone in what Steve can only assume is supposed to be a mockery of his own voice.
“Asshole!” he grumbles.
“Grinch!”
Eddie pokes his tongue out at him before offering a dimple-filled grin.
Steve glares, “Can you at least bring in the box of decorations?”
Eddie turns on his heel and skips back out the front door.
“Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.”
Steve runs a hand through his hair and groans. Maybe he could just run out the front door, elbow Eddie out of the way of the car and speed off into the distance.
“Why am I here?” he mutters to himself.
He takes the opportunity to catch his breath and looks the tree over. Thankfully, it isn’t damaged - save for the odd fallen pine shoot.
Eddie soon hops back up the stairs, winter boots shaking the metal landing as he cradles the box of decorations they had gathered between Melvads, Goodwill and the dollar store.
“I love Christmas!” he beams as he sets the box on the coffee table to begin rummaging, “Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.”
Eddie hands over a bauble. It’s red and green, the stripes broken up with gold glitter. One that Steve had picked from Melvads’ Christmas aisle.
Their fingers brush as Steve takes the bauble and he looks up to find Eddie grinning from ear to ear.
That’s why he’s here, he thinks, smiling back.

A Drowning Man Can't Save Another (830 words) by thesavagesabretooth
Additional Tags: Character Study, Seven Year Gap (Gyakuten Saiban), Depression, Mental Health Issues, Autistic Miles Edgeworth, Angst
Summary: Miles struggles with his own mental health issues while wishing there was more he could do for Phoenix Wright.
-
Miles blamed himself for Phoenix's disbarment. If he had been there, instead of messing about with the whole Zheng Fa affair, and Blaise Debeste and all the fallout of that– if he had actually been there to do his damned job and prosecute, none of it would have happened.
He stared out into the dark, heavy and starless horizon of the LA skyline, his own face and figure reflected in the glass of his office window.
The self recriminations and 'what ifs' were eating him alive. But there was only one past, just as there was only one truth, and the truth was that Miles hadn't been there. And Phoenix Wright had been disbarred.
And Miles felt like he was watching Phoenix Wright's life fall apart in real time– just as Miles' own had fallen apart for the past several years of his life.
Miles saw Phoenix drowning, and he couldn't even reach out a hand to help him up because Miles was still puking up sea water.
It was ten o'clock at night. Phoenix was out drinking in some dive bar, and Miles was here at the prosecutorial office, finishing up paperwork and brooding.
What the hell was he going to do?
Phoenix Wright needed his help. They were lovers. Miles loved him– he really did love him. That meant he had to help, didn't it?
He should go out to where Phoenix was now, and drag him back to Miles' house. Sober him up, and tell him he'd be living with him until the matter was resolved. Obviously, Trucy too.
That was the right thing to do. That was the responsible thing to do. That was what a lover, a partner, someone who loved Phoenix Wright would do.
But just the thought of it made Miles start to shake. It made his stomach tie itself in knots.
MIles knew that he was a fragile man. A weak man. Small things upset him.
He imagined coming into his house and finding dishes unexpectedly in the sink, or finding that someone had moved something on his nightstand. He imagined coming home and finding that someone had left the lights on, or that there was music playing in the room. Not even music he didn't like– just– music he didn't expect.
Every little idea set his nerves on edge. Miles was fine with visiting. Visiting could be controlled. Visiting was expected. It also took energy to recover from.
And the idea of sharing a home with someone– even someone he loved– on a permanent basis; the idea of having no space that was truly his own and inviolate; the idea of never having a chance to recover from 'visiting'-- it sent Miles Edgeworth's heart rate through the roof.
Miles put his hand on his chest and took a breath, trying to relax himself. If he didn't want to live with Phoenix Wright, did that mean he didn't love him? People wanted to live with each other to care for each other, and to share each other's lives.
Phoenix would never ask him, either. He would never let his pride go like that. The only time he had ever asked Miles for anything had been for someone else's sake.
So it would be a fight. Miles would be fighting tooth and nail against an angry, desperate Phoenix Wright. And he'd be fighting for an outcome he didn't even want. An outcome that made him feel unsafe.
Miles started shaking again and he touched the cool glass of the window, hoping the sensation would stabilize him.
He knew there was something wrong with him. There had always been something wrong with him. He was too particular. Too sensitive. Too high strung. Too easily wounded.
Miles Edegwroth couldn't even take care of himself– how the hell was he going to take care of Phoenix Wright?
He wished that there were someone he could look to for advice, someone to help him navigate this– but he felt adrift. He would have to come to his own conclusions, as usual.
He tried to push through his circling negative thoughts.
Phoenix Wright wouldn't want to live with him. Even if that was what would objectively be the best course. So Miles would have to help him in other ways. He could do that– he was sure he could do that, even if Phoenix wouldn't like it.
It was fine. It was going to be fine. Phoenix was going through a dark time, but Miles had experience with dark times. He'd support Phoenix how he could, and when the light shone at the end of the tunnel, Wright would smile at him, and they'd laugh about it.
It probably wasn't even going to be a long tunnel. Phoenix was resilient. He always bounced back. It would be just like it was in court. They'd think everything was doomed, and then turn it around. He was sure of it. Any day now.
MIles knew he was lying to himself.

-----
actually I haven't started playing eldarya yet, only a few days ago I discovered the existence of a site that allows you to customize the protagonist of the story (there's also one to customize our candy, I love it 😭💞) probably these two sites have existed for many years but I only noticed them now
in this regard, I seriously decided to play eldarya, I signed up for a while but before officially starting I'm accumulating a bit of energy. In the meantime, I've already chosen my flirt and my eyes have fallen on Nevra: I think he's very cool, I'm also curious to know his personality.

The Future
Give me back my broken night
my mirrored room, my secret life
it's lonely here,
there's no one left to torture
Give me absolute control
over every living soul
And lie beside me, baby,
that's an order!
Give me crack and anal sex
Take the only tree that's leftand stuff it up the hole
in your culture
Give me back the Berlin wall
give me Stalin and St Paul
I've seen the future, brother:
it is murder.
Things are going to slide, slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
has crossed the threshold
and it has overturned
the order of the soul
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant
You don't know me from the wind
you never will, you never did
I'm the little jew
who wrote the Bible
I've seen the nations rise and fall
I've heard their stories, heard them all
but love's the only engine of survival
Your servant here, he has been told
to say it clear, to say it cold:
It's over, it ain't going
any further
And now the wheels of heaven stop
you feel the devil's riding crop
Get ready for the future:
it is murder
Things are going to slide ...
There'll be the breaking of the ancient
western code
Your private life will suddenly explode
There'll be phantoms
There'll be fires on the road
and the white man dancing
You'll see a woman
hanging upside down
her features covered by her fallen gown
and all the lousy little poets
coming round
tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson
and the white man dancin'
Give me back the Berlin wall
Give me Stalin and St Paul
Give me Christ
or give me Hiroshima
Destroy another fetus now
We don't like children anyhow
I've seen the future, baby:
it is murder
Things are going to slide ...
When they said REPENT REPENT...

Il Futuro
Rendimi la mia segreta stanza
La mia vita vuota senza niente più
da torturare
E dammi una assoluta maestà su tutto
E stenditi vicino a me
E fa come ti ho detto
Dammi fumo e sesso estremo
Tutti dicono pentiti pentiti
Ma cosa dicono
Tutti dicono pentiti pentiti
Tutti dicono pentiti pentiti
Ma cosa chiedono
Tutti dicono pentiti pentiti
Ma cosa vogliono
Vedremo forte e chiaro
nella nostra civiltà
La privacy tra poco esploderà
Ci saranno fuochi accesi nella via
Ed un bianco ballerino
Vedrai una donna appesa a testa in giù
La faccia non si riconosce più’
I giovani poeti tutti intorno
Fare il verso all’assassino
tutti dicono pentiti pentiti
ma cosa dicono
Tutti dicono pentiti pentiti
Ma cosa intendono
Tutti dicono pentiti pentiti
Ma cosa vogliono

Fa La La (Wanda Maximoff/ Reader)
Hi, everyone!
Here is a Christmas fic loosely inspired by Justin Bieber's "Fa La La".
Summary: Christmas was about giving which meant that it was the perfect time to give the confession of love… Right?
The letter was clenched tightly in between your fingers, every word of admiration and confession of love nestled neatly in the lines of the pages. It might not be the best moment to do this, but was there ever a good time for situations like this? You personally couldn’t think of a better time. Christmas was about giving which meant that it was the perfect time to give the confession of love… Right?
Shaking away the thoughts you marched forward before you could talk yourself out of it again. The endless cycle had been going on for hours which made you one of the last to arrive at Tony Stark’s annual Christmas party. And since you were one of the ‘featured guests’ as Tony took to calling the Avengers for the party, your late arrival drew far more attention than you were comfortable with. Even still, your eyes were only drawn to one sole angel in a sea of faces. The same redheaded Avenger who had stolen your heart and every thought. For a moment, time stood still as you watched her speaking casually with Pietro.
She looked beautiful. There was no other way to put it. No need for frills when it came to her. Wanda Maximoff radiated pure, undiluted beauty, but what drew you to her was not the beauty on the outside but rather who she was on the inside. She radiated that same beauty from within and falling in love with her was inevitable.
The world slowed even further when Wanda turned and met your eyes from across the room, every twinkling holiday light that had been strung in the compound reflecting and bending around her. As if their sole purpose was to shine just for her, in envy of the way the light in her eyes stole their very purpose. You were almost positive that even the stars in the sky could not outshine her eyes.
Before you could make your way over to her though, you felt the letter that contained the contents of your heart get snatched out of your hands and a pair of mischievous hazel eyes fill your line of vision. “What is this? A letter for Santa?” Yelena teased in her signature sarcastic Russian drawl, the letter dangling delicately between her fingers. “Tsk, tsk, Y/n. Don’t you know? Santa can’t wrap up an Avenger and put her under the tree for you.”
A burning sensation flooded your cheeks as you looked around to be sure no one heard before turning back to your best friend. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Yelena’s eyebrows raised in challenge. “Oh? Let’s see…” Her eyes skimmed the page playfully, and she began reciting in her best Americanized accent. “‘Merry Christmas, Wanda. Having the opportunity to be your friend this year has been the greatest gift of all, but Christmas is the time to tell people how you feel and I have fallen completely in lov-’”
You quickly snatched the letter out of Yelena’s hands, even the tips of your ears burning in embarrassment. “Can you shut up for five seconds of your life? Someone could have heard.” You hissed.
Yelena threw her head back and let out a boisterous laugh. “That language is not very jolly, my friend.” She continued to tease, her arm wrapping around your shoulders. “Though I suppose it sounds like you could have one reason in particular to be jolly tonight. If you would finally toughen up and tell her.”
All you could manage was a groan as Yelena wiggled her eyebrows playfully and gestured subtly over to Wanda. “I’m putting coal in your stocking and returning all the gifts I got you.” You countered flatly.
Yelena gasped indignantly. “That is uncalled for.”
You shrugged her arm off your shoulder, the letter still clenched in your hands, now wrinkled. “I’m going to leave now. You’re on probation until Christmas.”
“That’s really not fair.”
You shrugged, “You keep teasing me.”
“Teasing you how? I’m just making statements.” Yelena began innocently.
“These don’t seem like statements to me.”
Yelena’s eyes glinted mischievously again. “How about… Do you hear melodies when her heart beats?” She continued playfully.
“That’s it. I’m ignoring you.” You said as you began walking away.
“Does it sing to you? Like fa la la?” she continued in a sing-song voice, calling after your retreating form.
“Goodbye Yelena!” You rushed out, finally making your way over to Wanda who was now standing alone.
The other woman watched you approach from across the room, a warm smile on her lips and you moved through the crowd in a daze, just anxious to be with her again. Before you knew it, you were in front of her but before you could get a word out, Wanda spoke. “You made quite the entrance. I was beginning to think you weren’t going to come.”
Your cheeks flushed with the knowledge that she noticed your absence. “I got caught up with one of my Christmas gifts.”
Wanda’s eyes sparked with curiosity. “Oh? Whose gift was it?”
For a moment you hesitated because you knew once you spoke there would be no going back. This was a crossroad.
“Yours actually.” You admitted, working up the nerve to make your admission.
It was Wanda’s turn to look bashful. “Y/n, I told you that you didn’t have to get me anything.”
In as sincere a tone as you could muster you said, “Wanda, you deserve everything you want.”
For a moment you both became lost in one another's eyes, “What if what I want isn’t something that can be wrapped?” She eventually said, her voice soft, but drowning out every other sound to you.
Your breath hitched and gave you hope that maybe, just maybe, she reciprocated your feelings. It gave you courage. The only problem was your grand declaration, the one you had spent hours rehearsing suddenly flew from your mind and the letter didn't feel right anymore. Wanda had been your friend for far too long for you to make this confession in the middle of one of Tony Stark’s parties through a letter. She deserved better and if that meant you had to wait for a better moment, then so be it.
Tucking the letter into the silky pocket of your Christmas party outfit, you made a quick decision. “Do you want to go for a walk?”
Wanda nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. “I’d like that. I was never a fan of Stark’s parties anyway.”
“Neither am I.” You confessed, offering her your hand. There was no hesitation as Wanda placed your hand in yours and suddenly it felt like the holiday lights became even brighter, your spirits lifted.
With her hand in yours, you led her gently through the party, your heart skipping a beat when you felt Wanda intertwine her fingers with your own, the whole ordeal even more intimate now.
You felt charged with the energy of the holidays or charged with the energy of words that were bubbling on the surface.
Whatever it was, you knew that you didn't want to let it go- you didn't want to let her go- and if her grip on your hand was anything to go by, then neither did she.
The only time you dropped hands was to put on your coats and scarves to brave the cold New York night, but Wanda made sure to take your hand again almost immediately after, bringing back the familiar fluttering feeling in your stomach that had become so familiar since she first entered your life.
Wanda playfully began swinging your hands in the space between you both once you finally made it outside. “So…” She drawled slowly, and you looked over at her. “Where are we going?”
You shrugged slightly and smiled at the way her nose turned pink in the cold night air. “I just thought we could walk. New York is particularly beautiful this time of year. Even if it hasn’t snowed yet.”
She smiled back at you. “Can’t argue with that. Lead the way.” Wanda replied contently. “I’ll gladly follow as long as it means I get to spend time with you.”
The fluttering in your stomach increased tenfold and you ducked your head. The sound of Wanda’s quiet giggles filled your ears and even though the New York City air was cold, you suddenly felt warm. “You have no idea the effect you have on me, Wanda Maximoff.” You mumbled with a small shake of your head.
Her fingers tightened around yours slightly. “I think I might.” She countered quietly.
This was it. The moment you were waiting for. This was the moment that you needed to tell her, to take the risk - the final leap between friendship and all you ever wanted.
“Wanda.” You tugged her to a stop, and her eyes sparked with an unspoken question. As you took a deep breath to work up the nerve for your words, something light landed on the top of your head… Then another… and another.
Looking up in unison you both watched the beginning of snow fall from above you, sprinkling down in light dusting. After watching the snowfall for a moment, you refocused on Wanda only to see her completely enthralled by the change of weather herself, a blinding smile on her lips as she watched the city around her become dusted in a fresh white powder of snow.
You were completely in awe of her, of the way the snow fell in her hair, and the happiness in her eyes. Joy bubbled in your chest to know that you got to share this magical moment with her.
You wanted to share every moment with her.
“I’m in love with you.” You breathed out.
Wanda immediately lost her interest in the snow, her attention fully on you now and the smile she wore moments before even brighter now. There was a brief moment of silence where it felt like your world hung in the balance and then, “I’m in love with you too.” She replied breathlessly.
Unable to help yourself, you placed your hands on her cheeks and pulled her into a tender kiss, melting into the warmth of her lips and the completeness you felt in your heart. Wanda’s own hands wrapped around your waist, pulling you tightly into her. You both gave yourselves over entirely to the pure bliss of the moment.
When it was necessary, you pulled away to catch your breath, feeling the warmth spread throughout your body despite the snow falling steadily around you now. “Ask me why I love Christmas.” You said suddenly.
Wanda’s brows furrowed slightly in confusion, but she complied. “Why do you love Christmas?”
“Christmas has always been about love to me and love meant you.” you began, leaning into Wanda’s hand when she began lovingly stroking your cheek. “All I could have ever wanted for Christmas is to love and be loved by you, Wanda Maximoff. I love you.”
Her eyes glazed over with emotion. “I love you, Y/n. You have all my love. I don’t need any presents. All I need is you with me and I have everything I could ever want. You’re my greatest gift.” The sincerity in her words took your breath away.
“Speaking of gifts though, I think now is a good time to give you this.” You reached into your pocket once again and pulled out the wrinkled letter. “This is why I was late to the party. It’s not everything I wanted to give you, but it’s everything I want to say. Just read it when we’re back inside.” You explained shyly.
Wanda took the letter in her hands as if it were the most precious jewel. “I can’t wait to read it.”
You watched as she carefully tucked the letter into the pocket of her coat before she pulled you into her arms. “But until I can, I’d like to hold you and memorize every detail of right now.”
“I love Christmas time.” you mumbled, smiling when you heard her giggle. With your ear pressed against her chest, you listened contently to the steady rhythm of her heart and realized Yelena was right. You did hear melodies when Wanda’s heart would beat and everything about it sung to you in the most beautiful way possible. Wanda gently tilted your head back up and you met her halfway in another loving kiss, the melodies looping peacefully in your mind.
And that's all folks! I hope you enjoyed this short fluffy piece as a peace offering for disappearing for so long. Work and school was really killing me, full time for both was a horrible idea haha. Thankfully I'm on break for a bit so I'll have more time! I have 3 other pieces in progress that are almost done and I will hopefully be able to post soon. Hopefully we can all catch up, I've missed you all!
It's been a while but remember, thoughts and comments are always, always welcome. :)

“ under the moonlight , you see a sight that almost stops your heart. ”
“ you try to scream , but terror takes the sound before you make it. ”
“ as horror looks you right between the eyes you’re paralyzed. ”
“ this is thriller night. ”
“ no one’s gonna save you from the beast about to strike. ”
“ you hear the door slam and realize that there’s nowhere left to run. ”
“ you feel the cold hand and wonder if you’ll ever see the sun. ”
“ you close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination. ”
“ you hear a creature creepin’ up behind––– you’re out fo time. ”
“ darkness falls across the land , the midnight hour’s close at hand. ”
“ creatures crawl in search of blood to terrorize your neighborhood. ”
“ whosoever shall be found without the soul for gettin’ down must stand and face the hounds of hell and rot inside a corpse’s shell. ”
“ i can thrill you more than any ghoul could ever dare try. ”
“ so let me hold you tight and share killer thriller tonight. ”
“ the foulest stench is in the air. ”
“ grisly ghouls from every tomb are closin’ in to seal your doom. ”
“ though you fight to stay alive , your body starts to shiver. ”
“ no mere mortal can resist the evil of the thriller. ”

There are people in our lives who make us happy for the simple case of having crossed our path.
Some walk the path alongside us, seeing many moons pass by, others we barely see them between one step and another.
We all call them Friends and there are many types.
Sometimes each leaf of a tree represents one of our Friends.
The first to be born is our Friend Dad and our Friend Mom, who show us what life is.
Then come the Amici Fratelli, with whom we share our space so that they can flourish like us.
We know the whole family of leaves that we respect and to whom we wish well.
But fate introduces us to other friends who we didn't know would cross our path.
We call many of them Friends of the Soul, of the Heart.
They are sincere, they are true. They know when we are not well, they know what makes us happy. And sometimes one of these Friends of the Soul slips into our heart and then we call him "in love".
He gives light to our eyes, music to our lips, leaps to our feet.
But there are also those Friends who are passing through, sometimes a holiday or a day or an hour.
They put a smile on our face all the time we are with them.
We cannot forget the distant Friends, those who stand in the tips of the branches and that when the wind blows
blows always appear between one leaf and another. Time passes, summer goes by, autumn is approaching and we lose some of our leaves, some are born the following summer, and others remain for many seasons.
But what leaves us happy is that the leaves that have fallen continue to live with us, feeding our roots with joy.
They are memories of wonderful moments when they crossed our path.
I wish you, leaf of my tree, Peace, Love, Luck and Prosperity.
Today and always… simply because every person who passes through our life is unique.
He always leaves a little of himself and takes a little of us.
There will be those who take a lot, but there will be those who leave nothing behind.
This is the greatest responsibility of our LIFE and the clear proof that two souls do not meet by chance.

The Ghosts of Christmas Eve
@jatp-adventevent Day Nine: I Got the Jingle <-AO3 link
Pairing: Juke (Julie/Luke)
Honestly, this is just me being a self indulgent Trans Siberian Orchestra fan, though I DO think they would be Luke's jam. If you want to check them out this was the concert I took inspiration from, and you can find the song they thought they could handle at the 13:53 mark. There's is a LOT of flashing lights, so if you are photosensitive, the show is not for you, but I do encourage you to check out TSO's music, it is really great! They also inspired the title of this fic, as its the name of one of their albums.
Luke groaned as they wandered through the mall, the Christmas music incessant and irritating. He wasn’t a Grinch by any stretch, but he just was never a fan of the same old holiday music. If he never had to hear Christmas Shoes again, he would be happy. Yet no matter where he went, it was the same five or six songs covered by a dozen different artists, putting their own spin on the same classic.
“Is it January yet?” he whined as the sounds of fa la la echoed throughout the shopping centre.
“No Scrooge, but we are almost done shopping. Do you wanna hit the record store to get something for Bobby while I take care of Flynn?” Julie proposed, and Luke could have fallen to his knees to kiss her feet. At least in the record store there was a chance they would play more rock oriented yuletide cheer.
Luke browsed the records, enjoying some Blink-182 while he flipped through the records, finally landing on something he knew Bobby didn’t have and would actually enjoy. Then he heard music he’d never heard before, a rare feat, with a starting cello, then violins, then an absolute eruption of guitars, playing what sounded suspiciously like Carol of the Bells. He rushed to the register, and demanded to know what band was playing.
“This is the Trans Siberian Orchestra dude. Metal Christmas songs, they rock! Do a great show if you ever get a chance to see one, though I think there’s a few floating around the internet if you look.”
Luke thanked the cashier profusely, then paid for the record, rushing off to find Julie, talking her ear off the whole way home about the amazing music he had discovered. She looked them up on Spotify, and finding the song that Luke had heard, queued it up so it blasted through the car stereo. The song was reaching its crescendo as they pulled into the driveway, but neither of them made a move to get out, still sitting there as the song finished. “Wow,” Julie stated. “I see now why you liked them so much, this screams like your kind of thing.”
“The dude at the store said they have concerts online, you think the guys would be cool with coming over and watching it?”
“Only one way to find out,” Julie said, texting the band, getting some confused, but enthusiastic responses, and before long the four of them were sitting down in front of the television. The concert began, and by the half hour mark, they were all enraptured. Alex liked that they were telling a whole story to connect the songs. Reggie loved all the visual effects; lights, fireworks and pyrotechnics everywhere. Julie loved that the band was also showcasing women, not just as singers, but rocking out on any number of instruments as well. Luke, well Luke adored the whole thing. The music was amazing, and the way the band transformed old songs, mixed them into new ones, even doing mash-ups, he was hooked.
“Pity there’s only four of us, we could totally rock some of these songs,” he commented as they took a break near the halfway point to refuel and refresh themselves.
“Well, I mean, if we pulled Bobby in on rhythm guitar and got Carrie to break out her violin, we could probably handle that O Holy Night song,” Reggie offered. Luke lit up at the idea, and started texting Bobby right away. Thankfully, Bobby was already a TSO fan and jumped at the idea of covering one of their songs. Carrie took a bit more convincing, since she only really picked up the violin to be the next Lindsey Stirling, but eventually agreed.
Luke was so pumped he even agreed to emulate the band's style for the video, though when Julie provided him with the sleeveless suit jacket, he swept her into a kiss. “I love you. Seriously, best girlfriend ever.”
Julie grinned, but shook her head before handing him an envelope. “It’s a bit early for you to get your present, but well…” She urged him to open it, and the scream he let out made it all worth it.
“You got us tickets to see them in concert? Jules, I love you!” Luke exclaimed, twirling her around. He finally put her down, running off to change, this video was gonna be sick!
Julie just shook her head, smiling as Luke disappeared. “I’m just glad I managed to turn him around on Christmas music,” she said before going off to get changed herself.

Billy Lenz x Reader | Coffee Shop AU
“U already know who this is... Coffee shop au but there's a competing coffee shop that sells holiday themed drinks depending on the day of the week (B I L L Y L E N Z I D E M A N D H I M)” - anon
Billy was pissed.
Stupid Coffee Shop with their stupid snowflakes- and who the hell painted that sorry excuse for a snowman on the front window?! It wasn't even December, and they already had decorations up and Holiday Specials advertised in big, bold lettering
Billy blew a stray strand of hair from his face, glaring out the window at the coffee shop across the street. Two years after they opened there, and he still couldn't believe they'd had the audacity to choose that location - maybe less that thirty feet away from the location of his shop. There he'd been, finally settled after years of therapy, content with the stability of his life, when they showed up.
Them and their hair...their clothes...their stupid face- stupid eyes-
They came and opened their shop, selling coffee a dollar cheaper than him and attracting half of his customers like moths to a flame. When Billy put up a sign advertising cookies, they advertised two-for-one deals. When he offered special holiday sales, they offered free cookies with any purchase on Tuesdays. When he advertised limited time coffee flavors, they advertised seasonal baked goods. Those with fewer tastebuds and lighter wallets began to switch to the other, lesser coffee shop within a couple of months, and Billy was left to suffer the consequences.
Granted, he still got good business, his coffee shop was unique, and obviously quite superior. Not only was he skilled in the art of coffee making, and served everything in ceramic cups unless otherwise specified, his shop was themed.
Each day was a different holiday, with different options for coffee. He had 'plain' options for those who just wanted a caffeine fix, but he had alternating holiday flavors for the more adventurous. And damn it, if someone wanted a Leprechaun Cappuccino on Thursday then too fucking bad! They’d have to show up on Monday like everyone else!
It had started off with just Christmas themed brews all year 'round, but he'd expanded after the first year. He hated having to explain the menu to new customers every single time they showed up, but he did enjoy messing around with different types of latte art. That is, if everyone stopped ordering the iced coffee...
Glancing back at his rival, he snarled.
Billy hated them. He hated their coffee shop, he hated their smile, he hated their dumb laugh-
He'd often see them through the window, putting a sign out front, or sweeping off the front step before they opened. They looked dumber and dumber each time he saw them. Sometimes they had the nerve to wave at him and yell out a greeting like they had no idea they were rivals, and Billy hated it. He wanted to get rid of them. He wanted to dump boiling coffee over their head. He wanted to rip out their intestines and-
Bad Billy! Bad for having bad thoughts again! Stupid, nasty Billy! Stupid-
Billy took in a long, deep breath, just like his therapist taught him to, focusing on the way his lungs filled with air and collapsed when he exhaled. He played with the hem of his sweater, worn from years of doing so, feeling the way the fibers ran across his fingertips. He sighed, wishing for just one day without intrusive thoughts, but knowing he'd never be granted that sort of reprieve. No, it wasn't something he'd ever be cured from...but it was something he was learning to manage better as the years went by.
He glanced around the shop, hoping none of the customers noticed his little episode. Thankfully, they all seemed absorbed in their activities and conversations.
Billy sighed, a bit relieved. He wiped off some glitter that had fallen onto the counter from the tinsel hanging above him, hoping none had gotten into his hair again, when the front door of the shop opened. Glancing up he saw a woman and a young boy walk in and make their way over to the counter. They were regulars, coming every single Tuesday for the Valentine's Day special.
"Welcome to ‘Fa-la-latte’, what can I get'cha?" Billy asked with a smile plastered on his face.
"I'd like a Sweetheart iced coffee," she gestured towards the boy. "And he just wants a strawberry muffin. To go, please."
Billy nodded and spun around to get to work, withholding the eye roll he nearly gave her. If he had one more customer order the iced coffee he was going to take it off the menu.
He didn't notice the bell on the door ring, too focused on his internal dialogue and making a damn good iced coffee (or, as good as iced coffee is going to get). Even if he had to make the same damn thing every Tuesday, he wasn't one to disappoint.
Shoving the lid of the coffee with one hand, he grabbed a muffin in the other, putting it in a bag and setting them both on the counter. The boy, like any child would, grabbed the muffin almost immediately, and Billy rang up the price on the cash register. While the woman pulled out her card, Billy saw the person behind them.
Billy's eye twitched and his pupils narrowed at the sight before him.
It was them.
The absolute nerve this person had was astonishing. They thought it'd be okay to just show up whenever they wanted? In his shop? The shop they were practically stealing money from by simply existing? With their little stupid, ugly smile, and their stupid-
"Thank you!" the woman's loud voice broke Billy out of his thoughts, taking her coffee and exiting the shop with the boy in tow.
Billy's knuckles were white as they walked up to him, a smile on their face. He saw through their facade. He wasn't falling for that sweet demeanor.
"Wow, they weren't kidding when they said you had a lot of options!" they said, eyes wide as they looked at the signs above Billy's head. "It must be exhausting having to have a different menu for each day!"
Billy's jaw began to hurt from clenching, eyes raking over their form as they rattled on about things he didn't care about.
"So, Tuesday is Valentine's Day, huh? What would you recommend for a newcomer?"
Billy blinked, "What?"
"I came to try it out myself! Everybody keeps raving about how good your stuff is, and I wanted firsthand experience!"
Oh. Oh this sneaky- They wanted to taste it so they could copy him! They wanted to steal his ideas and sell it for half price! He was so close to just leaning over the counter and grabbing them by the throat-
But, he couldn't just cause a scene in front of his loyal customers! This coffee shop was supposed to be their quiet space, where everyone could just relax and enjoy themselves. He wasn't about to ruin it for them, and risk losing business.
Gathering himself, Billy gave them a sickly sweet smile, "Well, everyone orders the Sweetheart Iced Coffee."
They shifted on their feet, "Is that what you would order?"
Oh they were good...
"No," Billy leaned on the counter. "I'd order the latte."
They glanced up to the sign, "Just a regular latte?"
"Yup."
Seemingly dumbfounded, they shrugged and said, "Alright. One medium latte, please!"
Sending them one last smile before he turned around, Billy scowled and got to work.
Who'd they fucking think they were? 'oNe MeDiUm LaTtE pLeAsE!' Like he was gonna make them one of his specialty drinks anyway! Still...if they were out for his recipe, they would've been more insistent to order a specialty drink, wouldn't they? He glanced back at them, watching the way they looked around the shop with an awed expression. Their acting skills were top notch, he'd give them that.
Billy shook his head, trying to stop himself from mumbling. A few phrases escaped his lips despite his efforts. He heard them laugh softly, and he nearly burst a blood vessel trying not to scream at them to get out. An image of stabbing them in the eyes with a candy cane abruptly took over his thoughts, and he couldn't help but muse over it with a satisfied hum. He'd watch as their blood warmed the candy in his hands, mixing into a sugary, sticky mess-
NO! Bad Billy! Bad, bad, BAD BILLY! Naughty, NASTY-
Billy closed his eyes for a moment, focusing on the way the coffee machine hummed.
"You have her father's love, Demetrius. Let me have Hermia's. Do you marry him?" Billy muttered in a low voice, steaming some milk with an iron grip. "Scornful, Lysander! True, he hath my love-"
"Are you quoting Shakespeare?"
Billy pointedly ignored them, trying not to break the handle on his coffee machine as he turned the steamer off while he murmured to himself, a bit softer than before, "And what is mine my love shall render him. And she is mine, and all my right of her, I do estate unto Demetrius."
He poured the milk into the coffee, swirling it into a neat, but not overly exotic heart. It was Valentine's Day themed, after all, and he wasn't about to get ridiculed for a sloppy job. Turning to set it down in front of them, he was briefly stunned to find they'd moved to sit over at the bar near him. His fingers twitched as he inhaled sharply, plastering a smile back on his face as he shakily set the cup down in front of them.
Their eyes scanned him for a long moment before falling to the latte in front of them, sending him a small smile and a thanks. Billy gave them a sickening "You're welcome" before turning to clean up, ignoring the pleased hum they gave after their first sip. He was mumbling to himself again while he washed out some used cups when they spoke.
"So, are you in a play?"
Billy paused for a moment, confused, "What?"
"Oh, you were just reciting lines, so I thought maybe you were trying to keep them memorized," they shrugged, and then lifted their cup of coffee. "This is really good, by the way!"
"Were you expecting it to be bad?" he bit out, a bit more harshly than intended.
"No, no! I'm just used to coffee that's not so great," they shrugged.
"If you wanted bad coffee, you should've ordered the Americano," Billy mumbled.
The laugh he earned stunned him, his thoughts pausing for a moment to take in the sight of their smile. Despite his suspicions, the twinkle in their eyes seemed genuine enough... It would be so easy to put that light out...make their eyes as dull as his own can be. Turn the whites into a scarlet-stained-
A cup shattered in Billy's grasp, slicing the silence like a knife through butter. A curse escaped his lips before he thought better of it, echoing throughout the room. Some of the customers looked in his direction. Billy wanted to apologize, but his voice wouldn't cooperate. He lowered his head a bit, hiding his face behind a curtain of hair, and shakily gathered the broken ceramic from the sink. Thankfully, he hadn't cut himself.
You should have, stupid, stupid Billy! You deserve it! Bad Billy! Bad-
"Are you alright?"
Billy turned to them, eyes manic. He relished in the way they tried to hide their discomfort.
"I'm fine," he bit out.
Billy seized the opportunity for a bathroom break, escaping the hellscape that was his coffee shop. Standing in the middle of the small bathroom, he spent the next few minutes trying to even his breathing. In, and out. In, and out. The breathing technique left a lot to be desired, and didn't do much for his racing thoughts...but it was better than nothing. If anything, at least he could tell his therapist he'd put in the effort. He glanced at his reflection in the mirror, unsurprised to see a murderous gaze looking back at him.
"If we shadows have offended, think but this and all is mended," Billy muttered, hands gripping the sink. "That you have but slumbered here, while these visions did appear. Heh! Dramatic."
Shaking himself off, Billy inhaled and exited the restroom.
They were still there, sipping their coffee and eyeing him as he walked back behind the counter. He sent them a smile, as though nothing had happened less than five minutes before. They blinked at him, confused, but Billy paid them no mind. Instead, he decided to make himself a latte. His hands were still quite shaky, and his heart had yet to really calm itself down. He fumbled with the steamer a bit, but managed to complete the drink with no mishaps.
"So...which holiday is your favorite?"
Billy stared at them as he sipped his latte.
"Mine is Halloween! I'm curious to know what the Death Brew tastes like," they smiled. "Is it bitter?"
Billy's eyes were glued to them as they patiently awaited his answer, and he took his time swallowing his coffee. They wanted to know what his brew tasted like, huh? They were definitely out to steal his recipe.
"It tastes like death," he replied. "Hints the name."
He jumped when they laughed out loud, apparently finding his sarcasm amusing. Billy hated the little butterfly that flew around in his tummy, and promptly squashed it with an eye roll and a huff.
Billy watched as they continued to look around at all the different decorations adorning the coffee shop, seemingly in admiration, but he couldn't be too sure. This person was crafty, and he had to be ready for anything. They were clearly looking for some way to ridicule him, or one-up him, and he would not allow it.
Still...the twinkle in their eyes...and the soft smile that settled on their lips...
"Christmas."
Their sparkling eyes turned back to Billy, "What?"
"My favorite holiday is Christmas," Billy said.
They smiled at him, "I should've known...there's a lot of tinsel hanging around in here."
Billy looked down at his latte, trying to sort through his racing thoughts. He hadn't felt this unsettled in a while, and it was a feeling he hadn't wished to relive.
"Your place is a lot calmer than mine," they said airily. "It's nice..."
Billy's eye twitched. He couldn't tell if that was a compliment, or a well-hidden insult. He just hummed in reply, trying not to appear as frazzled as he felt. However, he was sure the trembling in his hands was giving him away.
"Christmas is on Saturday, right?" they asked.
He nodded and they gave him a sweet smile.
"Well, I might have to come back in a few days, then," they replied, hopping off of the bar stool. "I'll see you around! Thanks for the coffee!"
Baffled, Billy watched them leave with his mouth hanging open. He stared until he saw them disappear behind the door of their own coffee shop.
Everything about that interaction had gone strangely, in his mind, and he wasn't sure if it was because it had been strange or if it was just him who found it odd. They'd seemed genuinely curious about everything, not with ill intentions in mind. However, they'd left so abruptly...almost like they did it on purpose.
They were probably scared of Billy. They probably heard him mumbling nasty things under his breath and ran away- T-they knew Billy is bad! They knew Billy has bad thoughts! Bad, bad thoughts! They- They...
They didn't fucking pay for their coffee.
Billy nearly saw red, glaring at the empty cup that sat on the counter. With shaking hands he grabbed it, doing his best not to toss it across the room in frustration. He froze, however, when he saw a small slip of paper flutter on the table where the cup had been sitting. Curiosity peaked, Billy set the cup in the sink and then picked the paper up between in fingers.
"Feel free to stop by my shop any time for a free coffee! We've got lattes ;)"
Billy didn't enjoy the way his face felt as it flushed, and he really didn't enjoy this new feeling of butterflies in his stomach. And yet, a grin split on his face, and a cackle escaped his lips, earning a few glances. He turned to see them staring at him through their own window. They grinned and waved at him, and he choked.
If they were so insistent on stealing his recipes, he'd just have to return the favor. He wanted to see what all those customers saw in their stupid coffee shop. They probably batted their stupid eyelashes at people, and smiled their stupid smile-
Their stupid, goofy smile... Made their eyes crinkle at the corners... He could think of many different ways they could use that mouth of theirs-
No! Bad, naughty Billy! Having naughty thoughts at work! Bad! Bad! BAD!

might i have this dance?
a/n: more of stephen and tony in Italy (following college au canon ofc) and direct sequel to “we meet again” there’s going to be a little bit of angst but this fic is mostly just soft cotton candy fluff
Natasha “promised” to get up at 10:00, but made a fashionably late appearance in the living room at 10:15. Truthfully, extra 15 minutes here and there didn’t matter much. Some cousins were still asleep anyway, and in fact it was more accurate to say that most of the family was having a bit of a lie-in. Stephen, in a break from his usual habits, was a straggler and didn’t consciously wake up when he did. He rather followed the smell of tea towards the kitchen, only getting as far as the living room where he flopped down next to Anthony.
The tea could wait, Stephen was still a bit sleepy and wanted to snuggle.
“Buongiorno, mia vita,” Anthony murmured, pulling Stephen into a hug.
“Did you come back to bed after talking with Natasha?” Stephen asked, well aware that one of Anthony’s younger cousins was staring at him for some reason.
“No, I went back to our bedroom but I wasn’t tired, so I drank some coffee and talked to Rhodey for a little bit,” Anthony replied. “You sleep like a log when you put your mind to it.”
“I sleep like a log when you wake me up unexpectedly,” Stephen quipped, smiling at Anthony’s words. Something about the way he referred to his bedroom as theirs made Stephen feel warm and loved and happy.
Anthony glanced down at him, pressing a soft kiss to his sleep-ruffled hair. “What’s on your mind?”
“You. What else?” Stephen replied, snuggling closer to Anthony. He heard a relative talking about them in the background, but paid little attention.
“Grazie, Zia,” Anthony responded to his aunt before turning back to Stephen. “Thinking about me?”
“By now you must know that I’m almost always thinking about you, Anthony,” Stephen said. “You live in my head rent free.”
Anthony blushed and kissed Stephen again. “You’re such a romantic asshole.”
Stephen just hummed in agreement and relaxed against him, enjoying the calm morning energy of Anthony’s family. People filtered in and out of the living room, making idle chitchat and eating some light snacks. Someone had made brunch reservations for later, so everyone was waiting to leave for the restaurant.
“Is Stephen awake?” Giulia called from the kitchen.
“Yes!” Stephen and Anthony giggled as they responded simultaneously.
“Would you like some tea, dear?” Giulia asked.
“Yes please,” Stephen replied.
“Anthony? How about you, bambino?” Giulia asked.
“Per favore, Nonna, grazie,” Anthony replied, the timbre of his voice warming Stephen’s heart.
He knew he was staring, but Stephen found that he couldn’t bear to take his sleepy gaze away from Anthony. He was entranced, feeling content and loved as Anthony wrapped his arms around Stephen and hugged him closer. He’d almost fallen asleep again when Giulia walked into the living room.
“Well aren’t you two sweet,” she murmured, handing them each a mug of tea. “Anthony, dov’e tua sorella? Sta ancora dormendo?”
“Credo di si, le ho parlato circa un’ora fa e ha detto che voleva tornare a dormire,” Anthony replied, taking a sip of his tea. He smiled as Stephen shifted a bit closer to him, even as they couldn’t get much closer.
“Nonna?” Anthony’s cousin, the one who was still staring at Stephen and whose name escaped him, asked quietly. “Chi e quello vicino a Tony?”
Giulia smiled as Anthony laughed quietly.
Anthony’s cousin stared at the couple for a few moments. “They look like they’re married.”
“Not yet, cugino,” Anthony replied, continuing to laugh at the conversation.
“You’re making the entire family wait, nipote mio,” Giulia teased, joining her family in the living room to wait for Natasha.
++++
“There’s no particular reason for this, but I’d really love if everyone knew how to just do a basic waltz,” Natasha explained, speaking over the noise of her family enjoying brunch. Turning to Stephen, she added, “Did you know my brother took ballet lessons with me in the summers, when we were children?”
“Did you really just ask me that as if I don’t know my boyfriend? As if I don’t know my best friend of 18 years, Natasha?” Stephen asked lightly. “Of course I did.”
“He was good,” Natasha replied. “Surprisingly.”
“Hey! I’m good at lots of things,” Anthony protested. “When do we get to meet Darcy?”
“I’m picking her up from the airport at 5am, so probably tomorrow,” Natasha said. “We’re going to be here for another day or two and then we’re leaving for Paris.”
"The City of Love,” Stephen said dramatically.
“Is it weird that you saying that reminds me of a song from that Phineas and Ferb episode?” Anthony asked.
Natasha looked at them as they both dissolved into laughter. Pointing at Stephen she added, “Why do you encourage his cursed behavior? Stop doing that. Stop.”
++++
Music was already blaring in the dance studio when the family tumbled in, Natasha’s eyes lighting up at the energy in the space. A few dance instructors were milling around the room, standing in an unusual formation almost akin to a shield.
Anthony found that odd but didn’t fixate on it, already beginning to tap his foot to some upbeat ballroom music.
Natasha scanned the room, assessing the space to make sure there would be enough room for her accident prone family to bumble around each other. Smiling at one of the instructors, she declared, “We’re all here, if you’re ready for us.”
A tall woman at the front of the formation clapped her hands and smiled. “Great! Do any of you have any ballroom or other dance experience before?”
“My brother and I took ballet lessons as children,” Natasha replied.
“Did you?” A new voice from the back of the group asked. A brunette with a dazzling smile stepped out from behind some other instructors. “How are we getting married next week and I didn’t know that?”
Natasha sputtered, looking back and forth between Yelena, her family, and the other dance instructors before launching herself into her fiancee’s arms as people applauded.
“Is now a good time to bring up my ballroom dancing experience?” Anthony asked, trying to keep his voice low.
Natasha glared at him from over Darcy’s shoulder. “Why do you always have to step on my moment?!”

Siren ~ Harrison Osterfield
Pairing: Harrison Osterfield x Siren!Reader, bit of Tom Holland x Siren!Reader
Summary: Singing at sea is dangerous if you don’t know the creatures that lurk beneath the oceans surface.
Wordcount: 2k
Warnings: Siren stuff, implications of rape, nothing explicit, mentions of death, angst.
Masterlist
There hadn’t even been a ripple in the water. Not the slightest wave to announce the arrival of the beautiful woman that swam before him in the water. Tom stopped humming, his eyes widened when he saw her. She gave him the sweetest smile he had ever seen.
“Was that you who sang so pretty?” her voice was soft and her tone melted in his ears, making his brain go mushy. The sound of her voice made every other sound he had ever heard appear dull.
“Eh yeah,” he answered unsurely. He bowed down from the back of the ship, studying her face. Plush lips, beautiful eyes, and soft skin. Not a blemish on it. “Who are you?”
Her giggle was heavenly. Tom had never heard something so pretty before, and in that moment he was sure he would never hear something as pretty ever again. Somewhere in the back of his head alarm bells rang. Mermaids weren’t to be trusted, they were vile creatures. But something as stunning as her couldn’t be vile. He pushed the thought far away and focused back on the creature before him. Her tail was iridescent, it seemed to change colour before his eyes. Her giggle died out, and she swam a bit closer to the ship. To Tom. The ship seemed to sway beneath his feet.
“I’m Meri. What is your name dear?" He hated pet names, but he couldn’t find himself to correct her.
"Tom" he stumbled over his words.
"Hi Tom," she showed a bright smile, "you were singing, can you sing more for me?” she said, pushing her hair away from her face. Tom had never been unsure of his singing voice, but with her listening…
“Please,” her eyes seemed to take him in and he leaned closer, further over the railing. Her eyes were big, a blue greenish colour. It seemed like all the stars reflected in them. They were enchanting.
“Okay,” he said.
He stopped, but she seemed to want more. She had swam even closer, and now her arms were on the railing of the ship. She hung on the side, he could reach out and touch her if she wanted. Her eyes bored into Toms, keeping him focused on her.
O lovely rose
My sweet soul
Don't leave me to die
In courtly love
“Sing some more,” she didn’t need much longer, he was almost fully under her power. Taking him would be a piece of cake, only a matter of time. Just a few more seconds and he would be lost. He seemed so innocent she almost felt sorry, but she knew even the most innocent looking ones were terrible once given the chance. No mercy. Tom opened his mouth and started singing again, his voice securer than the first time.
Rescue me already
From my pining
Heart of my heart, don’t leave me to suffer,
O beautiful rose
Oh my sweet soul
The last sentence she sang with him, her voice high and seducing.
“Don't leave me to die in courtly love,” her hands went up to his face, bringing his lips in for his final kiss,-
“Tom! Get away from there now!” a man came running toward the back of the ship, and she felt Tom slipping through her fingers. Damnit.
“Tom go back to the room, I’ll deal with her,”
“But Harrison she,-”
“Was going to kill you, go Tom. Please,” the man said. Meri watched as Tom turned around and walked out of sight.
"Get lost mermaid," his voice was harsh and raw, a sharp contrast with her sultry tones.
"Now tell me, dear Harrison, why would I do that?"
"Because if you stay around I am going to have to do something about it," Harrisons right hand slipped to the knife on his belt. Meri was still calm and collected, a soft smile gracing her features.
“What are you gonna do then?” she asked, letting her tail float in the water.
“I might kill you,”
“And yet you men always wonder why it is we target you,” she sighed, rolling her eyes.
“What do you mean?” confusion laced Harrisons voice.
“Why do you think we hate you? Not because of your pretty faces,”
“You are evil creatures,”
“No we are not,” Meri sighed, her tail disappeared under the water. She swam more upright. “We might be monsters, but there are not many in the waters who are fully evil dear. Most of us have a motive,”
“Do you?” he sounded bitter.
“Yes. But I should be leaving, thank me later for sparing your life,” suddenly the water before him was empty, like she had never been there.
Harrison stood at the rear of the ship. They were at sea for two weeks now, sailing back home from business in the states. They would be on the ship for at least a week more. Tonight was the first night he had trouble sleeping. His encounter with the mermaid last night had kept him on the edge all day. Meri, Tom had told him her name. Harrison had always been better at foreign languages than Tom, quickly realising it was Finnish. Meri, sea. The name suited her kind. Evil mermaids. Her words yesterday had stirred something inside him. Most of us have a motive.
“What are you thinking about?” his head snapped up. There she was, floating in the water before him, a playful smile on her face. “Frowning causes wrinkles,”
“Couldn’t sleep. Why are you here?”
“I saw you standing there, looking miserable as can be, so I thought I might as well keep you some company,”
“Oh,” Harrison wasn’t sure what to say.
“You know, not so long ago I was where you are now. Standing on the back of a ship, staring into the darkness.” she said, changing the subject.
“So?” What was she trying to tell him? Harrison was confused.
“Well the danger for me wasn’t in the water. It was on the ship. I hadn’t expected them to try something, but sadly, men can’t be trusted.”
“Men can’t be trusted? What happened?” Harrison wasn’t sure if he would like her answer.
“What do you think happens when a woman is alone on a ship with twenty men? I thought my status would protect me,” she laughed bitterly, “It didn’t.” although her words were bitter her face was carefully neutral. The boy seemed for a loss at words.
“Is that how you ended up,” he vaguely gestured to her tail.
“I tried fighting. Injured one of them badly. They took it to the captain and I was to be set overboard. Fighting is strictly forbidden. Touching what isn’t yours to touch, not so much,”
“Oh god,” his face had turned pale from her horrible story, but she still seemed relaxed..
“And when I fell into the water I thought I’d drown, but instead I felt nothing. Black out and then,” she flopped your tail. “Here I am,”
“I am so sorry that happened.”
“See? I do have a motive. And a pretty good one,”
“Sorry that happened to you. Not all men are like that though,”
“No, not all of them,” she said, her voice small and weary.
“So you are all some kind of fallen women,” he was startled by her loud hiss. Fangs appeared and all of a sudden she wasn’t as pretty anymore. As quickly as it came it went away. A sad look remained.
“Fallen women. That’s one way to look at it. It’s getting light again, the sun's gonna get up. I’m leaving.”
“Will I see you again?” the question left his lips without him even thinking about it.
“Perhaps,” and with that she dove under, and with a flash of her tail she was gone.
The next evening Harrison stood on the rear of the ship. His eyes were fixed on the water, searching for a movement in the water. His meeting with the mermaid yesterday had been in his head all day. He hadn’t been able to sleep after she had gone, and he had only gotten a short nap this afternoon. He didn’t know why he was so fascinated by her, but he hadn’t stopped thinking about what she told him.
Mermaids were always described as terrible creatures, monsters. His parents told him all about it. Mermaids are vile, evil creatures that had as only purpose killing innocent sailors. But her origin story seemed to turn it all around. Was she the one to blame? He shook his head, trying to forget about the warnings. He opened his mouth, and started singing softly.
Something moved in the water, and he stopped singing.
Now is the month of maying,
When merry lads are playing, fa la,
Each with his bonny lass
Upon the greeny grass. Fa la.
“That could be fatal, Harrison,” he heard her voice before he saw her. Her voice was just as sweet as last night.
“Is it?”
“You have no idea what is in the ocean, or who might come up to the surface,”
“Sorry,” his cheeks turned a sweet tone of red.
“Don’t be, rather be careful,”
“We were warned today,” Harrison slipped out.
“What do you mean,”
“Warned for you,” she remained silent, “Mermaids, another ship closeby has lost a man to you,”
“I see. And, what did they say about us?” her question made Harrison clearly uncomfortable.
“Well, that mermaids are monsters,”
“Do you think I am a monster?” she shot back.
“No.” his answer was short but sure.
“I wish I was that certain about it,” a bitter smile flashed across her face, “I was going to drown Tom you know,”
“I don’t think that is your fault. You were made to do this,”
“I like your positive view on it, but I am a monster Harrison,” The sadness in her voice made Harrison’s heart ache. Why was she so sad?
“I don’t think you are a monster. Sun up is coming, see you tomorrow?”
“Sure.”
She was conflicted. Her instincts told her she was playing a dangerous game. She should not go back to his ship. He was almost out of her territory anyways. But she wanted to see him. She wanted him. Him and him alone. But she knew that was egoistic. He had a life on the shore. He had friends, a wife perhaps? Maybe a special girl? And even if he wanted, who was to say if the turning process would work? There really wasn’t a thing she could do, she had to let him go. But one last time…
“I almost thought you weren’t going to show up,” Harrison said when Meri resurfaced.
“I wasn’t sure either,” she said, “This is the last time we see each other.”
“What? Why?” he was confused, “We don’t arrive at the port for four more days.”
“Because you are leaving my territory. It was nice to have met you Harrison,” her voice showed the most emotion he had ever heard. But he understood. “I wish it were different. I will try to keep your ship safe until you reach the border of my family’s territory,”
“Thank you Meri, for letting me get to know you,” he said. She extended her hand, and he unsurely shook it. “And thanks for not killing me I suppose,” They laughed. The remaining hours before dusk were spent talking and laughing.
“Can I,-” Harrison hesitated, “Can I kiss you?” She didn’t reply, instead wrapping her arms around his neck, pressing her lips against his. The kiss was warm, soft and sweet. A goodbye.
“You might be the only one who ever kissed a siren without dying straight after,” she joked, before wiping the tear of her cheek. “Goodbye Harrison.” Before he could reply she dove under, to never be seen again.

1) Drama preferito del 2020: Someday or One Day
3) Un attore e un attrice che hai scoperto quest’anno: The Romance of Tiger and Rose e Someday or One Day
(precedentemente postata da belsmultifandommess)
Zhao Lusi.
He Ming Li, sorella maggiore del protagonista. [SPOILER] I primi episodi... l’ho odiata. ODIATA. Giuro, mi ispirava istinti omicidi, speravo soffrisse immensamente.
6) Drama che ti è piaciuto meno: My Holo Love
8) Protagonista maschile preferito: Someday or One Day
9 ) Protagonista femminile preferita: Under The Power
10) Miglior Coppia: Soulmate e Someday or One Day
11) Miglior scena d’azione: Flower Of Evil
14) Hai droppato drama? quali?: King2Hearts, Su Yu e Tribes and Empires
Quest’anno in modo particolare, ho detto addio a ben tre drama. Tribes and Empires.
15) Miglior Momento comico: The Romance of Tiger and Rose
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQwewLaDdiA
Bonus: My Unicorn Girl.
16) Miglior bacio: Lost Romance
Ero veramente senza parole.
17) Miglior Villain: Flower of the Evil
18) Peggior Villain: To Get Her
Ops, ferite infette. L'ho detto che lei è un medico? Perché lo è. In teoria. Ah, no. Ops, il drama è finito.
20) Miglior Colonna Sonora: The Romance of Tiger and Rose
22) Miglior scena WTF: Someday or One Day
[SPOILER SPOILER!]
24) Personaggio meno intelligente: Lie After Lie
IDIOTA.
25) Miglior personaggio comico: Psychopath Diary
26) Miglior Second lead maschile e femminile: Lost Romance e Romance is a bonus book
27) Peggior Second lead maschile e femminile: Princess Silver e Autumn’s Concerto
28) Miglior momento triste: Princess Silver
Autori infami e ingrati.
30) Miglior Bromance: Someday or One Day
31) Miglior attore e Migliore attrice: It’s Okay Not To Be Okay e Someday or One Day
It’s Okay Not To Be Okay.
34) Quale personaggio vorresti essere e quale no?: Romance is a Bonus Book e Kleun Cheewit (2017)
37) Di quale drama faresti un rewatch adesso?: Someday or One Day
38) I 3 attori e le 3 attrici più belle: Kleun Cheewit (2017), It’s Okay Not To Be Okay, Lost Romance; Someday or One Day, My Unicorn Girl, Love Better Than Immortality
Donne: Yaya Urassaya Sperbund (Kleun Cheewit), Seo Ye Ji (It’s Okay Not To Be Okay), Kelly Liao (Lost Romance).
Uomini: Greg Hsu (Someday Or One Day), Darren Chen (My Unicorn Girl), Li Hong Yi (Love Better Than Immortality).
Avrei potuto vincere facile e scegliere Someday or One Day, ma no… doveva essere Circle.
Ho visto My Unicorn Girl nel classico momento giusto.
40) Peggior attore e peggior attrice: Love By Chance 2 e The Bride of Habaek
43) Se potessi resuscitare qualcuno…chi sarebbe?: Someday or One Day
44) Un oggetto/potere/abilità che vorresti: To Get Her
