"To some people, that may seem like I’m stretching the point. A LEM is not a child, it’s a machine and a machine doesn’t have a soul. We may yell at our toasters and give names to our cars, but in the end even a LEM is just a collection of wires and circuits and nuts and bolts... I don’t know. I think each LEM does have a soul. It’s the soul of all the people who built her. Designed her. First dreamed of her."

My Theories For Upcoming Pulp Musicals Episodes ‼️
These are all based on how the first two episodes were directly inspired by existing 19th century sci-fi.
First off is the Mysterious Island, which is pretty much confirmed since half the crew was sent to the *same* island as the one in the books! (Ie Lincoln Island)
Tumblr media
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is functionally a sequel to The Mysterious Island, given the ending of the book including one of the major characters from TTLUTS. (Not gonna name them cause I'm betting they'll show up in the episode!!)
Tumblr media
From here on out there's no proof, I'm just going with vibes.
War of the Worlds maybe they finally get back to New York, only for the Martians (or whatever Kal's people is) attacks. 1870s is around the same time that Mars came down to Earth after all!
Tumblr media
The Things that Live in Mars One of the first instances of genuine Speculative Evolution, courtesy of HG Wells himself. If Mars attacks, then maybe Rose, Samuel, Margaret, and John ends up there too! Again it could literally be Martians, or Kal's people.

From the Earth to the Moon this feels like something that will happen at some point considering that this whole journey started with them making up a lie about life on the moon, then escalating into going to space and then time travelling.

anyway i'm just thinking about the fact that our hbowar homies are all obsessed with band of brothers, the pacific and now masters of the air --
(and spiritually by extension generation kill although it's not a tom hanks production), however --
have you ever watched 'from the earth to the moon'??? because that shit was sick. and soooo underrated. and if you love the band of brothers soundtrack by michael kamen, then you're in for a treat.
it's a space show instead of war show (the way that band of brothers is a follow up to saving private ryan, this is a follow up from the apollo 13 movie). AND it has tony goldwyn as neil armstrong, bryan cranston (YES BRYAN CRANSTON) as buzz aldrin, and cary elwes as michael collins???

Remembering Jimmy Buffett 1946-2023
Musician and businessman Jimmy Buffett has died at 76. I never got that into his music but I certainly respect that he had a 50+ year music career and possibly the most devoted music fanbase, seriously Parrot Heads are up there with Dead Heads for musician devotion! He also had loads of business ventures like his restaurants and hotels.
He also was featured in and executive produced last year's documentary Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story, which I got to review. He also had small parts in numerous noteworthy films like Repo Man, Hook, the mini-series From the Earth to the Moon, and Jurassic World.
The link above is the obit from Hollywood Reporter.

So I’m reading De La Terre À La Lune and I’m surprised it introduced a human antagonist after it being exclusively the Gun Club trying to shoot a bully to the moon

Since it's Moon Landing Day, I feel I have to remind everyone of the existence of the excellent miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, produced by Tom Hanks. It's on HBO streaming and has lots of very cool episodes about the Apollo program. Check it out!
