As cameras becomes more normalized (Sarah Bernhardt encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use cameras because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by manufacturing companies. I paint not because I want a painting but because I love the process of painting. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

if i have to explain to you that using a camera to take a picture is not the same as using generative ai to generate an image then you are a fucking moron.

I’d like to take a moment to clarify the purpose of this blog.

I don’t view my posts as “content” and I’m not here primarily for the purpose of engaging with followers or other blogs. I really hardly even look at my dashboard anymore, and I don’t always check my notes.

This blog is more of a way for me to keep records, to save and organize photos and videos that I like and to remember how I was feeling at various times in my dogs’ development.

I am, of course, cognizant of the fact that I’ve somehow accrued 15,500 followers over the years, and I do make an effort to be kind to people and to answer questions if they haven’t been asked before and/or if it involves some aspect of the dog world that’s difficult to learn about without a mentor and direct experience. I also have made very dear friends here on Tumblr that have followed me into my real and personal life.

I do not, however, answer most of my asks, especially if they are questions I’ve answered before. I’m not really interested in people having parasocial relationships with my dogs or with me. I am not very interested in notes or prestige, though I am glad that many people derive comfort from my blog. I love when people add something funny to my posts or share fanart, but I’m mostly just here for me, and that is not likely to change.

So, if I don’t respond to your asks or comments, it’s nothing personal, and if you’ve sent me a sweet message, I probably enjoyed reading it. I just don’t have the desire to engage with people as “fans” or watchers.

I’m just a lil guy who loves her dogs and wants to remember all the stuff we’ve done together. And occasionally, when I’m up to it, I do enjoy providing information on breeding and conformation because that’s the kind of info I would’ve killed for when I was brand new.

You’re all wonderful people, I’m sure. I’m just not here for you.
