Death Come True now available for Xbox One - Gematsu

Publisher IzanagiGames and developer Too Kyo Games have released and Xbox One version of full-motion video game Death Come True via Microsoft Store for $15.99. The PC version is also now available via Microsoft Store.

Death Come True first launched for Switch, iOS, and Android on June 25, 2020, followed by PC via Steam on July 17, 2020, PlayStation 4 on October 15, 2020, and PlayStation 5 on September 19, 2024. A physical edition is also available for PlayStation 4 in Japan.

Story

In a hotel room, there is a man lying on the bed. He wakes up to the piercing sound of the phone ringing. Picking up the phone, he hears a message from the hotel concierge, “If you have any trouble, please visit the front desk.” He doesn’t even know why he is in the hotel. In fact, he doesn’t remember anything at all. As he begins to look around, he suddenly finds a woman tied up and unconscious. The evening news on the TV shows the man himself, allegedly wanted as a serial killer. Then comes the sound of knocking on the door.

Collect “Death Medals”

Each time the protagonist experiences a new “death,” you can collect “Death Medals” based on the way he died. Depending on the number of the medals you collect, special movies called “DeathTube” will become available. Try and collect them all!

Publisher IzanagiGames and developer Too Kyo Games have released a PlayStation 5 version of full-motion video game Death Come True via PlayStation Store for $15.99.

The previously unannounced PlayStation 5 release comes over four years after the game’s initial release. It first launched for Switch, iOS, and Android on June 25, 2020, followed by PC via Steam on July 17, 2020, and PlayStation 4 on October 15, 2020. A physical edition is also available for PlayStation 4 in Japan.

Interactive movies; a type of game where you watch a series of events play out and then make a choice that changes the course of the story; have made a big comeback over the last few years after their initial boom in the mid-90s. From the popular narrative adventure games such as Life is Strange and The Dark Pictures Anthology, to Netflix’s cavalcade of interactive tie-ins for the likes of Black Mirror and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, there’s a strong interest in games with simple mechanical inputs but the potential for many different stories and outcomes.

While there are many big names involved in this genre at the moment, it’s always worth celebrating the independent studios who manage to produce small, compelling adventures. Among these is She Sees Red, the debut title of Russian developer Rhinotales and a very solid crime thriller vignette.
