Invincible OC - Ian Cantation/Magic Man (UPDATED)

Backstory:

Ian Cantation was not born into the kindest of circumstances; orphaned from birth, his mother dying not long after delivering him and his father not in the picture, the boy was instead raised in an underfunded and rundown orphanage in the coastal town of Port Glasgow, Scotland. His early years were marked by hardship and intense loneliness, enforced in part by bullying from older boys and part by his then undiagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder. Distant from his peers, Ian instead found solace in the books of the orphanage's library, taking particular interest in the great works of Gothic authors like Mary Shelley, Robert Louis Stephenson and Bram Stoker.

At the age of seven, however, his life would change dramatically. During his latest harassment by an older boy, Ian struck the bully; but to both their surprise, bright tongues of fire shot from his hand as it made contact, burning the other boy's arm badly. But this accidental maiming also attracted the woman who would be his saviour.

Less than a week after the incident, a mysterious woman by the name of Yesenia Martinez arranged to adopt him, effectively rescuing the young Ian from an increasingly hostile environment inside the orphanage. Mexican by birth, Yesenia also arranged for Ian to immigrate to the United States with her; but rather than travel there by any conventional means, she instead teleported them in, making the truth of her clear to him.

Yesenia was a magician, one of many across the world, and she had recently purchased land in the city of San Diego on which she might build a home for herself and her son. And build she did, erecting a vast and strange house that was many times larger on its inside than on its outside. It was here that Ian learned of his own magical potential, where Yesenia tutored him in both normal subjects of education like mathematics and the English language and the study and practice of the arcane arts, nurturing his power as a magician while also developing him as a child.

When Ian was old enough, and with the reluctant consent of his adopted mother, he enrolled in F.J. McKinley Middle School, where he made his first and tentative steps towards forming a social life outside of his home, as well as receiving a properly structured education, allowing Yesenia to focus more on tutoring him in the ways of the metaphysical arts outside of school hours.

Ian was a quick study of magic, learning at such a rate that surprised even the seasoned Yesenia. By the age of eleven, he decided to put his skills to, in his words, "better use"; creating a makeshift costume, he went out to fight crime as San Diego's newest superhero, Kid Wizard.

His short tenure as Kid Wizard marked some of the happiest years of Ian's short life; he used his abilities to save countless lives, worked with other heroes like War Woman and the Teen Team, and likewise flourished in his civilian life upon entering Joaquin Rodriguez High School. But this happiness was cut short when, in the latest of many fights against a minor villain, Ian's arm transformed mid-punch, and the resulting blow hit hard enough to almost completely decapitate the villain, killing them instantly. This change, brought on by the tumult of his maturing to adulthood, revealed to him the truth of his heritage; Ian was half-demon, and his father was none other than Satanas, a powerful demon and the personification of mankind's wrath.

What followed was a long and difficult process of self-realisation, culminating in him switching to a costume that blended his human and infernal roots, as well as the addition of a fabric demon companion (affectionately named 'Cloak') charged with protecting and assisting Ian. With both the powers of Hell and his skills as a magician on his side, Ian protects the world, and the worlds beyond, as the Matchless Magic Man!

Every ending is a new beginning. When everything is according to plan, the source collapses and starts dying. The Fates cover the body with Their veils, and the monstrous trasformation takes over the rounds of the original condition. Instead of dying, the source becomes the predefined monster, consistent with the narrative. The Fates dissipate, and choose one of the beings present to become the next source. This being automatically zeroes their determination points.

Caius Lennox, Toreador of New Orleans. Pre-chronicle bio below.

Born to a single mother in Miami, Caius grew up adoring the stage, theater, and performance in general, fostered by his mother's insistence on dragging him to every community theater and park performance she could. She encouraged his artistic pursuits and the two were terribly close. Idyllic, in a way, but a vampire story rarely stays as such. Heart disease took her suddenly when he was 13.

Left alone, he was shipped off to his nearest living relative, his aunt Renee, living in a family home deep in nowhere important, Louisiana.

Renee was in many ways, the opposite of his mother. She resented caring for her sister's boy, and her religion became an excuse to berate and abuse him. It was an evening two or three years into her care when he found a brochure for a conversion camp in her mail. That night he ran away to New Orleans, no further hesitation. Anything would be better, even living on the streets.

Caius survived, the next few years, barely but survived all the same. He eventually turned to work for a brothel, just to keep food in his belly and a room to sleep in. It was bleak, a parade of johns and people using him, but it was living, at least.

To escape the feeling of just surviving to the next day, to find something he could connect with the old parts of himself, he began to frequent local gay clubs. Seeing the drag queens on stage, he found something that resonated so terribly within him, he couldn't live without it. To be a diva, a star, surrounded by people like him, embraced by the night, it clicked. "This is what I am meant to be."

Caius began performing, then, as Clover Clarke, the girl who could be everything he never was. Caius was low-key, she was this ditzy, lovable slut, kind and loud and one never to be looked away from. Any money he got, whether from johns or tips, anything, was quickly funneled back into this newfound passion, resonating within him.

This was the stage that put him on the radar of Prisma Rowe. She met him after seeing one of his performances, and they kept running into each other. Caius couldn't explain it, but she was magnetic.

Prisma was, as she put it, "From a little bit of all over," not native to the city but had been there some time, performing in a rotating handful of punk bands, mostly on guitar and vocals. She took Caius under her wing, letting him stay at her place and telling him, "Don't worry about all that other stuff. Do drag. I'll take care of the rest."

Given a place to stay and even funds for his work, he blossomed. He happily learned to deal with Prisma's quirks (slightly unhinged at times, never, ever, go into her room during the day, and sometimes he'd have to care for her after a particularly rough bender, among other things. Honestly she was kind of a mess.) and eventually, she asked if he'd like to have her help to be better than ever before, to be something truly spectacular.

He agreed.

She Embraced him into Clan Toreador.

Several years later, he's a mover and a shaker in New Orleans, no longer a fledgling. Caius has decided it is time to start making a name for himself and leave his mark on this city.

Dib Membrane (Doomsday AU Character Summary)

Dib is a 16 year old boy who is the main character of the series. He loves researching alien reports, the supernatural, cryptids, and other mysteries. His dream is to uncover and expose supernatural entities so that he can become a famous paranormal investigator. You can usually find him taking notes in his notebook, recording audio logs of his reports, or even searching for cryptids in the woods.

Dib's clever, strategic, and extremely observant, looking at things from a whole different perspective than most folks. His problem is that he leaps to conclusions too often and rushes into things without thinking. This gets him into a lot of trouble and for those around him.

Dib’s somewhat of an outcast among his peers, particularly known as a loser or freak. This doesn’t bother him too much, but often he gets lonely due to isolation. Dib’s socially awkward around folks but once you bring up anything involved with the supernatural he can talk for hours. It’s something he’s very, very passionate about which stems from a personal history with his mom. Although Dib is bullied, neglected, and doesn’t have any friends, he has a strong sense of justice and is determined to help and protect anyone, even at the cost of his own life.
