What is the whole celebrity crushes thing?! Like, are people being fr when they’re wanting to kiss/marry/ I don’t even wanna know these people who they’ve never met?!?
I was talking about how I don’t want to ever kiss anyone, and my art teacher asked if I would kiss this one musician I REALLY, REALLY like, and everyone was surprised when I said I wouldn’t kiss even him if given the opportunity. Like, he’s gorgeous, amazingly talented, and a sweet person, but that doesn’t mean I want to kiss him?!? That’s kinda weird….
So yeah. Celebrity crushes.

Finished my Knight of Pentacles card all quick-like (At least drawing-wise it took way too long for me to post this :') ). I've been trying to experiment more with some interesting angles/ foreshortening and that shit is fuckin difficult! Even with Clip Studio's 3D figures as a reference, I feel like the perspective doesn't really look foreshortened until I start shading and shit. It's kind of nerve wracking...
Now for card interpretations! As always this is gonna be under the cut since it's a bit of a read:
The Knight of Pentacles is defined primarily by their work. The knight in this case knows what they want and will work towards it with an almost ruthless efficiency. Day in and day out, they work, seemingly never losing steam or wavering in the pursuit of their goal.
While this type of routine is far from glamorous, the Knight of Pentacles has done the same tasks for so long that they've figured out every little trick to finish faster. They may not have a fancy title to go along with it, but their commitment has made them a master at their job.
While it's taken a long, long time to achieve what they desire, the Knight of Pentacles will get it in the end. With how much effort they've put in, they have to, right?
In terms of personality, the Knight of Pentacles is trustworthy and dependable. If they've aligned themselves to you, you can expect to have a loyal ally on your side.
Overall, the Knight of Pentacles represents a more low-key type of success. The kind of success that's built over a long period of time and through potentially boring or repetitive work. The Knight is earnest and kind, choosing to do what's right rather than what will benefit them the most in the short-term.
Reversed, the Knight of Pentacles has gotten lost in their work. With how long they've been doing the same thing every day, their initial reason for doing this in the first place has been forgotten.
Now, the knight is aimless and bored since every waking moment of their life is devoted to their work. They've neglected their needs in favor of 'doing what needed to be done' but were those 20 hours of unpaid overtime actually necessary?
There is a severe lack of balance when the Knight of Pentacles is reversed. Work has become the one and only priority and this situation is simply untenable. Something is going to break if things don't change.
When I choose a character for a certain card I like to make sure the reversed meaning fits with their character if I can and the Knight of Pentacles is no exception.
Majima in 0 is scarily good at his job, but boy does he fucking hate it! When working at The Grand, he barely has energy to do anything more than eat and sleep once he gets off work. It's soulsucking to manage that stupid Cabaret, but he does it because it's the only path he's been given to get back into the Tojo Clan. While this is very much indicative of the reversed Knight of Pentacles, we see plenty of the upright position as well!
When running Sunshine Majima's strengths absolutely shine (pun absolutely intended). He works his ass off to make the club successful and seems to derive as much joy as he can from it given his situation. Work is balanced with building friendships and doing things that are actually somewhat fulfilling to him personally.
I just found him so perfect for the Knight of Pentacles. It was fate or something, I swear.

regarding absence.
some personal musings around not having appropriate terminology to articulate some of my experiences growing up, and wishing that i had someone to talk to me about these things in hindsight. over the years, i ended up learning a lot more about myself and aromanticism through one of my oldest ocs to date, miyaka, who ended up being aro-spec herself!
i think it's a very precious experience to have a long-term oc grow with me, and be a reflection of how i explored my own identity. and of course, i'm always growing and learning, and it makes me excited to see how that may crop up not just in miyaka, but across all my ocs, art, and writing too!
this was drawn very casually and unpolished for aromantic spectrum awareness week. i know i'm at the tail-end of it / could even be late, but i definitely decided i want to draw something for it this year. i also had more scenes / depictions floating around in my head while working on this, but ended up excluding some things because i was running out of energy (and time). i was also challenging myself with making this a mainly-textless comic save for the end, so a lot of brainpower went into that and left me tired. >.>'
if you made it this far, thank you very much for reading, and i hope you have a lovely day! :D

tbh i think oda meant to reach wano and make it all about zoro the same way he reached whole cake and made it all about sanji. I mean like, at the very beginning, back when he made him japanese and then said "there is a country that's one piece's japan, btw, and that's not where zoro's dojo is" - I think that's why his original backstory is so simple, it was supposed to follow the same trend as luffy's and sanji's and turn into this whole grand thing once they reached wano and discovered that he's the only direct descendant of one of the last daimyo and also of the greatest samurai ever lived, those are great bases to start some form of conflict on? tbh? and also directly mirror our finding out that sanji is some form of prince himself, but then instead we got to wano and the only thing we found out on page was that kuina's relatives were from there, and everything about zoro is revealed in a sbs family tree with oda going "I don't think I'll ever say this in the manga at this point so here". Imho what happened was that oda wanted to form some kind of conflict between zoro's family rights/what was expected of him in wano and his belonging in the crew, but then the way he evolved as a character through the story made it so that his only plausible reaction to finding out all that would be some form or another of I don't care and you don't really write an arc on that, do you. zoro's so simple minded and goal oriented that it's impossible for him to have any serious drama that's not about luffy, at this point. I do prefer it like this, though? everyone in the fandom likes to draw comparisons and parallels between zoro and sanji one way or another but my favourite one is the narrative foils one and zoro's lack of a proper backstory and complications to his being part of the crew make for a great black-and-white situation with them. something like sanji's story being all about running from his past and zoro's being all about running towards his future, I love that so I'm glad this is the zoro we got in the end
still, would be cool to know what oda had planned for him exactly

me rambling about my specific efforts in writing and miscomm tropes and amangela below, feel free to ignore
Honestly me plotting out all these miscomm + angst tropes is both hilarious and uniquely tricky for me to actually write in a way I'm happy with bc tbh im a BIG proponent of "JUST. COMMUNICATE." as relationship advice. IRL i tend to lean a lot towards "hey you dont Need to date this person to be happy actually" and "at a certain point consistently bad communication becomes unhealthy and damaging and unsustainable for everyone involved regardless of good intent".
That said in writing and in tropes, I love writing and exploring people being disasters when it comes to their emotions and how they communicate (or dont communicate) them to others and loved ones. In a way romance/crushes/dates are fun and easier to do when exploring this because there's a lot of shortcuts/handwaving you can do/people will accept when it comes to explaining strong emotions and poor choices, but then resolving it happily/simply often requires the end state being. a relationship.
But again, clear and effective communication is critical for relationships (romantic and otherwise!!). So like. extended/ongoing bad decision making/communication choices are so fun to write but for me to feel satisfied resolving it happily with a relationship, requires it to feel very genuine and well intentioned and like. still plausibly healthy for the relationship long term. Like if I write something with actual angst/conflict, ideally I finish the story + resolve the conflict, and one way or another, it needs to feel like whatever situation led to this Will Not Happen Again.
So either i gotta commit to "communication is bad but they work on it and grow and improve", or "the nature of the relationshio has shifted so fundamentally to not have this happen again", or if I want to do a shorter story. Its sometimes easier to just do a rube goldberg machine of miscommuncation/delay of communication, or just a relatively short and explosive (emotionally) period of miscommunication...... 🧐
Anyway this is all made triply harder by the fact that Amanda (as a person) has made it clear how much she values and tries to practice clear and adult communication in her life. So if "actual characterization" matters, doing a miscommunication trope "accurately" to Amanda is. interesting. as much as accuracy can be a thing when writing rpf LMFAO. I think it would have to be based on her Doubling The Fuck Down.... and I think its plausible, but it means sometimes i write out a scene for a concept and i look at it and then go "hmmmmm. no."
anyway. this is just a ramble because i wrote a few interesting scenes based on disaster Amanda/Amangela miscomm but unless i can provide the structure/plot around it they will simply stay as scenes. Alas.
