NO SERIOUSLY. I MISS THESE. WHAT THE FUCK. WHERE IS MY SECOND DISK OF SPECIAL FEATURES. MY DIRECTORS COMMENTARY. MY THEATRICAL TRAILERS?

if it weren't for special features on DVDs i *genuinely* would not be on the path I am now. Some Studio Ghibli disks have a special feature called "storyboard mode" where the original animatic of the animation is played instead of the finished movie. That's what inspired me to want to be an animator! That's what lit that fire! Kids today are LOSING that! Give us the DVDs back! Give us back Xtra-Vision and Blockbuster and video rental stores!

And you can't even rely on a streaming service for movies because they can be removed at any time. I have my own collection of DVDs because of this fact. I have films you can't get on streaming over here because of whatever the fuck reasons. I have six disks of tobey's spider-man films; 3 film features, 3 special features. I have A Silent Voice. School of Rock. I have Into The Spider-Verse with a director's commentary. I have the Care Bears movie from 1985! KEEP YOUR MEDIA PHYSICAL. That way it can't be taken away for bullshit reasons.

I have a herniated disc in my back, but what made matters worse is that my foot broke two days ago and I need treatment, the cost of which has become very expensive due to the high prices we are living in.

Don't I have the right to live and see my grandchildren who left the country and preceded me? I am in pain and need your support, my friends.

Would you believe that a 70-year-old man would break firewood so that we could bake bread and eat?

But everything I mentioned can be imagined by the mind, but the occupation is forcing us to flee for the tenth time. This is beyond imagination, and now, due to the high cost of living, the cost of evacuation has become $550. So, please donate to me and take care of us. The matter is very serious.

Look here was my home, my husband's home, my children's home, and my grandchildren's home. Here, all the memories are in ruins.

“This is great, thank you” she tells the nurse in a slurred customer service voice, taking the offered slushy from her hands. 

She's been telling every nurse who so much as looked at her ‘thank you’ in a dazed yet polite voice. Manners still at the forefront of mind despite the remnant anesthesia and pain medication making her cloudy. 

John watches her take a look at the contents of the cup, her face falling immediately, twisting with a disgust only seen in old cartoons, overwhelmed tears springing forth as she looks toward the nurse with barely contained dismay.

“Um, what flavor is this?” 

Price shares a look with Nik, amusement plain on his face as he chuckles in the other chair beside her. 

“I think that's rootbeer, honey” the nurse says warmly, also amused, “ but if you don't like that we can get you blue raspberry-”

“Uggh yup, yup.” She slurs frantically, setting the cup down and pushing it far far away from herself, trying valiantly (and failing) to hide the growing distress on her face, eyes misty from the whirlwind of drug addled emotions. 

Ordinarily John would be less than pleased with his lambs panicking, having half a mind to tear everyone in this unit a new ass for any slight against her, his stress already high enough with her undergoing surgery as is.

The procedure was minor, routine practically, and the doctor had already swung by to check on her, assuring John and Nik that everything went smoothly and she'd be going home the same day, albeit a little loopy. 

John was still beside himself, never was a fan of the clean sterile environment, hated to be there himself, and hated it even more to see his loved ones there as well. Nikolai was just as much of an emotional support for John as he was their girl. 

She frowns, looking at John and then twisting to look for the other source of giggles, eyes falling to Nik.

“Is? Is that okay?” She sucks in a breath, lip wobbling just a little, her voice a perfect example of ‘scared, but trying to be brave about it.’

“I just don't really like root beer flavored stuff…” she reminds them pitifully. 

Nik reaches over, squeezing her shoulder affectionately, “She'll get you a new one milaya, take a deep breath.” he tells her  with a chuckle, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head when she does as she's asked. 

Her mood does seem to improve once the new cup is passed off to her, she snuffles at it before clumsily going for the straw, the thin plastic rolling around the cup despite her best efforts. 

John reaches over, placing a hand over the opening to hold the straw steady between his fingers. She flashes him a scrunched smile before sucking away happily, chewing lightly on the slush between her teeth when she cocks her head curiously. Her eyes glued to the sparkling gold of John's wedding band. 

She stares and stares, brows scrunched in deep thought. Slowly she lifts her own free hand, the monitor on her finger trembling along with her as she gazes at her own empty ring finger. 

Her heart monitor spikes. 

“Are we not married anymore?” she whispers, looking back to John, tears already escaping. Pure heartache on her sweet round face. 

And immediately, John would rather rip his own heart out and hand it to her than witness the heartbreak on her face again. 

He scoots closer to her, chair dragging against the tile before he takes her trembling hand. 

“Shhh shh, You still have me darling, we had to take off your ring for surgery, here” he tugs at the chain of his ID discs around his neck, revealing her ring laying snuggly against his chest for safekeeping. 

She stares hard for a long moment, her sniffles subsiding slightly before another thought occurs to her and she bodily turns to look at Nik, making John lunge to hold her side steady before she tears her stitches. 

Misty eyes fall to Nik’s hands against his lap. His fingers adorned with his usual rings, though specifically devoid of one on his left ring finger. 

“You're my husband too?” she asks Nik, sniffling uncertainly. Nik watches her, eyes wistful despite the small smile curving his lips.

“Not on paper, no milaya-”

Wrong answer.

A harsh sobs falls from her lips, their sickly girl flinging herself into John’s arms. He catches her with a small grunt, does his best to soothe her with a warm hand against her back. 

“Why are you crying sweetheart?” he coos, petting her gently, looking to Nik for backup.

“I don't want Nik to be mad at meeee.” she wails against his shirt.

John's eyes flicker to Nik, now it's his turn to wrench his heart out, he stands quickly, moving around the bed to hover beside John, bending lower to hold her pitiful face in his hands.

He swipes away her tears with his thumbs as she sucks in breaths, staring up at him with big watery eyes. 

“Dry your tears my love, see? I am not mad.” he attempts, pressing a sweet kiss to her forehead. She remains unconvinced, more sorry tears spilling over her round cheeks.

Nik tries to shush her again, kneeling fully to stay eye level with her. “Why would I be mad at you?”

“Because,” she babbles. “I married John and got him a ring and I love you exactly the same but I didn't get you a pretty ring. You deserve all kinds of pretty things, and I didn't even do the one thing and that's not fair.” 

John watches Nikolai carefully school the emotions on his face, a soft sigh sagging his friends shoulders.

“I know you love me, and you're the prettiest thing I will ever have solnyshka, no need for tears-”

“You don't want me to marry you?” her voice cracks, small and pitiful. 

Her words make both of them wince. It was a subject none of them had brought up. John had married her years ago, long before their relationship as a trio had bloomed into what it was. The only thing John would take back about it all was the fact that Nik was his best man and not standing beside her too. 

They just hadn't known. 

The formalities had never mattered between John and Nik. They'd been bonded since they were both young men, in one way or another. The timing never quite right until it was. But to her?

Nikolai should have had that title long ago, and John feels like a right bastard for letting it slip past him. For denying Nik, himself, and her.

It's plain as day in Nik's face, the barely hidden uncertainty, the hurt.  

John reaches over, curling his free arm around Nik’s back, warm palm pressed against his ribs. An anchor. 

For fucks sake he was their husband on everything besides paper. Nik was everything to him. To them. 

Nik spares a glance to John, taking one look into the warmth of his eyes before he curses under his breath “I did not say that, rude thing.” he scolds softly, emotions just barely wobbling his voice. He makes a show of chucking her under the chin. “I hold you just the same, kiss you? Is that not enough?”

John squeezes him tighter as she shakes her head furiously.

“No.” she snaps matter of factly, scrubbing at her eyes, a familiar stubbornness taking over as she looks him dead in the eyes. “I want everybody to know you're spoken for.” She reaches out clumsily, tapping her finger just shy of too hard against his naked ring finger. “Unacceptable”  she sniffs.

John cuts in before Nik can say another word, hand sliding around his back to grip his nape, squeezing in warning, not to force him into anything, but to tell the truth. “Our girl just asked you to marry her, love. What do you say?”

There's a pause, Nikolai’s big brown eyes flickering between them as they watch him with bated breath. One warm hand cradling his skull, the other gripping his arm for purchase as if they feared he would slip away from them. 

“Of course-” he barely gets out.

Their girl squeals, heart monitor spiking again as she throws herself at Nikolai, the big boy standing fully to crush her against his soft belly. 

John watches them with a softer elation, standing fully to squeeze in close, press a soft kiss just below Nik's ear.

“Good answer” John chuckles.

“Only answer” Nik whispers back.

SCORE THAT GOAL! — 17. under my umbrella

“and in last place is… (—)! which means she will clean up the equipment today! everyone else can go home now, enjoy your weekend.” your coach exclaimed. everyone else let out a sigh of relief as you threw your head back. you knew you weren’t the best at this sport, but placing last was plainly humiliating. and now you had to pay the price which came in the form of walking around the unnecessarily long field to pick up barely used equipment.

“maybe we need to have a one on one practice to improve your skills.” jeno had joined your side after grabbing his water bottle. while everyone slowly left, it was only you two left occupying the field. “i’ll pass on that offer for now.” you responded back and started walking to the multiple cones that were placed on the field. “alright then, see you next week.” jeno saluted you before exiting the field as well, leaving you all in silence.

practice went alright, despite not shooting a single goal today, you felt like you were starting to get the hang of the sport. you were relieved that you got along with almost everyone and how they were all willing to help you instead of ridiculing you for being so bad at this. at least this was better than sleeping around in art club, you thought. maybe not 100% but definitely some percentage. you were too busy dazing out that you barely felt the few soft drops of rain that had landed the top of you head. only when the droplets started to grow more rapid did you frown, looking at your left hand that held a disc cone, covered in multiple drops of water. “the sun was just out?” you spoke out loud, gazing at the sky that had somehow turned grey in a mere few minutes.

“great” you whispered, quickening the pace at which you were cleaning. you could’ve sworn the weather app said it wouldn’t rain today. you had no time to think too much about it, the rain had started to become a bit more violent by the time you collected everything. you quickly brought the equipment inside before going back out and grabbing the remaining equipment. “holy shit.” you wondered where this rain had even come from. it was barely bearable and you were sure if you stayed for too long you’d catch a cold. so you quickly changed into your dry clothing, hissing when you had no choice but to place your wet clothing in your bag, leaving all your belongings damp.

though you hadn’t expected the rain, you knew to always keep an emergency umbrella on you in these unexpected cases. you walked outside, umbrella in hand, making your way to the bus stop near your college. you looked up to see how far you were from the stop when you spotted an unexpected face. you halted for a second, your heart pace quickening as you immediately recognised it as jisung’s side profile who was sat on the bench at the stop. he wasn’t wearing his sports attire either, instead sporting a black jacket and matching black jeans. knowing you had to no choice but to go over there too, you started walking again.

jisung hadn’t seen you walk up to him yet. not until he decide to look away from his right and had faced his left to continue admiring the outside view. his eyes had landed on you who stared straight ahead of you, body a few meters away and umbrella next to you. jisung gasped and jumped back, not expecting you there. when had you settled next to him? “oh, sorry for scaring you.” you apologised and quickly created more distance between the two of you, not like there wasn’t already a huge gap. “it’s, uh… it’s okay.” he hesitated to respond back, still surprised to see you here. seriously, how long had you sat there for? neither of you talked for a few minutes and tried hard to look everywhere but each other before you had decided to start a conversation again. “hey jisung?”

“yeah?” he answered back, giving you a quick glance instead of facing your way. “do you know when the next bus is coming?” you asked. jisung shrugged, hoping you’d leave it at that. instead you had turned his way, waiting for him to continue speaking. “i don’t..” he mumbled softly and you hummed, accepting his answer. “normally the buses take longer on rainy days..” you started, looking up at the rain that was still pouring. “my guess is probably 20 minutes.” you kissed your teeth at the thought, eyeing your umbrella. “yeah, sucks.” jisung couldn’t tell if you were trying to hold a conversation or not, but he wished this attempt at whatever would end soon so he wouldn’t have to continue giving awkward responses back.

“i’ll just walk then.” you had stood up and grabbed your umbrella before you turned back around to look at him. “do you wanna come? we can walk to that supermarket and go our separate ways from there.” you offered. you had opened your umbrella and stood under the rain, turning to face jisung and waiting for his answer. you had made a good point about the buses taking longer in rainy weathers, and he did need to get home to finish of his sociology homework. the supermarket was also close to his house. the only issue? having to awkwardly stay with you under an umbrella in close proximity for a good 15 minutes.

“i…” jisung was hesitant and you were about to dismiss your offer and start walking off, but he surprised you when he stood up and walked closer to you and your umbrella. “thank you.” he said as he bent himself down to fit under your umbrella, making sure to push himself all the way to the edge, the umbrella barely covering him from the pouring rain. you held the umbrella his way. “you should hold it since you’re taller.” you advised and jisung complied, quickly grabbing the umbrella and more so holding it over you instead of him.

jisung couldn’t help but feel bad and as if he was intruding your personal space the whole walk. neither of you talked and instead decide to distract yourself with the sight of the view and the sound of the rain. it took a while before the supermarket came into your view and you had turned jisung’s way. “we can separate from here.” you spoke, looking up at jisung who handed you the umbrella and took a step back. he nodded, looking ahead. “yeah, thank you for that.” he responded back and you could feel the corners of your mouth lifting up into a grin.

“it’s nothing, i’ll see you next week. bye jisung.” you waved him goodbye and turned around, starting to walk your own way. you didn’t even let jisung say anything back. you didn’t even hear how he had told you goodbye as well, sending a very small smile to your back view. on his walk back, jisung wasn’t sure how long it hadn’t rained for, but by the time he reached his apartment, he was completely dry without a single sign of dampness.

It's been a while since I made a merch post 🙂First items I want to share are these adorable pin+acrylic stand sets featuring the Forgers in their resort island outfits from the cruise arc ❤️

Next is some merch from the Anime Extra Mission event from June. I got a clear file (which I scanned in a previous post), a fan, and a copy of the pamphlet.

The pamphlet has some nice content, including interviews with all the voice actors, transcriptions of the live reading scripts they did at the event, and a cool chart of all the current anime episodes. Here's a few pages:

Not sure if I'll ever get around to translating all of it, but detailed summaries of the live reading stories are available on the Spy x Family Fan Wiki.

Next is some goods I got from the Nijigen no Mori collab that's been going on in Japan. I got a hat, an umbrella, a mug, a water bottle, and a clear file (which I also recently scanned).

I was thankful that the hat just about fit my fat head/thick hair!

The umbrella is really nice too! I'll definitely use it during the three days a year it rains here 😅 I could use it for sunny days too I suppose, lol.

Next is the CODE: White home video release! I liked the bonus merch that came with both the Toho deluxe version (left photo) and the Amazon JP deluxe version (right photo). So I got both.

Unfortunately, I had a mishap with my copy of the Amazon version where FedEx delivered it to the wrong house! I got the notification that it was delivered, but it wasn't at my front doorstep, plus the photo they shared was of a completely different front door, so I started freaking out. I drove around the block trying to find any neighboring houses that looked like the one in the photo. After I couldn't find it, I submitted an issue report to FedEx. They said they would try to track down the driver and figure out what happened. I wasn't too hopeful and was debating ordering it again, but decided to wait a bit. And much to my surprise, the next morning the driver found the missing package...but unfortunately the house he delivered it to had kids who opened it already. So he brought it to me in a different box with all the pieces loose. Luckily everything was in good shape and accounted for...or so I thought. The deluxe version came with a lot of extras and I didn't realize until later that day that I was actually missing a couple of things, notably the nice slipcover box for the discs and the art booklet. I was of course really mad about this, but I was able to find someone on Mercari selling a copy of the movie with these items for a good price, so I bought it.

The booklet is really cool - it has concept art, key frame sketches, and other neat info~ Here's a few pages:

By this point I had three copies of the movie on blu-ray (one of which had fingerprints on the discs from the grubby hands of the kids who opened my package 😑 At least the discs still worked) So I gave the extras away to friends.

I threw in the below little lenticular bookmark with one of my Mercari orders. It was given out at this past NatsuComi expo in Japan.

finished part 6. what the fuck. spoilers ahead lol.

I can’t stop thinking about how jotaro’s last words were his daughter’s name. I’m actually ill over this.

Jolyne was his world.

In that moment where everything stood still, all he could see was a reflection of his own experience - knives, aimed directly towards his daughter in frozen time. Pucci read that part of his disc. He had to have.

Our stoic, multi part protagonist who’s infamous for keeping his cool, screams. We’ve seen Jotaro scared before, sure, but to this degree? He was mortified.

Jotaro didn’t ask for this. He endured insane amounts of trauma, repeatedly put himself in harms way, his life revolved around relinquishing evil stand users even after defeating dio. He dedicated himself to this cause. he wasn’t vulnerable for a reason. Jotaro didn’t want to show weakness, even to his family. But somehow, his traumatic memories of fighting dio were exploited.

After Jotaro was repeatedly told by anasui that he had one shot - a single attempt to take out pucci - or they’d all be goners… He chose to save his own daughter. He loved her so much but we never hear him say it. He gives her a stand, subconsciously carves Jolene’s name into his arm, saves her from Pucci’s bullets and has protected her since she was born - but we never hear him say he loves her. Just that he cares, and in his last moments - her name.

He chose her over saving the universe, because without her, there would be no universe worth living in for him. im sure he would do so each and every time if faced with the choice across every universe.

That choice postponed Jolyne’s death by a few minutes - but that was enough time for her to act.

Jolyne had nothing left to lose. All her friends were wiped out instantaneously and her father was dead. Of course she was going to sacrifice herself to help Emporio escape. It was her fate.

Jotaro paid the ultimate price, and everyone else did as well, due to his decision. Anasui, Hermes, and potentially Emporio. None of them had any say in it. By definition, he acted selfishly - but proved to both jolyne and the audience that he truly loves his daughter.

Jotaro could’ve died in morioh, away from his family, and they wouldn’t have known why he was there or the cause of his death. I’d like to think that during Kira and Koichi’s fight - he thought about Jolyne, and found the strength to stand. He had something to fight for, even outside everyone in that town. That act alone was him attempting to save her, and to continue to live on, so he may protect her.

Dio, Kira - all the stand users who posed a threat to him and his family’s safety. He wanted her to live a normal life, away from all this - and he dedicated himself to eradicating this evil.

I can’t help but wonder if Jotaro, in his dying moments, heard jolyne talk about how she can always count on him to save her… or if he was already dead. Maybe she knew he was gone, but just wanted to say the quiet part out loud. Like pucci - she knew what he had experienced through the disc - but didn’t want to use it against him. She wanted to thank him… for everything.

Maybe in another universe, he gets to save both her and the world, one last time.

This is my actual collection of CDs

I started collecting CDs in I think 2012. It’s small collection tho, I had more but I sold some and I really regret that because now the price of CDs is higher (the brand new ones)

Yeah you can see that I love SOUNDGARDEN and everything related to Chris Cornell… I also have a pile of my custom discs from 2014(?) and some of my stepfather ones from early 2000’s

I can’t even explain how much I was into Hole and L7 I always dreamed about having original ones in my collection especially L7s “Bricks are Heavy”

I almost forgot about Sub Pop 200 CD and lately I like to listen to this one because it brings so much nostalgia to me because I remember discovering more and more about grunge music and idk I felt a connection with this genre (I still feel)

My biological father had a lot of those custom discs and I remember the 9 y/o me and him driving his car and blasting Rammstein or old Metallica albums and then later when I was older I brought him my L7 CD to play in car but he didn’t like them… I remember my disappointment. He was a classic metalhead. I like those memories…

“Sometimes I don’t feel real.”

Price paused, the pen coming to a stop against his paper, he lifted his head to face the sergeant at his door.

“What do you mean Garrick?”

“I don’t- it’s just..” Gaz wasn’t sure how to word this, how to explain that some days felt less real than others, that there’s days where he had to hurt himself to make sure he was real.

“Sometimes I feel like I’m not…real? Like I’m dead or everything is fake. I don’t know.” Gaz scrunched up his nose, pursing his lips.

“Why don’t you sit down, Sargent?” Price suggested, moving his papers to the side, resting his arms on his desk, giving Gaz his full attention.

Gaz walked farther into the room and pulled the chair back from his desk, sitting into it slowly, unsure if he should really take the offer. Sitting with your superior and unloading your personal issues usually doesn’t end well. And if he’s going to be honest? Gaz isn’t too fond of letting his captain know he’s struggling.

Leaning back Price examined the boy, the way he hunched in on himself, an attempt to make himself smaller he’s sure, avoiding his gaze and instead focusing on picking at the skin around his nails, a habit the captain had noticed the man does far too often when he’s anxious.

“I'm not- I’m not real.” Gaz cringed, this fucking sucked. Why did he think this was a good idea?

“Course you are Sargent.”

“No. I don’t- you don’t get it. I fucking-,” he paused, taking in a shakey breath, he slumped down in his chair, crossing his arms.

“I don’t feel real. When I look in a mirror my face doesn’t feel like mine and sometimes I can feel my bones. I can fucking feel my bones captian. I can feel them in my skin. My skin is fucking crawling sir.”

Price made a hum of discontent, shifting in his seat he leaned closer, putting more of his body weight onto the desk.

Words were hard, that much was obvious when John tried to find them, and he couldn’t.

He opened his mouth, closing it once before he opened it again, “sergant..” he paused, “Kyle, you're not dead. You’re very much alive son.”

Gaz cringed at that, logically he knew he was real, knew there weren't bugs crawling in his skin, he knew logically his captain was right. But that doesn’t change the fact he didn’t believe him, or that he still felt that way.

He watched as Price stood from his seat, rounded his desk to face him before kneeling, his knees cracking and groaning as he did so, and he rested his hand on the man’s own knee, he looked at Kyle, his own face contorted in a face of either worry or concern maybe even pity if he really looked but either way he couldn’t tell, and he was scared what he’d find if he looked deeper.

“I know that, I just-” Gaz stopped, turning his head to avoid looking at his captian, instead focusing on the name plate on his desk, and maybe just maybe if he tried hard enough he could even melt it.

It felt like he was dissapointing his captain, that the fact he was struggling was a dissapointment to him, that the time and effort he put into him wasn’t worth it.

Price looked up at him, lines creased into his face, he ran soothing circles on the man’s knee with his thumb in an attempt to provide him with some sort of comfort, trying to think of what to say.

He thought for a moment, then two, then he sighed.

“Kyle, what's goin’ on with you son?”

Gaz shrunk in his seat, guilt sinking into the deepest part of his stomach, he didn’t like talking about this, he didn’t like talking about this at all. What made it worse? His captain never uses his name, and he’s already used it twice so far.

Has he mentioned how much he hated this?

Gaz swallowed, his throat felt clogged, “Told you, don’ know. Just- I don’t know.”

Gaz inhaled, then exhaled, then inhaled again. It wasn’t working. Why wasn’t it working?

Gaz sat up slowly, no longer sitting slouched, instead, he sat slightly bent over, his hands placed over his chest as he gasped for air, he furrowed his brows, slight panicked look crossing his features as he looked up at his captain.

Price shifted slightly, moving to grab his hands away from his chest, concern and worry etched into his face, “Garrick, easy son, what’s wrong?” He frowns, seeing the sergeant panic like this isn’t something he’s used to.

“M’ cant breathe, feels like I can’t breathe”

Gaz gasped unevenly, starting to hyperventilate, his breathing becoming more unstable, more panicked.

It felt like he was gonna die.

He didn’t want to die.

“Sargent, easy, you're alright, come here.”

He tugged Gaz out from the chair, pulling him onto the floor with him, putting his hand against his own chest, he took a deep exaggerated breath.

“Follow that yeah? Think you can do that?”

Kyle nodded, he took a deep and shaky breath, slightly rasping coming from his mouth as he breathed, his lungs were screaming for air at this point and his Price was starting to worry the poor boy would pass out on him.

Kyle leaned his back against the edge of the chair, the wood digging into his back, the slight jabbing helping ground him just a little, he closed his eyes, and if he concentrated enough, he could feel his captains heartbeat, the slow and steady thrum underneath his fingers doing well to soothe the restricted feeling in his lungs, doing well to ground him.

When he opened his eyes again he could see the pinched and worried expression on his captains face, and he huffed, his body felt exhausted, his legs were pressed into his captains in the small bit of space they were sat in between the desk and the chair that didn’t allow for too much comfort of two fully grown men.

“There we go son, deep breaths, you're alright now.”

When Kyle finally spoke, his voice came out slurred and heavy, the exhaustion clawing at his brain, “m’ sorry. Didn’t mean to-” he stopped, his brain felt fuzzy, it made it harder to form sentences that were coherent enough to make sense to the captain.

‘Your alright, yeah? Just a panic attack”

“M’ never had one before.”

“That’s okay. They can be pretty scary.”

“Mhm.”

He really didn’t have the strength to keep talking anymore, if anything, he really just wanted to curl up and go to sleep for the next eternity.

“Let’s get you out of this chair, get you onto the couch. How’s that sound?”

He nodded, watching as his captain stood and moved away from the space he was in, standing by his chair, hovering on the off chance he may fall.

He stood, his legs shook and they felt as if he’d been sitting on them for hours, he could feel his captains hand on his back, stabilizing as he moved away from the chair, being guided to the old leather couch in the corner, being laid down on it, curling up.

“Feel better?”

He made a noise of sorts, something between a hun and a groan to confirm.

He’d be quite content this being his eternal sleep if he was honest.

I have a headcanon that Gemma liked fighting games as a kid. i accidentaly wrote a lot about it.

Gemma loved fighting games ever since she was a kid. When she was 12, her parents bought her a PS1, as a reward for another year of good grades, and for the price of half a year of her allowance.

She didnt ask her parents for the game. She knew it was a weird thing for girls to like. so instead, she bought it off a classmate who complained that he didnt have the right console for it.

She only ever played it when her parents werent home, or when they were sleeping. At night, she would keep her controller under a blanket to muffle the clicking. But it felt good to be big, angry and strong, even when it was only in this fantasy. It felt good to mash the buttons. Setting free the movements that she forgot used to come naturally. tapping things with her fingers, twiddling her thumbs, bouncing up and down on her tiptoes.

her parents never figured out about the game. but one day they told her that she had been acting strange lately.

The years pass her, and by the time she meets mark, she barely even thinks about it anymore. Shes passionate about her job, and she tries her hand at a cool new art project every now and then. she reads books, writes papers, goes through homework.

One time, she tells him about it. Recounts a story about staying awake at night, sneaking into the living room and playing street fighter alpha on her familys playstation with no sound.

Mark wouldnt mind, he tells her, if she got back into it. The only thing waiting for her in the morning would be him and an extra cup of coffee.

On her next birthday, they go to a secondhand tech store. they had to drive out of town for it, but it was nicer like this. no white, burning lights. no huge hallways to get lost in. no screens constantly running.

When Gemma dies - when he thinks Gemma dies, time becomes a depressing sludge. snow-rain muddled with dirt that has the decency to splash under your feet and let you know its there.

in the midst of it, hes loosing his grip. He misses her, but he cant trust himself to grieve her right. He cant even trust his memory of her.

So here he is, frantically, pleadingly clawing through boxes. He stares at her photo, and it feels wrong. Its not her anymore. It will never be her again. Nothing in here is gonna be alive the way she fucking lived.

A sob wrecks his body. his hands are still in the box, pawing around uselessly. grabbing at anything, just to have something in his hands.

He closes his left hand and feels smooth plastic. when he wipes his eyes on his sleeve and looks down, he sees one of the PS4 controllers they bought together.

rummaging further through the boxes, he finds the console and the cables for it as well. He also takes the only game they ever bought for it, and carries it all upstairs to his TV.

Once he has everything set up and the playstation turned on, he opens the game discs case and pops it out. Staring at the title printed on it in the soft glow of the screen, he tried to remember why Gemma picked it out.

''Gang Beasts''. She thought it looked fun, and the writing in the back had said something about weird physics and cartoonishly gruesome deaths. She always liked trying new things, and something obscure like that sounded like a great place to start.

His hand is still shaking slightly when he puts in the disc. he starts up the game, and sure enough, it is what it says on the tin. humanoid characters with physics like jello. he customizes his character, tries to start a game on local mode- to access online mode, you'd need some sort of a subscription that he doesnt have the nerve for right now- but something doesnt work. it isnt working.

Only after a few minutes he realizes there is no singleplayer option. No bots to make him feel better. Nothing to help him forget that he rots on the couch on most days, and in one of his only sober moments, he's still lonely as shit.

He has Devon, of course, but- and he doesnt blame her, but she's got her own life. he's glad when shes there, but when she isnt, theres just... nothing. And if his life feels like it can just fucking move on, then thats great, but he cant do it like this. he needs some fucking consistancy, people who see him as a person when he cant fucking feel it. Somebody who he thinks about, and it suddenly makes sense to go to bed early and eat enough and do his laundry.

🦋Chloe Price:

🤍| she'll joke around with you first like 'hey maybe you caught something from that snotty-nosed kid down the street' or laugh and plead that you don't sneeze on her or somethin'.

🤍| but seriously, she's fuckin' freaked especially if you've got a pretty bad cold or cough.

🤍| props to her though, she might be a bit overboard when you're sick but at least she cares.

🤍| she can't cook all that great but hey, if life ain't going so good for you then she'll somehow convince joyce to let you stay (much against davids wishes) and then you can have all the homemade chicken soup you want.

🤍| will still blast her music as loud as she wants unless you have a pretty nasty headache then she'll turn it down a little. (only a little)

🍂Kate Marsh:

🤍| an angel in disguise with the most beautiful white wings, she's there when you need her and will literally jump when you call.

🤍| will ask if your okay (like you literally aren't basically fighting for your life) then shake her head like a disappointed mother when she hears your hoarse voice.

🤍| if you're still trying to attend class or do stuff while you're sick, then she'll be the girl rushing after you and trying to get you back to your dorm.

🤍| i've said this before, kate can definitely cook but if you're not eating then she'll settle for buying fast food you like (because at least you're not dying of starvation).

🤍| checks up on you occasionally but not every second, she acts like if she even turns a lamp on that you'll die on the spot or combust into thin air.

🤍| visits you sometimes after class, either to bring you food or just to see if you're still alive and breathin'.

🤍| when she finally gets some time to spend with you, she'll sit down beside you and show you photos that she's taken of you before you got sick. (including the one of you in a banana suit.)

🤍| she's busy cracking jokes half of the time and when you joke back she'll hit you with a 'i'm not the one coughing and sneezing everywhere, am i?'.

🤍| she won't be able to check up on you every second since she's busy with class, drama & the tempest but will still try to make time for you.

🤍| will send you updates about what she's doing though, for example 'at drama lab, still doing good?' or 'class sucks, hope ur okay.'

🤍| she can cook, yeah! but rachel seems like the type of person to eat it out of the tin instead of making it homemade (she's just like me)

🤍| she's kinda like victoria in a way that she loves you but she cannot risk being sick, especially with all the shit she's gotta do.

🤍| he didn't get any affection from his father, ever. so it's gonna be hard for him to try and care for you when you're sick.

🤍| sometimes just ends up buying you stuff to make up for not being there when you need him, if you and victoria are on good terms then he'll probably just ask her if she can get you meds or anything else that can help you. (LAZYYY ASSS!!! D:<)

It took him a long time to understand that as a man it was okay to have power. Because he grew up entirely in the company of women, his mother and her sisters, he intuitively believed that the correct way was for women to have all the power. I recently saw re-blog about the Omela joke, and what makes it particularly layered, and honestly really funny is the fact that part of the story is the fact that the narrator introduced to child because of the fact the readers will most likely expect there to be a dangerous price to a utopia. It’s kept ambiguous if the child is actually real or if it’s just something that the narrator created because the audience expected it.

Honestly, it’s really does also add to the small problem when it comes to fanfiction believing at the biggest solution is to kill one of the Discduo to end the conflict since one can make the argument that they’re just a part of a bigger problem with the server. Like even if one of them is dead, how does it fix every problem in the server? I mean, Tommy being an exiled doesn’t fix everything, especially since there were still conflict like the butcher army. Same thing when Dream was in the prison now it’s just the egg and later on Wilbur.

I will admit it’s a bit bit of a a ramble mess based on a realization based on a joke, but I just really think that that comparison to those who walk away from Omela is such a perfect way to explain everything about the conflict and why that type of thinking doesn’t work for a long-term

c!dream believes that c!tommy is root cause of the problems on the server. and honestly? he had reason to believe that. the disc conflicts were almost all initiated by tommy (after tommy had traded the discs to dream fairly) for example. dream is solution orientated to fault. he wants to fix things and this desire gets warped into needing to control everything. but despite dream's reasons and there being some truth to it, solving the 'tommy problem' was never going to fix everything. and dream does know this because his other priorities lie with.... everything else regarding the revive book and dreamXD and the resets.

the reverse can be said about c!tommy, too. c!dream has become the symbol of all his problems because dream has genuinely caused him great distress and harm! a lot of tommy's problems do, in fact, stem from his relationship with dream. but just as many of them stem from his toxic relationship with c!wilbur, if not more of them. because dream has always been a bit of a blunt tool wearing tommy down while wilbur was much more subtle about his control and abuse. and tommy does have moments when he clearly realizes this! he does understand it's not just dream but dream is a sort of... less complicated boogeyman to point at.

neither of their problems will be solved by the other dying.

and honestly? neither would the server's problems. there's things outside of the two of them that would cause strife and unrest. not just the egg or wilbur but things like the cookie outpost and las nevadas and unethical slime cloning and people having nukes.

but i do think the server always kinda depended on the two of them being okay. tommy included here but dream especially. nothing can be right or fixed unless dream has a chance to grow and change and that honestly hinges on tommy doing the same and the finale shows that. they were so close.

(and obviously that doesn't mean either one has to forgive the other, like i'm heading this off at the pass but it does mean learning to let go and move on and be okay and at peace with yourself.)

This is a very niche question so I'll get if you can't answer, but have you seen any talk about Discotek's remastered Digimon Blurays on the Japanese side of the fandom? I feel like it might be the only time that America has gotten the superior Digimon product, and it's interesting that Toei hasn't made use of the much nicer footage even in advertisements.

(This is another question I can answer quickly, so I'm dropping by to hit this one. Again, I'm so sorry about radio silence, I'll be coming back as soon as possible!)

The answer is unfortunately short for not very good reasons: assuming Toei is even paying attention to what Discotek is doing in the first place -- and knowing them, they probably aren't -- the Japanese side doesn't want people to know about this. In general, the home video market in Japan has everything at extremely high prices, so the fact that it's actually cheaper to import a Blu-ray disc even with shipping is not something they want to encourage (this goes for everything, not just Digimon). This is the actual reason most localized versions of Blu-ray releases are worse than their Japanese counterparts; in many cases, the parent companies will actually ask the localization companies to actively make the footage worse to discourage Japanese fans from importing.

So now that Toei and Happinet have sold multiple boxes that cost several hundred dollars' worth of yen each with the old footage? They've put out reprints fairly recently (all of which are still significantly more expensive than the Discotek versions), so suddenly switching the footage would put a huge dent in the reprints' sales, and on top of that, you can imagine a lot of people who spent those hundreds of dollars' worth of yen on the old boxes getting really upset about it, because they'll feel cheated.

So as a result, Toei is at an advantageous position by pretending the Discotek Blu-rays don't exist in the first place. There is no better version with better footage; this is the best they have available, and those who have the existing Japanese Blu-rays have no need to worry about anything! And so for the average Japanese person, I imagine the only thing they're going to hear about is, at best, that the American side got their own localized release (from what I understand, they don't even have any idea how inaccessible the original Japanese versions have been outside Japan), so it's not going to be a big deal...

Oh no when I say pressure I mean I haven't been able to crack my back in over a year now, never been able to pop my hips intentionally and the times I have it was painful, if I sit wrong I can feel each notch of my spine due to the pressure, my neck always feels stiff, the whole nine lol. I feel like it would be a hassle initially working all that out pfft

I know it sounds bad and it is but I've lived with it since I was 18, so it's just kinda my daily now. I just like to imagine having 4 men who most of them know what they're doing to help, Soap would learn after that first scare probably.

I have actually tried to imagine OVER A YEAR worth of tension and pressure and I think my fucking hips started hurting just from that. I'm so sorry, love, that must be really messing with, like... everything. You're so strong for going against that and pushing through, wow. I probably wouldn't be able to.

But yeah, no, sure, Price is like totally relating cuz that man avoids doctors better than he avoids getting his spine all fucked up, so he also has years of fuckuppery in those intervertebral discs and everything. He's there to hear you out whenever you want to just vent about this shit, and he'll offer you advice on how to cope when it gets bad. Ghost will fix both you and him up, can you imagine though Price's face if you handle everything being cracked better than him? All red and panting while his Lieutenant pushes a vertebra into its correct place, but trying to put a brave face in front of you, because you didn't even squeak! How the fuck do you do that??

Soap sure learns after that first time, even though he's still apalled at how long you had to endure it. He's so impatient, he'd get fed up with constant stiffness and pain too quickly and would be clawing at the walls, and you went so long?? Honestly he'll probably try to coax you do some "stretching" and "flexibility training" so it doesn't get so bad again. But if you're actually limited in those departments, he isn't the one to push. He's the one who tries to be the most helpful in all the other aspects of it, like helping around the house if you get nasty pains or somethng. Also the god of nape and neck massages, that he can work out the best out of all of them!

And Gaz is just going all-out to be romantic about it. Ghost is practical and efficient, sure, and he is immensly loving with that little ambush of his or when he just lays you and Price down and goes ham on your backs (does he do it shirtless "for convinience?" yes he does. also he gets hard from being able to help you out, sorry), but Gaz is next level when he offers you a massage and help with fixing your hips up. Candles and shit, even music to drown out the cracking if you don't feel like listening to your bodily symphony. He thinks it's beautiful in a way, though - cuz that's the sound of him helping your body feel better. And if it gets too painful, he'll make sure to soothe you, tender kisses all over your skin and gentle hands stroking you while he praises you for being strong and good.

Also they find the comfiest chairs and matress for you 100% to help with the pains.
