Rewriting...Volume I

Today I'm rewriting/ fixing the movie Every breath you Take :

~*Spoilers for that movie , obviously.....~*

Tw: death, abuse, infidelity, mental health issues, suicide, grooming, incest...etc.

1- No abuse on the toxic romantic relationship between James and Daphne, they are just an insane little family of two siblings here they would be real siblings, no fake identify shit...

Also if you lean into horror and fucked up things,  maybe there was an incestuous relationship between the siblings. Like...If it was in GoT , why not here?

 2- Screw that he IS lying : he can both be truthfull and a psycho, he can be a dangerous man and have his sister killing herself , that isn't incompatible. I would make him the avengeful insane -maybe incestuous- brother he pretended to be from the beginning , but for real,  that would've been better or at least more interesting.

3- He wouldn't had killed her, she suicides as she was depressive, and her therapy and therapist sucked ,like i felt Philip was grooming her?

It would work for the plot, and It would be logic.

4- Screw underage abuse , Lucy, well that teen was dumb and needy ,she needed love or at least kindness, so she has instead a one sided crush on the man that is nice to her. And He IS nice because she reminds him to his sister , that he loved waaay too much XD. No relationship with an underage, ugh.

5 - Screw the mistreatment he did on Grace (the wife) on that car , instead of that, she enters his car, they confess their undying love, and then they run away together...They felt in love first because they both lost someone they loved (son and sister respectively) and they bonded for that.

Also I think Its a way better revenge to steal the wife to make Philip lose the woman he loves, just like he did. Also Philip keeps his daughter and has to deal with her, so he wouldn't be alone.

And I think that It would have been better than all the plot we got. They both Philip and James would be villains and heroes at the same time, you wouldn't know Who to root for, thats how complicated fucked up scripts get done. Ambiguity works wonders.

It would be more interesting.

So damn wild that the final song of the Snowball (and S2) was "Every Breath You Take."

It's such a sad and bitter song!!!!

Yet many listeners often miss the point and play it at their weddings and stuff, which the artist even said was the incorrect way to read that song.

Likewise, the Duffers knew that the GA would similarly misinterpret the end scene to be sweet and romantic for Milkvan.

But Byler are actually both crushed and yearning!!!

It's not a happy and sweet moment for Mike.and Will like it is for Lumax or even the way it's supposed to be for Milkvan.

Even without knowing the Vecna context of stalking/watching the party the song is NOT uplifting and sweet, like you would imagine a song would be for a new relationship.

Mike and Will were both faking happiness as they danced with girls, painfully aware of the hopeless nature of their crushes, yet feeling jealous and upset all the same.

Clever of them to blur Mike's face when he's paralleled to Dustin's pain:

That's why Mike's face during his dance with El is mostly in shadow and he looks so serious. If he was just feeling really happy, his face would've been fully lit and smiling, like Lumax both were. Instead, it's mostly just El whose face is lit up and smiling. They hide Mike's face from us.

We've talked about "every smile you fake" playing when Will is doing literally just that, but also the whole song opens "every breath you take, every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take, I'll be watching you" with the context of Mike openly staring at Will dancing with the girl with a mixture of seething jealousy and crushed heartbreak:

In closing, I think my very favorite use of the song is "every vow you break" - perhaps the vow to go crazy together?

Thinking again about the Kurtbastian Every Breath You Take. Now that we know it was never recorded, it bothers me even more, because if that wasn't Grant singing in that fake leaked version, then who the hell was it, and why can't I find his version of it anywhere?
