No but like every time I think about Splinter and what he had to go through just to keep the boys alive, my heart hurts for him so badly. Is he perfect? No not at all, but none of them are and by god does he love his sons.

The fact that all of them are alive, and grew to thrive despite the circumstances surrounding them is a testament of how much Splinter loves his boys. He raised four babies following the most traumatic time of his life, all alone with nothing but the sewers to house them (to hide them.) I feel like he’s not given the credit he deserves for all he’s done.

And I get that it’s easy to hold up his flaws and faults when it comes to parenting, I myself like looking into them because flawed characters are super interesting and said flaws make them more realistic and engaging, but he tries, and again, so many others would have given up on the boys or failed along the way but Splinter didn’t.

He’s their father, for all his faults he did his damndest to make sure they survived.

When the hero’s die, instead of moving on their spirits get sucked inside the mastersword, (don’t question how those who don’t use the mastersword get sucked in there) and they’re left to be a guide for the next hero to use them. Fi is there too btw.

Anyways as each person gains the mastersword, they also gain a handful of guides who can either be super helpful or super annoying.

In Talking Dad ep11, they answered what the dads’ favorite holidays are, and Glenn’s is New Year. There’s the feeling of “this one’ll be different”, the secret satisfaction of it being two holidays in one, it’s a good time to catch up and reflect on the year, all the sins, and he just finished his peak performance time!

(Bed Question I guess) My sheets are dying. The fitted sheet always pops off the edge of the bed (yes I’m sure they are the right size and in the correct direction), and as it gets older it has gotten kind of scratchy regardless of when it was last washed. The comforter has two big holes and a few smaller ones opening up; it has an inner casing that holds stuffing, so no leakage yet. I never used my top sheet anyway, so that’s in mint condition at least.

I can struggle with getting rid of stuff when I should, but I really think it might be time. Any recommendations?

I need to be clear. I am. A sheet snob. I can handle the idea that less expensive sheets exist but the brand I fell head over heels for is a pricier one.

So my absolute favorite sheets that I utterly adore are DreamFit. They have straps under each corner to hold the sheets on snug, deep pockets with strong elastic to go on basically any bed without a lot of excess material scrunching up on the surface.

My sheets are eight years old and look amazing. There’s a tiny hole in my bamboo ones where Korben attacked it but it’s never widened or run because the weave is just that good. I. Love. These sheets.

I’ve got the microfiber (I don’t love these but they’re an okay stand in for flannel), pima cotton (still amazing but not as silky as-), Egyptian cotton (truly my fav), bamboo (second fav, really all around great), and tencel (sooooo soft).

They even have a quilted top sheet for the tencel ones that is the perfect weight for a summer blanket. It’s only negative is the quilting lifted from the under sheet after a few years and so is harder to clean and manage but still in great shape otherwise.

I have no strong feelings or recommendations about comforters, mine is a million years old, but these are my favorite sheets.

I’m playing through Veilguard again and it really hurts when there are these really good bits and even small things I missed the first time through because I’m reminded that they had the potential to do so much more with better quality but instead we got this lukewarm game that leaves so much to be desired.

Finally got caught up with TADC and to no one’s surprise I’m now uncontrollably sobbing over the tragic doomed loving couple

Small but significant character moments that I actually really adore are from both the times we see the boys as tots. There is a reoccurrence that happens in both of them that I find so incredibly interesting.

For the turtle tot short, Splinter leaves the boys with weapons. In the short, Raph is the one who suggests they do “what Lou Jitsu would do” and Leo is the one who takes point when Splinter comes back to reprimand them. Leo, in taking point, is the one to defend them and get Splinter off their tails.

And then, in the flashback regarding the Kuroi Yōroi helmet, Raph is the one who grabs and throws “Skully” as a way to replace their missing ball which breaks it into pieces, but Leo is the one who speaks for the group and rushes into action to fix the teapot.

I love this for multiple reasons, but the biggest are how it shows that Raph has always been inclined toward the bold and fun and making the plans to include his brothers in what he loves and believes they’d love, whereas Leo has always been inclined to be the “Face” of the group and shoulder the attention even if it’s potentially negative all while coming up with on the spot attempts to fix the situation.

I’m gonna have to accept my brain may always be soup at this point. But it beats feeling tortured all the time?

Anyway, pointless tattoo plotting. For myself. I don’t think it’s wise to consider what is basically an upper arm sleeve for my first, but it’s fantasy land if it’s just in the sketchbook and honestly? Anything to kick at the art block.

It’s all birds: blue Jay and Baltimore oriole, with fresh spring green ash leaves and an autumnal red oak. And maybe a hexagon in there somewhere, I can’t sort that out.

Anyway, this would encapsulate a lot of my favorite things in one go. All that’s missing is bugs! And a loon and pines, but that’s going on the other arm!

Maybe it’s futile to say this, but this humble scribble is for my use only.
