Currently two seasons into white collar and I think my favorite part is whenever Neal says he knows a guy and then that guy is always Mozzie

Me: "Wow, this White Collar show is so much fun. What a great premise. Love the dynamic between this total square G-man and the smooth-talking conman." White Collar Canon: "We're all having fun here! Lookit the silly way they pulled off this con. Watch the G-man and the conman stretch and bend around each other. What's this? Pandora's box? Okay, we'll take a peek, but then we're on to the next." White Collar Fanfics: "Isn't every human interaction a tiny con? Is the law a just arbiter of morality? Is a good man still good if he does an evil act? Can sinners ever truly be redeemed? What is the nature of addiction? Is loyalty caused by affection or fear? Can love exist without trust?"

Me: "This is the best show ever."

I love the basic contrast set up in White Collar between Neal and Mozzie's style of conning.

Neal's the stereotypical, 'I'm going to get people to do what I want my being very likeable and charming and beautiful.'

Meanwhile Mozzie is, 'you know what's distracting and gets people to react without thinking? Being insane and super annoying.'

I love that Mozzie uses his own weirdness and leans into it so that no one really thinks anything of it. Oh, he needs an entire melon before he can take his regularly scheduled afternoon nap? And silk pajamas and blaring beluga mating sounds? That checks out. What do you mean he snuck out

One of my favorite things about white collar is actually mozzie’s relationship with the fbi

Like. Neal being friends with people at the fbi is a fun dynamic cause yeah he’s a criminal and he’s smug about it but he’s also really helpful and they’re a little family and they banter and it’s all great

But mozzie is just straight up. a criminal. They’ve never arrested him or anything but like. And he’s an insane conspiracy theorist and thinks all kinds of weird stuff especially about the government. But he’s Neal’s bestie and he lowkey helps even though he hates the feds so they just kinda keep him around but not really. Like he’s just there.

Mozzie is the real “confidential informant,” Neal is basically an imprisoned fbi agent with a criminal history. Mozzie is the one with connections who ends up helping them despite hating the government. It’s just so funny

This post was prompted by rewatching that episode with Gordon Taylor in season three, when they pull up the picture of Taylor and his crew and mozzie is in it and the whole New York white collar division just goes “oh come on, mozzie?” “Guys that’s mozzie” “oh shut up no way” “you have to be kidding me” and Peter is like “yes, yes, it’s mozzie” like his name just exists in the fbi and he’s as chill about it as he is with anything he’s paranoid about which is everything

Like they see a picture of a criminal crew, they recognize one of the criminals, and their first reaction isn’t to immediately start looking into what they know about the guy but just to groan like a family member just said a lame joke

white collar truly did it like no one else. A bisexual throuple. One of them is in a weird little codependent qpr. Who his girlfriend likes to drink wine and gossip with. And might have a bit of a crush on. Her husband most definitely has daddy issues and “a thing for smart leggy brunettes”. Did I mention the main character is a smart leggy brunette with a lot of artsy gay trauma?

one of the funniest things about White Collar is the fact that the only reason Elizabeth isn't a world class criminal is because she met Peter first
