So, as promised, I'm gifing the scene that made me believe that Tommy was already in love with Buck. He knows it's too soon but he can't help it.
So during the dinner scene, Buck talks about how Bobby is like a father to him, and then Tommy start opening up too. He starts talking about his complicated relationship with his father.
And the moment Tommy starts talking, Buck "drops everything" to listen to Tommy (metaphorically but also literally because he immediately dropped the cutlery he was holding to give Tommy his full attention):
Tumblr media
Then he listens to Tommy very carefully, with a little bit of concern until Tommy cracks a joke and Buck goes back to smiling.
Tumblr media
I'm not sure Tommy has ever been with someone like Buck, who looks at him like that, who's so attentive, listens to him carefully and makes him feel like he's a priority.
Tommy is comfortable with Buck and can be open him and share his vulnerable side (how he was jealous of the 118, how he wasn't always out and was lying to himself, and here, his relationship with his father).
I think Tommy already has strong feelings for Buck and feels so good with him and comfortable and he trusts Buck and Buck keeps proving to him that he's right.

Ok well i had the brief thought “what about an ER nurse Eddie au?” and then this popped fully formed into existence so fuck it Friday pt 2.. warnings for smoking and vague references to critically injured kids
“That doesn’t seem very healthy.”
Smoke curls up from the cigarette held loosely in Eddie’s hand. “It’s not, particularly.”
Buck’s hands are in his pockets as he strolls away from the glass doors out into the ambulance bay where Eddie is doing the mature, professional equivalent of playing hide and seek. He comes to a stop barely a foot or two away from where Eddie leans against grimy concrete. “Didn’t know you were a smoker.”
“I’m not,” Eddie sighs, “Particularly.” He looks over Buck’s face as he takes a drag, cataloging bruises and cuts. He hadn’t been the one to look him over before he was discharged, probably because he was out here avoiding having to do so. “Only when it’s- only after the bad shifts.” And only once a month, even if the bad shifts come again and again. He bought this pack in January, it’s stale as shit.
Buck’s eyes follow the smoke as it drifts skyward. “Rough one today?”
Eddie thinks he probably doesn’t have to explain to Buck that it’s sometimes better when a kid is dead on arrival so he doesn’t have to try his best to administer care he knows will be useless. He doesn’t have to explain a day where nothing goes right and he loses more people than he can save and he still has to walk away from someone’s parent or wife or sister, left behind forever in a waiting room on the worst day of their life, and go on to lose the next person too. Doesn’t have to explain why he’s out here, and not in there. “Mm. We’ve got this repeat customer, always hate to have him back.”
Buck’s eyes flick to his face before they settle somewhere around his elbow. “Yeah?”
“Yeah. He seems like a nice guy. I worry about him. He’s here too often.”
Buck doesn’t look up. “What was he in for this time?”
“Minor concussion. Bruising. Lacerations.” Eddie sucks cancer into his lungs. “Heard a house fell on him.” Exhales it into the night.
Buck does look up this time, eyes a darker blue out here in the shadows. “Part of a house. Just a staircase and the- like, the balcony, really.”
“Maybe he should stay away from those.”
“From houses?” Buck asks, half his mouth twitching into a smile.
Eddie rests his head on the wall behind him. “Guess that’s not really practical.”
“No.” Buck is quiet for a moment, one hand slipping out of his pocket and running through his hair. Eddie wonders what he looks like, when he’s not here. He’s more styled, sometimes, when things aren’t very bad. He wonders if he’s usually all gelled up and neat. Eddie kind of likes the loose curls. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“Making your day worse.” Buck looks genuinely apologetic, and Eddie shakes his head.
“The guy made it out okay this time.” Buck is just close enough that Eddie can kick at his boot with his sensible orthopedic sneaker. “You didn’t even need stitches.”
“That’s good.” Eddie’s left foot is pressed along the inside of Buck’s right, and Buck is staring down at them. “His favorite nurse was on break. I would have missed you if someone else had to do them.”
Eddie laughs, just a few bursts of soundless oxygen. “You gotta find new ways to see me before something happens that I can’t fix.”
Buck moves, taking the few steps necessary to lean against the wall beside him. Carefully, he takes the cigarette from Eddie’s hand, holds it between two of his own fingers, and takes a drag. Eddie watches it happen like he’s monitoring somebody’s pulse ox, and when Buck coughs he laughs again, louder this time. “Fuck,” Buck says, laughing too. “Thought that would be cooler than it was.”
“Smoking isn’t cool, firefighter Buckley,” Eddie says, taking the cigarette back and pulling from it again between smiling lips.
“Hm,” Buck says, grinning out into the night. Then he sighs, and rolls his head along the concrete to look at Eddie. “I think there’s nothing you can’t fix.”
They’re very close. “There’s lots I can’t fix.”
Buck shrugs like he disagrees. “I also think I’d like to find other ways to see you.”
Buck’s eyes are even more in shadow at this angle, and they’re the color of the lake back in El Paso that he and a bunch of kids went to after graduation, drunk off beer somebody’s cousin got for them, skinny dipping with breathless terrified delight under bright constellations. “Then ask me.”
Buck inhales as Eddie exhales. “What time’s your shift end?”
“5:30 AM. So, probably 6:15.”
Buck traces the two fingers he’d used to hold the cigarette down Eddie’s arm. “You wanna get breakfast with me?”
“Yes. I would.”
Buck smiles, and Eddie snubs out the cigarette on the wall between them. “I’ll meet you here?”
“Alright.” He takes a step forward, then a step to the right so he’s standing in front of Buck. “Two hours.”
“Uh huh.”
He should really get back inside. They’re understaffed, as always, and there are too many patients, as always, and not enough beds, as always. “See you then.” He doesn’t make any move to leave.
“See you then,” Buck almost whispers. He leans forward, and Eddie still doesn’t move, so he presses a tiny kiss to the corner of his mouth for just a moment. His lips are warm. Eddie hadn’t noticed it was cold outside.
Buck pulls back and leans against the wall again. Eddie smiles, puts a hand in his pocket, and walks back toward the doors.

Okay but Tommy drops out of high school — he told his father he was gay and he told him he could either be homeless or go to military school. He goes to military school and joins the army and he likes flying the helicopters because it means he doesn’t have to do any of the killing himself. And he makes some friends.
There's one guy who's like the squad leader who's a few years old and built like a Greek god and Tommy's young and a little bit in love. And they're friends maybe even family because this whole group of people spend every waking (and sleeping) moment together. And they all talk like a family and they all say they love each other and tease each other and it's nice. And one night it's just the two of them trading a flask of some sort of alcohol that Tommy doesn't know the name of and the man asks Tommy why he joined the army and where he wants to be in five years and Tommy trusts this man. He's half way in love with him so he doesn't even think twice before he tells the story about the time he came out to his family and his father nearly beat him to death before sending him here. And the conversation tapers off after that and he doesn’t register the change in the air but when he wakes up the next morning he’s being dishonourably discharged because he poses “unacceptable risk to the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability”. He knows what that means.
Tommy joins the fire department because he doesn’t know what else to do. He represses anything regarding his sexuality because he knows now that it’s wrong. He almost feels like he has a family again because his captain seems to like him and some of the guys are cool even if they say things he doesn’t agree with. And then he starts agreeing because maybe they’re right and he’s wrong and he’s just inherently wrong. So he follows their leads and is just straight racist because that’s how he can fit in.
And then a black lesbian woman joins and says she’s a black lesbian woman and Tommy doesn’t understand that either because you can’t be queer you just can’t be because it’s wrong.
But he nearly dies and and an Asian man saves his life and a black lesbian woman comes up with a better idea than any of them had and she tells them she’s no different and she is just as capable. So he improves himself he does and he tries to be better but he still can’t be who he is because the last 2 times he was honest about that he was betrayed.
Tommy leaves the 118 and “don’t ask, don’t tell” is lifted and he meets this guy he likes who likes him back and the 217 don’t seem to have a problem with the gender neutral pronouns and he slowly but surely lets himself open up again and be who he is and when the thing with that guy doesn’t work out because he’s moving to New York and Tommy’s not sure he’s ready to leave, it’s okay because his crew is there and they support him and he can still be himself.
#years later he flies a helicopter into a hurricane for the same people who stopped him from going too deep#into something he didn’t even believe in#and there’s this guy with a birthmark above his left eye and the widest smile there is#and he’s saying absolute nonsense and Tommy can’t help but smile#and there’s this other man too also gorgeous but not his type#who has all the same interests as him and he thinks if anything he’s made a new friend#and then the cute dorky guy calls the next day stumbling over his words saying his name is evan - from the rescue mission#and he asks for a tour of the 217 and Tommy agrees because how could he say no#and then he’s asking to go out but he already has plans but rain check? because there’s something about this guy that maybe…#and Tommy thinks that’s it but then evan turns up everywhere#and then things get a bit funny and Tommy feels like it’s his fault and he has to apologise#so he goes to Evan’s house not expecting anything just to say sorry#and Evans there looking absolutely amazing as always and he’s saying things that Tommy can’t help but read into#and he’s getting closer and closer and Tommy can’t help it#he kisses him and keeps his eyes shut just a moment longer just in case#he doesn’t want to open his eyes and see a disgusted look across Evan’s face so he stays closed just a little longer#but evan just looks like his brain has restarted and he’s nodding and joking when Tommy asks if that was okay#and they’re going on a date#and it hurts when evan says those worlds because tommy has spent long enough in a closet being someone he’s not and hurting people#and he can’t go back there he just can’t and he doesn’t want to be the one to force evan into anything so he leaves#and then he gets a call a stuttered invitation to meet at a cafe and of course Tommy says yes#he doesn’t know what he expects but it’s not this#Evans beaming at him with the brightest smile asking him to be his date to his sisters wedding#how can he say no when he looks like that (as long as he never buys coffee again)#and evan holds his hand even though everyone is around and ok that’s good#he’s late to the wedding and practically dead on his feet but he said he’d be there so he comes and the moment evan sees him#hes kissing him and he’s ok that’s great he could get used to this#bucktommy#911 abc#tommy kinard

Being a middle child in the Marauders fandom is tough because I understand Sirius’ desire to leave his family’s toxicity. But I also understand why Regulus felt he had to stay. I understand how much it hurt Lily to feel unloved by her sister, but I also understand Petunia’s jealousy. I understand Narcissa’s sense of duty, Bellatrix’s descent into madness, and Andromeda choosing her happiness over her family’s expectations for her.
It’s a constant roller coaster of emotions every time someone brings up the sibling dynamics of these characters.
It’s also a constant battle to try not to cry when I think about them too much.

not to get all "actually☝️" about it but. the whole point of this is the fact that it isn't at all eddie's fault and buck just doesn't know how to properly process or recognize his feelings and know what he's missing *until* he gets presented with a specific situation. in truth buck has no right to be mad at eddie for building bonds with other ppl and it's why he has to do some introspection. this is not a "oh no poor buck eddie apologize to him!!!" thing, it's about buck getting, for lack of a better term, a good emotional humbling. eddie deserves good friendships and relationships, full stop. and if he likes the way he feels when he hangs out with tommy then great!! he's his own person and not a tool to further buck's character. but you also can't expect buck to immediately recognize that because, again, and for the millionth time, the whole POINT is that he doesn't. so if it has to get ugly and uncomfortable and embarrassing for him to do so then that is what will happen and that doesn't make either of them bad people. this is not a blame to be passing around. it's just them being human beings

I will never be over the fact that Lily Potter was the one who defeated Voldemort in 1981 and she was never given proper credit for it in canon. We barely even know anything about her and she was the one who defeated the snake faced bitch the first time around. It drives me insane. Lily deserved so much better than what the books ever gave her.

9-1-1 Writers you may have this idea completely free of charge. Buck walks Maddie up the aisle for the Madney wedding. She’s trying to repair the relationship with her parents but for today she deserves to have someone who truly loves her walk her. Eddie is a groomsmen for Chimney just as the rest of the crew are up on his side. Buck sees Eddie dressed in a suit at the front of the aisle and oh he’s so in love and he’s only just now realizing it. But he pushes it down because today is about his sister and he can freak the fuck out about it later.

Do you think Lily saw Petunia and herself in Andromeda and Narcissa?
I always felt that Petunia and Narcissa were more passive, not unaccountable for their actions of course, with Narcissa being a muggle hater and Petunia being a "magic" hater, and both actively engaging in that hatred. But both their respective partners were much more aggressive. With Petunia and Narcissa, they were more willing to take actions that directly bypassed their hatred to ultimately protect their sons.
Petunia initially took Harry in because she wanted to be able to protect her family, which I feel the decision was made mostly keeping Dudley in mind, her beloved son. Thus associating herself with magic once more even though she absolutely loathed it. Narcissa, as we know from canon, outright lies to voldemort to declare Harry dead, because she wanted to keep Draco safe. They both took necessary measures to protect their family, although maybe it didn't really go much against their ideals, since Petunia still hated everything magic and abused Harry, and Narcissa probably took a calculated necessary risk to save her own. They don't suddenly become exemplary heroes or change their discriminatory views.
Lily and Andromeda are similar in the way that they both married the person they loved, which went against their respective "cultures" - the world and beliefs they were raised in. Andromeda marrying a muggleborn went against everything that represented the house of Black and was seen as a betrayal to her family and by extension, Narcissa. Lily marrying a wizard was perhaps the cherry on top of the cake which severed the ties between herself and Petunia, damaging the heavily complicated and practically non-existent relationship beyond repair, Petunia already having alienated herself from Lily due to not having magic. Narcissa and Petunia probably took their "leave" as a personal betrayal, more so than others, an act of abandonment. Narcissa obviously didn't find the actions of her family wrong. Petunia and Narcissa probably wouldn't have blamed themselves either, at least it was easier to lay the blame on the person that stole, or rather, corrupted their sister. This would've just solidified their hatred against muggles/wizards because of the misplaced guilt, as they felt it took away from them their sister.
Lily probably didn't directly interact with the black sisters in school, but I hc that she probably got acquainted with Andromeda after she graduated, being on the same side of resistance and both of them being a part of the order. Having seen how Narcissa was in school and then getting to know more about their family due to being closely associated with another Black, namely Sirius, it perhaps wouldn't be a stretch to say she found a friend in Andromeda. I do love to think of them quietly reminiscing about the bonds lost and the devastation of what could have been.

My thoughts on Chimney Punching Buck:
Okay so I’ve seen a lot of Chimney hatred becuz of this scene in particular and it upsets me becuz Chimney was right. I said it.
Now do i think him punching buck was right? No. Do i think he had his reasons and took them out it the wrong fashion? Yes.
Everyone seems to think that Chimney was being irrational in this situation and Buck was a holy saint who did nothing wrong. No. Buck was wrong this time.
Let’s look at Maddie. Maddie has been alone for years. Her parents abandoned her for their grief and she had to raise Buck alone, and then she entered an abusive relationship where she couldn’t get help for years. She was never wanted or desired. And yes Buck loved her but he was a child and couldnt provide the love she deserved.
Maddie running away from Chim and Jee was becuz she felt like she didnt deserve them. She didn’t feel like she was worth saving.
She NEEDED someone to run after her. To show her that she IS wanted, she IS needed.
Buck kept her location a secret from Chim becuz he still looks up to her like a child would to a parent in some ways. He has a bit of a hero worship for her in some ways and doesnt really understand the extent to which she needs help becuz shes been such a strong figure for him their entire life and hasnt really let him see her be weak.
Chimney on the other hand HAS seen her at her worst and knows her intimately. He knows she needs someone to love her with their entire being and thats what he did by running after her. She needed to know she wasn’t alone and Chim did that for her.
And Chim punching Buck was when he was at the height of his emotional breakdown. He was terrified, upset, probably running on very little sleep, of course he was going to snap. I don’t think he should’ve punched Buck but i don’t that makes him the devil.
And neither does him ignoring Buck. He’s obviously frustrated becuz thats his everything right there and he cant find her. She could be dead for all he knows and Buck kept it from him.
Both of them have their flaws in this situation but Chim knew what Maddie needed and Buck didn’t. And Buck’s not in the wrong for not seeing that, he just didn’t know and needed to learn that.

YEEEEEEES WE GET MORE TOMMY!!!!
ngl, I was nervous after the date (even if I totally get Tommy dumping his ass, and I am obsessed with how he managed to do it in such a non-confrontational way) but oh man.
When he showed up in that hoodie for coffee? Yees. Yeeeeeees. Thank you Tommy, Lou, and the clothes department.
