Regarding Ethan/p4perback

Upon reviewing the stream that Ethan/EJ/p4perback did on October 11th 2024 called "clearing up some stuff", there is a specific thing that he said that needs to be discussed because I have not seen a single person mention this. And yes, we are using names now. I will be speaking factually about this one particular thing Ethan said in this livestream and this thing alone. Yes, I have opinions on other things he said, however, these are down to my interpretation of Ethan's words and attitude and therefore do not have a place in this post. Maybe in the future I will speak more openly about other my opinions if I feel like it, but not in this post. I am in no way speaking on anyone's behalf either, this is purely from me.

At 02:34:32, Ethan reads out a comment explaining that the mod who made a thread about Ethan uses it/xin/they pronouns on Twitter (it has since made a post saying it does not use they pronouns) but told Ethan directly it uses it/its. Ethan then replied by saying:

"Maybe it's because it's a day-to-day thing, I know that there are people who are genderfluid. Or they just did it to trip me up. Could be one or the other."

As someone who identifies as genderfluid, I find it incredibly hurtful to insinuate that someone who is genderfluid or uses multiple pronouns or neopronouns would give someone the incorrect pronouns to "trip them up". This is disgusting and hurtful and it shouldn't take being genderfluid to understand why you should not say something like this.

The person Ethan was referring to told Ethan its pronouns directly and therefore he should believe that it was being sincere and honest rather than misgendering itself to "trip" Ethan up.

I'm going to address the rest of this directly to Ethan, not that I expect him to see this, but I hope people pay attention. Not everybody has a constant agenda to catch you out Ethan, I understand this stream was following a Twitter thread regarding you, however, I believe the mod/ex-mod wanted accountability for current actions as well as past ones. But its gender and pronouns have nothing to do with this. If somebody had said you told them you were using he/him pronouns to trip them up, you would be enraged and rightfully so, please consider this and look back at what you said in your stream.

You said this on a stream of hundreds if not thousands of people who look up to you and admire you and expect explanations for things outlined in the thread. Like I said, I'm not going to acknowledge anything said in that thread right now, but I understand it was a stressful situation to go through. You were tired, exhausted, and in pain from filming and travelling, but this does not excuse what you said about your ex-mod's pronouns and frankly, it would be appalling if you used that as an excuse. If you were tired to the point of saying things you did not mean in a stream where you are trying to be genuine, honest and authentic, end the stream. If you were tired to the point of accusing someone of purposefully misgendering itself for the same of tripping you up, please consider where this came from within you.

I appreciate you really tried to get its pronouns correct in the stream, adjusting to pronouns you are unfamiliar with and how to use them respectfully can be a struggle, I say this as someone who has had to be patient with a lot of people getting used to they/them pronouns for my sake, but you can be angry at someone without saying things that are hurtful not just to that person but to an entire community of people. I would expect better from you.

Finally, I want to end with a message to Ethan's fans if they have read this far. I have seen some a lot of people including Andy in the comments of posts on multiple platforms that about Ethan, who very clearly want to defend and support Ethan and see him happy. I think it is great that you support someone so faithfully and defend them. However, there is a portion of the community who fail to recognise that people don't have to like Ethan and they will have their reasons for this. We are entitled to our opinions. You are entitled to like Ethan, we are entitled not to. You can think of him however you like, I used to watch Ethan's tiktoks and like them and share them with friends, but you do not need to tell people they are jealous of what he has and that they're bullying Ethan for no reason simply because they don't like him. This post is not bullying, it is accountability.

Please give that same kindness to others that you say Ethan gives to his community. I know this saying is overdone but it is free to be kind, it is also free to be respectful and understand what spaces are for you and what aren't. Yes, people are talking about Ethan now and eyes are on him, but they are on you too. I will not stand for harassment and bullying for expressing how his words made me feel. Please be respectful.

Hazel is absolutely obsessed with the tiny desk concert look and I agree because OH MY GODS. Hazel loves the layering of the hair, and that there's a trash bag in Chappells hair. Her favorite part about the whole outfit is the socks but the little butterfly clip in Chappells hair is so cute to Hazel. 

Annabeths favorite is the Statue of Liberty look from the governors ball yes it might be because she's an architecture nerd but also she's a bi disaster mkay

Blitz absolutely adore the pink pony club outfit from chappells performance on snl. The seamless white dress that sparkles and looks like literal heaven is something that can't be hated by someone who loves fashion as much as blitz does. He loves the stripe of white in chappells wig and the bow on the side of her waist. Really the whole outfit is incredibly and he will not hesitate to tell you 

Georgie likes this look from either one of chappells tours or from when she opened for Olivia Rodrigo I cant remember but she loves the tassels (?) and the shininess and everything about it. This is the outfit an 8 year old would adore

Shels favorite is the snl look but without the hat. She likes the waist pieces she says they look like butterflies and she really likes the slick back look of her hair and then the curls messy in the back. It's a vibe. 

Sams favorite is the look Chappell had on Sabrina carpenters Christmas special A Nonsense Christmas. There's two pics because I absolutely adore this look. She's so elegant wtf.

Lavinias favorite is the dress Chappell had on when she was invited to perform with Olivias Rodrigo at one of her concerts. It's pink it's flowery it's sparkly, what more could you ask for? 

Cecil would've tried to recreate this makeup look and he would've failed miserably. The tights really pull this outfit together. The neck ruffle, the flowers in her hair. Cecil loves everything about it.  

Calypsos favorite look is the Marie ann look with the wig because a) it absolutely eats and even this 6000 year old girl can recognize an icon and b) calypsos a sucker for the flower embroidery on the front 

Gwen would've loved this like I don't know anything about her but she feels like the kinda gal to be obsessed with marriage culture and not in a "I wanna get married and have a big beautiful wedding" way I mean a "I know every aspect of this, good and bad, and am willing to be the backbone of the failing society" way 

Rip Lou Ellen you would've loved kaleidoscope. Rick can you give Lou a book and then make her a tragic lesbian I would love that please and thank you. Also the freaking star clips in this outfit are fiahkajda. Btw this is chappells kaleidoscope outfit and yes it's lous fav and it's beautiful. 

paolos fav is the angel look. Basic? maybe. but stunning? yes

Zoes fav is this blue cowboy look. It's shiny and she likes the color blue. Also the sparkles kinda look like stars... whoa who said that whattt

Bianca's fav is this wonderful look that is glitching and the backgrounds gone my phone is about to explode I apologize. The detail on this is insane. The tassels hanging from every end, the points and curves that really give it that alternative and crazy look. Rip Bianca you wouldve loved the subway.  

Dionysus but Mr D specifically. He's a queer icon and he loves the other queer icons as well. This outfit from the guts would tour film premiere is his favorite  because of many reason. First is the red mesh the entire dress is made off. Chappells whole red aesthetic really does remind me of red wine and shit and also I'm just grasping for ways to connect this to Mr d so bear with me. Also the flowers on the dress are so freaking pretty usgajfjwhwh love those. The black boots contrast great with the rest of the outfit and I know Mr d would like that detail. Prompt idea: all the other dancers gossiping about Percy and Annabeth being together over the duration of Sleeping Beauty and when they realize they aren’t together and when they find out they actually are

Clarisse was glad to see that Annabeth's rehabilitation in Virginia had been successful. When she told the PT team at City Ballet that she'd be handling her recovery privately, far away from New York, all they could do was ask her to check in on occasion.

The Sleeping Beauty had Annabeth making daily visits to the PT room to check on her newly-healed foot. But her alignment looked great, and the strength was back. The goal now was to prevent future injuries to the already delicate bones in her feet.

A healthy foot didn't seem to be the only thing that had changed since last spring.

As she gathered her things to go back to rehearsal, Clarisse caught Annabeth smiling and giggling (giggling for fucks sake) at her phone.

"Anything good?" Clarisse asked.

Annabeth shook her head. "No, just Percy being Percy," she said, before grabbing her bag and typing her response on her way out.

As she left, Chris entered. Clarisse had healed him from a nearly career-ending neck injury, a process that took over a year. Since his return to the stage six months ago, he also made frequent visits to the PT room. Chris's neck wasn't in pain anymore.

Still, he sat down on the bench as she examined him.

"She seems happy," Clarisse mused.

Chris nodded. "Rumor has it ..."

"Oh?"

He lowered his voice. "Rumor has it she and Percy Jackson have been sleeping together since she came back."

"Isn't it a bit soon?" Clarisse asked. Chris had been Luke's friend once, she knew, but Luke had done something to rupture that. Chris's neck injury and extended absence from the ballet only kept them apart more. Clarisse wasn't sure she'd heard Chris say a nice thing about his ex-friend in two years.

"I say, good for her," Chris said.

She thought Jackson was annoying personally, but he had to be better than Luke.

"Alright so, they're sleeping together for sure," Jason proclaimed as he and Piper left for the day.

"Gotta be," Piper agreed. The way the two of them looked at each other, flirted shamelessly ... if Percy wasn't getting it in, she'd almost have to laugh at him. Annabeth stared at him like she was ready to eat him alive. Piper knew Percy had zero self confidence, but he had to be able to see that at least.

A week later, Piper triumphantly texted Jason: Percy slept over Annabeth's last night! She told me herself

Jason responded: Do you think that was the first time?

Now that was a good question.

Katie had been firmly on the "they're not going out" side of the company-wide debate. She knew Percy. He didn't do casual hook ups, and when he was with a woman he wasn't very good at keeping it a secret. Sure, he'd given Annabeth flowers opening night, and then they were seen leaving together after Annabeth violently rejected her ex. But that ...

So maybe they were together. "But newly," she said to Drew, her dressing room mate, "no way has it been going on longer than a few days."

"How can you be so sure?" Drew asked.

"Percy loves a public display of affection. Hand holding, kisses goodbye, that sort of thing."

"It's been like five years since you went out. Maybe he's not into that anymore," Drew said, "maybe she's not into it."

"Maybe ... but I still feel like they wouldn't keep it a secret if they were together," Katie said.

"I don't know. The timeline is a little suspicious. Maybe they're trying to hold off for a little while," Drew suggested.

"What do you mean the time line is suspicious?" Katie asked.

"She was dancing with Percy when she called off her wedding. And she and Percy had serious chemistry during Jewels," Drew said.

"You think she cheated?" Katie asked. That was certainly not Percy's style. And it didn't seem like Annabeth's either.

"Who knows. All I'm saying is it's not totally unbelievable."

Ethan wasn't exactly sure what had happened between Annabeth and Luke. All he knew was that things ended suddenly and badly. He'd been called into Chiron's office and asked if he knew anything about their relationship. He'd kept his mouth shut about the pictures; Luke had promised him Annabeth knew. He wasn't into them, personally. Annabeth was hot, but not his type. Still, whatever she'd told Chiron about their relationship had been a good enough lie to get Luke to "retire."

"I think she was sleeping with Jackson," Luke told him after his move back west.

"What?" Ethan asked.

There was an unfortunate logic to Luke's claim, though. Sure, Annabeth had been so in love with Luke the entire time he Ethan had known her. But in the months leading up to the wedding ... she seemed so sad. She fiddled with the ring constantly, leaned away from most of Luke's touches, and rarely expressed excitement about the wedding. Ethan thought it was cold feet or just the stress of wedding planning. Or maybe she'd just been depressed. But maybe ...

"You saw the way they hung around each other during Jewels," Luke said.

Ethan still had a hard time believing Annabeth was cruel enough to cheat on him and get him fired.

But then she just about jumped into Percy's arms at the end of The Sleeping Beauty, kissing him behind the curtain as if they'd done that a thousand times. Neither hesitated to hold onto the other; there was no surprise in their body language. Just pure comfort.

Okay, Ethan conceded, they were definitely together.

I remember feeling like this episode (along with Friday Night Frights) was rerun a disproportionately large amount of times, but I don't know if it actually was; either way, I remember it well.

I particularly remember being really annoyed at how hard reversing the spell is made out to be, requiring a precise pronunciation, compared to the transmutation in Halloweird & the enchantment in The Date to End All Dates (II). Did they retcon the requirements of a counterspell or is S2 Benny just that good?

Clarissa is the first one who manages to get there because her father's blessing is still flowing through her veins along with his damn ichor, because the one who falls and who is mortally wounded is Percy Jackson, because she does not want to lose another friend, another piece of herself.

Somewhere in the distance, behind the falling, as in slow motion, Percy, she sees Connor and Travis's hair, almost flying from running speed and uncut for months. Their mouths move wildly, but the daughter of the god of war does not understand what they are saying, are they shouting pleas to their indifferent father, absolutely terrible gods, or just one simple but all-consuming "No"? All she can hear in her head is the subtle melody of twelve-year-old Percy's voice.

Her knees, bare from torn jeans, hit the ground without any sensation and she manages to grab Percy, soften his fall, hold him to her and a surprisingly soft bed of wild vines grows under them. Pollux looks like a rebellious corpse and whispers that Percy won't dare to leave them, that no one will dare to take him away.

And for a moment, all Clarissa sees is Silena - the beautiful, beloved traitorous hero Silena, all in those silky black hair, delicate swarthy skin and bright shining sea-green eyes. And at the same time, it's still Percy, because Silena was a graceful marble, not a graceful wave. And her face before she died was absolutely torn apart by the horror of her life, Percy's face - virgin-clean, like a cruel mockery of what he went through and how it ends. There is a frenzied howl that even Clarissa hears, and this is undoubtedly the voice of Annabeth, who is now losing both her brother and her soul mate. A golden glow appears and the battered body of the daughter of Athena is pressed into the ground by two calloused, tanned boy-is-no-longer-sunlight hands. Will is really crying blood. Katie walks with a slow, calm gait, her disheveled brown hair full of faded flowers falling over her hunched shoulders, her eyes like split pieces of lime ice. Her hoarse voice is a mixture of Catholic prayers for the repose and hymns in honor of the gods of the underworld.

Percy breathes hoarsely in her arms, plump lips blossom with fresh blood like luxurious roses and for some reason Clarissa carefully removes a strand of graceful curls behind a neat little ear. He looks directly at her, his gaze distant, at the same time too desperate, his restless mind desperately clinging to the remnants of consciousness. "Clar..i.." Claricy! Percy's laugh is like the splash of water when you plunge into the ocean - sharp, gentle and mellifluous. Clarissa remembers how the weight of the dagger she was sharpening left her palm and its cold was replaced by the soft warmth of the delicate skin of Percy's elegant palm. The pens of a real princess! Clarissa was laughing out loud.

"We have won," she says, she does not feel herself, she is a prisoner of her own body, which clutches the rods of her cage with trembling fingers. She wonders if the bitter salt is flowing down her cheeks and falling on Percy's face, if new tears of sorrow are mixed with the new blood of the victim "Dirtyface won't touch anyone else... We beat her up like an annoying third grader... I would never have believed that a primordial goddess would be a much more unsuccessful opponent than a twelve-year-old you". Percy is smiling for real, smiling as if he is actually seventeen and he passed the exam well or another ordinary miracle of youth happened - his lips are beautifully curved, it is a bright, clean, warm smile, his dimples are so adorable. [Her memories pop up like young dolphins - Aphrodite often visited the dreams of the children of Ares and she never thought of talking to them except openly. She stroked Clarissa's hair and told her that she had not met such a tragedy as Percy Jackson for a long time. She smiled-a mixture of Clarissa's perfectly straight mother's teeth, Silena's warmth and Percy's wonderful lips and talked about how he is a tragedy in all types of love].

"Ethan..." whispers Percy when his eyes do glaze over, and his body weakens, his chest rises and falls rarely, Clarissa stops breathing, "He's...." [Clarissa knew. Clarissa remembers how, in all the turmoil of the new war, Percy somehow miraculously managed to contact her and tell her that he was the legacy of Venus, the Roman hypostasis of Aphrodite. She remembers laughing and saying that she always knew only a blind person wouldn't notice that Percy looked like a real princess. She remembers Percy grinning ironically and saying that she was Mars for his Venus, and Annabeth was Vulcanus. Clarissa only found out later that Annabeth was not the first Vulcanus of Venus of Percy...]. Percy does not stop smiling even after death, but his eyes remain open - an elegant sea glass of the most beautiful shade of the sea wave held up to the bright sun. Clarissa covers his eyes as gently as possible with her palm, his skin is rough-wet and still warm. She presses her lips to his forehead and the salt on her lips is like an open wound. How does it feel being one of the camp babies Al? Do you have any friends?

Al: *scrunching up his nose* I’m not a baby. I hate when people call me that! Just because I’m younger it doesn’t mean that I need to be looked after.

Al: *frowning* Camp is… fine. It’s nice that I have a few people that stay with me and understand me. There’s- there’s Ethan, I think that he was one of my first friends here. He seems a little quiet sometimes, but I like that I always have him to talk to when everybody else ignores me. Like late at night, when I can’t sleep and everybody tells me to be quiet. I guess it’s nice to have someone.

Al: There’s also this girl called Annabeth. She’d been here for much longer than me, and I think that she learned a lot of cool things. She’s pretty smart, too, and it’s great that I can talk to her about all the “nerdy” stuff that other kids don’t like. Like science! Science is amazing. Oh, and did I mention that she’s a great fighter as well? Yeah. I think we’re pretty good friends, and she’d agree.

Al: Another person that’s been nice to me is Luke- you know, the head counselor. Although I doubt he’d consider me his friend. He’s just trying to be a good big brother to all of us. It’s difficult taking care of a whole cabin, I think.

Al: Speaking of cabins, there’s this boy, Chris, that me and Ethan spent time with sometimes. He’s unclaimed, like us, and I’ve always wondered why his dad won’t give him any signs. Oh, well. Luke says that most demigods never get claimed. So the Hermes cabin is sort of a really weird family, and we have to tolerate each other.

Al: I just remembered! There’s this new girl, I think Katie is her name. I’ll try to talk to her, too. Only because I know how bad it is to be lonely here and have nobody talk to you.
