Day 10 A-The Grey Ghost
Day 10 A-Great
Other Stories
Other Days
USCG Enterprise WCV-6 sat outside the Newport Shipyard, fighting off the urge to doze. It was a beautiful day, the sky was clear, with just enough of an ocean breeze to keep her cool. It wasn't often she could truly relax outside of port. Even now that she was in service with the Coast Guard, she almost always had aircraft aloft, patrolling the surrounding waters. She would launch her aircraft soon enough, but for now she was waiting.
The Navy had finally finished her successor. CVN-65, the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier. Enterprise didn't quite understand the concept, something about radioactive rocks making steam, but those in charge believed it was the future. CVN-65 was not only supposed to be the largest carrier afloat, but the fastest. Enterprise had been shown the stats for the new ship to bear her name, and she had to admit they were impressive.
A horn sounded, and she glanced up as a large bow rounded the corner. The ship that was revealed was nearly half again as long as her, over twice as wide at her widest point, and nearly three times her displacement. She was also brand new.
CVN-65 U.S.S Enterprise, eighth of her name was untested, had never seen combat, not even war games…but WCV-6 had a good feeling about her.
“Hello little sister, I've been ordered to oversee your sea trials.”
“Little sister?” CVN-65 glanced down at the lead tug guiding her curiously. “Aren't I the only member of my class so far?
The tug chuckled and spoke to WCV-6, “We hadn't told her about you yet, we wanted to surprise her.”
Enterprise chuckled, “Of course. CVN-65, has anyone told you the significance of the name you have been christened with?”
“The name Enterprise is one of the United States longest legacys,” CVN-65 recited dutifully, “from the first ship to bear the name serving in the revolutionary war,  to the latest and most famous of the line, the recently retired Yorktown class U.S.S. Enterprise CV-6, which served with distinction in the Pacific theater of the Second World War, becoming the most decorated American vessel of the war.”
The new supercarrier tilted her head curiously at the smaller carrier. “If it's not rude, may I ask what class you are? I don't recognize it, but you're oddly familiar…”
The tugboats and WCV-6 chuckled. “I've been refit since my Navy days,” the Carrier explained, “I am a Yorktown class.”
CVN-65’s eyes shot wide, “But that means…”
A whistle sounded and her Coast Guard Flag was lowered and replaced with the Flag of the United States Navy.
The Carrier smirked, “I was transferred, not retired.” She corrected, “and I’ve been temporarily given back to oversee your Trials. For the duration of your trials, I am once again, CV-6 U.S.S. Enterprise.”

Hey I've got a fic idea for anyone who wants to write it. A 5+1 is the general idea that I have in my mind.
Okay so one day on the bridge they are doing their usual stuff of u know almost dying because of alien things and Pike is giving out orders for everyone and without thinking he says something like "Michael, you and Sam go and find out what this weird goo is" out of pure habit and Spock being the grieving little emotional Vulcan he is looks devastated.
Pike then realises what he said and looks horrified and corrects himself multiple times with Spock's name.
They both leave the bridge and Erica is like.
"Yo, I think Captain Pike just deadnamed Spock" And everyone believes it.
Qué the crew of Entiprise being incredibly supportive of their Trans Vulcan friend and spock being confused.
Bonus points if you push it out all the way into when Kirk is captain and the crew telling him. At some point Kirk beats up an old Enteprise crew member who "deadnamed" Spock and Spock just spends years being confused.
At one point spock says "technically I'm not a man" in reference to his Vulcan biology but uhura goes feral.

ENT Rewatch Starlog, 5 May, 2024- Final Entry: Episode 4.03 “Home”
Archer and his senior staff are welcomed home where the Captain gives a speech reminding everyone of the 27 crewmembers lost in the operations to stop the Xindi.
Tumblr media
He prepares for a board of inquiry regarding the mission while reconnecting with Erica Hernandez, former romance who is about to take command of the NX-02 Columbia.
T’Pol asks Trip if he would accompany her to Vulcan and he agrees. They arrive at T’Pol’s childhood home where she is surprised to find her mother, T’Les, at home.
Tumblr media
T’Les informs her that she has stepped down from the Vulcan Science Academy, and is herself surprised that T’Pol has brought a colleague home. Later alone, she mentions to T’Pol that Koss, her betrothed, has been reaching out.
Reed, Mayweather, and Phlox are in a bar in San Francisco when they are accosted by humans who display ignorant prejudice against Phlox (because prejudice, xenophobia, and judging someone by race or species is ignorance and if I have to tell you that I wonder what the hell you’re doing watching Star Trek in the first place) which results in a fistfight. Phlox demonstrates an old Denobulan defensive posture inflating his face, which scares off the human dipshits. Later, when invited to the surface by Hoshi Sato, Phlox chooses to stay on Enterprise.
Tumblr media
Ambassador Soval seems to be out to get Archer during his inquiry, specifically about the Vulcan ship that was destroyed during their Zombie-like attack. Archer loses his cool and is ordered by Admiral Forrest to take some time off. He decides to go rock climbing but is joined by Hernandez. In the course of their climb Archer begins to display the inner turmoil he’s been dealing with since his actions in the Expanse, and tells Hernandez that he wants to be away form her for reminding him of what he used to be. She offers to help him find that man again together, and they kiss.
Tumblr media
Tucker is beginning to grow on T’Les, particularly after doing some repairs around home. Koss arrives and asks to speak to T’Pol. He reveals he will not break their betrothal, offering even to resort to the Kal-If-Ee  if necessary—the fight to the death for the bride. T’Pol continues to reject him until he tells her that her mother was asked to step down from the academy because of T’Pol making enemies in the Vulcan High Command. He says his influential father could restore her status.
T’Pol takes Trip to the statues near the Vulcan Forge and tells him she will marry Koss.  Later when confronted by T’Les, Tucker admits that at that moment he realized he loves T’Pol.  T’Les says T’Pol should know that. Tucker remains silent however, and tells T’Pol how wonderful she looks. She steals a quick kiss, and then the marriage proceeds.
Archer completes his hearing and stays after to apologize to Soval. Soval states he has listened to T’Pol and reviewed the case. He is grateful to Archer for saving not just Earth but the Alpha Quadrant from the Expanse, and shakes his hand.
Tumblr media
This is a very good episode giving us the closing to the Xindi storyline we needed. I know it’s beating a dead horse, but something like this I believe would have served the end of Voyager well. I especially appreciate the post-trauma reaction Archer is going through (something I have also experienced after my own service in war zones) and if I had to complain about anything in this episode it would just be that it could have used one more scene of him finding a little more reconciliation. The implication that he will be better because he doesn’t have to face it alone is great, but I think a little too much of the healing happens off screen.
Let’s however hear it for Ada Maris as Erika Hernandez (though she goes un-named here…and that’s dumb). Dispelling the old TOS line about the realm of being a Starship Captain being for men is great; I know we see her again, but it’s a shame season 5 didn’t let us see some more. I am very aware of the Beta Canon fate of the NX-02, and the evolution of her character, but would love to have some more just plain Captain Hernandez stories.
The Tri’Pol stuff here is the kind of thing that propels a thousand shippers (me too) and is so well played for the tragedy.  As much as I praise Ada Maris as Hernandez, let’s also applaud Joanna Cassidy (a science fiction legend herself) as T’Les. Not only do I immediately buy her as T’Pol’s mother, but she brings a calm a subtlety to match Jolene Blalock, that was too often replaced with arrogance for Vulcans on this show. But this?
Tumblr media
This is a knife to the heart in the best way.
Tumblr media
The introduction of a human xenophobia is good here, and wow do I wish it were less relevant to us today. I know this will play out later in the season with Earth First movements, etc, but even when this aired, I think it said a lot about what happened in the US after September 11th with many darker skinned people being assaulted in a blanket reaction to actual terrorists (my then brother-in-law among them). I wish we’d learned more in the last 20 years, but also hope we’ll learn more by 2154. Watching the news though admittedly gives me some of Archer’s pessimism.
But this brings it to an end; I have spent the last few months rewatching and reviewing the Xindi storyline, and for the most part find it holds up pretty well, perhaps even better than I received it then. There are certainly some missteps along the way, but it has definitely reinforced my appreciation for this show as a much stronger member of the Trek family than me as a dumb-ass continuity-obsessed gate-keeper two decades back might have thought. Glad I got better, and I hope we all can, honestly.  There is new Trek I love, and some I think really misses the mark, but in the end Star Trek is ALWAYS relevant, and all Star Trek speaks to someone.  I can’t fault that. Gives me faith of the heart.
If you’ve read these and enjoyed them, thank you for coming along with me. If you've like to find the rest they are all tagged "enterprise rewatch" and "xindi saga" on my blog.

Enterprise F Headcanon
So on the Picard season finale, I loved everything...but the decommissioning of the Enterprise F in favor of the G. It put the Enterprise F out of service nearly a decade before Star Trek Online. But we are Star Trek fans, and when we don't like something, we headcanon around it. I’ll wite my headcanon about the Titan A/Enterprise G headcanon later (if there's interest), but here's my headcanon on the F's return for the game.
Tumblr media
The Enterprise G serves faithfully up to early 2409, when she is scheduled for refit to replace her older parts with the latest tech. While Starfleet was loath to have the Enterprise out of service during a conflict with the Klingon Empire, some of the Enterprise's components were nearing 30 years old.
Tumblr media
The Utopia Planitia Yards had been re-opened in 2405, and the Enterprise G was to be their most important project yet. When the G pulled into drydock, the yards had the new components already on site, with a projected duration of two months.
Tumblr media
That would change when a KDF fleet led by Commander Alveck attacked Utopia Planitia using codes stolen from the USS Dewitt. This would have undoubtedly been a complete loss for Starfleet, had it not been for the Enterprise G. Captain Seven of Nine and several of her command crew had been visiting their ship to inspect the progress when the attack came. The Enterprise was warp incapable, but her captain had no intention of running.
Tumblr media
The KDF force had expected a defenseless target due to the stolen codes. Instead they found Starfleet's enraged flagship standing between them and victory.
Tumblr media
The attacking force vastly outnumbered the Constitution III, and she couldn't protect the entire yard, but the Klingon quickly grew frustrated as ship after ship fell to the Enterprise's fire. But the Enterprise was taking heavy damage and her shields finally collapsed. The bird of prey Daqtagh locked torpedoes on the crippled flagship, certain of their victory, but it was not to be.
Tumblr media
Lieutenant Ash'ara of the bird of prey D'tek watched in shock as the Daqtagh vanished in a ball of fire and plasma, only for the bow of the U.S.S. Riptide to emerge as she charged the Klingon fleet. The Riptide was a sister ship of the Enterprise G under the command of Commander Hazel Rendevez. She had found the stricken Dewitt, destroying the KDF ship left behind to scuttle her, and pursued the KDF fleet to Utopia Planitia. She dropped out of warp through the Datagh, destroying it instantly.
Tumblr media
The Riptide and Enterprise dove upon Commander Alvek's flagship, disabling it with their combined fire, before turning to face the D'tek.
With further Starfleet reinforcements appearing on long range sensors,  Lieutenant Ash'ara was forced to order a withdrawal.
Starfleet had repelled the attack, but at high cost.
Multiple ships, both under repairs and incomplete hulls, had been destroyed. Multiple drydocks had been reduced to molten scrap...and the Enterprise had taken critical damage.
The Enterprise G had to be towed to another drydock by her sister; she had suffered major structural damage during the battle. While repairable, it would have taken over a year if the yards had been at full strength. With so many docks destroyed, and the new components meant for Enterprise destroyed, the estimates were closer to two.
Starfleet was down their flagship, at a time they desperately needed her. Morale had dropped drastically after word of the attack had got out. If the fleet learned the Enterprise was out of service...
Fortunately Commodore Geordi LaForge had a solution. Following the completion of the Enterprise D's restoration in 2403, he had turned his attention to another ship of the name. The Odyssey class Enterprise F was nearly operational again, with Utopia Planetia's help, she could enter service within the original timeframe for the G's refit.
Tumblr media
The F was flown to Utopia Planitia under heavy escort, the yard workers beginning their work almost before she stopped moving. Command had ordered the Enterprise restoration to be the yard's highest priority.
Tumblr media
The unexpected revelation of Undine influence brought a temporary ceasefire to the conflict before the F's restoration could be completed, but Starfleet pushed through the project anyway.
This proved to be a wise decision, as during the final week of the refit, Deep Space 9 was taken by a temporally displaced dominion fleet. The newly recommissioned Odyssey class Enterprise would lead the battle to retake the station. Captain Seven of Nine had deferred command, instead choosing to oversee the repair of her Enterprise. Instead Captain Va'kel Shon of the recently lost USS Belfast would be given command of Starfleet's returning flagship.
Tumblr media
Throughout the rest of 2409 to the end of 2410, the Enterprise F served with distinction in the leadup to, and duration of the Iconian war. The final battle of the war saw the Enterprise lead the defense of the Sol System against the Iconian Armada, taking critical damage in the process.
Tumblr media
2411 dawned to see the Enterprises once again switch roles, the newly refitted Enterprise G relieveing the battered Odyssey.
There was consideration given to the idea for retiring the Enterprise F again, but the idea was dismissed as impractical due to the massive losses Starfleet had sustained during the war.
The Enterprise F was refitted to the new Yorktown subclass specifications, bringing the 24 year old vessel back to the forefront of Starfleet technology.
Tumblr media
There was the question of what Starfleet would do with two starships named Enterprise in service at the same time, but the debate was silenced by Admiral Kathryn Janeway, who rolled her eyes and commented that starfleet needed the extra luck given the last few years.
As of 2412 both the Yorktown class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-F and the Constitution III Class refit U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-G are in service. The 1701-F currently is the active flagship of Starfleet. The Enterprise G has recently departed on a long term Exploration mission.
