Obviously if poetry makes you feel something then on some level it must be effective, and Emily Dickinson isn't like, too special for us to ever engage with and interrogate, but just to remind people what her poem actually says when they read the sewer rat poem:

Idk it just feels like a weird take to be like, ACTUALLY, EMILY, hope is (basically what she was getting at but with more words and modern analogies).

She never says hope is beautiful or delicate, or even that all birds are beautiful and delicate and therefore by comparing hope to a bird it's implied to be those things.

In fact, the bird of hope is extremely scrappy if it's singing basically non-stop and only something really extreme could ever get it to stop.

I turned in my first draft of my second essay today! It's not remotely complete, and it's about a hundred words too long, but it's decent for a first draft and good enough for my one-on-one conference with my teacher.

I usually hate research (it's boring and drags on forever), but it's a criminal case from 1921 and it's super interesting. Also the judge was a self-righteous, uber-patriotic asshat who shouldn't have presided over this case at all because he was biased, and I'm pissed that he got his way in the end.

Headcanons are all well and good, but maybe we shouldn't be so eager to apply modern Western gender politics and terms to a character whose identity is so tied to the time, place, and circumstances in which she exists.

Please remember that Mizu was forced to present as male for her own safety and agency. Please remember that allowing others to see her as a man and call her he/him is not a choice; it's protection; it's a means to an end. Until we see Mizu talk about her gender in further detail, that's all the context we have.

Don't project what you want to see onto her and then treat it as fact.

What's your favourite Disney movie? And does your preference for the dorms have any influence on their movies and vice versa? Like I know you love Diasomnia so is Sleeping Beauty high up there for you?

I'm just asking because Snow White is actually my favourite Disney Princess and her movie is my favourite yet Pomefiore is my least favourite dorm (but Lion King and Savanaclaw are both in my top two) and I was wondering if it's similar for you?

that said, it's hard to say what my favorite movie is, because I'm one of those annoying people who's like "well it depends" (on different aspects, on my mood, on the phase of the moon, etc). though out of the ones represented in Twst, I think it probably is Sleeping Beauty! I think it's really pretty and just a delightful movie! it hits a nice sweet spot for me of being kind of...gently grounded while still having that floaty-fairytale feeling, if that makes sense also I might have had a huge villaincrush on Maleficent that is being massively projected onto Meleanor, shh

although I actually sort of hated Diasomnia at first (l-look, they didn't have cards at first and all we had to go on were the website descriptions that make everyone sound horrible). so I dunno, maybe the influence helped win me over to them! or maybe just because, like everything else in Twst, they were unexpectedly enjoyable in practice?

(I don't think there are any that had a negative influence either, because I am also one of those annoying people who's like "well I don't have a least favorite, I like everybody!") (sob. it's true though.) (I just, I just love characters so much --)

There was a club between 1019-2025 in the heart of Budapest, 101 Klub named after Depeche Mode's famous tour album (sorry, I know it's obvious but I just wanted to write it down). We called it "százegy" ['saazedj], means one-o-one. The club was popular, survived the Covid shutdowns, but on 12th of January it has closed. Many DM and other (The Cure, '90s, Italo Disco, Post Punk, New Wave, Rammstein ect) temathical dance nights it is over in this place, because it is moving to a bigger one.

Most of the huge banners and lights, furnitures will be moved to their new place not far from the old one but… this was our DM cave, a unique place for us, "depeses" people. The other club won't be the same nor similar. At the 1st floor you could rest on comfortable sofas, drinking your beer at tables with DM album's covers, look around and see Dave, Mart, Fletch, Al, Vince. You could listen to music, watch it's videos on a big screen. Upstairs there was a small dance area with another screen for videos, a little stage and a DJ booth.

If someone doesn't know me yet, my DM story is a bit strange. I've become a fan in the Summer of 2023, one of my friends showed me this club not much later. 101 was dedicated mostly for DM, but you could find David Bowie, The Cure, Rammstein, System Of A Down, Joy Division, older Vince Clarke and Beatles posters too. I remember, when I entered in: DM wallpapers everywhere! I said "this is the heaven, how the hell didn't I find it so far??"

I went there 10+ times for dancing and more for just a drink, last time in January before it has been destroyed. In November @mijamija1234 and friends visited Budapest, we had free time only on Monday. We were planning to go to 101 - and we were really lucky because 101 was regulary closed on Mondays, until October! Wow. There wasn't any dance parties that day, actually it was almost empty (fans haven't got use to it yet), but we had a great time. There sounded some music at the background, I asked bartender for a DM song, she was willing but she let only 1 song per person. Then she put more and more DM songs until the end of the day :) We were dancing between the tables and singing... such a nice memory.

Photos above are the view from the steet. Here is the bar, you could see this huge, yellow 101 from the street through the window. At the corner of the bar there was a Memento Mori album ad poster, I asked for it and took it home at the last days. I fixed it, washed from the dirt and put it in a glass frame - I'm going to show it later. Earlier I got this from one of the DJs.
