#Emerald Swift

April 1, 2023 - Emerald Swift (Sceloporus malachiticus) These swifts are found in parts of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. They feed on insects, foraging in the early morning. Unlike many species in the same family, they are ovoviviparous, meaning their eggs hatch while inside the female and she gives birth to live young.

One life leaves and another enters. Meet Talos!

Talos is an Emerald Swift which as you can see has a very rough issue going on with his back. He had been at my old Petco at 50% off forever and had even tried to help him prior. After losing Puba and now having an empty bioactive tank that I decided helping this guy out would be my next animal.

He is also an asshole. 😂 Which is fine cause I love handling asshole reptiles no one wants! I have been working on doing every other day soaks for him and trying the boost his nutrition to help hopefully fix his back scales up. Did a lot of reading which unfortunately not a lot of care sheet out there for these guys. I have my auto mister going hourly to keep the humidity up in the 60 to 80% range he needs.

I have debated on trying to breed him down the road. Sadly Emerald Swifts are WC and rarely CB. I was possibly looking into that avenue (I do this with Fire Belly Newts already) but would be hard since these guys just are what I call a no touchie reptile which people don’t really like.

Will see in time though we want to get him better first!

hi i'm bored so here's what i think marauders era characters would think about taylor swift 😙😙

the marauders:

james - i don't think he'd have much of an opinion her tbh. i can see james listening to shake it off REGLIGIOUSLY, but other than some more tracks from 1989?? not much 🤷‍♀️

sirius - i genuinely don't think he'd care much for taylor at all. her music isn't his thing, but eventually remus would convince him to listen to some of speak now and i think he'd like 'haunted (taylor's version)' as well as 'mine' and a few other sappy love songs from some other albums that he associates with remus <3

remus - folklore is HIS ALBUM, okay? he listens to it daily, sometimes listening to evermore as well. remus prefers her softer, more lyrical music (this includes songs like 'new years day' as well as even 'dear reader' bc he'd relate a lot i think!!)

peter - like sirius, peter doesn't really listen to her music, and therefore doesn't have any opinion on her music. but if anybody turns her music on, he won't turn it off bc he does vibe with some songs (mainly the popular tracks, because i don't see him properly listening to a lot of her discography because he just prefers other music)

the valkeyries:

lily - the og swiftie of the entire friend group. she listens to taylor swift religiously and LOVES folklore (she was the one who introduced remus to her music and that album), as well as reputation (bc who doesn't, honestly?). her favourite songs from folklore are 'the lakes' and 'invisible string' !!

mary - forced swiftie i fear (she likes to joke that lily makes her listen to taylor all the time, but really mary also enjoys the music). she's a huge fearless tv girl and her favourite songs are 'the way i loved you' and 'jump then fall,' not just bc she might relate to either, but she just likes them!!

marlene - doesn't love taylor's music, but wouldn't turn it off if it came on 🤷‍♀️ she spends a lot of time listening to it bc of lily and mary, so she knows a lot of the lyrics, but she wouldn't listen to it herself, if yk what i mean!!

Chapter four is up! Techno is starting to get pretty adept at being kidnapped, only these captors are slightly less nice, especially since they mistake him for Wilbur —who he does NOT look like, by the way! Fortunately, Techno and his kidnappers have a lot of common ground, given they’ve all been screwed over by Philza Craft. Techno doesn’t mind working for his captors, even, if it means he survives. All he has to do is learn to lie like his life depends on it (which it does), suppress any positive memories of the Crafts in order to betray them, pray he doesn’t get Tommy killed, and ignore the growing fear that violence and manipulation runs in the blood. Other than those tiny wrinkles, it’s not half bad. Fun, even, though Techno is horrified to discover he excels at scheming the logistics for a criminal empire.

The Angel of Death, meanwhile, is going to make those who stole his son pay. Soon his Technoblade will be safe in his arms, right where he forever belongs.

listen listen i always thought my tears ricochet was completely about sirius but good lord was i wrong. LISTEN:

'Cause I loved you, I swear I loved you 'Til my dying day -- regulus talking to sirius!!! because ofc sirius gave regulus hell once he learned that his brother had become a death eater. and regulus obviously knows he deserves it, not only because he loves sirius, but bc he knows what he's doing is wrong.

I didn't have it in myself to go with grace And you're the hero flying around, saving face -- i always thought that first line was the most sirius thing ever (and it is obvs) but that second line changes everything!! regulus didn't have the courage to go out like a hero, turning away his family with dignity. reg helped (well not really but ygm) the order and betrayed his family, but in his own way, and definitely not gracefully.

(on second thought, it actually works perfectly both ways. all of the order calls sirius brave for having the courage to run away. but all reg's family calls reg the hero for doing 'the right thing'.)

And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed -- if sirius hates reg so much, why is he crying over his death?? (reminder that sirius thought reg was a DE when he died as well, so his tears would have been for someone he thought was evil!)

And you can aim for my heart, go for blood But you would still miss me in your bones -- sirius again. like the brothers were on such bad terms from sixth year up, and sirius hated reg for being a DE. but as much spite as there was between them, sirius still hoped that reg wld come back to him.

And I still talk to you (when I'm screaming at the sky) -- ok this one i actually imagine in the cave. yeah, i know he wouldn't have been able to see the sky from a cave. but i imagine him drowning and facing the surface, and through the cracks of the surface, he watches the sky and imagines the stars watching over him. and reg screams, but he's underwater (sorry that sounds so cringey good lord) so no one (sirius) can hear him or save him.

And so the battleships will sink beneath the waves -- UMM. do i ever need to explain.

Crossing out the good years -- their entire childhood. everything they did together. the fact that they lived through such abuse together. to throw it all away. to stop looking at each other in the hallways. painful????

the emeralds:

regulus - he'd love taylor swift!! regulus' favourite albums would be ttpd, midnights & red tv. i don't make the rules (yes i do) 🤷‍♀️ his favourite songs from each album would be 'loml,' 'question...?' and 'treacherous' (which he'd never admit, but it's true)

barty - i can see barty saying he hates taylor just to piss of reg, but if 'king of my heart' came on, he'd vibe and def wouldn't turn it off (he associates it with evan 👀) (wanna unpack why that is, barty?)

evan - loves her. period. his fav album is reputation and his favourite songs are 'gorgeous,' 'don't blame me' & 'delicate' !! (he associates them with barty 😙😙)

pandora - her number one song on spotify wrapped EVERY YEAR, without fail, is 'i hate it here' by taylor. second top song is 'never grow up (taylor's version)'. she's a speak now tv girl!!

dorcas - also pretends to hate taylor, but 'the man' by taylor is on almost all of her "favourite song" playlists so 😋😋 she's a lover girl at heart, but she tells pandora (she's the only one who knows she likes taylor) that her favourite is evermore

emmeline vance - genuinely doesn't listen to taylor swift much, but would never hate on her or say anything against her. she just doesn't know much of her music or much about her, so she doesn't judge 🤷‍♀️ will listen to fearless tv with mary if asked though!!

emma vanity - she's a huge swiftie and she's LOUD about it. everyone knows she loves taylor; her favourite album is lover & fav song is 'cruel summer' (emma liked it before it blew up, and she makes sure to add that whenever she tells someone)!! emma is alsooo a huge red tv girl, but more the lover girl side of red, yk?? like she LOVES 'begin again,' 'run,' as well as 'forever winter'

amelia bones - her and emma bond at first bc of their love for taylor and just music in general !! amelia doesn't seem like it, but she's an evermore and, strangely enough, debut type of person. her favourite all-time taylor song is 'a place in this world' !! a close second for her is 'dorothea'
