Other notes of insanity from the "JVP Haggadah":
Adonai elohenu melekh ha-olam is translated differently literally every time it appears. First it's "spirit of freedom" then it becomes "the source" and "the eternal determiner of the universe" and "the one who sustains all life". Y'all. It's the same phrase in every blessing. Jews would know this. Pick one translation and stick with it!
Wine is typically a symbol of joy in the Seder-- it's often a joy for our liberation from Egypt. However, I've also seen it represented as joy despite the hardships and captivity many of us still face. JVP does away with all of that and dedicates each glass of wine to a different theme: Education, solidarity, boycotting Israel, and community. Wine is a symbol of joy in Judaism because drinking four glasses of Maneshewitz in a night gets you drunk. The symbolism is inherent to the wine itself. I don't see how getting shitfaced helps you boycott Israel.
Yachatz is fully gutted. The Hagaddah is supposed to detail how and why you break the matzah-- you can't just break it! There's symbolism and meaning to breaking specific pieces and creating an Afikomen. JVP says fuck an Afikomen, everybody just breaks a cracker and thinks about systematic oppression. They try to (incorrectly) address the Afikomen issue later, but it's nonsensical at that point because we never made one to begin with.
There is no Maggid. There's a section called Maggid, which includes a single verse from what I'm almost certain is the Christian Old Testament, not the Torah. There's no story. It literally just goes Bible Verse > Shitting on Israel > Four Questions > Plagues. They literally took out the longest and most important part of the Seder. I'm not shocked that they couldn't figure out a way to make the story of Exodus seem anti-Zionist, but still...
There's no Chad Gadya. Instead, you're supposed to go around the table, wish each other good night, and ask what they learned. This might actually be an interesting way to further involve attendees in the Seder if there were... you know... a Maggid. There's nothing to take away from this because there's zero substance. The story wasn't told. It's just there to force attendees to verbally shit on Israel before they're allowed to leave.
I'm sure there are other major issues with it; feel free to add them if you find any. I'm just personally still too baffled by the stupidity of it all to go through it a second time.

AND IT WAS THE FEAST OF THE PASSOVER
He stayed in his walk to watch a typesetter neatly distributing type. Reads it backwards first. Quickly he does it. Must require some practice that. mangiD kcirtaP. Poor papa with his hagadah book, reading backwards with his finger to me. Pessach. Next year in Jerusalem. Dear, O dear! All that long business about that brought us out of the land of Egypt and into the house of bondage alleluia. Shema Israel Adonai Elohenu. No, that’s the other. Then the twelve brothers, Jacob’s sons. And then the lamb and the cat and the dog and the stick and the water and the butcher. And then the angel of death kills the butcher and he kills the ox and the dog kills the cat. Sounds a bit silly till you come to look into it well. Justice it means but it’s everybody eating everyone else. That’s what life is after all. How quickly he does that job. Practice makes perfect. Seems to see with his fingers.

A cada 1000 anos desce 3 arcanjos para testar os dons que deus deu a seus anjos querubins e humanos a confirmar se eles são dignos de tal,
Se cumpriram com o que tinham pedido em vida tanto em dharma como karma.
Nomes A - I - U
(vogais semi infinita - finita - infinita)

Baruch Ata Adonay Elohenu Melech Ha-olam asher kid'shanu b'mitsvotav v'tsivanu la'asok b'divray Torah.
("Praised art Thou, Lord our God, Ruler of the Universe, Who has sanctified us by His Mitzvot and commanded us to occupy ourselves with the study of Torah." )
1. Every congregation should provide a course of post-Confirmation studies to be conducted by or under the direction of the Rabbi.
2. After Confirmation, the student should continue his study of Torah in his congregational school of advanced studies, or in community-sponsored schools of higher learning. This course of studies should be pursued through the high school years.
3. Before leaving home either to enter college, the Armed Forces, or a vocation for the first time, one should attend services to commit himself to his faith and to his people. He should also take with him, wherever he goes, a Bible and a prayer-book.
4. Upon entering college, the student should identify himself actively with organized Jewish life on the campus and help advance the study of Torah there. He should also seek out his fellow Jews throughout his college life.
5. Where courses in Judaism are offered as part of the curriculum, he should avail himself of them.
6. Where there is a Congregation in the college community, he should share in its life.
7. Throughout his college career, he should honor our observances, holidays, and practices as devoutly as he would at home, thereby preserving the heritage of our people and bringing honor to the name of Israel.
8. In those congregations where there are organized youth groups the student should actively identify himself with them and further his study of Torah through them.
a. When the course of studies is completed, it is customary for the Congregation to give fitting recognition to this achievement, preferably in the form of a graduation service.]

Benjamin walked through the airport, texting family and friends he’d arrived safely. He made his way past restaurants and souvenir shops. Souvenirs always reminded him of Ahni, the way she’d send him gifts from everywhere she went. She was always mindful of what she sent. He knew Ahni knew how poor he was, and though they had never said it explicitly, he knew she intentionally sent sweatshirts and t-shirts as clothes of his started to wear out. He remembered how she’d sent a thrifted copy of an expensive textbook. Ahni said she stumbled upon it and remember him mentioning how he needed it. He wondered how long she’d looked for it.
He was about to see Ahni for the first time in months. Anxiety rose, doubts filling his mind. What if he couldn’t find her? What if he went to the wrong part of the airport? What if she’d forgotten to pick him up? He checked his phone.
Just follow the signs to Arrivals. I’ll wait there for you. See you soon :)
He saw a sign pointing to arrivals and headed in that direction. Were there multiple arrivals? This will be over soon , Ben thought, I’ll find Ahni and it’ll be fine. I don’t need to stress about it. He stepped onto the escalator, his hands shaking as he adjusted his grip on his suitcase, and began to recite Frank Herbert’s fear litany. I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. He stepped off the escalator, made a left, and began reciting the shehecheyanu berakhah. Baruch atah Adonai Elohenu, melekh ha’olam, shehecheyanu vekiymanu vehigi’anu lazman hazeh.
Ben could see Ahni waiting at the end of the hallway. She hadn’t seen him yet. He watched as she scanned the faces of the crowd. Finding him, she grinned and began to run. He met her halfway and hugged her tight. They separated and she took his suitcase. They linked their pinkies as she led the way to the parking garage.
“Ben, oh my gosh, I can’t believe you’re actually here, it’s been so long. Everything went okay? Like with the flight and everything?” Ben nodded, “You okay?” he nodded again.
“Just high anxiety. I’m fine,” he looked over and smiled at her, “Your flatmate just arrived, didn’t she? How do you feel about her?”
“Oh, Madison’s great, kinda reminds me of you. She’s really sweet and really cool, and smart, but like not just book smart or math smart, but like intelligent. You know what I mean? Anyway, you’ll love her, but I’m gonna tell you now, you can’t date her.”
Ben laughed. “What makes you think I would date her? I’ve never even met her, so what if we don’t get along at all?”
“Oh c’mon, Ben. I know you. You’ll love her. She’s the kind of girl you would take home and Charli would just adore her, and then you’d have to constantly be telling Charli to go away in order to spend any time with her alone. Or, better example, she’s the kind of girl where you guys date and then mutually decide to break up but your family loves her so much that she still gets invited to family events even though you broke up.”
They both were laughing by the time she finished. Ahni found her car and put his suitcase in the trunk.
“Do you want to be in the backseat?” she asked.
He tilted his head, “Would it bother you?”
She smiled. “Not at all. Get in.”
Ben climbed into the backseat and Ahni turned to face him, holding out a CD case. He pulled another out of his backpack and they swapped CDs.
“CDs are so much better than playlists for some reason. They’re kinda more mixtape-esque. Like, lowkey, playlists will never be the same.”
Ahni laughed and turned back to him, holding an iced coffee. “I stopped on my way over. Decaf iced americano.”
Ben smiled. “How did you remember that? We haven’t gotten coffee together in like, a year.”
“C’mon Ben, if you were gonna get coffee for me, what would you get?”
“An iced coffee, milk, two pumps vanilla, two pumps caramel, decaf or full depending on the day.”
“How did you remember that, Ben?” she asked, smiling at him in the mirror.
“I remember because I alternate between the two, Ahni.” He picked up his phone and opening the notes app, typed bought me coffee. Remembered I get iced americanos. “Ahni, what happened with Avó banning couples at the family reunion?”
“Eh, nothing much, she said married couples were fine, but no dating couples, so most of the cousins revolted, and then eventually she gave in, so we can keep fake dating.”
“We’ve been fake dating for a long time, Ahni. Sooner or later we’re gonna have to get fake engaged or fake broken up.”
She grinned. “One more reason to get married, huh?”
“Exactly.”

The Names of God: Elohenu Olam
Elohenu Olam is “Our Everlasting God.” I love this name. Just as the Scripture says, God is our God forever and ever. He will guide us through any situation we may encounter. He will love us and be our protection over us with our end. He is Elohenu Olam, “Our Everlasting God.” 🦅 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal “For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.” ~ Psalm 48:14

Is the Trinity a Biblical Teaching?
By Author Eli Kittim
“While the developed doctrine of the Trinity
is not explicit in the books that constitute
the New Testament, the New Testament
possesses a ‘triadic’ understanding of God
and contains a number of Trinitarian
formulas, including Matthew 28:19, 2
Corinthians 13:14, 1 Corinthians 12:4-5,
Ephesians 4:4-6, 1 Peter 1:2 and Revelation
1:4-5” (Trinity, Wiki).
The Deity of God the Father
To begin with, there are numerous New Testament verses which reveal God as “Father” (e.g., John 6:27, Titus 1:4). This fundamental concept of the Father as the creator and source of all living beings is of course famously attested in the Hebrew Scriptures with terms such as Yahweh and Elohim!
The Deity of Jesus Christ
We also have multiple texts which refer to the deity of Jesus Christ, depicting him as the so-called Son of God, such as in Jn 1:1 (“the word was God”), Col. 2:9 (“in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily”), Jn 8:58 (“before Abraham was, I am”), Heb. 1:3 (“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of his being”), Tit. 2:13 (“our great God and Savior Jesus Christ”), as well as the explicit worship Christ willingly received from his followers (Luke 24:52; John 20:28) and the accusations of blasphemy leveled against him for equating himself with God (Mark 2:7).
The Deity of the Holy Spirit
The personhood of the Holy Spirit is multiply-attested in the New Testament. There are many verses which hint at the deity of the Holy Spirit, calling Him, for example, a “person” (ἐκεῖνος, meaning “He” Jn. 16:13-14; ὁ Παράκλητος, which depicts “a person”; & ἐκεῖνος, meaning “he” Jn. 15:26). The Holy Spirit is also called the “eternal Spirit” (Heb. 9:14), a term that is often used interchangeably with the concept of God (1 Cor. 3:16; 6:19; Acts 5:3-4; Rom. 8:9; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21). For example, the Holy Spirit is called “Lord” in 2 Corinthians 3:17:
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the
Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
Moreover, the Holy Spirit is said to have insight into “the depths of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10-11). He also possesses knowledge (Romans 8:27). The Spirit is also said to have a personal will (1 Corinthians 12:11). He is capable of convicting the world of sin (John 16:8), and performs signs and miracles (Acts 8:39). He also guides (John 16:13) and intercedes between people (Romans 8:26). He utters commands and is also obeyed (Acts 10:19-20; 16:6). The Spirit talks (Revelation 2:7; 14:13; 22:17). He warns and prophesies of things to come (John 16:13; Acts 20:23). And the New Testament certainly depicts Him as a member of the Trinity (John 16:14; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
The Plurality in the Godhead
What is more, the plurality in the Godhead is well attested not only in the New Testament but also in the Old Testament (Gen. 1:1-3, 26; Psalm 2:7; and Dan. 7:13-14)! Furthermore, there are many New Testament passages that either mention or allude to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as if they are distinct persons with different functions, yet equated in rank and status as a unit (Matt. 28:19; Gal. 4:6; 1 Cor.12:4-6; 1 Peter 1:1-2; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 2:18; 3:14-17; 4:4-6; 5:18-20; 6:18). After all, Mt. 28:18-20 reads:
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All
authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me. Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to
obey everything that I have commanded
you. And remember, I am with you always,
to the end of the age.’ “
In Greek, 1 John 5:7 reads as follows:
ὅτι τρεῖς εἰσιν οἱ μαρτυροῦντες ἐν τῷ
οὐρανῷ ὁ πατὴρ ὁ λόγος καὶ τὸ ἅγιον
πνεῦμα καὶ οὗτοι οἱ τρεῖς ἕν εἰσιν.
(Stephens 1550 “Textus Receptus” aka
Received Text).
KJV Translation:
“For there are three that bear record in
heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy
Ghost: and these three are one.”
There has been much debate over 1 John 5:7 as to its authenticity (aka the “Johannine Comma”). Modern Bible versions that were formulated by mostly secular scholars in the 19th century, who largely denied the deity of Christ, used variant manuscripts (e.g., “Alexandrian texts”) to argue that 1 John 5:7 is an interpolation. However, scholars who have a high view of Scripture argue that the “Majority text” was more widely used by the early church and that this verse is in fact authentic and original.
The Trinity in the Hebrew Bible
A multiplicity of divine persons exists in the Hebrew Bible, as we find in Prov. 30:3-4, Gen. 35:1-7, as well as in Gen. 31:10-13 where the Angel of God is identified as God, no less!
Note the multi-personal God also in Eccles. 12:1 (YLT):
“Remember also thy Creators in days of thy
youth.”
While critics of the Triune God use Deut. 6:4 (The Shema) as a declaration of monotheism, this verse may also refer to a plurality of divine persons within the singular Godhead. The verse essentially reads:
Yahweh Elohenu Yahweh is one.
It Mentions God 3 times and then declares that he [is] one (echad). Besides mentioning God 3 times, the verse also uses the plural form ĕ·lō·hê·nū to suggest numerically more than one person. It’s tantamount to saying, Israel, pay attention to my declaration about God: one plus one plus one equals one (or 3 in 1)! Or, Yahweh, Elohenu, Yahweh = One (monotheism)! Elohenu is a noun, masculine plural construct, first person common plural. But what exactly does Deut. 6:4 mean when it says that God is one (echad)? Answer:
“Echad is the Hebrew word for one, but more
precisely it means a single entity but made
up of more than one part. There is another
Hebrew word from the same root – Yachid
which means single. The meaning of Echad
(more than one part) is a confirmation of
the Hebrew word Elohim which is translated
as God. Elohim is a plural word – more than
one . . .”
https://news.kehila.org/the-meaning-of-the-word-echad-one/
Moreover, Yahweh is not called qadosh (singular for ‘holy’) but qə·ḏō·šîm (plural) in Joshua 24:19 as well as in Prov. 9:10:
“The commencement of wisdom is the fear
of Jehovah, And a knowledge of the Holy
Ones is understanding.”
As for the distinction of the third person of the Trinity, namely, the Holy Spirit, besides 2 Sam. 23:2-3, read Isaiah 63:10-11:
“But they rebelled and grieved his holy spirit;
therefore he became their enemy; he
himself fought against them. Then they
remembered the days of old, of Moses his
servant. Where is the one who brought
them up out of the sea with the shepherds
of his flock? Where is the one who put
within them his Holy Spirit?”
Thus, the above-mentioned verses in the Hebrew Scriptures clearly support the theological concept of a plurality of persons within the singular Godhead, otherwise known as the Trinity.
