I want to keep amplifying examples of sane and intellectually honest discussions of Israel and Palestine.

This debate is excellent. The participants are disciplined and civil, they base their arguments on facts and reason, and the moderator kept them accountable to truth and context...despite having utterly failed to do this in the Hasan/Levy debate.

Criticisms of Israel are not antisemitic. Criticisms of the PA and Hamas do not dehumanize the Palestinian people or deny their suffering.

My opinions:

- Mohammed Dajani Daoudi had the most poorly-supported arguments, but sure seems like the sort of idealist I wish could be influential in Palestinian society. The other three participants clearly admire him and his work, even when they disagree with him. His closing argument is outstanding.

- Fleur Hassan-Nahoum came for a fight, not a debate, but I found it hard to fault most her positions. I did like how she gave the UAE credit it deserves and expressed her admiration for Professor Dajani.

- Ambassador Dennis Ross, perhaps unsurprisingly for a professional diplomat, seemed particularly disciplined, reasonable, and commited to intellectual honesty. Although his reputation is as an Israel supporter, he repeatedly underlined Israeli failings. He rightly criticizes Israel's failures of accountability.

- Elliot Abrams seemed to present an oversimplified neocon worldview. His regarding Kurdistan as a model for Palestinian self-rule struck me as either disingenuous or just plain stupid. I think, however, he's right that Iran is an enormous obstacle to peace and I agree with him that a radicalized Islamist culture is unlikely to create a democratic state which seeks peaceful coexistence.

When Indonesia invaded East Timor in 1975, with US military and diplomatic backing, its armed forces killed 50-100k civilians in the first 12 months (roughly 15% of the population). US officials flatly denied the scope and scale of killing: (Source)

In Dec. 1981 a US backed El Salvadoran special forces unit massacred more than 800 civilians amidst the Salvadoran civil war. The Reagan Administration, led by Elliot Abrams, initially just denied the massacre or blamed FMLN guerrillas. [Link]

We can find dozens of similar examples over the last 40 years. More recently the Trump (and now Biden Admin) denied the scope and scale of US backed Saudi atrocities and killings in Yemen, where Saudi Arabia has killed more than 100,000 civilians: [Link]

The point here is simple. The US government, under Democratic and Republican Administrations, *will always deny atrocities* carried out by client states and allies and use its diplomatic and media influence to this end. We should expect the Biden Admin to lie in this way.

It’s worth noting that no US government since has initially acknowledged an Israeli massacre or atrocity. Its reflexive response is to back Israeli denials. If anyone can think of one, please post. I cannot think of a single one since the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon.

HELL YEAH I WILL

So the morning after they drunkenly make out for the first time (aka the same morning Elliot asks Abram out), Elliot showers and then right after he gets out he steals a pair of sweatpants from Abram’s dresser and instantly climbs back into his bed. There’s clean sheets put on, and Abram comes back in the room 5 minutes later after his shower in the hall since Elliot so graciously stole his bathroom.

Abram has shorts on and pauses in the doorway bc the 10 minute shower clearly wasn’t enough time to wrap his mind around this whole thing. He’s been fantasizing about him and Elliot for 7 months, hopelessly looking and wishing, and all it took was a few too many shots for it to happen.

What Abram doesn’t know is that while Elliot is laying in his bed, his mind is running a million miles a second. Did Abram only kiss him before he started it? Does he really remember? They were both pretty drunk, what if Abram feels awkward now? He probably just-

“Stop thinking” Abram is suddenly crawling back into bed, pulling the comforter over both of their bodies, and Elliot feels him grab his fingers from where they have a death grip on his pillow. He’s lying on his stomach but his face is turned towards the wall, and despite Abram tapping the back of his head he can’t bring himself to look at him.

Sharing a bed with Elliot isn’t really new, but it definitely is after hooking up the night before. Abram frowns at Elliot’s back because he knows how he gets. Talking him out of his worries won’t help, so he instead does what he’s kinda always wanted to do and pulls Elliot to him with a palm flat on his stomach, and curls his body around him from behind.

It’s different than the cuddles they’d shared before when Elliot was a step away from an anxiety attack bc those were almost brotherly and strictly an arm around the shoulder and a head on the chest whereas this is Abram pressing them flush together and big spooning him. This is him holding him intimately close with fingertips brushing back and forth along his stomach- up where it’s safe and down past his belly button where friends wouldn’t go. This is Abram kissing his skin and hoping that Elliot gets the message of i want you to be mine through it.

“Oh” he hears Elliot whisper, and Abram tries not to throw up from nerves as he kisses the nape of Elliot’s neck, and then the soft junction where his neck meets his shoulder. Abram kisses the side of Elliot’s neck until he has to lift his chin further to kiss his jaw. He knows it’s working bc Elliot has sunken into him, and Abram pushes down the blood rushing in his ears to lean up on his elbow over Elliot, tilt his head with a finger underneath his chin, and kiss him soundly on the lips.

“Why are you pulling away?” he asks and fuck, because Elliot’s such an easy read, isn’t he? “Did you only kiss me because I started it?” “I called you babe first, if you remember” “I’ve also said you’ve got a fat ass before, that doesn’t mean anything”

Abram sighs and keeps rolling Elliot over onto his back. He holds himself above him on all fours and drops down with a huff that knocks the breath out of Elliot for a second. His arms immediately, however, slide up Abram’s sides. “I meant what I said in the bathroom. I’ve been wanting this for way too long” Elliot preens at that, nuzzling his cheek against Abram’s, and Abram pulls himself back, hands pressed flat on the mattress to hold himself and softly kiss down Elliot’s throat, his chest, to lightly flick his tongue over his nipple and-

“Oh sweet jesus” Elliot inhales sharply and ignores the twitch in his dick because this can not happen right now when they’re supposed to get lunch with Annie in an hour. “Wait wait wait” Elliot sounds out of breath as he sits up, and he’s a few inches shorter like this, with Abram on his knees. Abram falls onto his butt, legs crossed, waiting. “Can I just… Can you just kiss me?” Elliot tries to hide the red in his face by looking to the side but he’s an idiot if he thinks Abram doesn’t know better by now.

“Come here” Elliot looks surprised and takes a moment to figure out Abram wants him on his lap, so he does exactly that. It’s the same position as last night just stone cold sober and a little less nerve wracking. Abram slides a hand up his neck and kisses him, and uses his free hand to keep him close with fingers peeking just below his shirt onto warm skin. They kiss like that for a while, lazily and sweet and trying little nibbles or soft touches where they hadn’t been allowed before, and when they have to stop Elliot just smiles against his mouth and drops his head on Abrams’s shoulder instead, simply hugging his boy.

-the beat of this song is amazing, the rest? Gaga I love you but what were you thinking, I can only imagine this as Brett’s audition for the ND, obviously it wouldn’t be recorded but it fits his character, I can imagine Artie and idk Bree singing this as well but for the comic aspect I’ll give it to stoner Brett

MANiCURE sung by Bree and Marley in season 5

-this would happen before the whole cheating thing, Jake would be giving private classes to Bree, Marley would notice how she’s into him so in order to guarantee that she wouldn’t do something, she would get all well dressed and pretty while Bree would also be doing the same before their practice in a montage of them in their rooms getting ready, they would get next to Jake at the same time as the song ends, Jake would ultimately cancel his practice with Bree and walk hand in hand with Marley, Bree would be glaring at them as they walk away

Do What U Want feat Christina Aguilera sung by Rachel and Tina in season 5

-first, fuck R. Kelly, you cursed this amazing song, second, i’m not the biggest fun of the numbers where both the glee club and NYC gang sung together, in fact this would be a Tina solo for me until I listened to the version with Christina Aguilera and immediately though about Rachel, Tina would be singing about her frustration of now having a love after breaking up with Mike, singing about how the boys could do anything they want with her body, Rachel would be singing about how the media and NYADA and idk Brody could do anything to her body, Tina would sing the Gaga’s parts while Rachel would sing Christina’s parts

ARTPOP sung by Artie Abrams

-this was the hardest to choose, when I hear this song I feel like I’m being abducted by an ufo. Gaga describes this song as an orgasm … yeah. But she also says that this song is kind of an anti capitalist anthem and that we should always put art in first place and view it as the most important thing to an artist, which fits Artie’s directing career, often doing something in favor of the concept instead of doing something to please the audience (Rachel’s dress in WSS) or make logical sense (juke box in Grease)

Swine sung by Ryder Lynn

-the song talks about Gaga’s rape, and how she felt gross and disgusting like a pig, while I don’t think Ryder felt that way when he was molested, he was affected by it in a way that he has a hard time trusting others, specially women, I think singing this song would release some tension, it’s very aggressive in a sense that it has a lot of screaming, and his voice is very raspy so he could do a great job

Donatella sung by Kitty Wilde in ''Diva''

-“I am so fab, check it out, I’m blonde, I’m skinny, I’m rich, and I’m a little bit of a bitch” this convinced me that’s her song. Out of all the girls in season 4, Kitty and Unique and definitely the biggest divas, I don’t think Kitty sang in the episode so it would be nice seeing her singing this

Fashion! sung by Kurt, Mercedes, Rachel and Santana in season 5

-these four have the craziest harmony together, How Will I Know was amazing and I’m still bitter Getting Better was recorded, filmed and scrapped and all we have is a pic, this song is them, the original four divas of the club, the song is about feeling powerful through fashion, that’s their anthem

Mary Jane Holland sung by Unique Adams in ''The End of Twerk''

-I picture this as Unique, in an attempt to escape the bullying, she would stop dressing like a mom and go back to dressing like Artie and using her deadname, the rest of the club would try help her see that this isn’t her true self, they would perform songs to her and after their plan work they would go to the auditorium where she would sing this song, embracing Unique in a fabulous dress with the others dancing along, “introducing, ladies and gentleman, Mary Jane Holland Unique Adams!”

Dope sung by Will Schuester

-the song talks about addiction and depression, while Will wasn’t addicted to drugs or an alcoholic it was very visible how much he was affected by Terri’s fake pregnancy and Emma’s relationships with Ken and Carl, I find Wemma to be one of the cutest couples and it took so long till they were fully happy, Dope would be Will’s ballad to Emma, how she brings light to his life and how much he needs her more than dope, drugs? Alcohol? Rachel singing? I don’t know

Gypsy sung by Jesse and Rachel in season 6

-this song is about falling in love and traveling the world, I considered Brittana for this but I ultimately choose St. Berry, while I’m not their biggest fan, the song is about finding true love after a rough pat, several people don’t think they’ll find true love after a partner’s death, but Rachel found, she is happy again

Applause sung by Artie, Blaine, Marley, Ryder and Sam in ''A Katy or a Gaga''

-this song was done very perfectly, all five of them sound really good, Sam and Ryder in particular, never in my life I would guess that two straight men would slay so hard in a Gaga song, I also may like the beat slightly more than the original

Til It Happens to You sung by Kitty and Ryder

-wow, listening to this being a SA victim is very powerful, this song is from a documentary about rape/abuse/molestation of woman on universities and colleges, I can’t think of everyone else but these two to sing about it, they weren’t the only ones sexually assaulted on the show, but were definitely the ones to be affected the most by it, they would sing this together, holding hands in mutual support for each other and for everyone else who unfortunately suffered from the same fate

And that’s it, another one done, instead of doing the albums first i decided to go chronologically, so next one is Cheek to Cheek, should take roughly two weeks but it will be worth it :)
