The Electric Revolution of Henry Ford and the Future of AI in Software Development
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/the-electric-revolution-of-henry-ford-and-the-future-of-ai-in-software-development/
The Electric Revolution of Henry Ford and the Future of AI in Software Development
I’ve been reflecting on how software development is set to evolve with the introduction of AI and AI tools. Change is nothing new in the world of software development. For example, in our parents’ time, programmers used punch cards to write code. However, the impact of AI and AI-driven development will be much more significant. These advancements will fundamentally alter the way we write, structure, and organize code.
There’s a compelling analogy to consider: Henry Ford’s Highland Park Plant. This plant truly revolutionized industrial manufacturing—not in the superficial way that influencers might claim when they say they are “revolutionizing the mushroom tea supplement market.” Ford returned to first principles, examining manufacturing and the tools available at the time to redesign everything from the ground up. He built a new factory centered around electricity. It’s remarkable because industrial electricity existed for nearly forty years before it was effectively utilized to enhance productivity.
Before the invention of electricity, manufacturing plants were structured around a central boiler, with heavy machinery powered by steam. The equipment that required the most power was situated nearest to the boiler, while those that needed less energy were placed farther away. The entire design of the plant focused on the power source rather than efficient production.
However, when Henry Ford began working on the Model T, he collaborated with Thomas Edison to rethink this layout. Edison convinced Ford that electrical power plants could provide a consistent and high level of power to every piece of equipment, regardless of its distance from the generator. This breakthrough allowed Ford to implement his manufacturing principles and design the first assembly line.
It took 40 years—think about that—40 years from the proliferation of industrial electricity for it to change how the world operated in any meaningful way. There were no productivity gains from electricity for over 40 years. It’s insane.
How does this relate to AI and software development, you may ask? Understanding the importance of humans in both software and AI is crucial. Humans are the driving force; we serve as the central power source behind every structure and design pattern in software development. Human maintainability is essential to the principles often referred to as “clean code.” We have created patterns and written numerous articles focusing on software development with people in mind. In fact, we’ve designed entire programming languages to be user-friendly. Code must be readable, maintainable, and manageable by humans since they will need to modify it. Just as a steam factory is organized around a single power source, we structure our systems with the understanding that when that power source changes, the entire system may need to be reorganized.
As AI becomes increasingly integrated into software development, it is emerging as a powerful new tool. AI has the ability to read, write, and modify code in ways that are beyond human
capability. However, certain patterns—such as naming conventions and the principle of single responsibility—can complicate the process for AI, making it difficult to effectively analyze and reason about code.
As AI plays a more central role in development, there will be a growing demand for faster code generation. This could mean that instead of using JavaScript or TypeScript and then minifying the code, we could instruct an AI to make behavioral changes, allowing it to update already minified code directly. Additionally, code duplication might become a beneficial feature that enhances software efficiency, as AI would be able to instantly modify all instances of the duplicated logic.
This shift in thinking will take time. People will need to adapt, and for now, AI’s role in software development primarily provides incremental improvements. However, companies and individuals who embrace AI and begin to rethink fundamental software development principles, including Conway’s Law, will revolutionize the way we build software and, consequently, how the world operates.

batman keeps trying to put trackers on marvel's costume, but none of it actually comes off, and the parts he can put trackers on are all like, magical, so they break the trackers and he's so mad about it
Bruce has tried so many ways to track Marvel it’s honestly driven him mad.
First he tried looking for the man using CCTV cameras only to realize Fawcett doesn’t have any. Oh no, no no no, he got the grainy, haven’t been used since the 80s, security cameras. So he ends up combing through all of these cameras because of how old they are because he can’t use the software he normally uses to quickly find people. He also had to do this all on his own because Barbara was busy, and none of his other kids wanted to help him because they all like Cap. And then, when he finally finds the Captain…
Batman: *staring at the Batcomputer intently*
Marvel: *standing in an alleyway* “Shazam.”
Batman: *doesn’t understand what he said, because the audio is too crappy to decipher, but doesn’t have enough time to register that as the cameras immediately cut off*
Bruce nearly… What did Tim call it? Ah yes, crashed out. Bruce nearly ended up crashing out over this. But whatever, right? There’s always multiple solutions to a single problem.
So, he then tried a more simple solution: trackers. Small tiny little things no bigger than his pinky finger. He stuck one onto Marvel’s shoulders as the Captain was leaving for the day.
Batman: “Captain. I would like to say that you fought wonderfully today.” *puts hand on Marvel’s shoulder and places the tracker*
Marvel: “You think so? Thanks.” *sunny ahh smile*
Bruce in fact did not think so, but he needed an excuse to touch Marvel’s shoulder. Anyways, the tracker didn’t even last an hour before he got a notification that it was broken, or rather fried, by electricity. Honestly, that might as well have been Bruce’s fault. One of the man’s major powers is electricity for Christ’s sake. So after a bit, he went and upgraded the trackers to now be electrical resistant.
Marvel: *walking to the zetas*
Batman: “Captain, you own a tiger, yes?” *starts walking with him*
Marvel: “Ah, yes, why?”
Batman: “Robin’s been asking about getting a tiger.”
Marvel: “Oh really? You wanna know some tips or something?”
Batman: “If you’d be willing to share, I’d appreciate it.”
Marvel: “Oh, okay then!” *proceeds to yap about tigers the whole was to the zetas*
Batman: *sneakily tacks the electric resistant tracker on him*
Bruce learned a lot about tigers that day. He never seen the man so informative and passionate about a subject other than magic. If only he’d put that same passion into his reports. Seriously, who alternates between their left and right arm on a professional report? At least do it on a piece of scratch paper or something. (This is a reference to post I saw a while ago about Marvel and Billy writing reports together. Because of that, half of the report was in super duper fancy shmancy handwriting and the other was in chicken scratch)
But anyways, back to the second tracker. See, it actually did the opposite of what it was designed to do, which was track and be resistant to electricity. It actually ended up shorting out and therefore losing its ability to track. Bruce now realized he underestimated Marvel’s electricity.
Now onto Bruce’s third attempt. He had the tracker enchanted with magic.
Batman: “Marvel, I’d like to talk to you about Junior.”
Marvel: “Sure? Is he in trouble?” *sounds concerned*
Batman: “No. You see, Robin’s been wanting to have a play date with him.”
Marvel: “Oh uh… I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” *sounds hesitant* “I’ll have to ask him about it:”
Batman: “That’s fine.” *pats his shoulder and plants the tracker* “Get back to me when you’ve both come to a decision.”
Funnily enough, Bruce didn’t even get ten feet away before he got a notification that the tracker was destroyed. Billy felt the magic in the tracker and honest to the gods he thought it was a bug and swatted his shoulder.
Meanwhile, Billy’s confused but happy that Batman has been talking to him so much recently.
Eventually, after much trial and error (47 attempts) Bruce finally got a tracker that worked. He watched on the GPS as Marvel dipped into an alleyway and… dipped off of the face of the earth? He stared at it for a solid minute wondering if he should be concerned. It’s not like Marvel knows he’s been trying to track him. He has no idea how upset the man would be so he waited. Five minutes passed of Bruce waiting for the little dot representing Marvel to reappear. He then couldn’t take it anymore and started spamming Cap’s comm and was about to notify the other JL members until he finally picked up.
Batman: “Captain? Captain, are you there?”
Marvel: “Yeah? Yeah I am Mister Batman Sir? Is something wrong?”
Batman: “The GPS on your comm showed that you disappeared off the map for fifteen minutes.”
Marvel: “Oh really? Well I’m sorry for worrying you, Mister Batman Sir. I just went to the Rock of Eternity. That’s probably why I didn’t appear.
Batman: “What is the Rock of Eternity?”
Marvel: “Oh, it’s this rock that’s the cent- OH SHOOT.” *loud crash comes from his end*
Batman: “Is everything alright?”
Marvel: “Yeah- look I’m sorry but Black Adam’s here and he just threw a building at me. See ya, Mister Batman Sir.”
So yeah. After everything he went through only to come up with no results, Bruce is mad. Rolling in his grave even. The worst part is that he doesn’t even technically have the right to be mad, considering the fact that he was going behind one of his colleagues back’s and trying to track them without their consent. Though to be fair, Bruce did it because you can’t just have somebody that powerful running around and unchecked without a recorded weakness. But what makes him even more mad is that just when he was about to get the slightest semblance of information, a villain ruined it. At least he has a name now. The Rock of Eternity. It’s probably a magic thing that he’ll end up asking Zatanna about. He hates magic.

What is Dataflow?
This post is inspired by another post about the Crowd Strike IT disaster and a bunch of people being interested in what I mean by Dataflow. Dataflow is my absolute jam and I'm happy to answer as many questions as you like on it. I even put referential pictures in like I'm writing an article, what fun!
I'll probably split this into multiple parts because it'll be a huge post otherwise but here we go!
A Brief History
Tumblr media
Our world is dependent on the flow of data. It exists in almost every aspect of our lives and has done so arguably for hundreds if not thousands of years.
At the end of the day, the flow of data is the flow of knowledge and information. Normally most of us refer to data in the context of computing technology (our phones, PCs, tablets etc) but, if we want to get historical about it, the invention of writing and the invention of the Printing Press were great leaps forward in how we increased the flow of information.
Modern Day IT exists for one reason - To support the flow of data.
Whether it's buying something at a shop, sitting staring at an excel sheet at work, or watching Netflix - All of the technology you interact with is to support the flow of data.
Understanding and managing the flow of data is as important to getting us to where we are right now as when we first learned to control and manage water to provide irrigation for early farming and settlement.
Engineering Rigor
When the majority of us turn on the tap to have a drink or take a shower, we expect water to come out. We trust that the water is clean, and we trust that our homes can receive a steady supply of water.
Most of us trust our central heating (insert boiler joke here) and the plugs/sockets in our homes to provide gas and electricity. The reason we trust all of these flows is because there's been rigorous engineering standards built up over decades and centuries.
Tumblr media
For example, Scottish Water will understand every component part that makes up their water pipelines. Those pipes, valves, fitting etc will comply with a national, or in some cases international, standard. These companies have diagrams that clearly map all of this out, mostly because they have to legally but also because it also vital for disaster recovery and other compliance issues.
Modern IT
And this is where modern day IT has problems. I'm not saying that modern day tech is a pile of shit. We all have great phones, our PCs can play good games, but it's one thing to craft well-designed products and another thing entirely to think about they all work together.
Because that is what's happened over the past few decades of IT. Organisations have piled on the latest plug-and-play technology (Software or Hardware) and they've built up complex legacy systems that no one really knows how they all work together. They've lost track of how data flows across their organisation which makes the work of cybersecurity, disaster recovery, compliance and general business transformation teams a nightmare.
Tumblr media
Some of these systems are entirely dependent on other systems to operate. But that dependency isn't documented. The vast majority of digital transformation projects fail because they get halfway through and realise they hadn't factored in a system that they thought was nothing but was vital to the organisation running.
And this isn't just for-profit organisations, this is the health services, this is national infrastructure, it's everyone.
There's not yet a single standard that says "This is how organisations should control, manage and govern their flows of data."
Why is that relevant to the companies that were affected by Crowd Strike? Would it have stopped it?
Maybe, maybe not. But considering the global impact, it doesn't look like many organisations were prepared for the possibility of a huge chunk of their IT infrastructure going down.
Understanding dataflows help with the preparation for events like this, so organisations can move to mitigate them, and also the recovery side when they do happen. Organisations need to understand which systems are a priority to get back operational and which can be left.
The problem I'm seeing from a lot of organisations at the moment is that they don't know which systems to recover first, and are losing money and reputation while they fight to get things back online. A lot of them are just winging it.
Conclusion of Part 1
Next time I can totally go into diagramming if any of you are interested in that.
How can any organisation actually map their dataflow and what things need to be considered to do so. It'll come across like common sense, but that's why an actual standard is so desperately needed!

i saw someone joke about robot girls as an example of kinks that are just impossible to ever be made reality, like they're completely in the land of fiction. but ... that is just not true!
you can set the mood in your room. turn off the lights but put on some little coloured purple and blue blinkers. sit her down on the edge of your bed and sit down behind her. let her eyes flutter closed since there's no reason to keep them upon in this dark, safe room. softly coo into her ears, she's been such a good robot day! doing so many tasks so efficiently! making everyone around her so happy. but, silly her, she overdid it. so you're just going to have to do a tiny bit of repair work. "will that be okay, dear?" of course it will be. she trusts you completely. you're her admin. you created her. of course she has a safeguard preventing just anyone from powering her down, but she lets you override that with no resistance. such a good girl.
press your finger into the back of her neck, and then drag it down her spine. as she powers down, glide her limp body softly onto the bed. put her feet up so she's lying down completely now. maybe hold her limbs up a bit and let them drop. yep, she's powered down now. she's not unconscious, just mental faculties are capped at 10% and body autonomy is disabled. all you have to do now is find where she's sustained some damage. trace your fingers all along her chassis, poking in with a "screwdriver" to take her outer layer off and examine the wires and joints. hmmm... oil is a bit thin. these wires are too close together, could cause sparking and overheating. goodness, your fan is dusty. you've been working so hard, haven't you? gently turn her over onto her stomach now. it's time to investigate her processing unit, her software.
make sure her arms aren't stuck underneath her. once she's all comfy, you can unscrew her entire back panel. make sure to trace your fingers all around her back and spine as you do, robot girls love that shit. the soft human touch is heavenly to a machine of metal and electricity. and such a well designed chassis too, so beautiful. but off it comes, what's underneath is even prettier! oh, even now, it's still hot to the touch. you've been thinking so much today ... you don't need to think anymore though. just let me explore you. read out her event log for the day. algorithmic neural plasticity score. joint lubricant levels. corrupted data percentage. things like that. they're like scores to her. praise her if she's gotten good ones, tease her if she's gotten bad ones.
i could write so much more and maybe i will...like roleplaying injecting a virus into her neck or chest, and feeling the code flow all down her body...your cock can even be the usb!
also, at some point lay your whole body weight onto them - arms over her arms and legs over her legs. to calibrate pressure sensors or something. bc lets face it if she's a robot girl then she is 100% a neurodivergent cutie who'd love that sm <3

Panel Design Electrical
Control panels are bound to come up in any conversation about electrical arrangement. Panels frequently serve as a system's structural foundation. The level of panel complexity varies widely. Any electrical design solution must be able to handle a basic panel, similar to the ones in our homes, with maybe a few fuses and disconnects.

Which Education🎓📚 is right for you?
Mercury rules your interest and consequently which type of course you would select.
Now you have to see how Mercury is placed. For example if Mercury is conjunct Moon it would have same effect as Mercury in Cancer or Moon opposite Mercury.
Mercury -Sun: It is called Budh Aditya yoga. These people can shine in political science, geology, sociology, medicine and they can be good leaders too. They may prepare for competitive exams.
Mercury-Moon: Some changes or confusion in choice of course. Can study more than one subject but both vastly different from each other. Chemical, hotel management, nutrition, chef, psychology, tarot and intuitive studies.
