Formula 1: Report: Mick Schumacher could change racing series - Wolff comments
No more formula racing for the time being? According to a report, Mick Schumacher could switch to a French manufacturer's sports car program. That would also mean: He would probably start at Le Mans. According to a media report, Mick Schumacher could initially leave Formula 1 after this season. As the trade magazine Motorsport aktuell wrote, the 24-year-old son of record world champion Michael Schumacher could switch to the sports car program of Renault subsidiary Alpine in the coming season. Mick Schumacher would then compete, among other things, in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Manager Sabine Kehm did not want to comment on the speculation when asked by dpa. It is clear that the chances of returning to a regular Formula 1 cockpit are currently very low. Most of the places have already been taken. A possible commitment to Williams was repeatedly discussed, where the American debutant Logan Sargeant is struggling. However, his team boss James Vowles recently made it clear that there were no negotiations with other drivers. Wolff: Schumacher can remain a substitute driver Mick Schumacher is currently employed as a replacement driver at the German factory racing team Mercedes, and the contracts of the two regular drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were recently extended. “It would still be a shame if Formula 1 lost the Mick,” Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff told Sky in Singapore on Friday. However, the Viennese also made it clear that Schumacher could remain a reserve driver for the Silver Arrows if another commitment permitted this. “It doesn’t matter what phase of your life you are in, you can never be sure that it will work out the way you imagine,” Mick Schumacher recently said in a conversation with the German Press Agency. “Of course you think about it: what will I do if it doesn’t work?” he answered a similar question. As auto, motor und sport wrote with reference to the sister magazine Motorsport aktuell, the Alpine management around sports director Bruno Famin is said to have already contacted Schumacher and his management. Supposedly the chances are not bad that he could join the squad as one of the regular drivers. Glock on Schumacher's future: WEC would make sense Sky expert Timo Glock sees this as a sensible alternative to Formula 1 for Mick Schumacher. "It makes sense. He has to choose a racing series in which the cars are correspondingly fast and the technology is similar to Formula 1. Of course there would be that too Indycar series in America, but then you would no longer have a foothold here in Formula 1, but you would have to put your entire focus on America. Therefore, the WEC would be included. "These cars make sense in the end. But let's see what happens."

Daily Wrap Up March 8, 2023
Under the cut:
European Union defense ministers have agreed to supply Ukraine with one billion euros worth of ammunition from their stocks, EU top diplomat Josep Borrell said on March 8, cited by Ukrinform news outlet. The immediate delivery would be reimbursed from the European Peace Facility defense fund, according to Borrell's plan he proposed at an informal meeting of EU defense ministers.
Ukraine's president and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Wednesday for the extension of a deal with Moscow that has allowed Ukraine to export grain via Black Sea ports during Russia's invasion.
The head of Nato has said that it was still uncertain who carried out the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines in September last year, and that national investigations needed to be allowed to finish.
Ukraine will receive 18 Leopard 2A6 tanks from Germany and three from Portugal by the end of March, German magazine Der Spiegel reported, citing DPA News Agency. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius confirmed the news today at an ongoing meeting of EU defense ministers in Stockholm, as reported by Der Spiegel, adding that the tanks would be arriving with trained crews and ready to go straight to the front lines.
“European Union defense ministers have agreed to supply Ukraine with one billion euros worth of ammunition from their stocks, EU top diplomat Josep Borrell said on March 8, cited by Ukrinform news outlet.
The immediate delivery would be reimbursed from the European Peace Facility defense fund, according to Borrell's plan he proposed at an informal meeting of EU defense ministers.
European Peace Facility is an off-budget fund established in 2021 the EU has used to provide Ukraine with its critically needed military equipment to defend itself from Russia's full-scale invasion.
Another one billion euros would be allocated to order the production of additional 155 mm ammunition to replenish the national stocks and continue helping Ukraine, Borrell said at a press conference following the summit.
EU member states are supposed to place an order collectively which should reduce costs and fasten production, Ukrinform wrote.
"Member states willing to participate have to agree on the terms of the procedure. Once we decide the total amount, then it's a negotiation between the 15 European firms that can produce this kind of weaponry to fix a price and a timely delivery," Borrell said, as quoted by Euronews.
"It's not going to be short, but the sooner we start, the better," the EU top diplomat added. "I hope that by the end of the month, we can arrange with member states who are willing to participate."
The third pillar of Borrell's plan on ramping up military assistance to Ukraine is designed for a long-term perspective and involves increasing the production potential of the European defense industry.
EU foreign and defense ministers are expected to reach a "concrete and formal decision" on the proposed aid package for Ukraine when they gather in Brussels on March 20, according to the union's top diplomat. The final decision on this issue will remain with the European Parliament.
"Unfortunately, we are in wartime, and we have to form a war mentality. I would like to talk about peace and peace talks, but I have to talk about ammunition," Borrell added, according to Ukrinform.
"We should keep the door open for peace negotiations, but think about increasing the production of ammunition and reducing the time for their production."”-via Kyiv Independent

“Ukraine's president and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Wednesday for the extension of a deal with Moscow that has allowed Ukraine to export grain via Black Sea ports during Russia's invasion.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said after talks with Guterres in Kyiv that the Black Sea Grain Initiative was "critically necessary" for the world, and the U.N. chief underlined its importance to global food security and food prices.
The 120-day deal, initially brokered by the United Nations and Turkey last July and extended in November, will be renewed on March 18 if no party objects.
Russia's demands, however, have not yet been met, a Turkish diplomatic source said, adding that Ankara was "working very hard" to ensure the deal continues.
Top U.N. trade official Rebeca Grynspan, who travelled with Guterres to the Ukrainian capital, will meet senior Russian officials in Geneva next week to discuss extending the deal, a U.N. spokesperson said.
"I want to underscore the critical importance of rolling over the Black Sea Grain Initiative on 18th March and working to create the conditions to enable the greatest possible use of export infrastructure through the Black Sea in line with the objectives of the initiative," Guterres told reporters in Kyiv.
Russia, which lifted a blockade of three Ukrainian Black Sea ports under the deal, has signalled that obstacles to its own agricultural exports need to be removed before it lets the agreement continue.
To help convince Russia to allow Ukraine to resume its Black Sea grain exports, a three-year deal was struck last year in which the U.N. agreed to help facilitate Russian food and fertilizer exports.”-via Reuters

“The Ukrainian military has acknowledged that Russian forces continue to advance in the battered eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, its General Staff said in an evening update Wednesday.
“The enemy continues to advance in the Bakhmut sector. They do not stop storming the city of Bakhmut,” according to the update.
The Ukrainian military also said it had been able to hold Moscow’s forces in several areas in and around the city.
“Our defenders repelled attacks in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut and Ivanivske,” it said.
According to Ukraine, Russia continues to rely heavily on artillery, supported by multiple launch rocket systems and some air power.
“During the day, the enemy carried out 22 air strikes and fired 29 times from multiple launch rocket systems. In particular, the enemy used 1 Shahed-136 UAV. The drone was eliminated,” it said.
What Russia said: Earlier Wednesday, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Russian private military company Wagner, claimed that the eastern part of Bakhmut is now under its control. CNN cannot independently confirm Prigozhin’s claim.”-via CNN

“The head of Nato has said that it was still uncertain who carried out the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines in September last year, and that national investigations needed to be allowed to finish.
The secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, told journalists outside an EU defence ministers’ meeting in Stockholm: “What we do know is that there was an attack against the Nord Stream pipelines, but we have not been able to determine who was behind it.
“There are ongoing national investigations and I think it’s right to wait until those are finalised before we say anything more about who was behind it.”
He added that given the continuing fighting in Bakhmut, there was a chance it could fall in the next few days.
“We must ensure that this does not turn out to be turning point in the war.
“It just highlights that we should not underestimate Russia, we must continue to provide support to Ukraine and Nato allies have over the last year supported Ukraine with military and financial and economic support worth close to €150bn.””-via The Guardian

“For the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion on Feb. 24 of last year, no civilians injuries were recorded in Donetsk Oblast, according to Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko. However, the governor acknowledged that the situation remains "tense."
This information applies to the Ukrainian-controlled parts of Donetsk Oblast, as some parts of it are under Russian occupation.
Attacks were launched at multiple villages, towns and cities in the directions of Donetsk, Horlivka, and Lysychansk, resulting in property damage.
Yesterday, the Cabinet of Minister approved the mandatory evacuation of families with children from active combat zones. Currently, this criteria only applies to the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast, which has seen some of the heaviest fighting since the start of the war.
Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said on March 7 that 38 children remain in Bakhmut, which was once a prosperous industrial city that 70,000 people (including 12,000 children) called home.”-via Kyiv Independent

Germany sends Eurofighters to Romania to strengthen NATO air policing
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 11/11/2023 - 13:28in Military
Germany announced the sending of four Eurofighter and 150 military jets to Romania, reinforcing NATO's Air Policing mission in the region.
This measure, as reported by the dpa news agency, follows a request from Bucharest and is part of a collective effort to improve airspace security under the aegis of NATO.
In the past, the German Air Force has already supported the Air Policing mission in Romania. The deployment is seen as a response to the evolution of the security situation in Eastern Europe, especially following the recent incidents along the border between Romania and Ukraine.

In September, Bucharest confirmed the discovery of drone fragments in Romanian territory, near the border with Ukraine. These fragments would be similar to those used by Russia in its attacks on Ukrainian ports along the Danube. As a countermeasure, Romania intensified civil protection efforts in the Danube Delta and strengthened its military presence, including anti-aircraft units in the region.
Tumblr media
In a demonstration of allied support, the United States also sent four F-16 multifunctional fighters to Romania to patrol airspace as part of the Air Policing mission. This detachment was announced at the end of September, demonstrating solidarity among NATO members in the face of emerging threats.
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis spoke at the end of October about the reinforced radar systems along the border with Ukraine, increasing the ability to detect objects flying low. After several cases of Russian drone fragments found on Romanian territory, Bucharest extended the no-fly zone near the border with Ukraine, in the northern area of Dobruja.
Tumblr media
Media reports in September, citing military sources, stated that "all three drones that fell in the Tulcea district (in the Danube Delta) were of the Iranian Shahed model, used by Russia in attacks on Ukraine". President Iohannis condemned the bombing of Ukrainian infrastructure as a war crime, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation: "Russian drones are not attacking Romania, but as their fragments are falling in Romania, it is a real problem; it is unacceptable."
The Romanian Minister of Defense, Angel Tilvar, assured that the fragments found in September were from drones shot down by the Ukrainian air defense and that there was no indication of a planned attack on Romanian territory. NATO also confirmed that there are no reports that suggest a deliberate attack by Russia.

Arab terrorist kills, Elon Musk supports Germany’s AfD, & AfD co-chair supports Donald Trump?
COGwriter
A Saudi Arabian terrorist intentionally drove his car into a crowd in Germany:
21 December 2024
Several German states and cities said they are tightening security at Christmas markets in the wake of the Magdeburg attack that killed 5 people and injured 200 others.

Markus Lewe, President of the German Association of Cities, explained that the cities take “terror warnings from the authorities very seriously and regularly adjust the security measures on site.”

Saudi security sources said Riyadh had previously warned Germany about the suspect behind the Magdeburg Christmas market attack.
The DPA news agency cited the sources as saying that German authorities did not respond.
The sources said the man was a Shiite Muslim from the city of Al-Hofuf in eastern Saudi Arabia.

German authorities were alerted about the man about a year ago, according to reports from DPA and Reuters news agencies and Der Spiegel magazine, however, the nature of the warning is currently unknown. https://www.dw.com/en/magdeburg-christmas-market-car-ramming-death-toll-rises-to-5/live-71129061
This terrible incident will tend to strengthen anti-immigrant sentiment in Germany and elsewhere in Europe. Having people killed and hundreds wounded is something many will remember, including when they vote.
One political party that is is considered to be quite anti-immigrant is Germany’s Alternative fĂŒr Deutshland (AfD) party. Although there is a report that the terrorist liked aspects of the AfD platform, the reality is that his actions will get people more supportive of the AfD.
Notice also the following about Donald Trump and Elon Musk which some suggest is helping the AfD:
Donald Trump and Elon Musk Have Energized the German Far-Right
Germany’s AfD, with its own plan for mass deportations, is hoping to replicate the MAGA movement’s success in upcoming elections.
December 21, 2024
“So where’s my German friends?” Donald Trump asked a fawning Mar-a-Lago crowd on Election Day, before flashing a grin and a thumbs up for a photo with a group of young men.
The German friends in question: Fabrice Ambrosini, a former politician forced to resign after a video surfaced of him doing a Hitler salute; Leonard JĂ€ger, a far-right influencer who has promoted the ReichsbĂŒrger movement, an extremist group behind a failed coup attempt in 2022; and Phillipp-Anders Rau, a candidate for Alternative fĂŒr Deutschland (AfD), Germany’s far-right party.

“Let’s hope Donald Trump creates the renewal for his country that we in the AfD are planning for our country,” Rau wrote on Instagram after.
Inspired by his tough-guy bravado and promises to expel immigrants from the US, the German far-right has projected onto Trump a “fantasy of ethnonational power” they seek to replicate, says Mabel Berezin, director of Cornell University’s Institute for European Studies.

With support from about 1 in 5 Germans, the AfD has become the country’s second most popular party ahead of new elections in February.
And on Friday it received backing from one of Trump’s top allies. Elon Musk called the AfD Germany’s savior in a Tweet seen by more than 33 million people, sparking another round of far-right digital fist-pumping. The AfD instantly plastered Musk’s face on an ad and its co-leader recorded a video message profusely thanking him.

The AfD’s central pledge is to counteract the so-called Great Replacement, a conspiracy theory that claims white Europeans or Americans are the victims of a plot by non-white immigrants to “replace” them and poison their societies.
the party has been cagey about what exactly it means by remigration, with some AfD officials describing it simply as deporting asylum-seekers who’ve broken the law. Still others are more clear about their intentions to carry out widespread deportations,

“It’s the thing that brings together the far-right in multiple countries,” Heidi Beirich, co-founder of the nonprofit Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, told Mother Jones.

“The implication of the AfD’s messaging is, these aren’t real Germans,” Beirich says. “They don’t belong here. They’re the ones causing crime, taking your jobs. This all sounds very much like Trump.” https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/12/donald-trump-elon-musk-alternative-fur-deutschlandafd-german-elections/
As the tweet at the beginning of this post shows, even Elon Musk is now pointing to the AfD as what Germany needs.
And while Elon Musk’s tweet looks to be warning against Friedrich Merz of the CDU to be the next chancellor, a reader sent me a link to an interview with Alice Weide, who is co-chair of the AfD party. She has been considered as an alternative choice to be Germany’s chancellor. Here are some excerpts of her comments from an interview:
We are a a libertarian conservative party in Germany, so we perceive ourselves standing in the mirror and actually wanting to introduce sane and serious policies because we see that this country is in need of real reforms.

We have the highest energy prices worldwide.
We are in the middle of a migration crisis.
We got a a million influx of immigrants, illegals.
We don’t know. Germany actually has literally has no borders, no border control, nothing. So we have criminal rights skyrocketing and taxes are too high.

We don’t see that the European Union in its current state is a and is an institution that is working well.

Donald Trump? We have huge hope, hopes with this in his presidency. And I really hope that he puts an end on this tale of a war in the Ukraine because the European member states are actually not willing or capable of doing something like that.
So we have to tell the truth that we are not capable anymore.

Europeans should put their act together doing more within the NATO.
Germany, for instance, would never have been paying 2% of GDP at all.
So therefore Donald Trump is perfectly right to. So we need to contribute to to to NATO, but it’s also in our responsibility to formulate our national interests, because our national interests is quite different from the US. And it’s very simple why the US is very far away. And here in Europe we have this war in front of our doors. So our security interest is completely different.

I think Germany should have taken a more diplomatic part, but Germany failed in doing so. And I think that Donald Trump is really capable to sit together with the with with Russian diplomats, with Putin, to formulate a freedom treaty, because what we need is a is freedom, because otherwise I am in fear, to be honest, that this conflict, this terrible war, may escalate. 12/18/24 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeYB_Hmsu84
So, the co-chair of the AfD believes that Germany has serious problems, migrants are one of the problems, the European Union needs to change, Germany has should pay more for defense, Germany has different security priorities than the USA, but since Germany is not taking the diplomatic lead, that Donald Trump can solve various matters.
The AfD is considered Germany’s anti-migrant party. Its influence has been growing as more in Germany have been supporting it in elections.
And yes, it wants many migrants–particularly Islamic ones–to leave Germany.
As far as the European Union changing, it will, but not the way that those in the AfD now realize. The Bible shows that Europe will reorganize and become under the power of a totalitarian dictator the Bible calls the beast:
12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.  (Revelation 17:12-13)
More on how the European Union fits in with that can be found in the article: The European Union and the Seven Kings of Revelation 17.
Let me add that the Bible also shows that religion will be used by the coming European King of the North beast power:
36 “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. 37 He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. 38 But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. 39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.  (Daniel 11:36-39)
The King of the North Beast will also push out Islam (cf. Daniel 11:40-43) and lead a powerful European military (cf. Revelation 13:3-4; Daniel 11:39-43). These are things that many in Europe want, and not just the AfD!
A while back, we put out the following video related to the AfD:
youtube
14:22
AfD: Prelude to a Hitler Beast?
Germany’s Alternative fĂŒr Deutshland (Alternative for Germany in English) party celebrated its 10th anniversary on February 6, 2023.
It objects to: ❌More illegal migration ❌More asylum abuse ❌More crime ❌More housing shortage ❌More Cancel Culture
The AfD also asserts, “Now it’s time to change that. And that’s only possible with us.” Many are concerned that the AfD’s growing political influence will impact Germany. Can a strong man worse than Adolf Hitler, that the Bible calls the Beast rise up from Germany? Could Europe reorganize with a small backing to put this leader into place? Does the AfD want to make a deal with Russia? Will Germany make a future deal with Russia that would be opposed to the USA? Does the AfD want religion involved to meet its objectives in such a way that it could support the coming King of the North Beast power that the Bible warns will arise in Europe? Could Europe unite under such a leader according to scripture? Steve Dupuie and Dr. Thiel go over these matters.
Here is a link to our video: AfD: Prelude to a Hitler Beast?
The rise of AfD reminds some of pre-WWII Germany.
There will be migrant crises and other issues.
We are getting closer and closer to WWIII.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has once again spoken out against the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv, arguing that there is a danger of Germany being drawn into the conflict.
As part of a conference organised by the DPA agency, the politician said:
I am amazed that some people don’t even care, that they don’t even consider the fact that it might come to the point of being involved in a war to a certain extent because of what we are doing. I’ve explained why that’s not being taken into account. And that’s the final decision.
India possessed several hundred thousand artillery shells. Knowing this, Germany started secret negotiations with the country to buy them in order to channel them to Ukraine through intermediaries. The Spiegel magazine, citing its own sources, reported this.

In 1995, the capital city of Plymouth on the island of Montserrat was evacuated due to an impending volcanic eruption. In 1997, the volcano erupted burying the city in 40 feet of ash. An exclusion zone was created, eliminating access to over one half of the island and banning residents from coming back.

Cyanobacteria bind metals
Tumblr media
In photobioreactors like this one, the researchers produce biomass of the cyanobacteria strains they are investigating
They are in demand worldwide, but their extraction is only worthwhile in a few places on earth. A German study shows that bacteria can bind rare earth metals. Is there a path to the circular economy?
Several strains of cyanobacteria can bind to rare earth metals. In some strains, the adsorbed metals make up to ten percent of the dry matter of the microorganisms, reports a German research team led by Thomas BrĂŒck from the Technical University of Munich in the journal Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology[1]. The discovery could enable a biotechnological recycling process for rare earths.
Mobile phones, cameras, electric motors, wind turbines and lamps - these are just a few of the products for which rare earth metals are used. These 17 metals[2] have extraordinary electromagnetic, catalytic and optical properties. However, there are only a few deposits worldwide where the mining of rare earths is economically worthwhile. In addition, the extraction of the metals is often environmentally harmful and large amounts of waste are produced. Therefore, scientists are looking for ways to recycle rare earth metals.
In the future, cyanobacteria could be used to recover rare earth metals
Cyanobacteria, formerly incorrectly called blue-green algae, are known to bind metals to them. BrĂŒck and colleagues conducted their experiments with four known laboratory strains and eight other strains isolated from their natural environment. They all originally come from habitats with extreme environmental conditions, such as natron lakes in Chad, deserts in Namibia, crevices in South Africa or polluted streams in Switzerland.
"These cyanobacteria could be used in future environmentally friendly processes for the recovery of rare earth metals and for the treatment of industrial wastewater at the same time," BrĂŒck is quoted as saying in a statement from the specialist magazine.
The scientists exposed the bacterial cultures to an aqueous solution containing the rare earth metals lanthanum, cerium, neodymium and terbium. Five strains showed interesting binding properties. In nature they live under very different conditions and come from different orders, but they have one thing in common: They produce large amounts of so-called extracellular polymeric substances (EPS)[3], which result in a biofilm.

Efficient processes for the production of biokerosene and chemical recyclables from algae are being researched in the TUM Algen Technikum
A commercial recycling process could be developed from the research
Experiments with different pH values indicate an electrochemical binding mechanism associated with this biofilm. "The biomass from cyanobacteria has a high proportion of sugar compounds that carry negative charges. These attract positively charged metal ions, which are then bound to the biomass," explains lead author Michael Paper from the Technical University of Munich in a statement from the university.
Cyanobacteria of the genus Nostoc[4] brought the highest yield with 84.2 to 91.5 milligrams of metal per gram of biomass. An advantage with regard to a biotechnological process is the fact that the reaction proceeds very quickly: in experiments with cerium, most of the metal was already bound to the biomass in the first five minutes.
The scientists also investigated possible problems: If, for example, lead or aluminum are present in the aqueous solution[5], then they are bound to the cyanobacteria more efficiently than the rare earth metals. But BrĂŒck is confident that a commercial recycling process can be developed from the research. A major advantage is that the binding mechanism is reversible: "That means we can wash out the metals and reuse the biomass." In this way, a true circular economy could emerge.

[2] The 17 rare earth elements are: lanthanum (La), cerium (Ce), praseodymium (Pr), neodymium (Nd), promethium (Pm), samarium (Sm), europium (Eu), gadolinium (Gd), terbium (Tb), dysprosium (Dy), holmium (Ho), erbium (Er), thulium (Tm), ytterbium (Yb), lutetium (Lu), scandium (Sc), and yttrium (Y).
[3] Extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) are organic polymers of microbial origin involved in bacterial cells' interactions with their environment. EPS are comprised of polysaccharides, proteins, extracellular DNA (eDNA), and lipids.
[4] Nostoc, also known as star jelly, troll’s butter, spit of moon, fallen star, witch's butter (not to be confused with the fungi commonly known as witches' butter), and witch’s jelly, is the most common genus of cyanobacteria found in various environments that may form colonies composed of filaments of moniliform cells in a gelatinous sheath of polysaccharides. Nostoc is a genus of photosynthetic, Gram-negative cyanobacteria that can be found in both terrestrial and aquatic environments.
[5] An aqueous solution is a solution in which the solvent is water. It is mostly shown in chemical equations by appending (aq) to the relevant chemical formula. For example, a solution of table salt, or sodium chloride (NaCl), in water would be represented as Na+(aq) + Cl−(aq). The word aqueous (which comes from aqua) means pertaining to, related to, similar to, or dissolved in, water. As water is an excellent solvent and is also naturally abundant, it is a ubiquitous solvent in chemistry. Since water is frequently used as the solvent in experiments, the word solution refers to an aqueous solution, unless the solvent is specified.

The Royal Air Force of the Netherlands is preparing an deployment of its F-35 fighters in support of NATO's improved air policing mission in northeastern Europe. Norway is preparing to highlight its fighters in Iceland.
Eight Dutch F-35 fighters will be deployed in Malbork, Poland, to join the NATO mission to strengthen the defensive posture along the east flank in February and March 2023. While four of the fifth-generation fighters will be employed in support of policing the skies in the region, the other four aircraft will perform training exercises and exercises with the Allies, ready to increase the defensive mission when necessary.
"With these eight modern fighters, the Netherlands contributes to NATO's air policing and air shielding missions in deterrence and, if necessary, in the defense of allied territory in the Baltic region. We are also securing our Allies and demonstrating our commitment to the NATO Alliance," said Lieutenant Colonel Guido Schols, Commander of the F-35 Detachment of the Netherlands.
Tumblr media
The Netherlands regularly contributes to Allied Air Policing missions. At home, they shared the task of protecting the skies above the BENELUX area along with the F-16 of the Belgian Air Force since 2017. Abroad, they sent their F-16 to Siauliai in support of the Baltic Air Police in 2005 and 2017 and to Malbork in 2014, shortly after the invasion of Crimea by Russia. On the southeast flank, the Netherlands completed a two-month F-35 deployment in Bulgaria in May.
While deployed to Marlbork, the Netherlands is part of the current rotation of three other Allies that operate fighters outside the Baltic region: Poland and France fly F-16 and Rafale fighters from Siauliai, Lithuania, and Germany launches its Eurofighters from Ämari, Estonia.

At the same time, Norway's F-35 fighters will be sent to Iceland, where they will protect the High North region of the Alliance, as well as the Baltic.
NATO Air Police is a peacetime mission that aims to preserve the security of the Alliance's airspace. It is a collective task and involves the continuous presence - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - of fighters and crews, ready to react quickly to possible violations of airspace.

In a nationwide raid, 25 suspected members and supporters of a terrorist organization were arrested early Wednesday.
Officials said the network, part of a wider right-wing movement, was already well established with a concrete plan to overthrow the German state by force and install a new government.
What we know so far
The raids were announced by Germany's federal prosecution agency and German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann. Buschmann said the investigations were directed against a suspected terrorist network with known ties to the ReichsbĂŒrger movement. He said that the raids had taken place on individuals suspected of planning an armed attack on state institutions.
"Since this morning a large anti-terror operation is taking place. The Federal Public Prosecutor General is investigating a suspected terror network from the ReichsbĂŒrger scene," Buschmann wrote. "The suspicion exists that an armed attack on constitutional organs was planned."
The search operation is reported to have covered 130 properties belonging to 52 suspects in 11 German states.
According to prosecution officials, the arrested suspects "belong to a terrorist organization founded by the end of November 2021 at the latest, which has set itself the goal of overcoming the existing state order in Germany and replacing it with its own form of state, which has already been worked out in outline."
Of the 25 men and women arrested, 24 were from Germany and one suspected supporter is from Russia. One arrest took place in Austria and one in Italy. There are 27 other suspects, the federal prosecutor's office said.
Two ringleaders identified
Prosecutors identified the suspected ringleaders only as Heinrich XIII P. R. and Ruediger v. P., in line with German privacy rules. The news magazine Der Spiegel reported that the former was a well-known 71-year-old member of a minor German noble family, while the latter was a 69-year-old former paratrooper.
According to prosecutors, P. R., who the group planned to install as the new leader of Germany, had made contact with Russian officials seeking to establish a new order in Germany once the Berlin government was overthrown. A Russian woman, Vitalia B, had allegedly given him help with this. The Russian embassy in Berlin denied having links to far-right terror groups.
A currently-serving soldier in the Bundeswehr's Special Forces Command (KSK) as well as several Bundeswehr reservists are also among suspects in the case, a spokesperson for Germany's Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD) told the DPA news agency. A search was reported to have been carried out at the soldier's home and his barracks office in the state of Baden-WĂŒrttemberg.
The trigger for the raids was an investigation into another ReichsbĂŒrger group that had planned to kidnap German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said the case revealed the threat posed by the ReichsbĂŒrger movement.
"The investigations provide a glimpse into the abyss of a terrorist threat from the ReichsbĂŒrger scene," Faeser said in a statement. "We know how to defend ourselves with all our might against the enemies of democracy," she added.
The president of the German parliament's lower house, BÀrbel Bas, said the operation shows "that our democratic constitutional state is attentive and capable of action."
Belief in violence to overthrow 'deep state'
The group had targeted members of the Bundeswehr and police in a bid to achieve their goals. It had formed a "military arm" and a council presided over by Heinrich XIII P. R.
Speaking at a press conference,  German Attorney General Peter Frank said that the organization had formed around P. R. at the end of November 2021.
Frank said the group had established a council that was intended to act as the government of the new state with some individuals already designated for ministerial roles. Among them, said the attorney general, was a former member of the Bundestag who was to take over the justice portfolio.
To implement their plans the group's members were prepared to use military means and violence against state representatives and were willing to kill to achieve their goals. According to the investigators, the members of the group "followed a conglomerate of conspiracy myths consisting of narratives of the so-called 'ReichsbĂŒrger' as well as QAnon ideology."
The prosecutors added that the group's adherents believe Germany is ruled by a so-called "deep state," similar to baseless claims about the United States that were made by former President Donald Trump.
The ReichsbĂŒrger movement is made up of a number of small organizations and individuals, mainly in the states of Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Bavaria. They do not accept the legality of the Federal Republic of Germany or any of its government authorities.
The movement argues that the German constitution prior to World War II was never properly nullified and that the formation of the former West Germany in 1949, and now reunified Germany, was therefore never valid.
