I'm bored so this is a random deep dive on a god/goddess in greek and roman mythology(part one)
Juno is the roman version of Hera (the Greek goddess who married Zeus)
Juno/Hera is the goddess of Marriage, but is mostly known as The consort of Zeus and Jupiter
Thair symbol is A Peacock. in art Peacocks have symbolised beauty, rebirth, wealth, and Sinfull pride.
Hera Is the mother of 3 children
Ares (greek god of war)
Hephaestus (greek god of fire and divine smith)
Habe (the Greek goddess of Youth and cupbearer to the gods on mount Olympus).
Eileithya (goddess of childbirth) was sometimes considered as a child of hera.
and in some myths Zeus was the father of her children
That past Part is similar to Juno.
She gave Jupiter four children
Mars (God of war)
Vulcan (god of blacksmith)
Juventes (goddess of youth and the cupbearer to the gods/goddess')
Lucina (goddess of Childbirth)
Speaking of Juno. she Married her brother which is Jupiter. I have no idea if it's the same in the Greek side of stuff but Juno married her own brother :)
Thank You and goodbye:)

An Introduction to Eileithya
there's even less known about her than I got for Brandarius! Eileithya is the vat-priest that raised Artemis. I would put a physical description here but I haven't even really decided on that. here is the WIP: She resembles a human woman, her stature barely changed by augmentation, spare for the mechadendrites on her back. You get the feeling there is more augments under her skin, though, that you simply cannot see. She wears Repleator's green robes in a manner that flares out around her legs. She would be attractive, if it wasn't for that uncanny idea that she might be skin stretched over metal. Eileithya has one function, and that is to raise the vatborn skitarii into the warriors they were always meant to be. She watches over the vats, making sure that the conditions inside are perfect, and watches them grow, talks to them, and waits patiently until they are ready. Once they are, she will aid the genitors in extracting the bodies from the vats...and she'll then take care of them to the moment she accompanies them to the surgery where they get their first augmentations. She speaks of each of them as if they are her own offspring, and expresses pride and joy at their successes. It is unsure if this is genuinely how she feels, or if the mechanical protocols in her head have decided that this is the best way to act for optimal performance in the skits. perhaps it is a combination of the two. She is very practical about "her kids" however, and does not seem to have much issues with the vat grown babies being used for all kinds of processes. she's just as happy accompanying one of them to be made into a cherub or a servitor as she is to see them become skitarii or full fledged tech priests. Eileithya will often voice the belief that every role in the grand machine is a honourable one, and that as such each of "her kids" is worth being proud of. She's a bit uncanny about this all sometimes, but Artemis seems to genuinely like her.

More Gods and Their Epithets - Selene, The Moon-Goddess.
We continue our series of posts about the Gods, this time focusing on the powerful Goddess, the titan sister of Helios: Selene, the Moon. Depicted as a woman with long hair in bright saffron robes, Selene is often depicted leading a chariot of winged horses or white heifers. She is the incarnation of the moon, presiding over its cycle and passage of time. Depictions of her sometimes carry the lunar orb and sometimes she is depicted with bull horns for the shape of her lunar crescent.
Famous in mythology for her love of the mortal Endymion, her role in the battle against Typhon in the Dionysiaca, and described as an all-seeing goddess in the Orphic hymns, Selene is a powerful and influential deity in the worship cycle of every Hellenic polytheist.
In terms of cult, Selene was more worshiped in the region of Elis, Argos and in Lacedemonia, the region of Sparta, where she received offers alongside her brother, Helios. Her dream-oracle in Thalamae revealed matters to the querent in sleep after drinking from a holy spring of water.
Her holiest festivals include the Pandia, where she appears as the mother of the full-moon goddess Pandea alongside her father Zeus. The monthly festival of Noumenia (New Moon) is celebrated following the reappearance of Selene's lunar crescent, her cycle being of vital importance to modern Hellenic worship.
As for her epithets, we will list some here:
ALTERNATIVE NAMES
Mene (Μηνη) - From ancient Greek, meaning "Moon" or "Month". It is alternatively used as one of the names of the Goddess in her aspect as the lunar satellite.
CULTIC AND POETIC EPITHETS
Aiglê (Αιγλη) / Hilaeira (Ἱλαειρα)- "Bright/ Softly-shining", these titles declare her dominion over moonlight
Pasiphae (Πασιφαε) - "All-Bright/All-Shining"
Eileithya (Ειλειθυια) - "[of] relief", Eileithya is the Greek goddess of childbirth. It is said that Selene under this aspect protects those who undergo the conception of another's life.
The all-seeing Moon Goddess is one of the most syncretized deities, having been associated in late antiquity/Roman times with the deities Diana, Luna, Artemis, and Hecate. Often by associations with the domain over childbirth, other times by the luminous or mystical aspect associated with moonlight.
In myths, one of Selene's other loves is the satyr-god of nature, Pan. Her daughters with Endymion are the Menae, Goddesses who represent the fifty moons that make up the Olympic cycle of 4 lunar years, upon which we base our modern Hellenic calendar - most often based on the calendar of the region of Athens (Attica).
May Selene's pale kisses shower us with blessings and wisdom! We close the post with her Homeric hymn:
Homeric Hymn 32 to Selene (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C7th - 4th B.C.) : "And next, sweet voiced Mousai (Muses), daughters of Zeus, well skilled in song, tell of the long-winged Mene (Moon) [Selene]. From her immortal head a radiance is shown from heaven and embraces earth; and great is the beauty that ariseth from her shining light. The air, unlit before, glows with the light of her golden crown, and her rays beam clear, whensoever bright Selene having bathed her lovely body in the waters of Okeanos (Oceanus), and donned her far-gleaming raiment, and yoked her strong-necked, shining team, and drives on her long-maned horses at full speed, at eventime in the mid-month: then her great orbit is full and then her beams shine brightest as she increases. So she is a sure token and a sign to mortal men. Once Kronides (Cronides) [Zeus] was joined with her in love; and she conceived an bare a daughter Pandeia, exceeding lovely amongst the deathless gods. Hail, white-armed goddess, bright Selene, mild, bright-tressed queen! And now I will leave you and sing the glorious of men half-divine, whose deeds minstrels, the servants of the Mousai, celebrate with lovely lips."
NOMES ALTERNATIVOS
Mene (Μηνη) - Do grego antigo, quer dizer "Lua" ou "Mês".
Ilítia (Ειλειθυια) - "[do] alívio", Ilítia é a deusa grega do nascimento e do parto.

ALSO I remembered miss Faith Northstar this morning and now headcanon she gives flowers and other gifts to her girlfriends every day uwu
so i've been currently obsessed with the Revenant Coffee Shop by Lisbetadair and have been rereading it almost daily, and I can tell you this with absolute honesty: i still don't know what the fuck a hedge fund trader does and i don't know HOW riley managed to get rich and make enough to have enough disposable income to start a fucking coffee shop from scratch with god knows what equipment just because he had a midlife crisis and moved to Hereford. and because i was offered three options for jobs when i was younger (doctor, engineer, lawyer) i literally don't know any other jobs other than that. (besides cashiers and.. people who work at shops, i guess.) so i'm still reeling on what kind of job Faith Northstar would have. i'm guessing she comes from a decently wealthy, strict conservative christian family with a good background, and then ended up falling out due to their systematic beliefs towards the lgbt community. i have a feeling her parents are avid supporters of republicans and have an ingrained belief that white people are the superior race, and that immigrants and other people of color with their own beliefs (specifically muslims) are "destroying" America. which is kinda sad. but Faith realizes, after spending time with Eirin and Eileithya, that you know, what her parents taught her was wrong and immigrants are just doing their best trying to look out for their children and have a better life in the United States. with all that said about her family, perhaps she would have a job that would be part of the Christian community, such as a manager of a ministry - but her job would have to pay well for her to continuously volunteer at non profit organizations as a well known missionary/evangelist. speaking of jobs, i think she would actually quit working at a Christian centered community and stops being a missionary/evangelist and trying to convert other people to become christians -- because she fell out of faith and became agnostic. (and she realizes that, why is she trying to force other people to convert to her religion when they didn't ask for it?) she then escapes her family's clutches in America and settles down with Eileithya and Eirin in a quaint suburban neighborhood in Copenhagen, where she finds a decent paying job as a florist. While adjusting to her new life that was a stark contrast from where she originally came from, (eg: lived in a large house with a swimming pool and then moved to an average sized flat) she soon finds it to be charming rather than annoying, and decides to make do with what she has. While she doesn't really make enough money to buy luxurious gifts for her two girlfriends (about to become her fiancées if Eirin doesn't fuck up) every day of the month, she does make enough for small gifts, like chocolates, small trinkets, flower crowns and all. But usually she gives them bouquets of flowers, maybe not everyday but weekly, from the discarded bin. These flowers are usually almost close to wilting and dying out, their colors faded, but it's free, so that's what she gives them. (She makes up for it by tying a pretty ribbon around the flowers. And the vases she got at the thrift shop were really pretty, so..) and also since i'm on mobile right now i can't fuckibg click the return button without
making it go here for some reason?? so forgive the long paragraph. this became longer than expected so sorry. anyways yeah stan these three pls 🤍🖤❤️

Hekate's Wheel of the Year 2022
The following is the calendar for Hekatean Witches for the year 2022. The calendar is based on the teachings of Cyndi Brannen and her book Keeping Her Keys, a book dedicated to Hekate and learning witchcraft under Hekate’s influence. I’ve added some epithets of Hekate that relate to the seasons as well.

Summer Solstice/Litha
June 24th, 2022
June - Hekate as Pantos Kosmou Kleidokhos/Keeper of the Keys of the Cosmos

A new Legacy Challenge
The Grecian Mythology Legacy Challenge
Synopsis: Before there were what we call the modern gods and goddesses of today from Mount Olympus, or The Olympians, there were those that came before them. Like every story, it has its origins. Gaea, birthed from Chaos, and Ouranus, birthed from Gaea, who then began to create their own legacy. In this Legacy Challenge, you will tell the story of the gods and goddesses from it’s very core to what it is today, from Gaea to Zeus and his many, many children.
Getting Started/Rules:
Disclaimer: For the purposes of this challenge,we’re just going to start out with Gaea and Ouranos as there are MANY MANY children born from Chaos and Gaea, followed by Ouranos and Gaea, and that is just too much time and energy spent. CC and Mods are also very much welcomed!
It would very much help to start a New Game, and by creating your sims. They must be married and of the opposite gender. Gaea=Mother Earth and Ouranos=The Father/Starry Sky. They may look however you please, if you have the Expansion Pack Get To Work, they can be aliens, if you have The Game Packs Realm of Magic, Vampires. You are very much welcome to make them into Mages or Vampires, the choice is up to you! If you have seasons you may start in any season you see fit.
After you are done creating your founders, you MUST move them into Newcrest on the biggest Lot which should be Twin Oracle Point. (It even sounds mythological XD). If you want more of a challenge try living Off-Grid.
You may not have any kind of job as you are just starting out, so in order to make your living wages you may:
Fish
Garden
Paint
Wood Working
Sculpting
And sell Collectibles (anything found)
Generation alpha : The Creation
Gaea, also known as mother earth, very much loved her children, too bad Ouranos didn’t feel the same and locked them all away to never be seen again… supposedly…

Zeus may start to look for his “Hera”
Succession:
Like the previous Generation once Cronos is an old man who fights with his son (teenage) Zeus multiple times. Cronos then dies from exhaustion or anger (you can cheat this) and Zeus takes over.
This will end generation Beta with Zeus succeeding his Father.

Hera – The Greek Queen of the Gods
Hera (Roman counterpart Juno) is one of the Twelve Olympians and is married to Zeus, the most powerful of all the Greek gods, making her the Queen of the Gods. She is the Greek goddess of women, family, marriage, and childbirth, and the protector of married woman. While she’s seen as a mother figure, Hera is known for being jealous and vengeful against the illegitimate children and many lovers of her husband.
Hera – Origins and Story
Hera was extremely venerated by Greeks who dedicated numerous, impressive temples to her worship, including the Heraion of Samon—which is one of the largest Greek temples in existence. In art, she is commonly seen with her sacred animals: the lion, peacock, and cow. She is always depicted as majestic and queenly.
Hera is the eldest daughter of the titans, Cronus and Rhea. As the myth goes, Cronus learned of a prophecy in which he was fated to be overthrown by one of his children. Terrified, Cronus decided to swallow all of his children whole in an attempt to circumvent the prophecy. Rhea took her youngest child, Zeus, and hid him away, instead giving her husband a strong to swallow. Zeus later tricked his father into regurgitating his siblings, including Hera, who had all continued to grow and mature into adulthood inside of their father courtesy of their immortality.
Hera’s marriage to Zeus was fraught with infidelity as he had many affairs with various other women. Hera’s jealousy towards her husband’s lovers and children meant she spent all of her time and energy tormenting them, trying to make their lives as hard as possible and sometimes even going so far as to have them killed.
The Children of Hera
Hera has many children, but there appears to be some confusion about the exact number. Different sources give different numbers, but in general, the following figures are considered the main children of Hera:
Ares – god of war
Eileithyia – goddess of childbirth
Enyo – a war goddess
Eris – goddess of discord. However, sometimes Nyx and/or Erebus are portrayed as her parents.
Hebe – goddess of youth
Hephaestus – god of fire and the forge. Hera is said to have conceived and given birth to Hephaestus alone, but disliked him for his ugliness.
Typhon – a serpent monster. In most sources, he’s depicted as the son of Gaia and Tartarus, but in one source he’s the son of Hera alone.
Hera’s Marriage to Zeus
Hera’s marriage to Zeus was an unhappy one. Initially, Hera refused his offer of marriage. Zeus then played on her compassion for animals by transforming himself into a little bird and pretending to be in distress outside Hera’s window. Hera carried the bird into her room to protect it and warm it, but Zeus than transformed back into himself and raped her. She agreed to marry him out of shame.
Hera was loyal to her husband, never engaging in any extramarital affair. This strengthened her association with marriage and fidelity. Unfortunately for Hera, Zeus was not a loyal partner and had numerous love affairs and illegitimate children. This was something she had to battle with all the time, and while she couldn’t stop him, she could take her revenge. Even Zeus was afraid of her wrath.
Stories Featuring Hera
There are several stories connected to Hera, most of them involving Zeus’ lovers or illegitimate children. Of these, the most famous are:
Heracles – Hera is the sworn enemy and unwitting stepmother of Heracles. As an illegitimate child of Zeus, she tried to prevent his birth in any way possible, but ultimately failed. As an infant, Hera sent two serpents to kill him as he slept in his crib. Heracles strangled the snakes with his bare hands and survived. When he became an adult, Hera drove him mad which caused him to lash out and murder his entire family which later led him to undertaking his famous labors. During these labors, Hera continued to make his life as hard as possible, nearly killing him many times.
Leto – Upon discovering her husband Zeus’ latest infidelity with the goddess Leto, Hera convinced the nature spirits not to let Leto from giving birth on any land. Poseidon took pity on Leto and took her to the magical floating island of Delos, which was not a part of the nature spirits’ domain. Leto gave birth to her children Artemis and Apollo, much to Hera’s disappointment.
Io – In an attempt to catch Zeus with a mistress, Hera raced down to earth. Zeus saw her coming and changed his mistress Io into a snow-white cow in order to trick Hera. Hera was unmoved and saw through the deception. She requested Zeus give her the beautiful cow as a gift, effectively keeping Zeus and his lover apart.
Paris – In the story of the golden apple, the three goddesses Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite all vie for the title of the most beautiful goddess. Hera offered the Trojan prince Paris political power and control over all of Asia. When she was not chosen, Hera became enraged and supported Paris’ opponents (the Greeks) in the Trojan War.
Lamia – Zeus was in love with Lamia, a mortal and the Queen of Libya. Hera cursed her, turning her into a hideous monster and killed her children. Lamia’s curse prevented her from closing her eyes and she was forced to forever look upon the image of her dead children.
Symbols and Symbolism of Hera
Hera is often shown with the following symbols, which were significant to her:
Pomegranate – a symbol of fertility.
Cuckoo – a symbol of Zeus’ love for Hera, as he had turned himself into a cuckoo to worm his way into her bedroom.
Peacock – a symbol of immortality and beauty
Diadem – a symbol of royalty and nobility
Scepter – also a symbol of royalty, power and authority
Throne – another symbol of royalty and power
Lion – represents her power, strength and immortality
Cow –a nurturing animal
As a symbol, Hera represented fidelity, loyalty, marriage and the ideal woman. Although she was driven to commit vengeful acts, she always remained faithful to Zeus. This strengthens Hera’s connection to marriage, family and faithfulness, making her a universal wife and mother figure.
Hera In Other Cultures
Hera as a matriarchal mother figure and the head of the household is a concept that predates the Greeks and is a part of many cultures.
Matriarchal Origins
Hera has many characteristics that are also attributed to pre-Hellenic goddesses. There has been some scholarship dedicated to the possibility that Hera was originally the goddess of a long-ago matriarchal people. It’s theorized that her later transformation into a marriage goddess was an attempt to match the patriarchal expectations of the Hellenic people. The intense themes of jealousy and resistance over Zeus’ extramarital affairs are meant to undercut her independence and power as a female goddess. However, the idea that Hera may be a patriarchal expression of a pre-Hellenic, powerful Great Goddess is fairly fringe among Greek mythology scholars.
Hera in Roman Mythology
Hera’s counterpart in Roman mythology is Juno. Like Hera, Juno’s sacred animal is the peacock. Juno was said to have watched over the women of Rome and was sometimes called Regina by her followers, meaning “Queen”. Juno, unlike Hera, had a distinct warlike aspect, which was apparent in her attire as she was often depicted armed.
Hera In Modern Times
Hera is featured in a multitude of different pop culture artifacts. Notably, she appears as an antagonist in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson books. She often works against the main characters, especially those born of Zeus’ infidelity. Hera is also the name of a prominent makeup line by Seoul Beauty, a Korean makeup brand.

Her legacy as a Queen Mother as well as a woman scorned still works to inspire artists and poets today.
