“No more cuts.”
That was the message being spread across the steps of the Regina Legislative Building by over 3,000 teachers, students and community members on Saturday, during a rally for public education.
“This is just the beginning of the fight that we will have if we do not start seeing this government put a real investment into public education,” said Saskatchewan Teachers Federation (STF) president. Samantha Becotte,
People from across the province were in attendance, demanding the provincial government stop cuts to public education, and provide funding to meet all students’ needs.

Hi,
This is me, Noura Ayman,
A medical lab specialist and I have been working in the Turkish Friendship Hospital for four years and studying a master's degree at Al-Aqsa University but have not yet finished it.
I am married to Ibrahim who works the same profession at Al-Shifa Hospital and we were studying a master's degree together.
My story in short is that we have been out of Gaza for treatment in Egypt since July 2023, and we have done an “in vitro fertilization” to give birth after four failed operations in Gaza.
We had a very beautiful baby.
But sadly that the war happened in Gaza in October 2023 and we have been stuck in Egypt ever since without any source of income, and I don't know how to provide for my beautiful daughter's Hanan needs and how to pay for the house and the rest of life, plus our house was bombed in Gaza.
So please support me to set up my own medical analysis laboratory and complete a master's degree in Egypt.
I've launched a https://gofund.me/32f1f5e4 campaign to start our life from the beginning.
I thank you very much for your interest and support.
Urgent!! Please help Noura, Ibrahim, and their baby Hanan!! They were studying in college in Egypt when the war started, and now they're stuck there with no home or source of income. Please help them complete their education, and afford basic necessities for themselves and their daughter!!
Posts explaining their situation here and here

Please help Abd!! He and his family have already escaped to Egypt, but now he needs funds to continue his education!! He is studying to become a doctor, but he cannot do it alone!! This is his dream, and with your help, he could save so many other Palestinians and other people in the future!!
€2,677/€30,000
Rebuild with me: A journey from Deprivation of education 💥 to the hope of education and achieving goals 💫.
⚠️ 》 🚨 Urgent help needed 🚨!
⏰️ Deadline 30 Nov ⏳️
Hello everyone, I'm Abdulrahman, a Medical student from gaza. The ongoing war hasn't just destroyed my house and my university- it has shattered my livelihood and my dreams to be a doctor. I refuse to surrender, and I become more resilient.
In May, I evacuated to Egypt alone without my family to complete my education and to start a new journey in my life without family to achieve my goals and become a doctor to help my people in such as these circumstances.
💡 Why I need your help:
I'm aiming to raise only € 5900 to pay the international student fees in Alexandria University, which is $ 4000 for each year. In this time, I should at least pay tuition fees for the first year. Also, I need $350 monthly for living costs and rent.
This support will allow me to start my education again and complete the journey of my dream. I will be able to take my exams at the university and learn as anyone in this world. With this help, you will begin saving an ambitious person future and regain a sense of stability for a person who thinks a lot in his family suffering in Gaza.
Every donation, no matter how small, means the world to us. I've shared more details in the campaign link below. Your kindness will truly make a difference.

How to Use Home Equity Loans to Fund a Child’s Education
Introduction Paying for a child’s education can be a significant financial challenge. One way to manage these costs is by leveraging the equity in your home. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use home equity loans to fund your child’s education, explained in a straightforward and engaging manner.
1. Understand Home Equity Loans
What is Home Equity? Home equity is the portion of your home’s value that you actually own. It’s calculated by subtracting any outstanding mortgage balance from the current market value of your home.
What is a Home Equity Loan? A home equity loan allows you to borrow money against this equity. You receive a lump sum and repay it over time with fixed monthly payments. It’s often referred to as a second mortgage.
2. Assess Your Home Equity
Evaluate Your Home’s Value Determine the current market value of your home. You can use online tools or consult a real estate professional for an estimate.
Calculate Your Available Equity Subtract the remaining balance on your mortgage from your home’s current market value. This is your available equity.
Check Your Credit Score A good credit score can help you secure better loan terms. Make sure your credit score is in good shape before applying.
3. Determine Your Loan Amount
Estimate Educational Costs Gather information about the total cost of your child’s education, including tuition, books, and other expenses.
Decide How Much to Borrow Based on the educational costs and your available home equity, decide how much you need to borrow. Remember to consider how much you can afford to repay monthly.
4. Apply for the Loan
Research Lenders Compare offers from various lenders to find the best terms and interest rates. Look for lenders who offer home equity loans with favorable terms for education expenses.
Prepare Documentation You’ll need to provide information about your income, credit history, and home value. Make sure you have all necessary documents ready.
Submit Your Application Complete the application process with your chosen lender. They will assess your financial situation and home equity to determine loan approval.
5. Manage Your Loan
Understand Repayment Terms Review the loan terms carefully. Know your interest rate, repayment schedule, and any fees associated with the loan.
Create a Budget Incorporate the loan payments into your monthly budget. Ensure you can manage the additional expense alongside your regular financial commitments.
Monitor Your Home’s Value Keep an eye on your home’s value and any changes to your mortgage balance. This will help you manage your equity effectively and plan for future financial needs.
6. Consider Alternatives
Explore Other Funding Options Home equity loans aren’t the only option for funding education. Consider other sources such as scholarships, grants, or student loans.
Weigh the Risks Using home equity comes with risks, such as the possibility of foreclosure if you can’t make your payments. Make sure you fully understand these risks before proceeding.
Conclusion Using a home equity loan to fund a child’s education can be a viable option, but it requires careful planning and consideration. By understanding your home equity, evaluating your needs, and managing the loan responsibly, you can help provide financial support for your child’s education while maintaining your financial health.

"The Province of Manitoba intends to spend more on K-12 schools in the province next year.
On Wednesday, Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Wayne Ewasko announced the provincial government's operating funding plan for Manitoba's public schools, sitting at $1.65 billion in spending. This marks an increase of $100.2 million in new operating funding, according to provincial officials, and a 6.1 per cent increase over 2022/23 levels
“Our government believes that all students must succeed regardless of where they live, their background or circumstances, and this year’s investment will provide an operating funding increase to each and every school division across the province,” said Ewasko. “Every division will see an increase in funding next year, which will help them engage students and invest in the programs and services."
A new funding formula guarantee will be set at 100 per cent in the new model, instead of the previous 98 per cent, which will mean school divisions will be getting at least a 2.5 per cent increase in funding."
