Hi Jenn. Thinking about the Goodreads category changes with no more MG, GN, or poetry. Do you think that reflects a change in the market? Are MG and GNs on their way out?
short answer: No.
long answer: This person is talking about the GoodReads Choice Awards -- in previous years there have been more categories, this year they took away the Children's & MG, GN and Poetry categories. You can read more about it in this PW article.
In the words of GR, "[the] Goodreads Choice Awards reflect the books that are most popular with our members" -- the people who most use GoodReads are adults who are big time readers of YA and grown-up books. The people who care most about kids books and GN are, well... kids. Kids don't use GoodReads.
You can see the difference for yourself -- just look at MG vs adult books and how many ratings each get. I just randomly looked at DOGMAN: GRIME AND PUNISHMENT. Published in 2020, it's an insanely popular MG GN in an insanely popular series that has sold tens of millions of copies. This installment alone has sold 2.5 million copies. It has 7,816 ratings on GoodReads.
I randomly picked a 2020 book from author Sarah J Maas to compare to. It's called HOUSE OF EARTH AND BLOOD -- not a title I'm familiar with, book one of a series I've never heard of (compared to her other huge series that I def have heard of!!) -- I'm saying, obviously she's a super popular author and this book did great by anyone's reckoning, but it's VERY far from the most popular book by Maas, and has sold a fraction of what GRIME AND PUNISHMENT sold in the same amount of time. It has 492,584 ratings on GoodReads. Her more popular have GR ratings numbers in the millions -- whereas Dav Pilkey, who again, in the real world, sells significantly better than Maas, has ratings that hover in the low thousands across the board.
So to recap: 1) GoodReads just isn't catering toward kids/MG/GN readers; 2) The world in general treats kids/MG/GN books as less-than and "not real" books, this is more of the disrespect we are used to. 3) GR is trash -- er, I MEAN, GR is not an accurate reflection of the real world and real readers. 4) Kids books and GN are not going anywhere.

BL Awards: Catch Me Sobbing Category
Sad things are just as important as the not-sad things and thus...
Scene that has me sobbing for whatever reason.
(BL Awards: At the end of an amazing year of absolute chaos in the world of BL. I come to you with my favorite moments of the year divided into categories that would not make it into any respectable Award show. But this is Tumblr. You know what you signed up for.)
Parpai reading from Sky's journal (Love in the Air)
I don't want to discuss the ethics of this and mileage varies for every other person. But this had me sobbing to the point my mother yelled at me for crying over fictional characters. It's how both of them are hurting. It's about Sky not wanting to open up. It's about Pai being confused and hanging over Sky's words. Pai doesn't know what happened, to Sky in the past and to Sky now and he can't accept that Sky would say all those things. Fort and Peat were acting. Truly in their Oscars bag. I remember holding my breath as if I was underwater throughout this scene. Uff.
Sky not crying and Pai crying in his stead (Love in the Air)
(I can't find a gif for the specific line.)
Who knew that not crying was worse than crying? This scene knocked me off the face of the earth. They are both reeling and the emotional intelligence Prapai shows here, god, another writer, another actor could have made this so much worse than it was. But in Mame and FortPeat's hands this was beautiful. It's gentle, it's mature, it's taking care of Sky before Pai can go around smacking people/taking revenge. But that was not the goal of this story. Revenge tel lene gaya. (revenge goes to buy oil. kinda like revenge go to hell.) This is about grace, this is about healing. I have never seen a narrative like this dealt with such gentleness and keeping the characters 'not-broken'. idk how to explain this. Gun gets everything that is coming to him but in this moment it's not about him. It's about SKY.
GAP: Mon being confused by Sam and crying
Something less intense. I feel for both our girlies. Sam is constantly going hot and cold and that is so taxing for everyone around her especially Mon, who has loved her since she was a kid. tbf Sam doesn't know this. And Sam is herself so tragic. Never expressing who she is and what she wants leaving for those around her to interpret her intentions. As much as I feel for her though, I can't see her as a decent boss.
Triage: Tin goes into a coma and Tol is reading to him
I did not expect this to hurt me as much as it did. I can't quantify even now why I love this show so much. But after the POV switch something about this show just fit. I was going to be so mad if they ended up unhappy. I was barely starting to get comfortable with BLs and their happy endings. And then this hit. It didn't end unhappy but I sure thought it would. (Also the clock tower kiss is just something else)
The Eclipse: Every AkkAyan scene towards the end
There are so many gifs/scenes where this boy is crying. First must have had quite the month crying over and over each episode. He is so stuck in his circumstances, in his own head about what's right and wrong. Brittle things. And you see that with how he is caught in between Chadok and Ayan.
ChadokDika story
Dika didn't deserve it. That's it. (tbf Chadok didn't deserve it either.)
(There's many different ways to kill the one you love / slowest way is never loving them enough)
180 Degrees Longitude Passes Between Us
Literally everyone is hurting on this show and hurting everyone else. And it all just HURTS. I can't fully put a bad guy/good guy label on any of them. It's so complexly human. So simply human. So beautifully human and so pathetically human. Seeing my own family in this show didn't help. Mol can't move on from her past. Inn can't see the future. Waan can't live in the present. Them always being on a different wavelength keeps hurting and I think some part of them recognizes this. The ending doesn't help. It's realistic. It's hard. And it hurts. This show is just:
The surety that no matter how much it hurts it would end happy help enjoy the angst so much better. I didn't have to worry someone might end up dead or they might not end up together. (there are exceptions to this, as you can see)

ACM nominations out this morning.
Cody Johnson was nominated for five categories, including Entertainer of the Year. Love to see it.
Flatland Cavalry is up for group of the year. If they lose, we riot.
How on earth is Dylan Scott a “new” male artist? The man has been the bane of my radio country existence for like eight years going strong now.
I do not care about almost only of these artists. And even the ones whose music doesn’t flat out offend me on the surface, I’m starting to get real sick of because of the overrated hype. Lainey Wilson has vocals, her music is okay, not great. Can we please stop acting like she’s the best thing since sliced bread?
The ACMs are corrupt and I want nothing to do with them.
I WILL be watching with a glass of whiskey in one hand and my phone in the other live tweeting my thoughts, as per usual. I grew up watching these awards. I am far too invested to give up on them now, even though it’s quite masochistic.

Fraser was born on December 3, 1968, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Canadian parents Carol Mary (née Généreux) and Peter Fraser. He is the youngest of their four sons.
He is a Canadian-American🇨🇦🇺🇸 actor. Fraser had his breakthrough in 1992 with the comedy Encino Man and the drama School Ties. He gained further prominence for his starring roles in the comedies With Honors (1994) and George of the Jungle (1997) and emerged as a star playing Rick O'Connell in The Mummy trilogy (1999–2008). He took on dramatic roles in Gods and Monsters (1998), The Quiet American (2002), and Crash (2004), and further fantasy roles in Bedazzled (2000) and Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008).
Fraser's film work slowed from the late 2000s to mid-2010s due to the poor box office performances of many of his films, and various health and personal problems, including the fallout from a sexual assault committed against him in 2003 by Philip Berk, the then-president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Fraser branched into television with roles in the Showtime drama The Affair (2016–2017), the FX series Trust (2018), and the Max series Doom Patrol (2019–2023). His film career was revitalized by roles in Steven Soderbergh's No Sudden Move (2021) and Darren Aronofsky's The Whale (2022). Fraser's starring role as a morbidly obese gay man in the latter earned him critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including the Academy Award for Best Actor, becoming the first Canadian to win this category.

[tv review] ds9 3x16 "prophet motive" (1995)
pretty exciting to learn that the powerful beings that inhabit the wormhole and are worshipped by the majority of the bajoran populace as gods are communists tbh.
it’s honestly pretty surprising how successful the ferengi comedy episodes are on ds9 considering how much of a dud they are on tng. “house of quark” is still probably the best in this category, but this one is still a solid entry.
ds9 just seemed to have a much better handle on what was funny about the ferengi, what could be mined for genuine drama/empathy, and what should be jettisoned because it was bad television or just shockingly upfront antisemitism.
in another “did ronald d. moore bring this to ds9 or did he just take it with him from ds9 to bsg” detail, when we see the leatherbound book containing zek’s new rules of acquisition the corners are cut off, which is the way books & other paper products look in battlestar to help visually distinguish the humans in that show from earth.
in the b-plot of this episode, bashir is grumpy about being nominated for a prestigious medical award because it’s typically only actually awarded to very old doctors (“so when you said a prestigious award-winning doctor you just meant a very old doctor,” sorry that one’s for my dimension 20 folx). he makes a big huff about how he isn’t going to win anyway so he doesn’t care, but then throughout the episode his friends tease him about it & it becomes clear he really does hope he wins, even going so far as to write up an acceptance speech.
i love shit like chief o’brien casually bringing it up in conversation like it’s something he knows anything about and then whining “how could they give it to roget!!!” when the winner is announced like it’s a fucking sportsball game or something. fucking priceless. and i loved seeing all of bashir’s colleagues gathered to do a watch party of the ceremony. i just love how much the crew feels like a family. it never feels forced, there’s genuine warmth there.
this isn’t an all-timer or anything, but it’s a fun episode all-around!

POETRY BOOK OF THE DAY: When Mine Canaries Stop Singing by Nancy Avery Dafoe
On SALE now! Pre-order Price Guarantee: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/when-mine-canaries-stop-singing-by-nancy-avery-dafoe/
When Mine Canaries Stop Singing is a lyrical warning for us to take better care of the #Earth and all of her species or find ourselves in the extinction category. This #poetry collection is centered around what we have failed to do, but also what we still could do to improve our prospects, reduce our carbon #footprint, and extend life in all its glorious forms on our #planet.
Poet, author, educator Nancy Avery Dafoe has 13 published books with her 14th coming out this year. Her most recent books include the poetry collection The House Was Quiet, But the Mind Was Anxious (FLP, 2022) a memoir Unstuck in Time (PWP, 2021), and a literary novel Socrates is Dead Again (2022). Her poetry won the William Faulkner/Wisdom award in 2016, and her prose poetry won a national award from the Soul-Making Literary competition. She is a member of the CNY Branch of the National League of American Pen Women and lives in Homer, New York.
PRAISE FOR When Mine Canaries Stop Singing by Nancy Avery Dafoe
Nancy Dafoe’s When Mine Canaries Stop Singing is an important book dealing with the existential crisis of our age. In poetry form, we hear and feel the stark reality of our planet’s distress. A necessary question remains in our hearts after reading: what steps will we take to ensure that our blue sphere survives and thrives?
–Bobbie Dumas Panek, author of Just Another Day
I was assembling an anthology of poetry and essays about ecology, and Nancy Dafoe happened to be working on ecology poems simultaneously. I don’t know if my anthology encouraged her to write more ecology poems; however, I can see her aspects about ecological concerns even stretches to the stars. We have such a fragile planet made worse by our own wars, pollution, and driving animals into extinction. Dafoe points these facts out lyrically, beginning with her preface, through beavers, leafy sea dragons, people stranded on rooftops during a hurricane, concern for the trees, our carbon footprint, rivers going biologically dead. Don’t say that Nancy Avery Dafoedid not warn you.
–Martin Willitts, Jr, author of ecological poetry, Not Only the Extraordinary are Exiting the Dream World (Flowstone Press, 2022).

Anthem wins ESG Consultancy of the Year and Gold with Doppelmayr in PR Awards Asia 2023
Leading independent communications and marketing agency Anthem has been named ESG Consultancy of the Year in the PR Awards Asia 2023.
Anthem and Doppelmayr also won a Gold award in the Transport category for work to establish the business as a credible, innovative and sustainable transport solution to help New Zealand achieve its environmental, social and economic goals. Anthem was also named a finalist in the Corporate Affairs category for this work.
It is the second consecutive year Anthem has gained recognition as a top consultancy at the PR Awards Asia, having won Boutique PR Consultancy of the Year in 2022, as well as an award for the ANZ Watch Women Win campaign in the Corporate Publications category.
Carolyn Kerr, Anthem Co-Founder and CEO, says the ESG Consultancy of the Year award is the culmination of years of work by Anthem to reduce its environmental impact, advance Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices and strategies for its business and its clients, and foster an inclusive and diverse workplace.
"We are honoured to be recognised as ESG Consultancy of the Year at the PR Awards Asia, particularly as we are benchmarked against our peers across the Asia Pacific region. This award is testament to the diverse talents of our team of outstanding professionals who are committed to building a more sustainable future. We are energised by our journey of continuous improvement and will do all we can to walk lightly on this earth, support people around us and maintain a healthy and robust business that contributes positively to Aotearoa’s economic stability.”
Anthem’s ESG strategy is defined by its values: Care Deeply, actively pursuing a more sustainable business that is focused on creating environmental, social and economic value; Do It Better, increasing our knowledge and capability through investing in our sustainability competency and supporting our clients to strive for improvement and to share their sustainability journeys; and Be the Difference, contributing to sustainable outcomes for our business, clients, employees, communities and environment.
“Through this strategy, we have scaled our expertise in sustainability. Highlights in 2022 included becoming the official communications partner of Institute of Directors Chapter Zero, deepening our membership of the Sustainable Business Council, and significantly growing our work with clients to support their sustainability strategies. We also formed a research and thought leadership series, Fair Enough?, in collaboration with Talbot Mills research which analyses reputational issues through a fairness lens, covering climate change and sustainability issues,” adds Kerr.
This work culminates in Anthem releasing its first sustainability report today, which outlines the agency’s progress, achievements and future goals.
For client Doppelmayr, the world’s largest ropeways transport manufacturer and operator (cable car, gondola and ski lifts), Anthem devised a communications strategy to shift local perceptions of the business. Instead of being seen purely as a global tourism operator, the programme built an appreciation of Doppelmayr as a credible, trusted and inspiring business with viable, sustainable urban transport solutions that will help New Zealand achieve its environmental, social and economic goals.
“Our communications strategy stimulated a nationwide conversation about the many sustainability benefits ropeway transport systems provide, including zero direct carbon emissions, easy access to provide mobility for all, low-cost construction and better value for communities, vehicle reduction and job and skills creation,” adds Kerr.
The PR Awards Asia celebrate Asia Pacific’s most outstanding, inspired and successful campaigns, individuals and organisations in the communications industry. Judged by leading communications professionals and senior agency executives, the awards are an opportunity to spotlight work that drives the public relations industry forward. The list of all PR Awards Asia award winners can be found here.

TJ has been lauded by critics for having his own musical and vocal styles, although he admits to his strong vocals being reminiscent of Neil Young . “That’s the way I sing. Can’t help it”. Raised in 5 Eastern cities by the age of 10, TJ now lives in a community on the edge of the Angeles National Forest above LA where he writes songs that transmit an authenticity harking back to the 60s. Does “harking back” mean he lives in the past? Not at all. “That era of music was when artists were writing about the challenges of a generation instead of the more personal and relationship-oriented pop and rock that currently dominates the airwaves.” He goes after that vision delivering his passion for the environment. “Nature is free from the human condition that afflicts humanity, and is an inspiration that can help us all. By observing nature we can learn more about our own true natures.” Musically TJ, who has a touring history covering the northern American Midwest and Southern California, surrounds himself with some of the top musician’s musicians to be found today on his recordings like Rock Deadrick, Drums & Percussion (Tracy Chapman) David Sutton, Bass (Tracy Chapman) Matt Laug, Drums (Slash’s Snakepit), Lance Morrison, Bass, (Don Henley) Tim Pierce, Guitar (Crowded House, Dave Matthews) or in his live performances like Phil Parlapiano, Keyboards, (Lowen & Navarro), and Hank Van Sickle, Bass, (John Mayall). Legendary venues such as The Whiskey and The Roxy have hosted his band, “but it’s time to expand on that. The plan is to get out into the rest of the world,” fostered recently by extensive airplay in Europe, from his most recent album “On The Horizon”. The TJ brand of music is also picking up steam in Australia, New Zealand and, of course, across North America. At a time when divisions seem to be so loud in people’s minds, TJ Doyle feels music can bring calm, so he presents ideas that help dissuade the internal discourse that is prevalent in our society today. In “Anonymous” particularly, the singer/songwriter says, ” It is my hope the listener can take away the thought they have something very special in them, and start to fan the flames of this ‘self’, so they can ‘spread their wings and FLY’!” Doyle, describes his music in general as a vehicle to “help people make sense of themselves and the world. That is my prime directive with my music and lyrics.” “Anonymous”, produced by David Z Rivkin (Prince, Fine Young Cannibals) is part of a planned EP, “or maybe an album. “It doesn’t matter anymore. People can now enjoy music from an artist one song at a time. The album will arrive when it’s the ‘right time Incendiary American: “As TJ Doyle Music releases albums and singles, you can hear that he’s more than just a songwriter. He’s a visionary whose work calls for the collaborative effort of musicians who are determined to see it through. Once the textures and dynamics in the music are appropriately executed, Doyle’s unique voice makes that vision complete.” Additional Artist/Song Information: Artist Name: TJ Doyle Song Title: Meant To Be Together Publishing: TJ Doyle Music Publishing Affiliation: BMI Album Title: Meant To Be Together Record Label: Totem Artists Radio Promotion: Loggins Promotion Paul Loggins 310-325-2800 Contact LP Publicity/PR: Loggins Promotion Paul Loggins 310-325-2800 Contact LP Read the full article

I guess that's it for The Game Awards 2022. It's still kind of early in the night. Maybe I'll watch SuperButterBuns' VOD of her reactions. I wonder if Professor Thorgi did a reaction stream.
Anyway, here are my remaining reactions that I let pile up instead of posting as I typed them.
6:47 PM 12/8/2022 Oh. Oh? What's this? Big stage performance with big fantasy staging elements? o Halsey Lilith? So many costumed cloak people and a big demon in the back of the stage? Nice. Ooh. Big architectural thing. O.o Wait. Blizzard? Is this Diablo? Y'know, I never looked into what the story was about in Diablo. Are normal humans travelling into hell? Is hell invading Earth?
6:52 PM 12/8/2022 Best Audio Design. God of War Ragnarok won. I'll be honest: I didn't know who to vote for. But I was so tired of car racing sims and military shooters winning this category, even though I know they do painstakingly gather the realistic sounds. I just wanted some recognition for a fantasy series that has to make up sound effects for creatures that don't exist, magic that doesn't exist, etc. I think that type of creative sound design is much more impressive these days. At least to me.
6:53 PM 12/8/2022 Content Creator of the Year. Nibellion is who I voted for. Ludwig won? Who's that.
6:53 PM 12/8/2022 Most Anticipated game. I voted RE4. Zelda Tears of the Kingdom wins. To be expected.
6:54 PM 12/8/2022 Ooh! More Horizon! Is it III or DLC? Has to be DLC, right? this trailer was too "in medias res" for a part 3. "Burning Shores". The Hollywood Sign is still in tact. LOL And it takes place in Los Angeles? Well, I'm biased.
6:55 PM 12/8/2022 What the---? *o* The Last of Us series cast on stage with the videogame cast? ^o^ Pedro Pascal bowing to the voice actors. ^o^ First, he was all hugging that Grogu puppet at interviews and now this. He seems more fun the more I see him.
Best Action Game. Bayonetta 3. Hell yeah. Doug Bowser accepting the award for Platinum Games. I forgot it was a Nintendo game---franchise since Bayo 2. lol
6:59 PM 12/8/2022 I need to note something. Normally, TGA feels too padded with repetitive trailers, that it feels more like an ad show. But tonight hasn't felt like that at all. Normally, award shows feel so annoying whenever they try to have presenters appear on stage or point out stars in the audience, or especially when they have banter/skits. But none of that has felt annoying to me tonight, astoundingly. I guess it's different---effective when you care about the people taking up the time in the show. Even the devs that I've never heard of, you can feel how important all this recognition is for them. Normally, they get overworked and never recognized. So all of this, this awards show, feels special, whenever the camera turns to them, gives them stage time, gives them a chance to talk, etc. It's nice.
7:09 PM 12/8/2022 Also Keegan Michael Key is doing a comedy skit on stage, and normally I hate those at award shows, but this is nice. Y'know what really helps? This audience is so interactive. The cheering and reactions really help avoid any sense of awkward silence, waiting for jokes to be funny/entertaining. Keeps things flowing. Also the fact that the presenters/banter/skits tonight have been few, but also talking about things I'm actually interested in, when it does get used in the show, really helps. Is toad's mushroom cap a hat?...or not? Hm...???? ^o^ (But also maybe I haven't noticed the banter I'm not interested in, because I'm too busy typing/posting through it. lol)
6:59 PM 12/8/2022 Bandai Namco. Blue Protocol. "Your future needs you." Ooooh.
7:04 PM 12/8/2022 Transformers Reactivate???????? I can't believe I was getting excited for this concept of AI POV, watching time pass, suggesting immortal POV story themes, some kind of alien invasion…And I was eager for this "new" IP. And it turned out to be Transformers. lol Well, looks good.
7:07 PM 12/8/2022 Behemoth VR for Meta? Are people still using Occulus?
7:07 PM 12/8/2022 All these awesome trailers tonight, with cinematic tones and fantasy environments… It reminds me why I'm just not impressed with Avatar The Way of Water. That movie is trying so hard to build hype for itself. One of the trailers is talking about how Avatar is "the story of a generation" or something. And I'm like...These movie people have not seen videogames for the past 10 years.
7:11 PM 12/8/2022 Hey, does this Super Mario Bros Movie clip mean that an upcoming Mario game will have clear pipes?
7:11 PM 12/8/2022 Animal. I wonder why they chose Animal out of all the Muppets. What's this Muppet Mayhem that Geoff mentioned? Yes, we all love Malenia, Animal. lol And an Animal Crossing joke. With Animal. lol These Muppet skits at TGA are always good. ^u^
7:13 PM 12/8/2022 Best Score and Music. God of War Ragnarok. Nice. I voted for them because I still remember that E3 2016 Sony Press Conference when this same composer for God of War conducted the orchestra, and I really enjoyed that music piece from God of War that they played.
7:14 PM 12/8/2022 Animal is still screaming across the auditorium. lol
7:15 PM 12/8/2022 Action RPG from the Life Is Strange devs???????? Ok? Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Angsty. But I like the idea of the protagonist being followed by an ally ghost. Both in terms of interesting AI support during gameplay, and for narrative. The protagonist isn't really alone. Angsty, but still emotional support too.
7:24 PM 12/8/2022 More show-crashing? Ever since Joker did it for Persona 5's collaboration with Super Smash Bros Ultimate, this has been a good gimmick for TGA.
Oh, it's Crash Bandicoot. He did Tweet something yesterday that put everyone on alert. I didn't know they're covering the mascot wearer's face now. Good choice. That was fine for short commercials decades ago, but I don't really want to see a real man's face through Crash's teeth in an awards show's lighting. Because of the circle indentation/patch in Crash's teeth, I can't tell if they covered his human face at the last minute, or if it's purposefully visible as a joke.
7:27 PM 12/8/2022 Accessibility award. God of War Ragnarok. I can't remember what I voted for, because I don't know much about this category. But I did a little research for this aspect of the nominees. And there was one game that said it could be played by blind players, and I was just just blown away. THAT is an accessible videogame! So I voted for it. What was it?…I think it was As Dusk Falls.
7:34 PM 12/8/2022 Best RPG: Elden Ring It was close between Elden Ring and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for me. I want them both to get recognition.
7:34 PM 12/8/2022 Players Voice: Genshin Impact. Well, that's good. Genshin is so popular, I'd be sad if they didn't win something to reflect that. Funny that Geoff mentioned that they sifted through all the bots. lol
7:34 PM 12/8/2022 Best independent game: Stray WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!!!! CAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7:35 PM 12/8/2022 Best Action Adventure Game: God of War Ragnarok I voted Stray because I thought it'd be hilarious if the cat game won over the AAA cinematic games. But honestly, I know that God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West are a little more actiony than Stray. So I'm ok with this.
7:35 PM 12/8/2022 Best Ongoing Game FF14 Wait. 2nd award tonight for them? What was the first award they won today?
7:40 PM 12/8/2022 Best Game Direction. Yay! Reggie! Ooh, Elden Ring. Oh! Well deserved. Yay! Miyazaki!!!
7:44 PM 12/8/2022 Ooh! New Cyberpunk 2077 content! "Phantom Liberty". Edris Elba too! Ooh!
7:45 PM 12/8/2022 What's this big "global" announcement? Bandai Namco. Could be anything. Bandai Namco has so many IPs… Is that a meteor crashed into lava? Or some kind of manufactured satellite or space craft? "Feed the fire." What? "Let the last cinders burn." From Software! Y'know what I love about these live audiences still being heard over the trailer premiers? You can feel the excitement building! Wait a second…Is this that old IP???? Just remade for current image quality standards? Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon omg it is an old pixelated IP, brought into HD. O_O!!!!!!!!!! I love that Resident Evil 2 seems to have started this era of remaking series so old that they actually need more than just an HD image enhancement. No more of this "remaking" recent, already-HD games with unnecessary enhancements only 5 years later. lol
7:52 PM 12/8/2022 YOSHI-P IS HERE????????????????? OMG HE'S ACTUALLY HERE! I thought it was going to be a video message! O.O!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, he memorized his announcement in English! O.O! Look at this FF16 trailer, man! This is the type of thing we see in this industry, and the movie industry wants us to be excited for Avatar? C'mon. Look at this! I guess Ifrit will be the protag's main summon. Again, I love hearing the audience cheering through the trailers.
7:57 PM 12/8/2022 Game of the Year. I love these orchestra montages of the nominees. ^-^ It's probably going to be God of War Ragnarok. Good choice. But also, did Horizon Forbidden West win anything tonight? I'd feel bad if they lost all their categories after getting their release window distracted by Elden Ring. I'm glad Xenoblade Chronicles 3 got nominated. I'm not familiar with it, but I heard everyone who has played it, LOVES it. At least it got recognized as a nominee. Like when Persona 5 snuck into the game of the year nominees. I want recognition for the anime-esque games. STRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH, there's Elden Ring. I'm pretty sure God of War will win. It's been winning so much tonight already.
8:01 PM 12/8/2022 Ooh! Elden Ring won! Nice! How could I forget how much everyone was obsessed with that game when it released? No wonder Miyazaki came all the way from Japan. He already won another award, but having 2 awards is definitely worth the plane trip.
8:03 PM 12/8/2022 No, Miyazaki, this IS the appropriate place/time to say you have more ideas than even Elden Ring. We are excited. ^_^
I'm sorry, I was blowing my nose and couldn't hear what that 2nd person was saying. But interesting that TGA dropped out the music when they realized another person started talking. That was really nice of them. How many times have I seen the Oscars cut into the final speech and then even just drop the feed sometimes? But they dropped the music to accommodate the winners, then just brought it back up after he was done talking. Easy. Good.
8:05 PM 12/8/2022 6/25/2023 Collaboration with the LA Philharmonic, I think Geoff said.
8:31 PM 12/8/2022 Wait. Did IGN Live just say that the 2nd guy talking during the Game of the Year acceptance speech was arrested on stage? He wasn't supposed to be there??? What did he say??? I've got to go back and rewatch that.
