I suppose I never really realized before, but the gods I find myself closest to are the ones that are my home, and me, as a green witch, an earth witch, and a naturalist: Artemis, goddess of the woods and forest, Poseidon, King of the ocean, Pan, patron of the mountains, and Demeter, lady of the harvest fields and plains. Nature incarnate, they are the gods of earth of whom I love the most 💚

How is it that we so often take the Mother Earth and its myriad wonders for granted, failing to marvel at its beauty and magic each day? Look around at the magnificent nature, all the wondrous creatures, the very air we breathe, and the food that sustains us. Even our own bodies, functioning like intricate machines, are miracles in themselves. How can we not pause each day to stand in admiration, to honor this world in all its complexity, from the grand, macro scale to the delicate, micro level?

Remember to pay attention

On my walk today:

A black cat met my eyes, it was young and wary but defiant and didn't run away until I was a foot away.

I noticed that some of my neighbour's blackberries were getting ripe, they'll probably be ready to eat by the end of July which is earlier than usual.

I saw a small slug perched on the shell of a larger snail as they travelled the path together.

A crow and a stonechat (I think) fought to be the loudest, but the crow won of course.

It was warm tonight, the sun was low and hidden by a soft layer of clouds, but the heat from the day still lingered. Not hot, but warm enough to not wear a jacket, and pink and orange painted the clouds.

It is on these quick, daily walks that I feel most at peace and I honestly think that every witch or spiritual practitioner or whatever term you prefer, should take just 5 minutes of their day to stop and notice the world around them.

I’m Isaac, I’m a baby polytheist born and raised Christian in the PNW! I’m pretty scarred from Christianity and the ablism I suffered in my upbringing as a result of autism and ADD, and the “special” schooling I received as a “treatment” for it. I am cautiously re-exploring spirituality, inspired by my 75 year old neighbor who is a witch! I’m starting my journey with Hellenism, Celtic Paganism, and Norse paganism and they have always been a fascination to me. I’m deeply connected to the earth and nature and always have been, and would love to become more spiritually in twinned with it.
