BoBa ChaCha, 26 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103
Tumblr media
The most expensive boba shop in Old Town Pasadena, but not the best, BoBa ChaCha makes their own boba. The tea isn’t brewed in advance but freshly brewed to order.
The menu includes fruit cha, classic cha, coffee, Italian soda/slush, milk cha, and smoothies. Drinks include two toppings. Toppings include boba, crystal boba, basil seeds, rainbow fruit jelly, fruit, popping boba (no grass jelly). They also sell desserts like macarons, fruit tarts, cheesecake, banana pudding, etc.
Earl grey milk cha ($6.95): I asked for 0% sugar, cold, with crystal boba. The drink was lukewarm when I got it and surprisingly sweet for 0% sugar. I could taste the tea and the drink was better once the ice cooled the drink down. It wasn’t overloaded with ice. But still, it was quite sweet. Maybe it was because of the crystal boba? The crystal boba was very sweet.
The shop was very cute with couches, nice looking tables and chairs, a bookcase with books & Jenga, and a wall with fake greenery and a neon sign.
You can order at the counter or use the self-serve order kiosk.

Update: I have laid down for a bit with some 70s folks, ate a bit of chocolate and am now making myself some tea. I have decided to be normal again and tuck away the rage partially out of view of my public blog. Assuming you only know me through what I post on a surface level internet platform, I am the epitome of Quirky Cool Chill Vibes.

I've always been a tea person, and have been trying to branch out in terms of black tea. What I've learned is that expensive grocery store or otherwise readily available locally black tea is always worse than cheap grocery store black tea. If you buy a $16 box of black tea with like 8 tea bags in it, it'll probably be so weak that you feel like you're drinking milky water, and you'll pine for the $5 actually strong enough to taste and enjoy Red Rose or Tetley or whatever.

Greetings from one tea lover to another! You've made me wonder: what is regarded as an indigenous drink in Texas? [Goes Googling.] Sotol? Yaupon / black drink? Oil?!
Tumblr media
Hello! Oooohh! Excellent question. I think that’s gonna depend on where in Texas you’re at. Given that’s it’s so big, there’s gonna be a lot of variety as there are quite a few tribes that call/have called Texas home. (Interactive map here!)
Unfortunately, I couldn’t actually find any beverages associated with the tribes native to my area, just foods and other consumables. I’m sure they drank herbal teas and the like but I wasn’t able to find anything specific.
All that said, if you walked up to a Texan and asked them what their favorite Texan beverage was you’d probably get iced tea, Shiner Bock, Dr. Pepper, or Big Red (soda not the gum).
