i’ve been doing a riptide rewatch with a friend of mine in college whose watching for the first time and,, we just finished ep 53 the other day and decided to pause to watch humble beginnings and so we finished and im just,,, im just thinking about how utterly giddy and childish (/pos) chip acts in it. hes so extremely immature but having a blast and im thinking about how featherbrooke was likely one of the first places he landed after fleeing skullslice. how he went from such a traumatic event, hiding that pain, and instantly turning back into that small kid again aboard the ship full of energy. i cant stop thinking about how its probably the first time he felt happy in ages, able to finally reiterate stories from the black rose once more without being shut down by price or the other gang members. just how absolutely eager he is to talk about them after likely having to be quiet for so long and now having people listen, even if theyre doubting him. after having to hide that part of him for so long, he gets to embrace it to people, especially to jay who knew drey. chip jrwi you make me miserable

Hear me out… Reader who fosters kittens when on leave 🥺

They get home from deployment just on time for their friend in the fostering program to send a pic of a box with “Kittens For Free” on the side of some rickety old backroad. And a text from her:

‘Got some kittens for you to take!! 😭’

So reader goes out there and brings them back to town and gets them evaluated. By the end of the day, Reader has a carrier of four two-week-old calicos.

And then the kitten hell begins. Feeding them every two hours, even at night. Sitting up at one in the morning cradling a mewing kitten that just wants its bottle. Weighing them to make sure they get stronger as expected from their charts. Keeping them warm with a cat plushy that has a battery operated heartbeat and heat pack.

By week two, Reader had dark eye bags but is completely overjoyed with the little kittens who are now able to wobble around after each other.

Their team, the 141, comes over for dinner and to watch the football game. They warn the guys that they have a couple of tiny visitors. They’re confused at the lack of context but brush it off and arrive at Reader’s home. Reader yells for them to quickly close the door and they look down to see four baby calicos skittering around their feet. Meowing and sniffing at these random guys they’ve never seen before.

Reader is laughing and bringing them over to the living room to introduce all the kittens.

By the end of the night, all the kittens have their favorite 141 member picked out.

A darker calico with a loud meow is lying in Price’s lap while quietly kneading and purring on his thigh.

The second calico kitten, with white socked paws, chews on Soap’s finger and attacks his hand whenever he spreads his fingers out.

The third is mostly orange with a few gray and white spots. It sits perched on Gaz’s shoulder while rubbing its soft face against his cheek and chirping quietly.

Finally the fourth kitten, one with a half-black half-orange face, naps in Ghost’s hoodie pocket. It meows every time Ghost moves to get up so he’s forced to stay in the same spot just so this tiny kitten can sleep peacefully.

Reader now has multiple pictures in their camera roll of the guys with the kitties.

The 141 will definitely be coming back before they get adopted just to see the little babies one last time.

I get that calling white lotus lbh a sticky little 'sheep' is a canon translation and stuck in the fandom now anyway, but I do feel the intended spirit of the original word wasn't the sheeple/dumb herd animal that's more common in the western world, but instead something actually conveying sweetness, innocence, purity and youth - lamb.

Famous for being utterly adorable and following around their mothers, gambolling in sunny meadows, curly white wool shining.

But really they're both very fuckin' in love with him, and trying to communicate that in a way it can't be miscommunicated is hard. simon with his traumatised scent, letting everyone who comes near him know just how damaged he is (as if looking at him wouldn’t give it away). simon the alpha who craves an omega’s orders; who longs to submit to an alpha

simon who wishes the sweet words they whisper to him were real

wishes their scenting would extend outside the nest, that they didn’t make him wash them it off afterwards. (they just want to give him aftercare, something he’s never been offered.) that the hickeys and sweet bites left oh so gently would drift that much closer to his mating gland. (he never got the proper schooling, was never taught that marks left near a mating gland were an offer as much as a question.) that they wouldn’t see him as just some pup hauled in from the rain when they press him tight between their chests

(he is their pup and they have taken him in. they just don’t know what they’re doing wrong that he won’t stay.)

imagining the first time simon was brought into their nest was the first time he’s been in any nest and it’s bc he’s so disregulated that he’s having a breakdown; maybe gaz or soap got hurt under his watch and his inner alpha can’t handle having failed them so spectacularly and nothing they say, no platitude or reassurance, can reach him

so price does what any pack leading omega would do

he scruffs simon, waits for his eyelids to droop and knees to go weak, and drags him into his nest; pushing him into the deepest well of it with the highest buildup of safe-sleep-pack-happy scent until simon’s inner alpha calms itself enough that he falls into a stress induced sleep

price watches over him the entire time, vigilant against any threat both internal and external, and it’s in his diligence that he notices how perfectly simon’s scent blends with his and nik’s; notices how happy his omega is at having the alpha in his nest

and how much he wants to keep him there

(simon wakes up disoriented; more than a little worried about nik’s reaction to another alpha in his mate’s nest and is quick to leave the second price lets him. he misses the quiet rumble of contentment nik gives when he smells their combined scent, when he hears how long simon slept and the safety he must’ve felt with price. he misses the conversation about how right it felt and the agreement that he should stay there)

ik i love talking about price with a domestic little spouse BUT what about price's partner who's an absolute outgoing techno/rave freak? little outfits that look insanely complicated and/or barely cover everything, matching makeup with rhinestones and glitter, accessories that you cant wear in broad daylight, music that makes his head throb. you go out so much, always sending him videos of the events you're at, sending him outfit checks - he really, really wants to keep you home with him, cover you up so no one but him can see the precious body that he knows like the back of his hand. but he can't and he knows it, he knows it'll be like trying to catch a fly with bare hands. and God, seeing you smile brightly and dance makes his heart skip a beat - even more so when you offer to take him with you

SOME STICK-SWAP IDEAS IVE HAD BUZZING IN MY HEAD FOR A LITTLE WHILE!

I've always thought about how fun it'd be to do a personality swap with my favorite trio, and originally it was JUST going to be that. "Dave's meaner" or "Johnny's more timid.", but the more I thought about it, the more I thought about how their personality shifts wouldn't just affect their relationships with each other, but their careers and futures as well.

RAMBLES ABOUT THE SWAPS BELOW vvvv

ON THE LEFT!

Rupert w/ Dave's personality, AKA 'Rupy' : After the incident at West Mesa with Henry Stickmin, Rupert couldn't take the stress of possibly messing up AGAIN, so he left his job as an officer and moved elsewhere. He ended up becoming a tour guide at the National Museum of History & Culture! He keeps to himself, always stays informed of the latest exhibits, and whenever he's in charge of checking bags and other sticks' belongings, he gets ON IT. He does NOT want another Henry-Incident to occur.

Johnny Panzer w/ Rupert's personality: Johnny decided to follow his father's footsteps. He joined the military and became an expert at creating & using the government's latest tech. He's considered one of the best sticks on their team, only being overshadowed by his father. He spends most of his time on base and tries to be on his own as much as possible, and whenever he's home, he prefers to stay in his room. He doesn't seem to enjoy the company of anyone else.

Dave w/ Johnny's personality: After he lost his job, he bounced right back and became a security guard at the museum! Only to be fired from that. So he ended up working as a barista! Then he got fired from that as well. Dave tried time and time again to get a job that'd really 'stick' with him, but when he kept getting fired, he chose not to dwell on it, but instead follow life's weird flow and bounce from job to job instead. He works all sorts of odd jobs with even odder hours, he probably gets into the most shenanigans out of the three, but he isn't all that bothered by it. He doesn't talk about them much either, as Rupy worries too much, and Johnny doesn't care.

ON THE RIGHT:

Rupert w/ Johnny's personality: He stayed in West Mesa after the incident. He decided he didn't want to deal with prisoners as much any more, and instead chose to help more with 'professional' matters such as scheduling and hosting meetings, checking both police and prisoners' belongings, organizing files, and a lot of other work that requires him to sit in front of a computer. He keeps tracks of any mistakes, shortcomings, or attempted outbreaks/escapes. He doesn't bring up the Henry Stickmin incident, he insists he doesn't care about it anymore, but anytime anyone ELSE mentions it, he noticeably tenses.

Johnny w/ Dave's personality: Johnny couldn't handle life as an officer for too long. He felt he didn't belong. He doesn't know WHERE he belongs and he's afraid to find out. He lives with Rupert & Dave and barely leaves the apartment. The thought of being out for too long on his own terrifies him and he doesn't understand why. Despite Rupert's constant reassurance that he likes having Johnny around, Johnny can't help but feel he's dead weight and tries to make up for it by cooking delicious meals for his friends, constantly cleaning around the apartment, and helping with whatever work they bring home.

Dave w/ Rupert's personality: He hated himself for what happened at West Mesa. When he got fired, he knew it was deserved, and it only fueled that anger further. He wanted to make sure nothing--that no ONE--ever slipped by his eyes again, so he started off as a security guard, then he'd be hired as a bouncer at big named clubs and casinos [the front of his hat has the word 'BOUNCER' on it!], then eventually, he'd start getting hired as an enforcer for influential sticks. He takes pride in his job, he isn't afraid to flaunt his success because he knows he's earned it. There's always going to be a part of him that looks down on Rupert, not just for staying behind at West Mesa, but for putting more effort into being observational and careful AFTER Henry Stickmin had broken out.

I think no matter what, the trio would still end up living together and try to survive. And of course. They would butt heads often.
