"She knew she had a special talent with her eyes. Specifically, being able to see the signs a rift was going to open. It had always been something she noticed when she was a young girl. The first instance of this happening was when she was going to a haunted hotel with older cousins as a part of their little "vlog." She noticed something off about the building...the light flickering, the strange change in atmosphere...

She couldn't go in that building. She refused.

Annoyed at her, her cousin opt out of the overnight stay in spite of wanting to see ghosts. On the drive back, she would lecture Jasmine about really needing to face her fears eventually if she wanted to keep hanging with them. Jasmine scrunched her brows at her, 'I'm literally 10 years old, what do you want from me??'

Well, it didn't really matter what her cousin thought. Because when they came the next morning to pick up the others, they were in a deep coma. Jasmine never saw those cousins ever again.

Now, she was no longer scared of entering these places. She knew what to look for, when it'll happen, and if it extends out. Jasmine made her boss real proud. She was his proudest group member. This should have made her happy to be seen as important for the cause. But... she couldn't help but feel...empty." "......"

"A trick of the light"

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ Jasmine looked at Ryan, then to the paper she was being shown to her face. It couldn't be...this wasn't right...right? There was absolutely no way this was her boss's true intentions. She surely wasn't going to be disregarded after he gets the kids on his side, right?? He...he still needed her! She was the only one who could see the rift...

He...he needed someone to detect it so he doesn't get dragged in it. That was why she was by his side so often. She was the most important part of this plan, she had to have been there once the kids were fully convinced of the lie.

Right? Right?? ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

"Where am I?"

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ She stumbled on herself as she backed away, feeling her vision leave her. Come on, he had to be pulling her leg. Ryan was only pissed that she found out about his secret, he made this up, he had to had made it up.

She was going to be there. She wasn't going to be killed off after they succeeded in overthrowing the facility.

Jasmine looked up to meet the nurse's gaze, knowing he was a part of this sick joke. But he looked dead serious. No...nononononono...

She pinched herself, it stung. She tried again. And again. And...again...

She was used. Again.

She couldn't breathe. Her lungs couldn't get enough air inside. She felt like puking. Her body kept shivering unbearably as she held herself. How did she end up here? Why did she ever take this job? !!FASTPASS SPOILER CHAPTER 85!!

So we're learning quite a lot about the cranes in these last few chapters. @hozaloza is probably overjoyed lol, especially with that post about Ryan and Jasmine being exes. This chapter really gave the crazy ex vibes, she knows him wayyy too well and she looks like she would lick the blood off knives if she could lol.

She was so sinister in like half her appearances, though she always seemed so happy-go-lucky around Maverick. The chibi panel of her and Ryan was cute though.

And Ryan lmaoo, he spent half this chapter being dissed and an anxious mess it was so funny. Alex did him so dirty with that description. I love that he's sticking his neck out to help the kids despite everything. He and Charlie are like different brands of pathetic wet cats lol. I love them

Charlie's confirmed to be part of the cult and apparently he was imprisoned as punishment? Which is so weird tbh but does that mean the information he gave the parents is fake? Is he pretending to betray the Cranes to spy on the kids and their parents? I'm so curious about this man ugh.

Anyways, can't wait for next week!

Opinions on the cranes? And opinion on RosePunch (Ryan x Alex)

i find the cranes interesting. i like how mysterious they’re portrayed in the webtoon but i really hope we get more explanations and closure on who’s the real villain. it’s more obviously the cranes but their manipulation tactics towards the kids really make you question. it’s interesting to watch and i can’t wait to see how everything unfolds afterwards. i hope this makes sense 😭 if you want more specifics on each member we know so far…

jasmine - i like her design. she’s pretty and her personality gives like “idc what you guys do as long as i’m getting paid for it” type of vibes. i don’t think she really cares about the children or what’s really the “good” decision. i think she’s just there to see things play out.

ryan - i trust him i think. the way he warned alex to tell ashlyn something was off about maverick.. he definitely has more compassion compared to the rest of them. hopefully that doesn’t lead to his death or anything..!!

maverick - i don’t think he has good intentions at all, especially with that interaction with ben and how ryan literally warned others not to trust him. he gives me bad vibes.

mr thomas - i knew something was off about him since he saw ashlyn’s shadow. i just didn’t think he’d turn out THAT twisted. and that panel where he sticks the needle in ashlyn’s arm actually sent chills through me when i first read it, it was so well done. we haven’t seen him in a while in the webtoon so i wonder what’s happening there…

as for rosepunch, i don’t have any strong opinions towards the ship. i don’t hate it i think its cute and i can see why people ship it (i also like the ship name), but id need to see more content of them before i decide fully.

Books by Black Authors for Black History Month!

I wanted to share a list of books I love and books that I'm looking forward to reading that are by Black authors in acknowledgement of Black History Month. I feel like a lot of my fellow readers (especially my fellow white readers) always go into a, kind of, reading slump in February and I don't know if that's because the month of January is just ten years long that February feels like a hangover or if it's because they feel the desire to read books by Black authors but then the majority of what is marketed is usually books that are steeped in trauma or nonfiction books. And, like, yeah, nonfiction books are so important but when they're the only kind of book marketed it can make finding the other kinds of books that much harder but I believe that if you read the fun books and the happy books and the fantasy books it will make you want to seek out the nonfiction resources. I'm blabbering so long story short, I thought I would make a little list to do some of the legwork for my fellow readers to find stories that they can check out.

I used GoodReads links (and one StoryGraph) link, you can choose who to purchase from yourself (although I will suggest BookShop.org as your purchase does go towards indie bookstores, I also really like the Libby App which is just your library and it works with your Kindle/Nook/Kobo/iPad). All authors that I have included in this are American or have strong ties to the USA which is why I did not include authors such as Bolu Babalola, Talia Hibbert, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie but I do highly recommend checking them out if you haven't because they do write gorgeously.

Kennedy Ryan has an extensive backlog and beautiful writing, beautiful prose. She had a book called Before I Let Go (Skyland #1) come out in November 2022, it is a second chance romance between a married couple. It has been on my shelf forever, the cover is beautiful and I've heard nothing but truthfully incredible things. I have listened to snippets of the audiobook but keep putting off getting the actual audiobook because Kennedy is the kind of author I want to read the grammar, syntax, wording of everything from. This book actually got optioned to be adapted into a television show and there's a second Skyland book coming out in March called This Could Be Us that has the ARC readers going wild.

Jasmine Guillory is one of my favorite authors. She is a Bay Area native and has a law degree from Stanford. Not only do I think that she writes beautifully but I cannot even describe to you the way that I kick my little feet and twirl my hair. I feel like my favorite of hers changes. Up until a few weeks ago, I would've told you that Olivia Monroe in Party of Two was my favorite Jasmine girly but I listened to Royal Holiday to kick off my reading for January and Vivian Forest is such a beautiful character. She's a 56 year old Black woman who is a veteran social worker who thinks it's too late for her on several fronts and then she gets swept off her feet while on a vacation with her daughter AND THE ROYAL FAMILY. What?! I also think that Jasmine writes, like.... character appropriate sex scenes if that makes sense. Like, Vivian's scenes are more reserved than Olivia's were, Vivian's more closed door than Olivia's were. She also has a Beauty and the Beast inspired book called By The Book and I kept texting my friend the entire way through and then made her buy a copy so she could text me right back with all her thoughts. Amazing. I love her.

You want cozy fantasy romance with monsters and happy Black women being loved by their hot monster lovers? Kimberly Lemming has GOT YOU COVERED.

Plugging my new author friend P.J. Leigh and her book Olawu. She actually responded to my request for some indie author recs on Threads and sent me a copy of Olawu that will be here on Friday and I'm so excited. She describes it as: "Set in precolonial East Africa with romance, action, sisterhood, found family, and a feisty but flawed female lead." I cannot wait to dig into this one.

Another author who messaged me is indie author Quiana Glide. Her bio is that she is an unabashed fangirl and her books feature pregnancy trope, cosplay, professional wrestlers and cafe owners solving murders. Her books sound fucking great and they are available on Kindle Unlimited for my KU girlies (gender neutral).

Celestine Martin messaged me as well and she writes paranormal romance with Black witches, emo mermen and fae princes. I tripped over myself running to my Libby app to place a hold on the audiobook.

25 to Love! by Joye Johnson is another one available on Kindle Unlimited for my KU girlies (gender neutral). The synopsis is: "TV's hottest dating show is '25 to Love!'. To nab a guy from her past, Lola signs on as the token girl of color. All's fair in love and ratings--can a week on TV get Lola closer to the one that got away?" You know what I love? Second chance romances, besties, that's right.

Splinter by Jasper Hyde was another I was recommended. Jasper writes paranormal, LGBTQ+ books. Jasper Hyde is a pen name for Georgina Kiersten who also goes by Rian Fox. The pen name denotes the subgenre that they write. Georgina does go by they/them pronouns and writes plus sized rep and neurodivergent rep too.

Kelly Cain. That's it. That's the tweet. THE EVERHEART BROTHERS SERIES????? If you know anything about me, you know that I have a hearing issue and so I've used audiobooks before but I never really clicked with them or got the hype. Turns out I had boring ass narrators (look I did the audio version of a lot of nonfiction books I had to read about old dead white guys in college so of course I had that feeling). THE EVERHEART BROTHERS AUDIOBOOKS ARE WHAT CHANGED ME. Deanna Anthony, the narrator, is so engaging and I didn't feel like I was listening to an audiobook, I felt like I was sitting across the table at brunch having a gossip session with my bestie. If you read it and you didn't like it, that's fine, but I didn't lie to you and enjoyment of art is subjective but also you're wrong and argue with a wall.

I've been seeing a lot of talk lately about Pride & Protest by Nikki Payne. This is a Pride & Prejudice and one of the reviews says, "If you ever wanted P&P to feel more like watching a swoony, steamy episode of Insecure, this is the book for you."

Currently, I am reading You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi. It deals with themes of grief and romance and also bisexual representation. Absolutely beautiful prose. Akwaeke is Nigerian and has been in the USA since college. They are non-binary and go by they/them pronouns.

I also cannot end this list without mentioning Memphis by Tara M. Stringfellow. This follows three generations of a southern Black family in the neighborhood of Douglass in Memphis, TN (I was born a couple miles away in Raleigh) . Now, this book does have quite a few trigger warnings that I won't put here but I do encourage you to READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS before you purchase this book as it does deal with some pretty heavy subject matter.

I'm also going to end this by saying to keep an eye out for anything done by my best friend, the person who I have shared so many amazing, beautiful, life changing experiences with ALL OVER THE WORLD for the last fourteen years: Isana Skeete (Isana does not use pronouns). If you look at the GoodReads account for Isana that I linked, you'll see lists made with recommendations of books with queer POC rep and asexuality representation.

-Watch Over Me by cakeisatruth-- COMPLETE-- “ Little Sisters can be cured in a matter of seconds, but it takes far longer for one to overcome everything she's been brainwashed to believe.” A really good fic from the perspective of a recovering Little Sister!! I especially love this fic. 

-Bei Mir Bist Du Sheon by poppywine-- WIP--  “ Brigid Tenenbaum has put the worst of Rapture behind her. That's the good news. The bad news is that a part of it is now standing on her porch.” As stated, this fic is still in progress, but the writing is wonderful, and I’m really excited to see where it goes!!

-With Friends Like These.... by gummysharksupremacy --WIP--- this one is actually about remorseful!Bad End Jack which I found intriguing from the start!! Basically he wakes up after the events of the game and is trying to make his way out of Rapture. Has some Infinite/BAS elements but I havent played either of those and it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the fic. Honestly can be enjoyed as a standalone and is a really awesome fic!!

-Atonement for Bygone Sins by foorocks10-- WIP-- “Delta wakes in the ashes of failure. In the ashes of Rapture.Babylon has fallen. And yet Sophia Lamb seeks to build something greater and more terrible from Rapture's ashes.” I actually just discovered this one the other day!! 

-Here Comes the Sun by Riddle_of_the_sphinx --WIP-- “There are others I must help before this city drowns..... or, basically Delta decides that he’s going to save as many people as he can so they can see the sun.” This fic actually had me laughing out loud, Delta has such a sassy inner commentary. I’m excited to see where this one goes, as well!!

-There Is No Rapture by necroticboop-- WIP-- this fic is basically a fleshing out of Brigid Tenenbaum’s whole backstory and it is SOOOO GOOD omg. If you like Brigid please read this story and give the author some feedback because it is SO. GOOD.

-Underwater Eden by jadrea-- WIP-- “It is much to his surprise that Augustus Sinclair finds he's alive.” This one’s got MAPS and stuff like those really good fantasy books from middle school. Promising, I must say, LOL. 

-The Prodigal Son by malice-and-macarons-- WIP--”Atlas wakes up.Death, he thinks, would have been kinder.” I think this one is actually pretty popular amongst the Bioshock fanbase (small as it may be) but just in case you havent seen it, here it is!! 

Final note: I know we all love the instant gratification of already completed fic, and don’t like waiting for updates (I know, me too!) but I encourage anyone looking for something to read to give the WIP’s a try, and leave nice comments for the authors if you enjoyed the story! It’s hard to write when you feel like noone cares. If you want content, you have to validate the content creators!!

i really like the idea of a rivals to lovers courtney x emma (rr) ship, logically i know their similarities would probably make it difficult to get along but idk i think it could work in a weird way. they’re both one of my favorite character archetypes (im a sucker for the type as) so i’d love to explore how they would interact. honestly i should write a fic for them

beth x sierra is another rarepair i like! they’re both seen as Weird Girls (derogatory) who get crushes easily and i think they could have a cute little thing going on.

i also like beth x katie (& sadie?), they all hung out during the aftermaths for tdwt, i could see it as a poly thing or as a similar dynamic to wayne & raj where katie is realizing she’s a lesbian and sadie is supporting her

this one actually has some basis in dramarama of all things, but harold x lightning. i thought it was really cute how tdr harold had a crush on lightning and i would love to play around with that dynamic within the main canon. ooo especially with the inclusion of transfem harold (bc lightning don’t judge!)

ella x sky! i think their ship name is ellsky? anyway they should’ve cut out the axis of the brief tdpi love triangle (dave) and just had ella think of sky as her knight and sky learning to relax a bit with ella

while i don’t really ship either of them with anyone, i do like the idea of zee x damien. i think zee’s chillness could help balance out damien when he’s a little more high strung, and damien could help ground zee. after all, zee was damien’s biggest supporter to help get himself voted off! i also headcanon damien as a trans guy and zee as nonbinary so t4t couple rights lol. ngl every time i see someone shipping zee with chase or ripper (or both!) i shed a silent tear. zee deserves better (im mostly joking)

Manila, Philippines — VoicePlay & Rachel Potter live performances

When VoicePlay and their buddy Rachel Potter released their "Moana medley" video in the summer of 2017, it went a bit viral and brought them a number of new fans, especially among young kids and their parents. A year later, one of those families invited the six singers to perform at their daughter's birthday party in Manila, with the added incentive of a public show for more of their Filipino fans. A trip to the other side of the world was an opportunity they weren't about to pass up. Even if it did require a full day of travel each way, everyone agreed that the experience was well worth it.

What would some of your favorite characters from other media be up to in the hazbin universe?

real talk but i turned the main characters from my bioshock au into helluva boss demons - ive been way too embarrassed about posting about it before, and also im afraid of the backlash of people getting snippy that im mixing fandoms like that (i remember the warrior cats fans got REALLY annoyed about people doing dream smp crossovers at the time when that was popular). that being said, i saw a bioshock x hazbin hotel crossover comic just the other day, so if they can do it, why cant i?

jack is a bird-like demon from the goetia family (i think i based him off of some sort of falcon), as are his parents (jasmine i depict as a swan, and andrew ryan is a rooster). atlas is an incubus, subject delta is a hellhound and sinclair is an imp. im not sure what the other characters would be - sofiya lamb i considered as another goetia family member (since shes identified as one of "raptures finest" in bioshock2) therefore making at least my version of eleanor a very strange hellhound-bird hybrid.

some elements of stolas actually inspired me to expand on jacks pov in the original au more, especially after "owl in a cage" / "stolas speaks" came out at the beginning of season two - this person with a lot of apparent power ("apparent" being the operative word here) who, due to immense emotional neglect and societal pressure, decided to indulge in their own selfish desires instead of doing something more useful. after regaining his memories, jack figures that his behaviour had been shallow due to his intense loneliness ("whats between you and i? just a comfortable lie") and he vows to make sure that his new family have his full effort to make up for his ignorance.

im not sure if events as they are in the bioshock au would transpire the exact same way as they would in the world of helluva boss, but its fun to think about how the story might change. for instance, with the inclusion of the little sisters, this would mean Super-tall Bird Demon Jack and his Medium-Sized Incubus Lover Atlas would end up adopting a gaggle of Teeny-tiny Itty Bitty Little Imp Girlies, which i think is beyond cute. i think delta in this instance would be hired muscle, and sinclair is his newest employer whos weirdly amiable with him.

“Oh, I only wanted to ask if you’ve noticed anything different with any of the kids. I know you’re not the one watching them, but between you and Ryan, you did have the closest contact with them in Savannah.”

“M-hm, sure did. Got to talk directly to them, too.” Jasmine tilted her head a bit, the smallest of smiles tugging at her lips as she leaned her shoulder back against the cool wall behind her. “Based on what Ryan’s told me, it’s just that they’re causing energy spikes—oh, they started learning self-defense, too. The girl’s mom is teaching them? Pretty sure it’s not because of Ryan, though. Seems like one of them was having a preeetty good amount of trouble before, anyway. Plus, depending on what’s happening to them…”

“They probably assumed that it would help them survive.”

Jasmine’s voice perked up slightly, her smile growing ever-so-slightly as she nodded at the other. “Yup! Exactly. Definitely something we should factor in, though. Especially since we’re moving forward with the whole plan.”

any headcanon list about her?

I don't have the widest range of headcanons for her (especially not if I'm going off of the top of my head)! But let's go! :D

Grew up without financial stability. I don't really have any basis for this headcanon, it's just kind of a vibe that I've gotten from her. If it gets revealed that she grew up rich or something, I'm going to think it's the funniest thing.

One of the first things she did when she turned 18 and got a decent amount of money was get her first tattoo. I think she would have gotten the one in the middle of her chest over with first, honestly. I hope lilredbeany posts the full concept for her tattoo at some point. I wanna know what the full thing looks like...

One of her favorite songs is Venom (Icon For Hire). This is on the SBG playlist that lilredbeany has, and I almost always attribute to Jasmine for some reason.

Thanks to her eye color, I associate her with a lot of forest-y colors; dark greens, browns, etc.; I think that she tends to stick to a lot of darker and more muted colors, sometimes in those shades.

Her first hair cut was when she was 14, and it was done in the middle of the night in her bathroom. It looked rough, but it was a lot better/more comfortable/she felt more like herself. She's been keeping it short ever since. Doesn't do anything special with it, just wakes up, ruffles it out/combs through it with her fingers, and is done. If she's gotta lead some kids to a rift, though, she'll clean up a little bit better.

Had to look at makeup tutorials on YouTube to cover up and hide her tattoos/piercing holes. Not that her tattoos needed a lot of effort to hide, but. She wasn't used to using concealer or anything.

Can sleep almost anywhere, so long as she has something to cover up with--it doesn't have to be a blanket, it can be just a jacket.

She acts a lot more friendly with the boss than she does with Ryan. It's not that she's more comfortable with the boss--it's actually that she's more comfortable letting herself relax/letting her guard down around Ryan. She can argue with him, talk back, joke around, elbow and nudge him, etc.

They tried to do the same with Iris from Terms and Conditions, it literally mentioned that she’s DARKSKIN but they kept casting her a lightskin, (Specifically I pictured her as Ryan Destiny) but y’know the ✋🏻 can’t stand a POC specifically a black women the main character of their favorite books

finally met a person who visualized ryan destiny as iris. i also visualized jasmine tookes also considering the amount of times people use sis wedding photos for aesthetic photos for terms & conditions. i have noticed people do that a lot with creating aesthetic edits for novels. it ain’t that hard to find some dark skinned or brown skinned ladies for characters. especially when the author specifically state that they’re dark skinned! that’s one thing about my novels i plan on publishing…readers will know that the female leads are dark skinned. i will literally imprint it on the back of their eyelids cause if i open social media and you using damn zendaya photos as aesthetic for my novel, imma scream 😭

🥀 Venus Nakshatras (Purva Phalguni, Bharani, Purva Ashadha)

-They seem to have an air of mystery in my opinion. They have the girl next door kind of beauty, think of movies where the guy sees a girl at the airport or on a train and he doesn’t see her ever again but he keeps fantasizing about her. Venusians are the type to captivate someone within one glance. They are also sensual but in a subtle way, they don’t have to do too much to show that side of them because it’s not only based on how they look but the way they talk, walk, and their personality.

They are the type to turn heads no matter what room they walk in because that’s how good they look, not only that they seem to have this confidence about them whether you see yourself that way or not others may definitely do! They appear younger than what they actually are not just physically but their demeanor, personality, and spirit. They may get stared at a lot. I will also like to add that pictures does not do these nakshatras justice at all, they are so beautiful in person similar to the moon!

-They are so sultry in a dark feminine type of way. They also have RBF and can appear very intimidating. Many people might assume that mercurials are mean due to the way they look (imo they are pretty nice). They are the kind of girls that you want to talk to but they come off unapproachable so you just admire them from a far lol. I also notice they love playing with makeup looks especially their eye makeup!

I notice that these ketuvians can be complex and very misunderstood, you think that you have them figured out but there is WAY more to them than beyond surface level. They have a haunting type of beauty! The kind of women you never forget.

They are usually center of attention no matter where they go. I notice that they are charismatic as well and that’s what honestly reels people in the most! In my opinion, they remind me so much of a trophy wife. Their partners love being able to tell people that you guys are married/dating.

Their eyes can tell stories and they can communicate to others very well with them. Often times they can look pretty sad even when they aren’t. Rahuvians look so dreamy, I can’t explain it, they look so soft but intense at the same time! Honestly, they are the type of girls people write about. Absolutely captivating!

These nakshatras were blessed with alluring and unique features. Saturnians look like they came right out of a fantasy film with different beautiful creations that are not of this world. They will also kill it in modeling especially editorial/high fashion they have the type of beauty that the modeling industry goes for.

Their aura to me is pretty powerful they know exactly how to act to get people (men especially) at their beck and call. Reasons that are obvious why Jasmine and Ryan are not a good relationship:

The only time we ever hear Jasmine speak, it is her being afraid of Andrew Ryan. The fact that she knows her actions, despite being unintentional, will result in something that clearly causes her a lot of fear and stress indicates not only his poor morals but also his lack of respect of her.

She never, in the several years she has known him, calls him anything aside from "Mr. Ryan". This is a very formal way to refer to someone, especially if you have known someone for a very long time and are supposed to be as close as they are. Did Jasmine choose to do this herself, or did Andrew Ryan never allow her to refer to him as anything else to show the distance he holds with her? The "respectability" and "formality" indicate something detached, a very clear gap between them. Diane McClintock is heard calling him "Andrew", so this would reveal that he views and approaches Diane differently than Jasmine.

When he finds out her honest mistake, a mistake I'm sure she never fully understood (I can't imagine the 1940s boasted good sex health education), he does something I'm sure many would think out of character for him, at least in regards to his well-known, self-crafted image of a suave, refined intellectual. He savagely murders her. No talking, no trying to find another solution. He decides in that moment (whether a "crime of passion" or not) that she deserves to die for her mistake, no matter what she says to him or how she pleads for him to stop. In that moment, her life meant nothing to him, and he took it from her, as if he had the right to choose whether she lived or died. To him, she had to pay for betraying him, even though she never would've done anything to hurt him before. The very moment she tries to step free of him and be on her own, he takes her life.

My headcanon is that she met Andrew Ryan young, which I think we can infer from her story, or at least she was in a difficult position when she met him. Women were paid less than men (they still are; fight me if you want), and she found herself stuck in her career as she only made it to the esteemed Sander Cohen's gallery of chorus girls. Ryan already offered to help her once. Jasmine trusted him because she believed his intentions towards her were more honorable, that he did genuinely care about seeing her become successful. Maybe, for a time, that was true. But I don't think it lasted very long, especially since Cohen most likely knew of Ryan's interest in Jasmine and became jealous, set to hamper her chances of rising any higher than that. Cohen probably told Ryan that Jasmine didn't have the right stuff to achieve her goals. Ryan and Cohen obviously respect each other enough that I'm sure Ryan would've listened to him. Cohen obliterated her chance of ever having Ryan's respect by hiring her as a stripper. He knew this, knew Ryan well enough that if he did this, Ryan would never take Jasmine seriously, never see her as anything aside from a sex object.

EDIT: additional point. It is also obvious, I think, that he treated her with a lot of suspicion. I mean, following his attack, he cruelly and harshly calls her a whore. I can't imagine that was the first time he ever did that. Most people know that there is a common suspicion around sexual women. And, seeing their dynamic, she accepted his help with trust, and he saw it as more transactional, i mean- ugh. Just ugh. Edit to the edit: ALSO that shows he had no remorse for killing her! There is never a point where he ever shows any regret or sorrow for doing that to her!!!!
